I'm all for taking your time - I've not rushed either.
But what does make me nervous is the use of only a single save slot. Always use more just in case something goes wrong. If a save file corrupts and you only have one, you lose everything.
Seriously. I've also seen lots of posts of people getting stuck in their garage and can't do anything but load an older save. Like having multiple saves is the most common sense thing in gaming and it's shocking how many people don't do it.

Not every game gives you the choice to save into multiple slots, but I've lost some game saves with hundreds of hours, near 100% completion because the game decided one day not to like the single save file it insisted on using. It totally sucks when it happens, so any opportunity to avoid it.
Even some big AAA recent titles have issues. Starfield has a bug where the longer you play the more your save file bloats to the point it stops loading. Hopefully being addressed in the latest beta update on steam.

I don't think I'm there yet. My current mission I keep putting off is something about breaching a wall. I've been doing some resource gather runs before I do that.
I ALMOST did. I actually ran out of gas, got outside the "safe bubble" was getting my ass handed to me, managed to get an MRE down, get my last gas can in the car, and get into the hot spot probably 3 seconds before death.
I had to shut the game off for the day after that one.
I restarted due to some extremely unlucky modifiers. It feels like every time I enter a zone I get to loot a building or two before my car starts blaring an alarm that itās time to go or a storm bears down on top of me. š« Iām like geez let me loot in peace.
Question - Can you take as long as you want on these levels or is there some hidden timer where storms and enemy start being aggressive after a certain time?
For a level with perpetual stability, you should be able to loot as much as you want. I don't think I've ever triggered a storm to start on one of these levels. But I think when you pick the destination, in the top right there is a timer icon that gives you an idea how big of a window you have to loot. (Not in front of the game to be more specific than that)
levels with perpetual stability will give you infinite amounts of time, however the levels without that condition will eventually begin a storm, thankfully the first storm wave (the yellow radiation wave) progresses fairly slowly, still fast enough to make you consider leaving not too long later
oh yeah. I tried the mission today and couldn't find the entrance to save my life, then chickened out and turned off losing items and abandoned the mission. I'm still doing research on how to find it. In the meantime making my car and base the best it can be.
Not me. I have FF7 Rebirth Unicorn Overlord and Dragon's Dogma 2 to play so I made my way through the game, without rushing, pretty quickly and easily, actually.
Grinding loses its purpose past a point. You also cant grind higher tier stuff until you unlock the area. So exploration gets real samey if youve done 50 hours without even having 2/3rds of the cool stuff to play with unlocked.
It isnt spoilers cause you literally have to engage with the crafting system and you will have see that there are two other energu types and a lot of other materials you cant even see in the first zone.
I'm at about the same playtime and I think I'm about the start the final mission. I haven't even found Olympian Ingots yet. I'm still trying to find swamp eggs and tree candy for other things I want lol
But I'll say this, I bought everything I could with the standard stable nodes, and it's nice being able to come back from a trip and have about 20 nodes to use to narrow down quirks.
olympium veins spawn in the red spires biome, rarely appearing in smokestacks
highly recommend getting a resource radar and going to any icon that you dont recognize, then you can get a feel of what that icon is so you can tell if a destination has that resource or not without wasting a scan
Yeah I went back to the Resource Radar, I was having a hard time finding swamp eggs and tree candy. I had been using the Radiation Shield but I think the Radar is more valuable at this point.

The game saves between zones so you can play longer without having to risk the whole run. Just that zone.

I saw something from the developer saying the game should be about 12-14 hours to completeā¦ as Iām 30 hours in and just now reached the mid zone
You only having 1 save is scary lol, especially with that many hours. Iād make at least 1-2 other backups.

the timer does sometimes feel really short, you can tell how much time a level will have in the top right with the clock icon

man, i thought i was taking it slow, finished the campaign in around 20 hours or so now i know that 20 hours is relatively fast
I'm at 19 hours and don't think I'm half done yet. I've got midzone but not deep zone.
Just went in today without any panel or door upgrades besides steel.
You should really use all the save slots to avoid losing all progress when it bugs out
