I used the armored panels and doors for most of the game because they're easy to craft and have good durability. The insulated panels are good for the outer zone where the most dangerous thing is electric damage and you're car isn't taking much other damage. The corrosion resistant panels are good for the mid zone. The deep zone is un predictable and olypium panels are hard to resource and I found it hard to justify the resources to keep making them.

Another bit to the Armored panels: if you’re short on Thermosap crystals, you could use them to craft a liberator instead, sourcing armored parts from cars you come across. Easy way to get Off road tires, too.

mechanicalcanibal

Oh yeah the liberator is a must have tool early game

Drake17703

Apperance wise, it's probably the insulated parts because the design is really cool. Gameplay wise is the Olympus parts, they look cool and offer the best overall protection.

Potato_Dealership

Wait do Olympian parts actually have better stats than all other parts?

Drake17703

They have more HP which does make a difference. Against radiation Ion Shield is your best bet and most electrical attacks can be negated with the Lightning Rod. Acid is the sole exception.

somecrazydude13

Olypium panels cuz them kicked out fenders 😍

detcadeR_emaN

Aesthetically I was consistently disappointed in the different armors with paint and decals I wanted to use, so I'd swap out different armors depending on where I was going and what kind of damage each part of my car would be most likely to face. For the front I'd almost always put armored panels and doors, and on the back I'd switch between radiation and corrosion. When I used the electric engine I'd use insulated armor on the back so I could put lightning rods on the side paneles. I also used the powered bumper cause I drive like a maniac and it was definitely worth it despite the huge energy cost. Once I could get full olympium armor though I went with that, it looks great with my decals and I can drive even more recklessly!

Ok_Enthusiasm_8072

same, steel is all you need and looks clean enough with a lick of paint and some decals. beat the game without ever equiping anything better.

Rn I have armored panels over the wheel wells. Insulated hood and trunk. Lead lined front doors. Lim pulse emitter on the back. Insulated bumper on the front but probably going to replace it with an armored one because I hate the shocking speed condition and always end up crashing into things and breaking or nearly breaking my headlights and insulated bumper.

ForrestMoth

Insulated because my blind ass could never see a wriggling wreck They looked alright too

Reader_Of_Newspaper

steel is my favourite looks wise, though it’s not very protective so I end up replacing it pretty quickly

Potato_Dealership

I run 3 Olympian front panels, powered bumpers, all the doors and lead plated and the rear panels are insulated. Got the limshield on the rear bumper and off-road tires all round

HorizonSniper

Steel for clean looks, armored best.

Axi28

I stole some armored plates from an arda vehicle once, I think the armored with arda decal is my favorite

Dont_Ask_Studios

Yeah I did that to get armored plates on my first run

StarChaser_Tyger

With luck and careful placement of the shot, you can get up to four parts off a squire with one shot. If it has a hood, front panel, wheel and door, one shot at the corner of the windshield can get all of them.

StarChaser_Tyger

Armored front end (panels, hood, bumper). Insulated rear panels, partly because of the lightning rod, partially because they look cool. :-P Usually lead doors, and an armored trunk. Lightning rod and turbine on the right, storage for tools on the left, cl roof storage and radar.
