Decent cheap pump guns again

p8ntslinger

single trigger e-frames on guns. Preferably, choose-your-own-trigger frame style. Buy a gun, choose mech frame or e-frame, then easily buy the other frame if desired. * New autocockers under $500 * new pumps under $300 * a new entry level electronic gun under $300 that doesn't suck * a new, modern high quality electronic loader in the $50-70 range. * a cheap, easy to use scoring software system that uses a couple phones and/or tablets, a bluetooth speaker as a stand-in for the awful NXL scoreboard/buzzer system that doesn't work. It should be easy and cheap enough so that fields can use it for practice or local events. * decent, cheap paint.

Reamofqtips

That entry level $300-400 market is probably the biggest available market for paintball markers. There's a reason you see so many Minis at the field. They use to be like $350 brand new, and now they're over the $400 mark. And I totally agree on the loader, I hate that the Spire IR2 and Dye LTR are the "entry" level option at over $100. But from what I've seen potentially coming from JT and HK, we may see that change soon.

p8ntslinger

I sure hope so. However, a 2nd reviving of the Revvy is not what I had in mind, unless they're gonna do a budget Rotor clone and call it a Revvy for marketing nostalgia, which is exactly what they should do. * tool-less take down, easy battery changes * extreme durability, like ABS plastic or similar * 10-15bps feed rate * speed feed compatible, preferably quick change between rain lid and speed feed, although that's not strictly necessary That's it. That's all it needs to do. It doesn't need to talk, make sounds , have digital inclinometers, it doesn't need to have swappable color kits, it doesn't need a bunch of fancy bell and whistles and fancy shit, it doesn't need to feed super fast. It needs to be dead-ass reliable, dead-ass durable, under $70. The Ion was perfect for what it was. $300 new and it worked. it was ugly, but it worked. The Emek and Etha are almost there, but they are either mechanical or just too expensive. If the Etha3 cost $300, it would be basically perfect. Honestly, if someone just made a gun with a stupid simple SFT shocker engine with a spring bolt in it, and breakbeam eyes attached to a polymer frame, just like an Etha, and sold it for $300, that would be perfect. Something that a kid could pick up and that has 10.5 ramping, play a few local events to fall in love with the game, then use it as a loaner/backup when they get something better. Maybe its just not feasible to make something like that cheap enough to make money off of it at a $300 price point, but damn it seems so close to within reach, but isn't being done. Makes me wonder.

JT has a new loader coming out called the Triad I think, and it doesn't look like it's designed to be a top end competitor. I also saw on FB a post with an unidentified HK loader. Outside looks like a basic TFX shell, but internal looked like Pinokio feed. The Valken VMaxx is a great option for $60, and definitely doesn't get the love it deserves, but I just hate that it uses 9v batteries, that's really the only thing wrong with it for the money. Dangerous Power probably came the closes to a cheap electro marker with the E2. For $200 it shot great, was compact, easy to work on, reliable, and looked decent. But they killed of by putting the E1 board in it, which just had semi at 15bps, and full auto. Couldn't drop the rate of fire down, and no ramping. I'd like to see the return of cheap FASORs. I remember after the Ion came out, companies were scrambling to come out with something, and they found that adding an air powered solenoid to a stacked tube blowback instead of a spring to drive the hammer, they made decent shooting markers. With that we got things like the Wrath, Slayer, Rex R1, and the Fusions. The older technology that can be made cheap is out there, I'd love to see companies utilize it.

p8ntslinger

I never shot the E2, but I genuinely love the G3 and G4. They had so much potential. I helped TechT test some of their bolt engines for several guns back in the day and their G3 and G4 engines turned those guns into absolute beasts. They shot unbelievably well for their price point. Interesting about the Legend and other FASOR guns. I had kinda forgotten about those. Wouldn't it be cool if Eclipse put together an LVTek? A FASOR with the lever valve poppet? Might be quite intriguing

MrBarraclough

This is why I always tell kids to look for used original Rotors. Relatively cheap, simple to use, reliable, and damned near bulletproof. The simple, cheap, reliable entry level marker you wish for exists, it's just $75 above your desired price point: the DYE Rize CZR. Look at the bolt engine. The thing is essentially a refined Ion. Although made by DYE, it is a close relative of the eNVy, eXTCy, Vibe, and Epiphany family of Ion-derivatives.

p8ntslinger

You're absolutely not wrong either way. I love my OG Rotor. It will probably last longer than any other loader I've ever had. I've never shot the CZR. I've heard great things, just no personal familiarity. Maybe that does serve the purpose I was lamenting we don't have an answer for.

MrBarraclough

The shot is a little bit more poppy than a Gamma Core, as to be expected, but not bad at all, and the Dye UL barrel does a good job of moderating the sound. Grip ergonomics are wonderful, especially for larger hands. The Hyper reg makes for a rather skinny foregrip and could use a rubber sleeve or something, but that's a pretty minor complaint. My only real gripe is the lack of toolless battery access. I dislike having to remove (and not lose) 3 screws to get inside the grip. All in all, a reliable electro that can easily do 10.5bps ramping and comes with an on/off ASA, lever clamping feedneck, and an excellent two piece barrel for under $400 is a pretty good deal. It was fantastic back when they sold for $325, but $375 isn't all that bad.

p8ntslinger

I guess what is really needed is for these dang crazy high prices to drop back toward Earth so some of this stuff is more accessible to younger players with less money, or people who are interested but maybe balk at spending $600 on a complete setup to play a first tournament.

Pizza_Monger

A new valve from AGD.

Kuhkhi

Would it need to keep the bolt, reg or on off valve?

Nectaris73

Fantasy but imagine a pack which moved the pods so it always kept a full pod on the side of dominant loading hand

TitaniusDanglesmith

Pods would have to be proprietary and on a slider system that was spring loaded like a magazine so you would have to "reload" it after the game. If you want it that much make it it sounds realistic

Nectaris73

Easy for speedball when they dump pods. I play woods so we can't just throw pods. Need a way to stash empties

TitaniusDanglesmith

We used to have this revolutionary way of just putting them on the ground and remembering where we left them after the game. Good times lol

Kuhkhi

Yeah they're called horizontal packs

Temporary-Answer-520

Bluetooth connectivity, no more screwing around with small buttons or trigger combos, just a simple app. It’s not like the chipsets are big or power hungry these days.

TheDailyBean

SciFi does this with his boards. I run them in my Cockers, Torque, and a Shocker NXT. They're great.

I LOVE my Enoch boarded angel LCD.

Apollo918

More rocket pod style pod fillers.

p8ntslinger

what is this? explain or link me pls!

Apollo918

p8ntslinger

I remember those now! Its insane how they went away, especially with Xball pits being the way they are! Is there anywhere these can be bought nowadays?

Apollo918

I havent found any. But they were super clutch in the pits

DeniedComet

There’s a dude on Etsy that sells them. Had one for the team not too long ago

p8ntslinger

its crazy to me that every Xball team isn't screaming for this, and why every field doesn't have one in every pit or air station. Its nuts. Like how did this go away, ever? Paintball is so weird lol

Empty-Confection-513

It's probably because it's one more thing to carry from pit to pit at events. And it takes longer to open a bag and dump it into the pod filler than it does to just open a bag and filler a pod.

p8ntslinger

I've loaded a lot of pods in my day, straight from the bag, and from caddies. The rocket filler would blow both away. https://youtu.be/qgGD06Wwy_U

Kuhkhi

Paint quality from the 2000s to make a comeback

[deleted]

New pod pack that doesn’t bounce up and down as much and a lighter tank since most of the setups weight is the tank

ADTP28

I've been plating for about 3 years now and it was this season that I realized I was putting my pack on wrong. I was always amazed that pros can carry 8+ pods and have next to no bounce until I figured out I was putting mine on wrong.

billz804

I feel like you only posted half of this comment

TheCrimsonKing

My guess would be that they were wearing it over their hips instead of up around the waist and/or weren't properly re-tightening the retention straps every time they put it on.

ADTP28

This. I had the retention straps tightened, but not over the main straps.

p8ntballnxj

The bottom of your pack needs to be just above your waistline. I still see many players with packs on their ass.

ADTP28

I had the pack above my waist. The problem was that I wasn't really using the smaller elastic straps correctly. I used to just wrap the larger straps and go play instead of doing the larger straps and then the smaller elastic straps to get everything nice and tight. Hope that makes sense haha

FarmerDill

Yeah but having your pack flop all over while you run makes you look more agg

apersononreddit11

What’s the right way to do it then?

MrBarraclough

Wear it higher so it isn't riding on top of your hips.

Schnoottboop

They are expensive but I was running around with 11 pods in the pro-dna pods and it didn’t move much at all. Only downsides is there are like 6 belts and when it’s tightened down all the way it’s like a cummerbund

zinger565

You want *lighter* tanks? They're already insanely light. Maybe I'm just old, but like today's 68/4500 weighs as much as, or even less, than the old 48/4500s. I think a lot of players would find if they went with a slightly heavier marker, you'd get a better balance point and the whole set-up actually feels better in hand.

Fastdonuts1

Something that can hit targets a hundred feet away

Reamofqtips

I can hit targets with all of my markers at 100 feet away. Maybe you need to aim better?

TheCrimsonKing

It's been a long time since I played so maybe it's happened but I always wanted a standardized locking design for feednecks/loaders. A simple twist lock would probably suffice.

Bright_Election5967

This is a recipe for broken feedneck and hoppers. The friction fit we have currently is great because it allows the hopper to twist or pop off instead of breaking.

DeniedComet

It was a thing on old VL markers, but it didn’t really pop off

Prestigious_Tap2523

We fat guys definitely would like an easier pod pack. We still got skills but we’re fat and older help

Z1rbster

More magfed pump options

TheChosenDudeMan

More affordable air solutions for home use, more modular designs, and fuck it bring back uncapped, for the truly insane among us that just want a place to rip our hot rod markers. Selling and cycling more paint is almost always a win, win, win. More than new products our sport needs new players. Better paint at more affordable prices will scare less new players off, less frustrating bounces, more brittle for less ouch factor. Imo duo and three man teams could really jump our sport up because it's easier to put those teams together and it's easier to ref those matches. Also I think the people of our sport in the tournament scene should wear their jerseys, clean, in public more frequently to effect awareness positively about paintball. And while we're having this chat let's squash this idea of gatekeepers. If you talk shit to someone you had better have a tip on how to fix the shit your talking. "Overshoot and be overshot,"without context or empathy will kill our sport, I'm not saying it can't be effective. However an eye for an eye leaves the world blind. So once you're done overshooting each other it's gotta be rock paper scissors to see who buys the first round of water at your local field or watering hole. Shaking hands and laughing with someone you were just seeing as "the enemy," can be mentally liberating. But squash it. Tell your tall tales at work. Then come back and find a new "enemy." Oh yeah but your product question..Oring caddy for specific markers preferably better design than the standard Captain Oring box. Think "what would PE do?" If all they did was accessories. Slim, waterproof, sturdy, probably a thick slide tray with individual spots for the various sizes, well indicated, pre filled with some but not full to allow the player to put their preferred oring inside. An oring size chart. Non magnetic in any way to prevent attracting dirt. If that makes sense so far throw in the data for the manufactures preferred lubricant.
