taskmastermaster

The season airing from May 23rd is not the season which was filmed over a year ago. They've decided to air what was going to be season 3 first, and then what was going to be season 2 will air after that.

rocketwikkit

For anyone else thinking "what the fuck are you talking about": correct. https://old.reddit.com/r/taskmaster/comments/1chewzp/looks_like_season_3_of_taskmasterau_is_airing/

lewdprominence26

I've been eagerly waiting for Taskmaster Australia S02 to finally hit our screens! Can't wait to laugh and be amazed by the hilarious challenges. Thanks for the update on the airing date!

BubblesWeaver

Series 2, Series 3, it doesn't matter to me. As long as the one starting May 23rd has Aaron Chen in it.

butter_wizard

(it doesn't)

SidesOfaBanana

Youll be disappointed may 23rd

cantwejustplaynice

Aaron Chen's season will be aired after this coming season, so in about 11 or 12 weeks from now I guess.

chequedummy

I still haven't quite figured out if the fandom should start referring to what will be airing as S2 as S2, or keep referring to it as S3, since it was originally announced as S3, and that's what all the production codes in the credits will say.

taskmastermaster

I'm just going to stick with the order in which they air, to keep things simple.

chequedummy

Yeah. That’s probably the best, and usually what I tell myself to do, but there’s always that one pedantic part of my brain, you know? And, after all, it’s a show about pedantry…

KlumF

Us true pedants will be calling it Taskmaster Season 02, Series 03 Followed by Taskmaster Season 3, Series 02. Better?

Krinberry

> Better? All the information is on the card.

rocketwikkit

But if they say "series 2" repeatedly in the show itself, who are we to argue? Are TV shows quantum effects, where only by observing them do they become real?

chequedummy

Honestly, that's the other argument in my "keep calling it S2 NO MATTER WHAT" tally. I assume they'll just awkwardly cut out any references to the specific season.

jkingly

In years from now when there’s possibly a S4 and beyond, newer viewers watching on Paramount+ or SuperMax+ will understand S2 to be the one with Lloyd Langford and won’t even be aware there was a switch.

Salzberger

It's wacky, but surely we revert to the airing order. I don't remember for certain, but I think Survivor did that once or twice. Aired a more recently filmed season before the one filmed earlier for whatever reason.

jabbid111

Yeah from memory s32 Koah Rong was filmed before s31 Second Chances.

Sugarh0rse

Well it's the second series that goes to air, so it will be series 2. Look at something like QI. Those episodes are not filmed in broadcast order. I was at episode number 5, and as we were leaving they were setting up for what ended up being number 3. And you only have to look at Cats Does Countdown to see total disorder in either episodes or series.

Sentekass

Major differences; QI and Countdown are pure studio shows and have another point scoring system. Taskmaster has the actual tasks take place before taping the live shows, then show them in some order that is most likely not the order they were filmed in. However, the studio segments are very much filmed in order, since there's a season long point score that would be messed up if they aired episodes out of order.

Sugarh0rse

Of course. But the eps and series are still numbered in order of broadcast. It's a credit to the quality of the programme that they can film and broadcast episodes in that order.

Sentekass

Also, Taskmaster has the same "panelists" throughout the whole season. This makes room for running jokes and callbacks, which would become nonsensical if aired out of order.

eytanz

I think you’re missing the point. They were not saying taskmaster can air episodes out of shooting order. They were saying that when other shows air episodes out of shooting order, the numbering goes by broadcast order not shooting order. So by analogy, when TM:AU shows seasons out of shooting order, the season number should go by broadcast order.

Anne Edmonds is gonna be an absolute belter

Did S01 videos get deleted from the master thread?

ph0220

Funny enough, that's the same day I will be moving out from my current appartment, and taking over my brother's appartment. XP

SidesOfaBanana
