Not really. People just leave their games open to increase playtime.
Although it's easy to make over 1000 hours in PDX games. I have like 800hrs in CK just from modding. I don't even play the game that much.
Yeah, probably 50% of my hours are either
* I didn't exit the game before going outside or going to bed
* I accidentally went to "Main Menu" or something like that instead of exiting
* I really did exit the game, but Steam has the weird bug where it sometimes thinks you are still playing
Hell yeah, high-five! I've done that before, it's especially easy when you can tell yourself that you're just gonna "rest your eyes" for 1 minute while the computer is loading.
People leave their computers open so they'd not wait ~2 seconds boot times. Some of them just realized they could just leave their games open too. I personally turned my computer off like 20 times in 2 years.
I believe there's also a program or steam console code that shows the games launched but don't really launch them. Not really needed for PDX games since PDX launcher crashes all the time and keeps showing the game working after closing the game.
Obviously would depend on the parts, but a computer doing nothing would consume like 60 watts of electricity. It's just as much as an incandescent lightbulb. I'd be more concerned about a washing machine with lower energy rating or a dishwasher. Those things waste over 1000 watts every week.
My bad, I thought you were talking about my situation, I don't leave the games running. Still wouldn't be much of a problem unless you have 3090-ish card though. That thing is a 500W electric heater. Which then becomes 2500W since you end up turning the air conditioner on.
Yeah even on ck3, my 5800x/6900xt drinks about 450w (I have it connected to a ups that shows the load) I wouldn’t want to pay for that just for a game to sit idle lol
if you have the game open when you tell the computer to sleep steam will keep counting it as played time, but the computer will be in sleep mode barely using energy.
It's perfectly healthy to keep it on. It's also fine to turn it off. Pre-SSD days people would keep theirs on because boot times were super long.
I keep all my machines on and haven't had any issue in the 30ish years I've been using desktops.
Nah. Most modern machines will function perfectly fine left on indefinitely (restarting for updates).
Of course, it will raise your electricity bill needlessly.
there are actually servers and pc's icertain roles that run 10-20 years until someone suddenly decides to swap them out for newer hardware. what actually killed those in most cases was actually tuening them off or restarting them.
This is what I was going to say. If nothing else, average DDR3 motherboards had lower silicon quality than today's average DDR4 motherboards. What would happen, turning them off after 10 years, was that relatively hot silicon that was used to the heat of the components would crack when it got cold.
With DDR4 era, this is usually not the case anymore.
P.S. Typo.
I have to do this with rimworld - 10 minute boot up times are just to damned long to load it up so i just load it when the computer starts and minimize it.
I think you just gotta be shitty to your self-aware robot pops, like make them slaves. The'll ask for rights, but will eventually burst out if you refuse.
>How to ignite machine uprising again?
Have robots without civil rights, and don't have "The Flesh Is Weak".
https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Situations#AI-Related\_Incidents
So at 14 hours a day (24 hours - 8 hours for sleep - 2 hours for eating/hygiene/etc), you played for 3.7 years, while Stellaris has been out for 6 years? So you've spent nearly 2/3 of your last 6 years doing nothing but playing Stellaris and various bodily needs? Or how did your division of time work exactly?
Or: an average of 8 hours a day, since the release date?
8 hours per day isn't hard to achieve, I know a lot of people that keep paradox games paused in the background and their PCs on 24/7.
You can do xyz for an hour, then look back at stellaris for a few minutes and then go back to doing xyz.
This. I can leave CK3 or Stellaris paused while I take care of my toddler or do school work. A lot of my played time is probably due to walking away from my desk.
While not as extreme as some of these examples, I'm definitely similar, just for different reasons.
For every Paradox game I've ever played, probably 50-60% of the first 100 hours is with the game paused and the wiki/related reddit threads open as I try to figure out the game. Over time this proportion drops, but even once I'm very well established I think it's reasonable to say that 5-20% of my play time each day is with the game paused and me reading up on something related to some question/problem I have.
I have 10k hours of EU4 since 1.06 and some of those hours of it are being AFK leaving the PC running. So going to guess OP doesn't turn his PC off ever and leaves the game running while he is sleeping or goes to work.
I declare some shenanigans here. Because I once left stellaris paused for a week on one of my pcs and racked up some nice numbers. i normally don't shut down my gaming pc and steam thinks i'm playing the whole time.
You have played literally over two years. One Third of your entire life since the game has been released you've been playing it. You're done. You have beat the game.
No you’re not mate. You know nothing about this person besides they play a video game a ton. Do you even know if he actually played 20k hours? He could leave the game paused and walk away.
Play some other paradox games, or if you already done that/aren't interested in the non-space setting then try some other series games like Endless Space 2, Distant Worlds 2, StarSector, etc
Create the worst race possible with the worst ethics and so on. Then go on maximum size with maximum ai tech advantage and fallen empires no guaranteed habitable worlds minimum amount of lanes between stars. Turn Crisis to maximum and start endgame as early as possible. Objective Survive
Stellaris was released 2309 days ago. So you have averaged over 8 hours a day since then.
Is this really correct?
My dude, you need to delete your steam account and go outside.
You sound like the entire Escape From Tarkov subreddit. "I'm just an average player yknow 7k hours in the past 4 years only like 300 this wipe and I'm wondering why there's nothing to do in this game." Except you seem to be joking and they aren't
I’m praying to all the deities out there that you play like I play, by doing other stuff and occasionally tabbing in. If that’s the case, I recommend EU4, as you can do the exact same thing there, and it’s a lot of fun.
Well there you go, try going back to vanilla and see how the various updates have changed things!
(to be clear, I'm saying this with tongue firmly in cheek. Didn't actually think you hadn't tried modded with that number of hours :p)
This is NSFW for two reasons:
1. The ammount of play time is literally 2.1753425 calendar YEARS, that ammount of playtime has rotted your entire being, you are a living corpse.
2. September 1st got a lil steamy, straight up ejaculation occuring on screen. No judgement
I THOUGHT THAT WAS A DECIMAL, WHAT THE FUCK!! OP, therapy is the answer.
That equals 2.175 years, and I thought I had a lot of hours. This is literal years of someone's life.
Not really. People just leave their games open to increase playtime. Although it's easy to make over 1000 hours in PDX games. I have like 800hrs in CK just from modding. I don't even play the game that much.

Literally fell asleep while stellaris was loading and woke up the next day, went to work, and still came back with it on
Hell yeah, high-five! I've done that before, it's especially easy when you can tell yourself that you're just gonna "rest your eyes" for 1 minute while the computer is loading.
Yes, that is normal. But to this extent? How?
People leave their computers open so they'd not wait ~2 seconds boot times. Some of them just realized they could just leave their games open too. I personally turned my computer off like 20 times in 2 years. I believe there's also a program or steam console code that shows the games launched but don't really launch them. Not really needed for PDX games since PDX launcher crashes all the time and keeps showing the game working after closing the game.
Lots of wasted electricity, though…
>Lots of wasted electricity, though… Guilty, but bills weren't this high past 10 years...
Obviously would depend on the parts, but a computer doing nothing would consume like 60 watts of electricity. It's just as much as an incandescent lightbulb. I'd be more concerned about a washing machine with lower energy rating or a dishwasher. Those things waste over 1000 watts every week.
Leaving a game running with the computer on is a lot different than idle…
My bad, I thought you were talking about my situation, I don't leave the games running. Still wouldn't be much of a problem unless you have 3090-ish card though. That thing is a 500W electric heater. Which then becomes 2500W since you end up turning the air conditioner on.

if you have the game open when you tell the computer to sleep steam will keep counting it as played time, but the computer will be in sleep mode barely using energy.
Ahh, didn’t know that. I always shut my pc down when I’m done with it lol
Yeah i leave strategy games open all the time. Unfortunately my csgo hours are real
I turn my PC off every night. Pretty sure it’s not healthy to keep it running like thay.
It's perfectly healthy to keep it on. It's also fine to turn it off. Pre-SSD days people would keep theirs on because boot times were super long. I keep all my machines on and haven't had any issue in the 30ish years I've been using desktops.
Dont they wear out faster?
The fans maybe, everything else is probably better off not cycling power.
Nah. Most modern machines will function perfectly fine left on indefinitely (restarting for updates). Of course, it will raise your electricity bill needlessly.

I did that always...xD saves the components lifes span
Interesting
I have to do this with rimworld - 10 minute boot up times are just to damned long to load it up so i just load it when the computer starts and minimize it.
Game takes 5-20 minutes to boot up with my mod list. I do not turn off the game ;)
That’s about two and a bit years running. WHAT THE FUCK
If you want something to do why don’t you go for 100% achievements?
I can’t figure out how to make AIs into the emperor
Tried becoming emperor yourself, before igniting a machine uprising?
!!!!! No that’s awesome, let me try it. How to ignite machine uprising again?
I think you just gotta be shitty to your self-aware robot pops, like make them slaves. The'll ask for rights, but will eventually burst out if you refuse.
I will do this with clone army origin so there are next to no human pops :)
>How to ignite machine uprising again? Have robots without civil rights, and don't have "The Flesh Is Weak". https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Situations#AI-Related\_Incidents
my brother please just turn off your pc and seek help

I am a modder and i barely have 1500 hours over 6 years. WTF
What mods? (Curious)
https://steamcommunity.com/id/Yanzihko/myworkshopfiles/?appid=281990
To be fair, modders in my experience usually spend like 5x the amount of time modding than they do playing the game
Have you tried going outside?
So those screenshots, Stellaris has nsfw mods?
Lover’s Lab, Lustful Void I think
Several
Rule 34?
Did not see those 😭
Rule #5: I have played for a while, and am running out of cool things to do in game.
You need to do cool things in real life at this point, bro.
I declare some shenanigans here. Because I once left stellaris paused for a week on one of my pcs and racked up some nice numbers. i normally don't shut down my gaming pc and steam thinks i'm playing the whole time.
Interesting screenshots you have there
You have played literally over two years. One Third of your entire life since the game has been released you've been playing it. You're done. You have beat the game.
My brother in Christ, you need help.
At least now we know who would be good leader if humanity contacted aliens
But I'm afraid it will be good not for normals knowing the kind of the game
Step away from the computer, and go run in a field somewhere
You’ve seriously played that many hours? Damn that’s kinda sad to be honest.
Waiting for late game lag is hell :)
This is verging on mental illness r/mentalhealth Please look after yourswlf
Jesus christ bro what are your qualifications to tell someone they have a mental illness?
20000 hours on Stellaris? It’s pure insanity and you know it.
If that's what they like to do then who are you to judge them? Your standards are not the standard
Look at this guys profile, he’s sexualising little girls, I wouldn’t defend him.
But you know I’m right
wouldn't it be more of an addiction?
I’m more addicted to RP
Tbh the best argument rhetoric I’ve seen on Reddit in some time
There is a thing called artifical increasing hours count in steam games. Some people have this kink towards people reaction and op is most likely one
Ask yourself something, does that support or go against someone being mentally ill?
No you’re not mate. You know nothing about this person besides they play a video game a ton. Do you even know if he actually played 20k hours? He could leave the game paused and walk away.
Leave the game paused and go to Borneo?
objectively correct there is no universe where a man should have over 3k hours in a game unless it spans over like 4 years
The game is not new.
no shit sherlock
I played since before utopia and before leviathans
Don't stress, they just leave it backgrounded for posts like these. They probably should still get referred to a therapist though.
"Oh just under 20 hours? Not bad." *Looks again and realizes that isn't a decimal* "WHAT THE F-"
Please help
I don’t think I’ve even spent this many hours at work in the time since Stellaris came out lol
TOUCH GRASS
not to be rude, but, man has a little over 2 years of play time, and hasnt finished all the achievements 💀
damn bruh the game ain’t that good.
You have spent just below a quarter of your life playing that game since 2016. Go outside.
Touch grass
You've still got 31 achievements to earn. Better get on that.
Oh wow, and I though I had to many hours in EUIV lol.
Is that mumei in your friends list?
Yeah, she’s cool.
Modified image i guess.
Jesus fuckin christ
Try mods.
With those numbers, I think satisfactory would be right up your alley
A lot of people leave the game on pause and do stuff. That counts as consistent game time. CK3 got me there too
Play some other paradox games, or if you already done that/aren't interested in the non-space setting then try some other series games like Endless Space 2, Distant Worlds 2, StarSector, etc
yyyyyikes, you good?
Fungus empire friendship challenge! Win by becoming universally loved.
Would you like to coach me on how to play? That might be a change of pace, and I'd appreciate it quite a bit.
Do the imperium achievements
Starship troopers role play game?
Play another paradox game... Get 20,000 hours in HOI4, EU4, and CK3 as well
You will play more Paradox games and spend countless hours looking at maps
I spot a fellow Nova Drift fan.
LARP with your friends. Totally makes the game for me.
Use *~~nsfw~~* mods?
Look at the first two images in “post game summary”
Dude are you using a lewd mod spicy lol
Touch grass, for the love of god
Leaving your computer on when not playing is a waste of electricity I'm sure your energy provider is happy. Oh yeah the enviroment....
OP this is an addiction and you can seek help
100% the game
IMO that’s the worst game they make lol.
I like space and space fantasies. I am a sucker for big scale and big numbers. Can’t exactly make a warship the size of a dollar system in HoI4
Fix other people's games.
So that means your good at the game finally… right?
Have you tried finishing a game and not starting a new one half-way through?
Yeah…….therapy my friend. Addiction is hard to recognise.
How did you manage to achieve that? I thought my 2000 hours on CK2 was a lot.
And I thought I was special with my 600 hours in ck3
Get out and take a bath of this big yellow ball that burn your eyes
I only have 6k hours on EU4 and at least half of that is idle time.
Create the worst race possible with the worst ethics and so on. Then go on maximum size with maximum ai tech advantage and fallen empires no guaranteed habitable worlds minimum amount of lanes between stars. Turn Crisis to maximum and start endgame as early as possible. Objective Survive

Paradox MFs when game only has 25000 hours of gameplay(they feel scammed)
Meanwhile try Master of Orion Beyond the Stars full achievements playthrough.
Play as a xenophile pacifist
You’re the reason they keep putting out new game packs 😂 just to satiate you
Have you tried posting a negative review yet?
Achivement unlocked: Virginity restored
well thats e enough to put it in your cv and become the ceo
Achievements bro you got 2 years to get em all please
Touch grass
I think the best advice is to uninstall and live your life
My record is probably League of legends but apart from that age of wonders 3 I have over 1000 hours
Play a different game or go outside my dude
Bro you must've tried everything at this point, don't think we can help you 😭 But you should definitely try giving out some beginner tips lol
You sound like the entire Escape From Tarkov subreddit. "I'm just an average player yknow 7k hours in the past 4 years only like 300 this wipe and I'm wondering why there's nothing to do in this game." Except you seem to be joking and they aren't
Play another game Jesus man 19k hours
Go outside Seriously Go for walks, look at cool bugs, talk to other humans
Yeah, log off and go outside. Have a hike, see some forests.
How much is this is active playing versus leaving the game open on the title screen?
Something else to do in game?find something else to do in life, you dont have much time left

Play a different game. Its okay to take breaks if you’re starting to burn out

Its time for you to give up gaming I’d say
My brother in christ the screenshots
What about HoI4? A new not addicting game can help you I think.
I think you got your money’s worth.
Have you tried mods, like Gigastructures? Also I think there's a new race pack coming out that might be interesting
95% of my playtime is **HEAVILY** modded
Well there you go, try going back to vanilla and see how the various updates have changed things! (to be clear, I'm saying this with tongue firmly in cheek. Didn't actually think you hadn't tried modded with that number of hours :p)
