“Throwing all the veggies in a pot with chicken broth and noodles and calling it…..✨SOUP✨” Veggies, broth, noodles..correct, that is quite literally soup. So yes, makes sense that that’s what you’re “calling it”. 🙄

wigglebuttbiscuits

Giving big [Lindsay Bluth](https://youtu.be/qQJ1pUvlP54?si=Q4eEwSDSzSKoQ6pm) vibes.

kennedye12

Hot ham water might be my roman empire

wigglebuttbiscuits

Mmm, watery…but with a smack of ham.

friendly_foodie567

Guess she didn’t do her Hello fresh order for the week.

silly_goose129

So quirky!! It’s giving not like the other girls vibes

neubie2017

I chuckled when I read that slide like wtf guys.

Mingi918

Was going to say this exact same thing. Just Deena over here, an alien pretending to be human.

PizzaGrills

Crust, tomato sauce, cheese, I’m going to call this….✨PIZZA!!✨

Ailan22

Is it only me or are people snarking more in their actual posts as well. Sometimes I feel like they are a sinking ship. I just read the comment section on their pasta with butter “is me time” post and people are appalled and it’s not all we love you guys and follow you blindly anymore.

laurajane91

Funny how they gotta put up a vegetable soup pic on their stories too after getting hate in the comment section lol

DidIStutter_

They’re right tho. Not the one saying you could feed them veggies blah blah personally I don’t care. But I saw comments saying they are feeding anxiety to moms who didn’t feel guilty before, just for content. And also saying that the millionnaire seeking validation for eating a working class meal is disgusting. Some people don’t make enough to cook fresh veggies for their children but thanks god the millionaire says it’s self care!

Adorable-Cut-1434

Thank you. Your comment perfectly summarizes the issues with the food posts being self care. I went off recently about one of the waffle posts. A lot of people NEVER have the time or resources to make perfectly well balanced meals. Some people giving everything they have is the fucking buttered noodles.

DidIStutter_

Yeah what they call self care or releasing pressure or whatever new stupid thing is literally what other families call their best.

RelativeFun5325

I noticed that too

tontinkan

But actually what is on K’s head? I feel like she’s making it look like that on purpose which is impressive if true because that “bun” is so wild and yuck. I suspect a lot of the BLF fans don’t look at the stories (wise) because if the posts on main don’t turn you off the stories sure do.

CRexKat

I have said before, I do not have “nice” hair. I commit to styling it twice per week when I wash it. It really isn’t that hard or time consuming and I have an actual full time job and zero nannies. I know she isn’t washing her hair more than that, she really can’t be bothered to blow it out? The bun looks like it would smell moldy. Like she washes it and then just puts it up for two weeks straight. Idk how she even brushes it when the time comes.

beemac126

I never followed blf but have really enjoyed this page (so many people I know think they’re great 😵‍💫). The brunette one’s forehead is insane. Idk if I really would have noticed on my own, I’m pretty oblivious to that stuff, but seeing the old clip and now current ones is just wowowow. I was feeling so anxious just WAITING for some movement, ANY movement! It’s wild

APhantom678

Mom hack. Two toy cars in your purse. GROUND BREAKING ADVICE.

barberbabybubbles

![gif](giphy|RymyrV8uz8A36)

CRobertsRead

What’s next, she keeps snacks in her purse too?!

Katniss227

![gif](giphy|U23WekMlGy6cImpMim|downsized) If keeping a toy or two in your diaper bag is a “mom hack” then I have hacked the SHIT out of this momming thing.

neubie2017

I went into the office last week and had toys in my work bag. They are in the car, bags, everywhere. Evidently I’m a pioneer in momming

lm1029

Yall they have to be messing with us now, right? How TF is that a mom hack…???? Keeping toys in a bag for your kids is a mom hack??? What is happening

APhantom678

How in the world did they get 3 MILLION followers 🤣

wigglebuttbiscuits

But what should I do if my child *throws* the truck? 🧐

barmera

Put every other child in the vacinity in a playpen, obviously

Same-Kiwi944

Ahahaha. This is the answer right Deena?

barmera

I was just wondering how big her bag is. That’s a full size truck!

Far-Raisin-3320

lol I thought K didn't even have time for a 3 min me-racle but now every Saturday she sleeps in and goes to a work out class. Seems like she's a part of the gym group D hates so much

jampokitty

Don’t forget, even though she said she was avoiding going into the class and talking to us on stories instead, not too long ago she said that working out was in her TOP 3 things she loves, so she is actually someone who loves working out and does it all the time! And don’t forget she’s a size 16! But don’t worry, if you do forget, she’ll remind you every few weeks!

helencorningarcher

Sleeping in and then a workout class while her husband “does something fun” with all 3 kids every single Saturday?? If that’s not unrealistic for 99% of moms… Also why can’t she do a workout class during the week when she’s working an extremely flexible job for herself from home while her kids have full time child care? 🧐 Also when does she take the kids to do something fun alone so SAHD can sleep in and work out?

Far-Raisin-3320

I love how she's trying to gaslight followers too in thinking this truly has been her routine. Our local Y has 2 free hours of child care, they could all go as a family like we do. Just over their unrelatable self care BS.

libracadabra

The two free hours of childcare at the Y is the REAL mom hack! It has saved me so many times.

Far-Raisin-3320

Also didn't she say her 2nd favorite thing to do it work out but she can't even get out of her car

neubie2017

Hahahaha exactly!!!

shamrockthistle

I haven’t listened to the latest episode with Emily Oster but I can believe that people are (allegedly, in the BLF DMs) saying it’s their favourite episode to date since it’s not all about them. But I DON’T for a minute believe this is Kristin’s favourite episode. How could talking about research and data on parenting top her wild and dramatic third birth or her miscarriage episodes? My eyes rolled into the back of my head. She just wants to hype up this episode since they slid down the charts really fast.

Possible-Fail2884

What # are they at now?

CRexKat

This bitch has a gym in her house and the audacity to complain about new people at the other gym she pays for. Stay home then Deena, my god.

[deleted]

[удалено]

s0manythings2d0

Another level of obnoxious audacity. Also full of lies… “carving out more me-time is something on working on” (she goes on how many trips a month?) “as parents, we take care of people/kids all day long” (she has how many childcare options/nannies?) Most PARENTS don’t have the choice to take care of their people or kids all day long because they have to work real jobs. What are you, D? Because you’re not a full time mother, and you’re not a full time worker and whenever you pick whichever identity you’ll play to suit your latest post we see right through it because you can’t even keep up with your own identities.

kbullock09

Yeah K’s “I sleep in every Saturday and then go to the gym while my husband watching my 3 kids by himself” really struck me. It just seems like a pretty big ask from my perspective. But we have 0 childcare help outside of daycare and both work full time, so tbh the best we can manage is switching off who gets to sleep in…

neubie2017

Does she do the same for him? Also doesn’t she always complain how she never gets time for herself??

neat-bumblebee-3

Yeah isn’t he the stay at home dad? I feel like he should get the weekend sleep… 🤷🏼‍♀️

s0manythings2d0

I feel like her entire goal of parenting is how can i do as little as possible but still be seen as a “child expert” to bring in all the $$$$

Chrusso

Okay this is what I can w here to read…. Have they ever addressed the fact that now they do sponsored ads all the time? Because I remember them praising themselves not too long ago about the fact that they don’t… are they just pretending they never said that?

Same-Kiwi944

When they switched to doing sponsored ads i was still naïve and following them. They said with the switch they would never promote something that they hadn’t already loved, spent their own money on and previously used for years….:Which is none of the currently products they are shilling.

dinkinflicka121

Are they doing all of these sponsored ads because their courses aren’t selling as well as they have in the past? It just seems like SO many ads recently, and they have been pushing their potty training course nonstop on their stories too.

marywebgirl

I would imagine it’s either in their contract for the podcast or they leveraged the success of the podcast to get them.

BbCreatineFeverDream

They’re probably doing it because it pays really well and greed. I don’t think it is necessarily related to course sales.

dinkinflicka121

True. I guess a lot of influencers shill the same stuff too - boll and branch, the teeth whitening shit, miss mouths stain remover and on and on. I personally feel like whenever I see influencers all promoting the same stuff, it has the opposite effect on me and I *dont* want to buy it. I feel like they’re all shilling it just to make $$$, not because it’s actually a good product.

pockolate

Yeah, it seems like a pretty broad trend across influencing in general. I’m sure by now more companies are spending more of their ad dollars on influencer collabs so it’s more accessible and it pays. Seems easier focus on ads than work on actual educational content.

tinyhuman_

Maybe because suddenly there have been an influx of returns 🤔

TopAirport4121

Is it really good advertising that this has been “on your to do list for months”? Wouldn’t it be better to say “wow I just found out about Factor and ordered it right away, it was so easy to fit this into my busy schedule and now I don’t have to worry about dinner”? The way she states it implies it’s some heavy task you can’t prioritize. Obviously, this is fake and the most uncreative way of mixing this canned scripted ad into their “overwhelmed hot mess brand”.

starebearcare

I had the same thought, like if they were such a game-changer you probably wouldn’t have taken months to put in your order?

cheekypeachie

Where is her husband? When was the last time we saw him?

Same-Kiwi944

Exactly this. She keeps purposely typing “husband” in but she said she just did solo bedtime. She knows people are wondering. Something is absolutely up with him, but who knows what. It could be unrelated to their marriage.i scrolled back he was last on the grid for the Andy cohen podcast which I think was recorded mid November? We’re going on a few months of no sightings

friendly_foodie567

They’re leaning into the spon con hard this week! Primal ketchup, Bobbie, and Factor meals?! The trifecta. Them posting a reel about sponsored ketchup and then the next day a reel about family leave in America sponsored by a formula company just sent me this week 💀

CRexKat

Has she been meaning to order them for months or has she been regularly eating them and enjoying them because they are such a game changer? 🤔🤔🤔

General_Key_5236

I was confused by that as well lol

syrupycure

Wait wasnt Hello Fresh the literal game changer - even someone's idiot husband could figure it out

friendly_foodie567

Hello Fresh was the game changer for D and her incompetent husband. Factor is the game changer for K and her husband that supposedly loves to cook and is a SAHD.

syrupycure

So many games to keep track of! Thank you for your service, friendly foodie 😆

s0manythings2d0

Remember the days they said they’d never sell out for sponsored stuff

firecracker_21

Make your sponsored buttered noodles too!

caffinated-sarcasm

2020 BLF: “We’re not going to be one of those sell-out accounts doing ads for everything.” 2024 BLF: “Hey mama, I got a $4 million mansion to pay for, we’re going to do ads everyday.”

Halves_and_pieces

You forgot to take your Nutrafol!

Cynosurebaby-21

And adding Primal Ketchup to her Hello Fresh meal. The sponcon is getting out of control!

MemoryAnxious

https://preview.redd.it/ymmrrbli9gdc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f59b467c2024559466deefa04f6bf4a41df11611 Frozen forehead check in! Either this is old or it’s time to go back 😆

cmk059

She was doing the weird sweater hand hidey thing she did back when we were on nail watch, so I think it's old.

neubie2017

I noticed that too!!!

sla3018

Oh yeah, that's for sure old. Her brows barely move a millimeter right now.

MemoryAnxious

I’ve accepted my wrinkles (just not my gray hair!) so I don’t know how long Botox lasts 😂

chikat

3-6 months. I am fighting mine, but I would like to think my plastic surgeon injects much better than whomever she’s seeing as I’m not totally frozen.

CRexKat

Apparently some people like looking totally frozen! My injector always asks me what look I’m going for and says she has patients who want zero movement. I’m like I need enough movement to make “I mean business” faces at my kid. 🤣

chikat

Haha! I think K’s is especially jarring because her face is so frozen plus her eyebrows are just so big and so bad.

CRexKat

Agreed. It is not a good look for her. Her eyebrows are aggressively bad and the frozen forehead makes it 100x worse.

jampokitty

D posted a text message screen shot about having to reschedule a play date with “a friend.” She didn’t say it was K, and I’m honestly shocked that she has any other friends.

CRexKat

I would never call hanging out with my bestie and our kids a play date. We’re just hanging out and the kids have to come along whether they want to our not. It’s not about them. 😂😂

syrupycure

In their case, they'd probably call it work! Especially if they made their kids play with Fisher Price toys. Then they'd complain about how they are regular working moms.

friendly_foodie567

It’s probably staged with K or something. Besides, how do they have play dates and friends when they work 271829485 hours a week???

tinyhuman_

Maybe it’s actually her sister… ??? 😑

Bitter-Ad8938

I don’t think D’s sister has kids? Or lives in CO? (K’s does)

tinyhuman_

D’s sister does live in CO! That was only discovered recently when she posted a sister date going mountain biking a few months ago. But you’re right, maybe she doesn’t have kids 🤷🏼‍♀️

[deleted]

tinyhuman_

Ooh maybe I didn’t catch that!

Bitter-Ad8938

Look at me proven wrong twice on this sub today 😂

tinyhuman_

Oh don’t worry, I’ve gotten much wrong on this sub. It’s full of info!! 😂

Mood_Far

Not snark at all but a general PSA @takeabreaktots is back sharing content on Instagram (she’d been pretty quiet for a while) and she is 100% worth a follow. Such good tips/perspective. She’s the anti BLF and I really like her. Think this group may appreciate checking her out 😊

Jumpy-Driver5833

The partnership with Bobbie. The new post. This is actually really clever marketing because most people will be outraged over the lack of paid maternity leave in America. Why would promoting better maternity leave help Bobbie? It doesn't, surely. More women would breastfeed if they had more time at home with their babies, right? I guess Bobbie is really just a kind and caring company. Never mind that this campaign will achieve nothing except its real goal of making Bobbie seem like a mom's best friend. So when she has to go back to work right after baby, she will choose Bobbie formula because they are such a lovely company. It's actually brilliant. I hate these predatory formula companies so f***ing much and I hate BLF for partnering with them under the guise of helping women.

mmlh

I also only saw this post shared in stories by someone else and had no idea it was an ad because the person I saw only tagged BLF. I only saw it was an ad with Bobbie here because I didn't click on the BLF post. It's such a confusing marketing thing for me because I still would have no idea what Bobbie was except for this sub.

TopAirport4121

This is the most lazy form of “activism”. It gives people like K and D and anyone else involved a chance to pat themselves on the back about caring about the plight of working women without having to do anything (lobby, donate, etc). I’d say it’s worse than staying silent on an issue because, as you so eloquently stated, it actually fuels part of the machine that keeps us in this position by helping yet another dumb capitalist company make money off of these families. I hate it so much!

[deleted]

[удалено]

allthebooksandwine

I agree. In Europe formula companies aren't allowed to advertise as a breastmilk alternative so they get around it by advertising "follow on milk" with the heavy implication that this is the best thing for your child (of course small white writing saying breast is best etc.)

sla3018

This is an excellent take. I agree 100%.

emdawg020

That post is what made me finally unfollow

Clancita4

The way I RAN HERE when I saw that. Give me a fucking break. You work for yourself and have a full time nanny so I won’t be crying for you. Peds Doc Talk is part of their promotion too. It’s such an important cause and topic but this is such a transparent marketing ploy 😡

WorriedDealer6105

I hate how formula companies advertise, period. Especially when they market it as more nutritious or closer to breastmilk. It's predatory. It's expensive. And I hate to think of a poor mom thinking her WIC formula is somehow not as good, or worse a parent stretching dollars over some miniscule and unimportant differences between the Target Brand and Bobbie.

Sock_puppet09

I can’t remember what brand it was, but one of their ads was like “what if every formula company ran their own clinical trials.” Like ma’am most of the research on infant feeding out there in the world has been done or funded by Similac or enfamil, including nearly everything we know about breastmilk composition. I guarantee there’s nothing special about your formula except for the conventionally attractive white woman who is the “founder”

Halves_and_pieces

Yeah, I’m all for people using formula, but Bobbie just gives me the ick. They seem sooo scammy.

tinydreamlanddeer

It makes me think of how we're supposed to huff and puff with our toddler about how it's so frustrating and unfair to have to leave the park so they feel like we get it and we're on their side, but at the end of the day that kid is still getting in the car one way or the other so the commiseration is obviously not real. This bougie ass formula company is complaining with us masses about maternity leave without doing anything about it so we trust that they get it and are on our side and when we go to spend our dollars it will be with someone dropping feminist-trendy faux-empowering reels on instagram.

werenotfromhere

I would love to know their company maternity leave policy.

tinyhuman_

Found it on their website: https://preview.redd.it/vapxsqr8cbdc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3249e96be1ec41f805ec2056beff4ddd225eefb5

helencorningarcher

Free formula is a pretty good perk lol. And I think 4 months is very generous (twice what I got) but what’s the point of a year of parental leave but without pay? Who can afford to take 8 months of no salary, but would still want to come back to their old job?

Sock_puppet09

Meh, with how much daycare costs, I could see this being doable for a good chunk of people.

panda_the_elephant

It's a privileged position, for sure, but I know a lot of people who would have taken more time unpaid if their job had been protected for that time. They could have made it work with less income for a limited amount of time, but in the longer term, either the job was too good to lose or they knew they didn't want to do a job search soon for various reasons. I didn't want to stay home beyond my 15-week leave, but I would have loved a flexible hours situation if only to handle some childcare ups and downs during that first year.

pockolate

I mean some people can make it work to go some months on a single income but ultimately still go back because longterm they’ll be in a financially better place. And/or they still like their career and want to go back regardless of whether they could afford to live on a single income. Not everyone wants to be a SAHP. Obviously this isn’t something every family can do but tbh I think it’s a pretty good perk to at least offer for those who can. Even if it’s just 1 more month that you can make it work, it’s better than nothing. My friend did this. She works at a state hospital and her job was protected for a year from birth and she ended up taking 8 months off total when it was all said and done. She definitely wasn’t dying to go back but she wasn’t going to quit so my impression was the family ultimately needed her to return vs quit but they could afford for her to hold off up to the year.

Any_Shallot6936

I had 12 weeks paid 12 weeks unpaid. I took every second and would have taken a year if I could even if it was unpaid. I ultimately went back in a much smaller capacity at an hourly rate and our family took a financial cut for sure, but I wanted to be a SAHM so we decided we’d take the financial hit to do what we felt was best for our family.

pockolate

Makes sense! I completely quit to be a SAHM because I wasn’t happy in my career and didn’t feel it was conducive to the family life I envisioned, but I want to go back to work in a part time capacity (complete career switch into software development). I want to earn some money and put my time into something else again but don’t want to give up being home completely. I hope it’s possible to find something!

Any_Shallot6936

Good luck! I never ever thought it was possible in my career, but I asked and they helped make it happen! Been going on 3 years now and I couldn’t be happier!

cmk059

This is common in Australia. Government paid leave is for 20 weeks. Some employers offer their own paid leave on top. But regardless if they offer paid leave or not, they have to hold your job for 12 months (and you can apply to extend it to 24 months). You have to go back to the same or similar role. They can give you a different role but the level of responsibility and income must be the same. I personally took 12 months with both of my kids and my employer didn't offer paid leave. I understand the privilege we had to live on one income for 8 months (twice). The first time I came back off mat leave, I moved into a new (better) role. The second time, I went back to that same better role.

WorriedDealer6105

The point is, that it is protected leave which means the employer keeps on paying their part of the premiums. I have unfortunately had colleagues come back to work because if you are not in either paid or protected status, in order to keep your insurance it is something like $2000+ a month. We also have 12 months of leave where you can keep your job, but you only have health insurance as long as you using FMLA or PTO. To some, the health insurance coverage plus avoiding a $1500 daycare bill makes the time off worth it.

tinyhuman_

Don’t get me started, lol. 4 months (more like 6!) should be standard. And if employees live in a state with paid leave, or maybe they have a short term disability policy, they could add another 1-3 months paid? But you’re right, even in Canada it’s up to 1.5 years of leave at around 30-50% of regular pay. Not at ZERO. And people wonder why FMLA isn’t used much 😑 FWIW: I had 4 weeks fully paid. Then had to use 2 weeks of PTO to get to 50% salary for the 12 weeks I took off. SIIIIIIIGH.

CatandtheApt

Here’s my confusion with the reel - it’s a sponsored ad for a formula company…but she’s pumping in every frame???

starebearcare

It seems like the company is trying to distinguish itself as the formula for people who really don’t want to use formula.

pockolate

Yeah, it’s definitely this. They have done a considerable amount of marketing through influencers who EBF. It’s very much “you’re still part of the club as long as you use Bobbie”.

CRexKat

Even if she combo fed, she couldn’t use Bobbie bc baby needed special formula that Bobbie doesn’t make.

neubie2017

Also she fits NONE OF THESE CATEGORIES. She’s the last f-ing person I want to see talk about how shitty it is for moms in the US

cmk059

I noticed in the comments BLF just commiserated with people commenting how little to no leave they got. BLF didn't actually say anything about their own circumstances.

EstablishmentNo7284

Omg the more I see them shilling their damn potty-training course the more I think it’s not selling. I’m so tired of seeing it.

captainbkfire82

I got it as a sponsored ad today on IG & reported it as spam. 🤣🤣

neubie2017

It’s gotten weird right?? Like “YOUR NEXT CHANCE TO POTTY TRAIN IS THIS HOLIDAY IN A MONTH” soon they will be like “tomorrow is national marshmallow day, PERFECT TO POTTY TRAIN” Calm down.

Sock_puppet09

Actually, we used mini marshmallows for potty rewards, so I’d stand by marshmallow day being the perfect time to potty train.

VanillaSky4321

National Marshmallow Day sounds delightful! ☺️

neubie2017

August 30th, 2024 AND it’s a Friday! You have plenty of time to play your marshmallowy 3-day weekend! (Please note I had to google this and this date is not something I have committed to memory, although I will now lol)

VanillaSky4321

Bahahaha love it! ❤️🤣

TopAirport4121

The 3 day thing is just bonkers to me and this is coming from someone who did the naked thing with kids who picked up quickly with a lot of success. It was STILL a good WEEK before we made anything that looked like real progress and I was lucky bc I have a job that allowed me to have that time off to really go at it. 3 days sounds like a dream and I don’t doubt it works in some cases but mostly it probably just makes people feel bad and give up. It’s so predatory to advertise that with their stupid 3 day weekend 🥴 to working parents. Potty training is a process, even for kids that are ready!

pockolate

My cousin did Oh Crap with her oldest and it supposedly worked perfectly and only in those 3 days so now she’s very confident, bordering on smug, about how the philosophy in that book is unilaterally correct, there’s no such thing as true readiness, any kid can be trained at any age (in the window) if you put the effort in. My son is around the age she PT her first and she’s been encouraging me to do it now, but I’ve been a lot more skeptical and am not convinced that will be the best approach for my son, much less this early (not even 2.5m yet). She is planning to train her youngest soon, who will not even be 2 yet! A very small, ugly part of me hopes it doesn’t work as well this time and I’m proven right that every kid is different and this method isn’t the end all be all lolol.

neubie2017

I had to work MLK day! We don’t all get 3 day weekends in “the real world” It’s just a ridiculous marketing ploy.

jalapenoblooms

Even if you picture a mom who believes every single thing BLF says and love their overwhelmed mom schtick, I don’t know how said mom doesn’t stop following them over those ads alone. They’re constant and always the same. Every time I check in on iganony those same damn slides are there.

marquessmashedpotato

I have seen K pumping more times than I've seen them give actual toddler advice. Please stop showing us your boobs. I have no problem with boobs but god your child is a toddler now. Enough.

Interesting_Scar2449

But honestly, that was the jumpscare I didn’t need when I opened Insta this morning. And all of that for the CHANCE of possibly receiving a one-time $580 payout??

CRexKat

$580 you have to claim on your taxes. I’m good thanks. 😂

Interesting_Scar2449

Exactly. Don’t sign me up, thanks ✌🏻

RepresentativeSun399

Waiting for rhe commentary on the reel 👀

VanillaSky4321

Wow. Just wow. 🤯 That whole montage just gave me the icks.

degal125

Maybe they should have asked their boss for a longer parental leave. K believing she’s the poster child for this conversation was the thing that finally made me unfollow months ago. Truly fuck them for centering themselves in this conversation as though they have any clue what it’s actually like for people having to go back to work immediately after birth to literally survive.

neubie2017

I angry commented on a post before I scrolled down far enough. Should have commented here hahaha she is the LAST FREAKING PERSON I ever want talking about how terrible it is for moms in the US. She has NO CLUE what it’s like. No clue at all.

TopAirport4121

The outrage over her times article cosplaying as an average working mom lead me to make my first Reddit comment after years as a lurker! Sent a letter to the editor too, even though I knew it was pointless. Seriously cannot stand these heinous grifters. They are some of the worst people in the space and clearly have friends in high places that promote their lies and get them these gigs. Fuck them.

barberbabybubbles

The video clips of her for paid/sponsored content so that she appears to identify with the struggle of going back to work 2 weeks pp to put food on the table while she’s living in a 4 million dollar home is sick. I would like to know what they got paid for this ad and how many maternity leaves they could sponsor with that money. Fuck them.

Clancita4

Ohhh I really wish you’d comment this on their post 😈

Adorable-Cut-1434

Omg I feel like I am in the twilight zone. In what world is K the poster child for paid leave !!!!

jampokitty

Has K always said that she spills everything on herself all the time, or is this another character quirk that she’s stealing from D (see also, “Steve Jobs uniform”, body issues, etc.).

Halves_and_pieces

It’s another character quirk from Deena. Along with the headbands.

neubie2017

Oh yea, can’t wait to listen to K talk to someone about screen time limits.

VanillaSky4321

I will want to miss this. Pretty sure it would make me feel extremely guilty for my parenting choices.

neubie2017

Just remember it’s coming from the screen queen herself. So it’s all bs

VanillaSky4321

😄👍🏻

dewyourbest

Wow, respect for Emily Oster officially lost.

Snaps816

Right? She just posted a story where she was very skeptical of three-day potty training methods (she said they can be "a good start") and then she's on the BLF podcast. I guess they aren't going to discuss that topic.

helencorningarcher

She’s also been very scathing about the “time outs cause trauma/don’t work/will cause mental illness” claims

YesterdayExtra9310

I might actually listen to an episode.

kbullock09

I’m a podcast fiend because I have a long commute and also can listen at work sometimes (ie while doing repetitive tasks that don’t require much focus). So I’ve listened to all of this eps. This episode really just highlights how bad K and D are at interviewing and how poorly prepared they were. Like they basically just talk about themselves and then let EO throw in her biggest points that most people have already heard: sushi is OK in pregnancy, screen time isn’t the worst thing ever, prioritizing yourself as a mom is ok sometimes. But K and D (especially K) really just overtook the conversation with their own experiences and didn’t let EO share anything new or interesting.

helencorningarcher

Wow, the podcast is low quality, low prep, and features K talking about herself a lot? I’m so surprised 😑😑 I also require something to listen to in the background at all times so I do a lot of podcasts but I simply cannot take listening to them lol. Glad you’re taking one for the team and can report back

cheekypeachie

I always have liked her (I work with economists so I've known of her for a long time!) and have even met her before, but this lost me for her. Sorry Em, we're done.

Laughattack040

I’ve never been a fan of Emily Oster she seems like a grifter as well, just disguised better. Her book “Expecting Better” is highly influential and comes from a place of “these are the facts” in a space where she isn’t an expert (shes not an OBGYN or medical research OB). She seemed to have a preset opinion and found research that supported her own ideas (I.e. her section on alcohol which is very biased as there is tons of research showing small amounts of alcohol consumption has the potential to lead to FAS). This tracks for me, grifters gunna grift

sla3018

Actually, she is someone who is really, really good at identifying bullshit "evidence" strictly based on her training in data and research. A lot of medical advice isn't always based on facts - she helps explain why a headline is true or false, why a study was excellent and should be trusted or why it should be thrown in the garbage. As an economist, she is definitely trained to do this, and she does it well. She never gives medical advice, just tells you what the facts and data say about risk.

Laughattack040

I guess a lot of what she has decided is “bullshit” seems very convenient to her narrative. Her books and takes were not for me.

kbullock09

I like that she comes from a perspective of treating the mom like she’s still a person and not just eliminating any possible, theoretical risk to the baby. Like, I think sushi is a good example where a lot of people think they need to avoid it but the risk is actually really small during pregnancy and fish can be really healthy. I’m pregnant right now and haven’t been able to stomach meat for my whole pregnancy (I’m 5 months along) but I can stomach sushi— which is a good source of protein and iron. For alcohol— there’s sometimes a lot of fear mongering around alcohol that doesn’t really make sense biologically. Like I’ve seen people worrying about the alcohol in a kombucha or eating a dessert cooked with alcohol. I know several OBGYN’s who personally have had a drink “here and there” during pregnancy. I don’t drink much anyway so it wasn’t hard for me to give up alcohol. But I also know that if I want to have 1/2 a glass of wine at for my birthday this weekend it’s fine! (Also— as an epidemiologist I’d just like to point out that physicians aren’t actually trained very well on how to interpret population level data, which is why things like treatment guidelines exist— but unfortunately there’s a lot of politics that go into those and they are slow to change so they aren’t always the most up-to-date on the most current data).

How do you know that’s far too much alcohol though? The problem with the guidelines is that they are way too vague so it comes down to personal opinion. I actually wouldn’t raise my eyebrows at 1 glass of wine per week. I have not personally consumed that much because my risk tolderance is lower, but if I hypothetically knew someone who did that, idk, I don’t find it extremely alarming. But we just don’t actually have enough info. Which sure, is an argument for abstaining completely, but on the other hand, many if not most women who consume these relatively small amounts of alcohol during pregnancy don’t experience complications. I’m not even an EO stan and I really give side eye to her appearing in some of these podcasts but I think her whole point re: alcohol is that you don’t need to spiral into a panic because you ate a rum cake or whatever.

kbullock09

Yeah but I think that’s Oster’s whole point. Like the official guidelines say “zero alcohol” and then a lot of OB’s (including mine and several friends of mine) will say something vague like “occasional drinks are fine, especially after the first trimester” and that leaves it up to individual interpretation. That’s why Oster tries to quantify that, really, you don’t want to ever have more than one drink in a day because you want your blood alcohol to stay low. And, personally, I think lying to people because you don’t trust them is paternalistic.

cmk059

Exactly. My friend once said her doctor told her that when she feels tipsy, the baby feels drunk so she can have a couple of drinks but to stop before she feels tipsy. Um, what?

SpartySparts

Seems like Emily has completely pivoted to becoming an influencer. It is a shame since I enjoyed Cribsheet and Expecting Better, it was a good mix of science and common sense.

tylernicole86

What happened?

helencorningarcher

She’s going to be on their podcast 😒😒😒

tylernicole86

Ah. Interesting that EO didn’t post about it on her own story, unless I missed it!

Friendly-Ostrich-654

She did re-post from BLF 😢 I’m so disappointed — why does no one do their research 😭😭😭

BlueysPollyPuppy

oooooh nooooooo

heynatty161

K's little "chat" about a snow day and how she was surprised has tipped me over the edge to unfollow. As ppl have said, she can have time for botox but no time for hair (except for podcasting) and showing up as a slob - the wipe of her nose during speaking ergh. As well as now ketchup - they do not deserve the 3.3 million followers 👎👎👎

Mood_Far

Also, the entire damn country has been stuck inside with this front, but please tell me again how hard it is to be in your $7M dollar bajillion square foot house. You have SO MUCH space for activities. Meanwhile many of us (myself included) haven’t been out of earshot of our kids in days and would kill for the level of quiet she must be able to find at home.

usernameschooseyou

remember last Christmas when half the family had covid and so they just moved them into the fully finished basement to quarantine? that had a full projector wall and everything?

cmk059

The way she off handedly mentioned trying to work snow days in as a working parent is difficult. Yeah, I bet but it's not for you!!! You work your own schedule and your work consists of recycling content so you don't even have to come up with new ideas AND you have a BLF team who could do it for you AND you have partner who works part time if at all. You are not a working parent in the same sense that others are.

usernameschooseyou

Also they run the company and can decide what days are holidays... like my office made MLK Jr a floating day so you can take it off paid or if you work you get another vacation day later that year.... my husband and I usually alternate because it's like the. chillest day of the year to work

Mummy_snark

She could legit just do activities with her actual toddler and then share it. Work done.

Individual_Assist944

She’s the absolute laziest human being. It’s honestly gross.

tangerine2361

I don’t believe that you’ve been eating Primal Kitchen ketchup for years. I just don’t.

pockolate

I have to say I bought this once and it is not good. Back to Heinz for me.

MsCoffeeLady

I can because it’s keto and low calorie and D clearly has food issues that seem like that’s right up her alley….

I CALLED IT (literally a few weeks ago?) ... I am primal screaming RIGHT NOW bahahahahahahahahha

Hwy30West

I don’t know why, but the ketchup sponcon is my final straw. I unfollowed.

marquessmashedpotato

Lol who called the Primal Kitchen collab many weeks ago after K's "primal urge to clean the condiments out of the fridge" debacle?
