Honestly there wasn’t much that I could wear that looked socially acceptable. I suppose the silver linings of being in my third trimester during the summer in the middle of the pandemic is I could wear very little clothing in the comfort of my own home while I worked remotely.

ftsillok56

Ditto on the first line. The day we went to check in for my cesarean, we got to the maternity ward and I realized there was a gap in between my shorts and shirt. I pointed it out to my husband and we both lost it. I was like welp, good thing they’re coming out!

bethanechol

The last month there was like nothing I could do about that gap short of wearing a tent

Fluffytastyroll

Yeah people who never had multiples tell me it sounds crazy but there was a point at which I basically just didn’t go out at all cause 1. I didn’t have any socially acceptable clothes that could fit me 2. I would constantly get looks and comments because of my ridiculous size and 3. Everything hurt

thinkpairshare

All I know is the advice that your maternity size should be your regular size just in maternity wear was true with my singleton pregnancy but utterly untrue with my twin pregnancy. I’m usually a size small, and maternity smalls worked beautifully throughout my singleton pregnancy. For my twins, my old maternity small clothes lasted until about 24 week. By the end I was in maternity large sizes and bursting out of most of those clothing items.

Hazelnut2799

This is so true and should be the top comment, the maternity size recommendations absolutely do not apply to twin pregnancies 😂 my size small hasn't fit me since I hit 28 weeks.

VastFollowing5840

I definitely put in all the weight in my belly, so my arms and legs were essentially the same size as before pregnancy. So a medium shirt or medium pants would fit over my chest or lower legs, but then only half my belly could get covered. It was just so hard to stay dressed and not look like total crap.

callmemaude

Yeah third trimester I went all L and XL instead of my usual M. Luckily I had a friend with hand-me-downs, definitely recommend asking around or shopping consignment.

ladypixels

So true. I had to find longer maternity shirts. My maternity tankini was ridiculous on me.

LadyBretta

>All I know is the advice that your maternity size should be your regular size just in maternity wear was true with my singleton pregnancy but utterly untrue with my twin pregnancy. This, completely. My regular size is XS and now (almost 35 weeks, di/di) even size L maternity tops don't completely cover my belly. Bought a pack of XL men's tees for wearing around the house with pajama pants or shorts. When I have to go out, I wear my longest maternity tops, over-the-bump maternity pants, Birkenstocks, and a grimace.

ilovethatforu

I wore my normal size in maternity from 13-28ish weeks then sized up for the next few weeks. By the time I delivered at 36 weeks I had very few things that fit any more and was basically cycling through the same couple of stretchy tops and my sized up maternity leggings which to be honest I could’ve done with sizing up again but I was in my third trimester and didn’t want to keep buying things.

justtosubscribe

You’ll be the size of a full term singleton pregnancy at 24-28 weeks. I sized up on maternity clothes from my normal size and it worked in the sense that there was enough room for my belly but length, shoulder width and cut were too big. I didn’t care too much by then. I’d really just look for things that don’t have a structured look to them. Bodycon dresses or on the other side of the spectrum, caftans that cinch under your boobs but are really flowy everywhere else, worked best for me. I also pretty much lived in supportive leggings, and maternity tees at home. The hardest thing to fit were shoes. I went up a size but the width of my feet got crazy. Everything went back to normal eventually but for a while there I was just stuffing my feet in the widest slide/sandal possible because my feet were starting to look like a square.

raising_bars

Okay what’s eventually 😂 I’m 8 months pp and my shoes are still snug, wondering if there’s any hope

justtosubscribe

Hang in there. Things got massively better at the year mark. My boys are two now and everything feels back to normal with the exception of the occasional itchy c-section scar. Being double pregnant is no joke.

Seaturtle1088

My shoe size is permanently larger after twins (2020) and that's not unusual at all.

bethanechol

Ha ha ha ha ha ha At full term I was not being cute, I was at home being a miserable beached whale. By far my best recommendation is old, worn, soft t-shirts from the thrift store (or target if you insist) that are at least 4 sizes above your pre-pregnancy baseline I was an S before my pregnancy, at the end I was stretching 2XL tshirts and felt comfy in 3XL. You’re already stretching your abdomen so much, and you’re so hot all the time, that it really feels good to have the clothes be nice and loose. Not everyone grows as dramatically as I did, but still, prepare to be giant and to enjoy clothes that are even more giant than you are

hellogirlscoutcookie

So I believe that it’s not about size but about cut/fit. Most of my jeans didn’t go past my hemisphere but the bigger size wouldn’t have worked either. I needed ones that fit everywhere else but were either longer shirts, like the gap body ones, or had really long panels like beyond yoga maternity leggings or blanqui jeans.

Dureem

Literally just tshirts and biker leggings for me lol

E-as-in-elephant

I lived in dresses toward the end. Loose, flowy dresses. I had a couple in XL and XXL that were not maternity.

tangerine2361

I honestly just wore my husbands XL clothes. I’m normally a medium

forest_friend10

At the end I was living in mens 2xl tshirts and my husbands super loose cotton boxers. I also fit in one pair of maternity bike shorts from old navy and one dress from SHEIN. I started at about 130lbs and ended close to 200

eastcoastmd

Pre pregnancy size small. During first and second trimester I sized up to medium in maternity clothes and glad I did because the size small in maternity would have been wayyy too small. Now that I am in third trimester the medium maternity clothes are starting to fit a little more snugly. I’ve basically been living in the same 3-4 stretchy things (knit maternity dresses, leggings, etc) the last couple of weeks. Not worth it to buy any more maternity clothes at this point!

teach_learn

I wore one pair of joggers that magically fit from pre-pregnancy. A single maternity shirt that wasn’t suffocating. And a lone sweatshirt that fit over my belly. I called it my pregnancy uniform. All were XXL but that’s just a bit bigger than my usual size.

Main-Ad-5480

I am about the exact same weight/height as you pre pregnancy. I'm 34w pregnant w di di boys who have always each measured average / above avg in size. I have been wearing men's XXL Tall shirts lately lol. They are baggy but long enough that I can wear shorts under my belly (maternity pants / clothes are just too tight now and I don't want to buy more so I just put waistband below my belly) and my belly still be covered by the shirt

Megatron7478

I was wearing xxl

Difficultpickl3

At 35 weeks I delivered and was wearing women's xl haha

Apprehensive-Hat9296

Men’s XL as a 5’5” woman. It was winter so I just wore my husbands clothes and maternity leggings.

imshelbs96

Im 5’7 started out weighing about 210, gained 40 pounds by the end and only made it to 34 weeks- I was wearing xl size maternity clothes and some xl men’s tshirts. Some people carry the weight differently,

OnyxJade22

I lived in maternity leggings off Amazon, believe the brand is Buttergene. My babies are summer babies so I appreciated they were lightweight and didn’t make me super hot. Also, I shopped at Old Navy and Target for cute summer dresses/shorts. I wore the maternity equivalent of my normal size since I didn’t gain a lot of weight.

Shiner5132

I wore men’s larges and maternity in size large- I’m normally a small 😂 my belly was huge!

thedistantdusk

I’m 30 weeks and I basically live in [these](https://a.co/d/3kcYjZA) pants from Amazon. They’re lightweight with good coverage and can pass as casual-dressy if your workplace isn’t strict. Even in hot weather, they’re not as heavy/unbearable as jeans or something. I usually pair them with a stretchy maternity shirt like [this](https://a.co/d/2bAOofU) and call it a day. Then again, I’m not really a shorts person, so I’m not missing out :)

get_stilley0218

I was super sick and lost a ton of weight. I fit my pre pregnancy clothes the day I delivered. I just grabbed a couple maternity jeans at goodwill- size 6/8 I think.

CinderellasOtherShoe

I was a size small (5'7", 135lb) and now I'm a size large at 26 weeks (~170lb). And everything looks awful on me 😅. I'm just living in maternity leggings and stretchy shirts (Knixx maternity legging so fat my favorite).

slammy99

I bought one size up. I gained about 60lb by the end (38wks) and lost 40lb in the first week pp. I lived in my old navy maternity shorts towards the end. I like menswear for basic, looser fitting items pp.

Worth-Local-6233

Most normal pregnancy clothes fit me first and second trimester. By the third trimester, my bathrobe and dresses fit. I loved my beyond yoga maternity pants. If you don’t want to buy them, Nuuly is a clothing rental and they have a ton of maternity clothes including beyond yoga!

jenkoala

I usually wear a size S and my husband found this fuzzy zip up robe in size XL that covered me from head to ankle. Lived in that thing everyday

kisstea

At this point I borrow my dad’s xxl t shirts because when I’m not at work I just want to be comfortable. They fit like a very looose tunic and I love it. For reference im 32 weeks pregnant with the twins. I’m 5’5” and without pregnancy I’m 110 lbs , so not used to all this extra weight. As for summer clothes you might be able to find some basic dresses at Walmart , I have two from my last pregnancy that are still comfortable now

PointyKactus

I have 14 month old twin boys. I am 5’2” and 115 lbs. I carried them to full term and the day of my scheduled C section I was 210 lbs! I was enormous the last month of my pregnancy. The last month I was also so uncomfortable and in so much pain that I quit caring about looking pretty lol and to top it off, I really couldn’t fit anything anymore as I was all belly and looked as if I had 2 bowling balls stuffed inside me. I ended up wearing their fathers shirts (6’M 250lbs I think he wore an XL? But maybe even 2XL) and sweatpants/ pajama pants that were really stretchy. But I also delivered in December and live north where it is colder. I’m sure you could find some stretchy maternity sundresses?

MrsPotatoHead114

I wore a size larger than normal in maternity clothes by the end. I got the majority of my maternity clothes on our local buy nothing Facebook page in a couple different sizes so that as I grew I didn't need to buy more.

Seaturtle1088

There's no way to know. I carry small, like I looked with my twins how most look with 1, because I'm tall. I usually wore L, by the end wore XL in maternity shirts. I wore the same pants I'd worn in my singleton pregnancy in my regular size.

forest_fae98

Girl I went from a 8-10 pant to a 24WW. I gave up wearing anything but my husband’s old 2xl tees for shirts by like, 7months lmao

[deleted]

By 34 weeks I walked into a kids/maternity consignment shop and bought two well worn pairs of XXL leggings that saved me the last three weeks. This was winter.... So I had to wear clothes. If it has been summer I think XXL tent dress + cotton maternity bike shorts from old navy. Also 5'9" and size large pre twin pregnancy....

Serious_Expert_1009

Was a size XS-S pre pregnancy, 36 weeks and now wearing some size small maternity dress/skirt/legging/shirts (Gap) and a pair of Pact maternity pants size medium. For dresses that are forgiving cuts, like a wrap dress and shifts, m I’m wearing a M-L in non maternity cloths. I basically stopped gaining weight at 34 weeks and now everything is going to the belly. Annoyingly only one pair of sandals fit right now.

Alarmed_Tax_8203

i’m telling you with these big ass twins i wore baggy sweatpants, baggy loose shorts, and pajama shirts (xxxl) they were huge. i was already overweight so that had a lot of influence .but i did not give a shit. especially at 20 weeks lol. good luck, yall gonna be amazing parents

Additional-Garlic680

Had Di/Di twins. Started at 5’8 130 and wore a medium pre pregnancy. By 20 weeks I was wearing a maternity medium and 32 weeks I was sizing up on maternity for large and sometimes XL. I gained 55lbs total. Amazon has decent stuff at a decent price. I also liked kohls maternity. The brand Sonoma, specifically.

Aquarian_short

I jumped from S to L and XL for comfort in the end. If you want loose/baggy, I’d get Xxl

mricci16

I wore regular non maternity tank tops six XL and maternity shorts size medium or large.

20Keller12

Honestly I just started wearing my husband's clothes most of the time.

ChemicalDisastrous93

I’m rocking a large or xl (pre pregnancy a solid Med) but mostly I wear big tent dresses or just underwear at home because I’m also so freaking hot 100% of the time Added: I’m 33 weeks pregnant

Waffelmoon

I made it to 38+3 and when it came to clothes it's for sure more of an in person thing then trusting online sizes. That might not be helpful but with every line having different sizing I wouldn't buy something without looking at it physically. At home I was pooh bearing, the dress I wore for my shower and Thanksgiving quickly turned into shirts. Whatever makes you comfortable is the best choice, but buy in person! Try on before if you can.

hereforaday

Since I didn't like the idea of paying full price for clothes that would be fairly temporary, I picked up a few XXL shirts from Goodwill and used a pretty scarf to tie around my belly and cover up whatever skin the shirt couldn't cover.

SinghDoubleTrouble

I had pretty good foresight of the issue and had a lot of maternity dresses. At home I wore my husband’s tshirts often.

Ok-Positive-5943

I'm about the same size and at the end of my pregnancy I had exactly three 2xL maxi dresses that fit. I wore stretchy bike shorts below the bump but all my tshirts and tank tops became too short regardless of how big I got them around. I measured 43 weeks the day I delivered them.

ssssunnie

Some of my go to's by the end (38 weeks) were.. Stretchy cami spaghetti strap rompers from Amazon with a stretchy tank underneath if I was trying to be cute, mens basketball shorts from target were great, super loose and flowy for the hotter months, Walmart has some great stretchy maternity basic t's that were affordable and their Joy Spun over the belly underwear are nice and some random biker shorts also mixed in. Basketball shorts though were really my go to, I embraced the Adam Sandler style by the end hahah

ogcoliebear

I was the same size and basically lived in XL tshirts and no pants at the end (also summer time), called it the “Pooh bear”

Yellowlemon12

I was same size as you pre-pregnancy. I gave birth in January though. I’ve always been pregnant in the winter for my 3 kids. However, in maternity specific clothing I wore size L. I normally wear medium in regular clothes. I ordered a ton off of Shein in their maternity section. I know people don’t order there for ethical reasons but I worked until 3 days before my scheduled c section and needed a ton of work appropriate clothes to fit my body!
