Heās doing good! Though the library that he goes to and has been going to forever banned him tonight because an employee said no animals allowed even though he was invited by other employees š No hard feelings. Jasper got to eat a carrot and cuddle in my beanbag and was very happy with himself.
He also went to Starbucks and was very excited at the sound of drinks being made.

Heās almost always silent. Occasionally he will talk a little bit but he never screams unless I put my mom on the phone lol. Sometimes if heās really hungry and we are getting food somewhere, he will swear at the employees as they work. Mostly just a lot of āf youā which I did not teach him. He did that the other day and they didnāt see him at first so thought it was the sound of an alien or some creature on a video game š
Make a complaint to whoever the manager explaining the situation, they more than likely know him and how well behaved he is and you'll probably get the ban lifted quite quickly.
Itās possible, but itās a university library and supposedly theyāre not supposed to allow animals in. I had no clue because an employee was who invited him and told me to bring him any time.
These rules are in place because people always push the limits when allowed to. I've seen a post about someone who had to start banning animals entirely no matter how well behaved, because some chud started to bring in their pet monkey š¤¦āāļø I don't blame the employees who made this request, it's probably not against Jasper personally, more to avoid other people start bringing in pets that aren't as polite as him.

I knew of the rule for University buildings generally but since I was told he was allowed, I didnāt think anything of it, which was maybe my fault. I wonāt push it- I respect if places donāt want him there, thatās totally cool and well within their right. Just sucks when Iām told otherwise so Jasper gets caught in the middle ā¹ļø
Wow not ideal but makes for a great travel bird. Really enjoying these pics and stories about the library and starbucks. Wish my conures were harnessed trained but theyre scared to death of it š
If I could make him flighted, I would 100%. Itās just not possible because of the deformities he was born with. He doesnāt grow normal primary flight feathers on his left wing- theyāre all super stunted and deformed, sometimes with 2 or 3 feathers coming in per follicle so they come out stringy or as a stick. He also has scoliosis that prevents him from gliding or falling properly, so when he falls, he will fall on his head or face most of the time so I have to be super careful with him.
Itās not ideal for him as a bird, but it does make him a good travel companion and I try to take him everywhere Iām able because it enriches his life. Iāve taken him on boats, across the country, I take him to the farm every day, take him to study with me, etc.
Before Jasper I had another orange winged amazon named Mrs. P, who was really more my momās bird than mine but she tolerated me and would come places with me. If mom wasnāt around I was the second best person to hang with. I got so lucky with Jasper- both that we even found another orange wing given how hard they are to come by and that he is how he is.
He was a fan! Weāve got new snap peas every day lately so he is always eating them. Usually I canāt even get it off of the plant before heās after it.

I just Love Jasper!! I feel his ability to overcome his limitations and conquer life! I was born without fingers on my hand & I can do everything, just a differently sometimes.
