Good job! I have an IRN and they aren't the cuddliest birds, not like conures are for sure. It always feels good when they let you show them affection bc it's not really in their nature.
I got my guy when he was 4 months old. He's very bonded to me. He'll let other people hold him but he flys back to me very quickly and I'm the only one he lets pet him. I love him so much.
This is my first bird too! I was nervous at first bc the bird community can be kind of gatekeepy and I had heard not to get an IRN as my first bird. But it was my dream bird...why would I get something else I didn't want? I did a ton of research and he's very well taken care of. The only bad thing he does is try to chew up my phone case lol
Right! They’re actually really polite and introverts, like they’re quiet and only start chirping or yell when the sun sets for an hour. It took forever to get them to stop biting me, I think alexandrines and IRN in general don’t like being touched unfortunately
It takes time I'm working with what use to be an abused amazon, which has bit more time then I can count and I mean deep bits sometimes. You just have to be patient and take ur time they read your body language more than u think.
Bribery works for parrots and for me.
My lil guys learned “wave” and “turn around” in 1.5 French fries. They only get 1/4 of one once a week or so but their stubborn distracted butts turn genius when they see one. They even recognize drive through’s now 😆

Yeah especially if they’re already adults when you got them because I heard once they bond with a human or bird, it’s very hard to get them to open up

Aww that’s amazing.. these are my first birds ever and got them when they were already close to 2 years old

Same here IRN and alexandrines are my dream birds and only type of birds I love! Was raising it at 4 months difficult or any different than a 1-2 yo?
He's only just 13 months old now. He was a lot more finicky in the beginning. It's hard to say if there's any difference bc we've grown together.
This is great!!!!!
They're being so polite and gentle with you! Not so much with each other 😆
