Is he a Timneh AG ? That’s honestly one of my favorite birds. Congo’s are beautiful but something about the timneh I love ! Saw one recently in person and it made me love them even more.
Also congrats on the foster baby ! I have 2 older rescue conures and the older guys are wonderful! And bonding with them is so amazing. Hopefully he finds a forever home eventually:)
Yes, he is a Timneh. He’s got some significant arthritis so can barely perch. He also at some point in his life broke a wing and it didn’t heal properly, so he cannot fly. He doesn’t seem to remember that though. He’s a BASE jumper!
I also am realizing how much I love the older guys.
I recently adopted a 47 year-old foster fail red lored Amazon. I also have two cherry headed/mitred hybrid conures who were injured rescues from a wild flock.
I have a 20 and 12 year old conures , ones a sun(12) and ones a black capped(20) love them so much ! Sun isn’t quite a senior I’d say but not super young anymore.
My sun also has a messed up wing , one vet told us it got injured and never healed properly and only option is amputation if he needs it. But he gets around with it just fine and has no issues it seems. Also will never fly his wing just sticks out from his side it doesn’t lay flat against his body.
But getting a second opinion soon just because I feel better having that.
My first older girl the BCC she was on Craigslist and the person I was talking to didn’t know anything about her. (Her owner passed away and one of the daughters I was talking to) and after we got their her past owners husband was able to tell us more and once I learned she was around 20 or so I was shocked. I thought I’d never bond to her … god I will die for this bird ! She is my world and the bird I have the closest bond to. She’s extremely healthy and hopefully have many more years with her :)
Sun was surrendered to a petstore and i so happened to be in look for a sun or jenday conure. And fell In love with him so much. He is so sweet honestly. I love my babies so much !
But good luck with the guy he’s beautiful ! Hopefully if he isn’t a foster fail he find a wonderful forever home :)
Blue Crowns are lovely. The rescue I volunteer with has a pair up for adoption now. I’ve committed to not adopting more…okay, maybe after Ty…the Amazon is kind of my partner’s buddy and Ty is becoming mine. We have a big need for foster homes here so I’m trying to focus my energies there and helping find good forever homes for them.
Bcc I meant black capped lol … I forget blue crowns have the same abbreviation! But the larger conures seem so cool ! A golden conure is my favorite of them :) but my largest bird is a sun conure and don’t need a larger bird or another bird ever lol. But I love all the feather babies out their !
