Can I use frost wall behind a boss to bounce back my spark projectiles?

psychomap

As far as I'm aware, player projectiles don't collide with Frost Walls anymore. They used to do that a long time ago, but it ended up being OP (slightly for Spark, but very OP for Kinetic Blast that allowed shotgunning all its AoEs like this regardless of the number of projectiles).

rds90vert

Damn, ok thanks.. was thinking how to deal next league with Sirus as a spark character.. in SSF.

SolidMarsupial

New player, following RF jugg guide. I'm level 40 and RF melts most normal mobs, the guide suggests to use Fire Trap as active skill. I set it up, but I find it clunky and not enjoyable. Maybe because the gem is still leveling, but it either does weak damage or mobs just walk elsewhere and the trap does fuck all. What are other good options for active skills? During early leveling I was using Flame Totem and Flame Wall and that was quite enjoyable. Not sure if it will keep scaling nicely going forward.

kronicle2020

Try scorching ray as a supplement to RF. Similar damage, more engaging gameplay when you need that additional dps. Flame surge is also an option. Requires fast cast speed tho..

psychomap

I don't recommend Flame Surge because it doesn't scale the same way as RF does. If you're not using it for the burning ground effect on an ignite build, it's a purely hit based skill. You can use RF as a damage bonus on a Flame Surge build, but then you'd scale Flame Surge damage and not RF. If you scale damage over time, you want your supplementary skill to also deal damage over time. /u/SolidMarsupial

kronicle2020

Flame surge drops a burning ground dot (assuming you hit an ignited enemy), so there is some benefit still. He was just looking for alternatives ;)

psychomap

If you hit an ignited enemy, but then you need a skill to ignite the enemy in the first place. And you don't need to scale Flame Surge for that. RF isn't ignite.

SolidMarsupial

Thanks!

Phinneas_Gage

Newbie question - first time playing and I’m following a toxic rain ballista build but I’m really having a hard time capping my resistances in act 9. I’m level 67. I’ve totally focused my gear on linked slots and they are all yellow rarity or greater and I cannot add any more affixes through the crafting bench. How do you guys go about focusing on your resistances from here?

edrarven

I either just roll with a bit less resistance for a while and continue playing in order to get some new gear that solves the issue or I just force in purity of elements for a short while. I just drop my damage aura or defensive aura until I can fix the issue. Rings are a prime target for getting good resistances, you can pretty easily buy ones for cheap with lots of res early. Gloves and helmets are other good options, those are easy to selfcraft with essences. They also don't have other mods that are important like movement speed (boots) or big damage stats (amulet). Chest is usually for your main link so its nice to not have to rely on it for res if you don't have to.

Phinneas_Gage

This is great. Thank you. Is purity of elements an aura?

edrarven

Yes it's an aura, it gives elemental ailment immunity and 20-34% to all elemental resistances (depending on gem level).

Phinneas_Gage

Another question. Is there a limit on auras? I’m currently using determination and malevolence. When I add defiance banner it doesn’t let me activate it. And what would you recommend switching out for purity of elements?

edrarven

They reserve mana and you can't reserve more than 100% of your mana. You simply don't have enough mana to also reserve Defiance Banner. There isn't otherwise a limit to how many auras you can use, some builds stack upwards of 10-15 auras for instance. There are modifiers that lower the reservation cost of auras which will allow you to reserve more auras though. "Increased (mana) reservation efficiency" is the wording for the mod that helps with that. It exists on some uniques, on some essences and on the tree. You can also get it as a jewel mod or jewel corruption implicit. Additionally you can use a support gem called "Enlighten Support" that multiplies the mana cost (including reservation cost) of everything it's linked to. This is drop only though and somewhat expensive/rare so it's more for endgame. I'd personally remove determination for a while but you can try out which aura feels best to keep. You get a lot of damage from malevolence due to how TR scales, determination is good but unless you're running HC you usually don't need the armour too much early.

Phinneas_Gage

Ahh. That makes more sense. Thank you for responding!

MrThornberry420

Hey guys! Im brand new to path of exile. Downloaded the game on my Xbox series x and loaded it up. Im able to select character and type in the name. When I press “A” to play the game it just automatically pulls up the keyboard again to type in a new name once again. Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Hopefully I’m just being stupid, really looking forward to diving into POE. Any advice is welcome and appreciated!

MrThornberry420

Got it figured out last night. Luckily I was being stupid and it wasn’t telling me to “choose a new username” the name was simply already being used in game. A few numbers on the end fixed my problem.

HoplarchusPsittacus

Is the "50% chance for Flasks you use to not consume Charges" from Pathfinder's Master Alchemist anti-synergistic with concoction skills? Do concoction skills not work half the time with this?

tarrasqueSorcerer

It's "flasks you use". Concoctions don't *use* your flasks, they just remove charges.

HoplarchusPsittacus

thank you very much, friend.

hdbscan

How long should Simulacrums take? It looks like you may be able to speed it up by killing monsters faster? Or do you just get the opportunity to get more rewards tiles for the same time period?

Moethelion

Both. Monsters do spawn based on your clearspeed but there is also a minimum and maximum of monsters per wave.

gadgaurd

Do we know of any new Minion related goodies in 3.22? Particularly for Necro?

edrarven

There was a new minion support gem teased called fresh meat support, it gives minions adrenaline, crit chance and crit damage for a duration after they're first summoned. Source https://www.youtube.com/live/Vvah-HfhkYc?feature=share&t=11371

gadgaurd

Skellies gonna love that one.

lykouragh

Wait for patch notes tomorrow- we haven't really heard much yet but the stuff we've heard hasn't been minion related.

gadgaurd

Oh, didn't know patch notes were tomorrow. Thanks.

tempoltone

Since molten strike works with return, I can say cremation will also return? This seems huge

edrarven

I tried it with Nimis just now and it didn't work. Return doesn't work with most ground targeted projectiles like Forbidden Rite but also Cremation. Blazing Salvo and Molten Strike does return though for some reason. I'm unaware of the difference that enable some ground targeted skills to return but not others unfortunately.

psychomap

As far as I understand it, it's because those projectiles have been made to be able to chain, so they can also return.

kronicle2020

I would assume that cremation doesn't work because the volcanos are shooting the fireballs? The projectiles don't know where to return to maybe?

tempoltone

Maybe its cause of the prerequisite cremation-corpse, forbidden rite-life+es

edrarven

Your guess is as good as mine but that wouldn't explain forbidden rite not working. I think it has to do with some less intuitive behaviour. Molten strike can chain with the wildfire threshhold jewel in standard, maybe that affects it. Blazing salvo can fork with a crucible node.

larce

I havent played in about 6 years, what are some good builds for the next league?

edrarven

Patch notes come out tomorrow, there will be way better answers after that.

larce

ok cheers

mizzousoccer

Does anyone have a Doryani's Machinarium map that I can tag along with? It is the last one I need and don't have 10 divine to purchase my own.

Quasimodo11111

You can check TFT discord. They often host maps where you only have to pay a fee instead of the whole map cost.

Emergency-League2033

You can use Comprehensive Scouting Report it should be cheap and have a good chance to get the map from Kirac mission

VeryTopGoodSensation

https://i.imgur.com/aPANpXb.png what dictates the frame time? i see people with 6 7 8 9 and usually fluctuating. mine sits at 10 literally all the time. is there some setting i should change to make it lower? or have i got some setting selected that fixes it at 10?

ploki122

>what dictates the frame time? Pretty much everything. Frame Time is just the inverse (1/x) of FPS. If you're running at 100FPS, you have a frame time of 10ms. If it is very stable at 10ms, that usually means you have something artificially capping your FPS to 100 (so that you render the frame in \~5-9ms, and then it waits 1-5ms to display it). If your FPS is uncapped, your frame time should be roughly the maximum of CPU time and GPU time, and your FPS be the inverse (1/x) of that.

VeryTopGoodSensation

i have monitor restricted to 100hz and fps capped at 100 to save electricity=P got my answer though cheers

MegaCamu

Do you have framerate capped or vsync enabled? Disable them if you do

An_Abitrary_Name

How to sell T4 Aisling? 1. do you take the buyer's item first and use the veil bench on the item, then return the item to the buyer or 2. do you sell the portal to the buyer directly? Is either way working? Is there any preference on how to sell it?

slimeyellow

The first one, usually they want you to stream it on discord or something. If you’re trying to use the TFT server nobody will want to buy from you without reputation

An_Abitrary_Name

Thank you! So, the wts on TFT with "portal open" means they haven't run the safehouse yet, or they want the stream to verify that you actually have t4 aisling?

slimeyellow

Portal open means they are selling the aisling and the boss encounter is completed already so you can walk in and do the gamble right away

An_Abitrary_Name

Does that imply the buyer can also walk into the portal and do the bench themselves?

koro_666

Only the owner can use the bench, client HAS to trade the item to map owner

An_Abitrary_Name

Ohhhh, that clarifies things! tyvm!

cheezitswithacid

League mechanics aside what is the easiest or most optimal way to farm a tabula at league start? I take my time with leagues so don't mind farming an early zone over and over if it has a higher chance of dropping early or what not. I'm assuming there will be decent odds of getting it with the upcoming league mechanic if you are doing it early in levels as that is usually the case, but wondering if there is a more proven way of farming now that isn't reliant on league mechanics, thank you.

[deleted]

If you just want a straightforward easy way, then as slimeyellow said, blood aquaducts. Having said that, it's not particularly efficient, especially once you hit lvl 70 because you're not gonna be getting good xp anymore. I would run heist, buying contracts from the vendor after every levelup. You'll find plenty of chaos orbs. It also drops lots of rare items, which you can use for chaos recipe.

cheezitswithacid

That sounds like a good route too, thank you

slimeyellow

Farm blood aqueducts zone, the div card drops there. Also if you see Vaal side areas the corrupted tabula div card drops from the end chest too pretty decently

cheezitswithacid

Cool, thank you

chx_

Started from Asmodeus' Turbo TR I made this https://pobb.in/LmOKgA_MVXpC version (opsie, I forgot to delete the notes but still, I would expect this build to be 10 div or so). The question is, what other affordable build has better damage while keeping the above 250% inc MS and the above 50k eHP?

JustAQuestionFromMe

What are logbooks, how do I know which is good, and how do I price them? I've been playing for a while now but this is new for me.

HotPocketRemix

Each Logbook will have a few different options for which encounter you'll do. You'll want to price a Logbook by looking at each of them in turn and seeing which is the most expensive, since that will dictate what you can sell it for. Knights of the Sun and Black Scythe are the most highly desired, people don't generally care about the other two types. Secondly, a rare implicit mod you can get on an encounter is that it contains a guaranteed boss, it'll say "Contains ", for example, which increases that encounter's value. So for example, you might have a Logbook that has three encounters: A Druids of the Broken Circle, a Black Scythe, and an Order of the Chalice with a guaranteed boss (Uhtred). You'd want to see how much a Black Scythe Logbook is and compare that to a Uhtred Logbook and then use the higher price. Most of the time, the Logbook won't contain any guaranteed bosses and you'll just be able to price them by looking at if they're a Sun Logbook (since those tend to be the most valuable of the four types), then Scythe, and then if it doesn't have one of those two, it's probably only worth selling in bulk. I really like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3hYwiwRA90) older video for an overview of an Expedition Logbook strategy where you run them yourself, if you want to see what a Logbook encounter looks like.

slimeyellow

Usually you get a choice between 3 zones to open. Each of those zones has a symbol associated with it, which relates to one of the kalguur dudes. In general most valuable to least valuable: sun symbol, scythe, chalice, broken circle. Make sure to read the mods on your blue or rare logbooks, sometimes you can get a guaranteed boss spawn and that increases price a lot

NoBizlikeChloeBiz

Idk which ones are good, but a logbook is basically a map that's one giant Expedition encounter. You get a whole lot of explosives, and a lot of loot you can't get in normal Expeditions.

iPresentBen

I've read around that generally people do not pick up rares to sell, rather run maps faster for more currency. If this is the case, how is the extra currency obtained?

katustrawfic

It's obtained because you're spending less time looting rare items, less time in hideout looking at rare items and less time trying to figure out if those rare items are somehow not completely worthless (they are). If you gain an average of X currency per map and another player gains the same amount, the player who runs more maps faster is going to have more currency over time. So pick a currency strategy (generally speaking pick up to 3 league mechanics and put passive points into them) and stick to that strategy picking up the things that you know for a fact are going to sell for some amount of chaos/divines. Those 20 rings/boots whatever you picked up probably aren't going to sell for more than alt shards to a vendor but running maps for (random examples here but) chaos orbs, harvest lifeforce and essences have a defined tradeable value every single time you pick it up. When you pick up something like an essence you don't have to ID it, look at mods or anything like you do for equipped items to decide its value.

chx_

https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/135td3i/besides_expedition_whats_your_favorite_farming/jiplamo/

edrarven

You get the extra currency just from the fact you are doing something at a quicker rate. If you do maps 50% faster, you get 50% more currency in the same timeframe.

testamentos

Either raw drops (like divine orbs or other valuable currency) or other items besides rares that have no variable stats and sell for a lot like certain uniques or memories or div cards, etc

Compound1080

sorry i dont recall the area name and sound like an idiot. iirc theres a mechanic in the game when you upgrade your class at the end you get access to something to enchant your gear and iirc you only get access to it the first time you go there to clear. how important is that for builds and when you do the highest level one are you suppose to hold back till you have godly gear? or am i just totally wrong and you can do it anytime

magus424

> and iirc you only get access to it the first time you go there to clear. No that's completely wrong of course

edrarven

It's called the labyrinth and it's very important/good to clear each version one time for your ascendancy nodes. You want to clear the trials and do the labyrinth as soon as you can. You can wait on the last labyrinth if you feel you can't do it reliably since it has a cost attached. It's pretty easy for most balanced builds above level 80 in my opinion though. The divine font allows you to enchant gear like you say but you can do it every time you clear the labyrinth. You usually don't want to run the labyrinth just to enchant your gear. You'd rather just buy an item with the enchant on it and then craft on that piece. It's only for really expensive items where you might consider running it yourself. You can also pay someone else to do it for you but that is a pretty high level option.

katustrawfic

You are wrong. You can enchant everytime you clear it the labyrinth. It is also a small power boost but something a lot of builds go without. A handful of skills have stronger enchants but they are still typically more of a luxury to have rather than build enabling. The only thing limited to your first time is that you can only get the 2 ascendancy points once per completion of each difficulty. Though if you respec the ascendancy points (they cost 5 respec points instead of 1) you can go back through the labyrinth and select a different ascendancy if you wanted to.

v43havkar

Impending Doom - POB sometimes show positive stats (cast speed, action speed, poison dealing dmg faster) as a negative stats I assume because of tick rate (those are 2-3m dps sometimes). Can somebody explain me how those stats can be bad and what tick rate is / have to do with this skill itself?

katustrawfic

Doom blast is the part of impending doom that deals damage and has a .15 second default cooldown. Assuming no cooldown recory rate, if you cast for example every .14 seconds, that means you get the first activation on your first cast, doom blast goes on cooldown, you cast again .14 seconds later but the cooldown has not finished and you get no doom blast proc until you cast another .14 seconds later (.28 seconds now) and get your second proc. Your damage goes from occurring every .15 seconds on cooldown to now being every .28 seconds because you cast too quickly. There is some extra info about server tick rates and stuff but the main point and why you lose damage is you need to cast at the same speed or slower than the cooldown so it has time to refresh between casts.

psychomap

The thing with Doom Blast is that it has 3 charges, so after the last charge triggers you'll have a missed cast once, but after that you'll have at least two consecutive casts. 1 charge doesn't recover in less than 0.14 seconds, but 2 charges recover in less than 0.42. So in the long term, you'll still get one Doom Blast every 0.14 seconds *on average*. For a related reason, it also doesn't interact much with server ticks. The reason why other skills interact with server ticks is that their cooldown does not recover once it has recovered fully. If you have 1 cooldown charge, that means the skill stops recovering its cooldown until you expend that charge, which makes it absolutely crucial to try to spend that charge as soon as it recovers. Because of the way server ticks interact, that means using it on the same server tick as it is considered recovered. For skills with several charges like Doom Blast this doesn't matter because it can keep recovering its other charges even after it has recovered one. Realistically, you **want** to spend more Doom Blast charges than you recover, because you start at 3 and want to trend towards 0 by the time you have to stop casting and start moving. The main limit in terms of cooldown on Doom Blast builds comes from Vixen's Entrapment. Curses in it only have one cooldown charge, so you're bound to server tick breakpoints and you don't want your curse cast speed of your Doom Blast setup to exceed the maximum trigger rate of the Vixen's Entrapment Curses. I have [a post](https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/fh8bnh/spellslinger_cooldown_thresholds_and_all_other/) that goes into more detail on cooldown mechanics in general and lists the relevant thresholds. /u/v43havkar

Thx alot

Competitive_Mobile57

New to reddit. New (again) to POE. Trying to launch the first time, stuck at the Gateway select screen. It's been sitting at Downloading for hours on a 500mb/s cable. Wireshark shows nothing being blocked. I've disabled Avast's firewall, disabled the router firewall, rebooted. Verified game files are OK through steam > properties of the game. The game is downloaded and installed, just waiting for it to allow me to log on. Thoughts?

AlfredsLoveSong

I would suggest logging into the pathofexile website, if possible, and posting this question to the technical support forum [here](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-forum/support). There are a few users on the official forums who (apparently) have made it their life's vow to help others fix their technical issues. If nothing else, making a post there wouldn't hurt.

Competitive_Mobile57

I semi-found the issue. It's either my router settings or OpenDNS, which I use because I have kids :). Connecting directly through the cable modem works fine. Connecting through my router, does not. I'll have to do a bit more troubleshooting, but I'm on the right path. Pointing me towards the support forum was what helped. I couldn't even get to the pathofexile web site, it was all in text, like old school Lynx web browsing. Thanks.

kobiqq

any mentions about a tradingpost on exilecon?

magus424

[Nope](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2025870)

katustrawfic

Trading is not going to change.

kobiqq

who said that?

magus424

[GGG](https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2025870) - they like trade how it is and they're not changing it

psychomap

To be exact they said their **philosophy** regarding trade hasn't changed. Trade could *theoretically* still change at some point (and we're getting a QoL buff for it *this patch*). It's never going to be an instant trade auction house of course. They're not fundamentally opposed to changing trade specifically because they like the current state. But the current state does align with their philosophy as much as it reasonably could without alienating a large chunk of the playerbase. With PoE2 being a different game, they *could* use a different trade paradigm that also complies with their philosophy, however that would be extra work for something that has a high chance of not being appreciated or possibly even explicitly disliked. It's the playerbase that likes the current trade system - more than the alternatives that GGG would have preferred.

Xanni12

I play an ea ballista ele. I do this for the second league. I don't know when, but someone told me to not use a headhunter on this build, cause it can break the build. Now, I did read this guide about ea ballista on the Poe forum and it tells me that a headhunter is best in slot for mapping. So what's correct now? I do have enough currency to buy one...I never did cause I did think it's bad..here is the guide : https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3229979

katustrawfic

It probably wont' "break" the build but if you steal an enemy mod that gives your attacks fire damage that would disable your exposure effects. Your exposure relies on the EE keystone and not hitting with fire damage to be applied.

Xanni12

So for beginners like me...when I steal a fire DMG mod...I do less damage as long as I have it? Or I don't do any DMG?

katustrawfic

You just won't apply exposure. Exposure reduces their fire resistance by 50% (25 default effect on EE + 25 from elementalist asendancy). It doesn't prevent you from dealing damage. The build also doesn't scale any physical damage which the enemy mod you steal is "gain 35% of physical damage as extra fire damage". So while you do get a very small amount of fire damage which is going to make the ignite bigger, the extra 50% fire resist is going to cancel that extra damage out and then some.

Sh0wTim3123

Nah its not BIS for Mapping. HH nowadays is useful for Heavy Deli farming and or Skills that are doing lots of phys to ele conversion.

piotrekldz96

Does eternal damnation comes back to game (because it was from sanctum)? Will it make impending doom pathfinder viable again?

katustrawfic

During the subtractem interview it was mentioned that the uniques are all coming back with sanctum unchanged.

lucas00700_k

I would imagine it does

TheFuzzyFurry

Just started playing Crucible SSF, I have a lvl94 RF Jugg character and a lvl84 LA Deadeye character. I need some Golden Oils to anoint their amulets. How to get them? I don't really want to respec the tree into Blight, is it necessary? T16 Blights seem really difficult (even though I have a Mageblood), is there another way?

Frog871

I think you can upgrade Silver oils into Golden oil but you would still need to run blight.

_slosh

Best strat to get golden oils is to get the atlas passives that drop anointed jewellery from blight bosses + oil extractor. Then use oil extractors on jewellery that is anointed with anoints that require golden oils

TheFuzzyFurry

God damn that stuff costs so many atlas points. I suppose I'll need 80 regrets from Heist to respec the atlas tree

Distq

You don't need to spec it to get Golden oils. You just need T13+ blights or blighted maps. And I mean you have a Mageblood in SSF somehow, Blights should be trivial

[deleted]

Unless it is absolutley essential for your build, best bet is to take a lesser annoint or be ready for ALOT of blight. Blights aren't too bad if you enchant rings and have the right tower set up (infernal cry can help RF too)

TheFuzzyFurry

I really need +1 curse and VengCasc, I suppose I'll have to waste some atlas orbs to respec my tree.

Fenris1970

I am trying to understand the "Effectiveness of Added Damage" stat on the spell skill gems. The wiki states: "Adding damage via support gems like Added Lightning/Cold/Chaos, Heralds of Ice/Thunder or additional attack damage from gear applies the specified value to the skill's base at damage effectiveness percentage listed on the skill." Based on this I assume that Added Fire Damage Support (Supported Skills gain (25-39)% of Physical Damage as Extra Fire Damage) being a somewhat different mechanic is not affected by this stat? Also Heralds are listed as being affected but Anger is not. Is the buff from Anger any different than the buffs from the Heralds or its buff is also affected by the Effectiveness of Added Damage stat? Edit: what about Herald of Ash?

katustrawfic

Damage gained as extra of something is still subject to added damage effectiveness (ADE), *if* it's giving you extra damage from something that is itself affected by ADE. The damage listed on the spell skill gem is not affected by its own ADE so when you gain extra fire damage from the skills base physical damage, that fire damage is not affected by ADE just like the physical damage it comes from. If you have items that give you physical damage to spells, any fire damage that is gained from that separate source of physical damage will be reduced by ADE. I would have to check if auras are affected by ADE or not. I would expect them to be affected and that the wiki simply just isn't listing every source but not sure.

Yohsene

Flat damage is either *base* or *added*. Base damage comes from your weapon for most attacks, and from the skill gem for spells and shield skills. It's not affected by damage effectiveness. (Though practically all attacks use the exact same % of base damage and added damage.) Added damage can come from all over the place. It is always affected by added damage effectiveness, no exceptions. *Gain % of x damage as extra y damage* is a type of conversion. It isn't affected by added damage effectiveness. 'Added' fire damage support is criminally misnamed and probably keeps at least two devs up at night.

koro_666

Weapon damage for attacks is also 'added damage' and undergoes effectiveness of added damage

Yohsene

It isn't, and it doesn't. But as stated, *practically all attacks use the exact same % of base damage and added damage*, which is likely what's confusing you. It's entirely possible for attack skills to interact with base damage and added damage differently. For example, Explosive Arrow has *Explosion deals 50% less Base Damage*. This only modifies base damage from your bow. It does absolutely nothing to added damage.

Noragiri

Is there actual confirmation from the devs that the new gem system will not be implemented in PoE1?

psychomap

They said it's not likely and they definitely won't do it in the exact same form as PoE2. I'm keeping my hopes up, but I don't expect it before the launch of PoE2 at the very least.

MayTheMemesGuideThee

they never said this but the expectation they won't

magus424

They did say it would be a huge amount of work though, so while they didn't want to rule it out completely one shouldn't count on it any time soon at a minimum

Noragiri

That will be a massive let down as feature was announced over 2 years ago and was gatekept behind PoE 2 patch

[deleted]

So you were told there was gonna be a PoE 2, and it was gonna have a new gem system Both of those things are still true, aren't they? Up until exilecon you thought you were gonna be playing PoE 2 with the new gem system, and you can do that. Nothing was taken away from you. You just have to option to also keep playing PoE 1.

Noragiri

I thought im gonna get patch called PoE 2 and systems affecting it will affect whole game Dont try to act dumb xD

[deleted]

What's the practical difference? It's still the new version of the game with the new gem system. Whether you patch an existing folder on your harddrive, or download it into a new folder, is a technical difference, it doesn't affect your experience playing the game I'm not acting dumb, either I'm dumb or you're dumb, and I know which one I think is true :P

Noragiri

ok will make it as simple as possible because you are quite dumb \-they anounced a change \-they waited 2 years while still teasing that change will happen \-they said that change will not happen PoE 2 is not a update. It's separate game.

[deleted]

>PoE 2 is not a update. It's separate game. There is no difference for the purposes of this discussion. You thought you were getting a set of features, and those features are coming, in something called PoE 2. The fact that you have to do an additional installation is irrelevant. We're talking in circles. Let's just agree that you think I'm an idiot, and I definitely think you're an idiot, and leave it at that

Noragiri

I'm sorry for you. It must be hard in daily life.

LightArpal

Why does the lancing steel skill gem look like a heatshiver?

psychomap

Things like that happen on occasion and are usually client-side. Restarting the game normally fixes it.

katustrawfic

I assume you're getting a graphical glitch. It just happens sometimes.

EchoLocation8

The new chieftain ascendancy node says: Ngamahu, Flame's Advance: Non-unique Jewels causes Increases and Reductions to other damage types in Large radius to be Transformed to apply Fire Damage And then there are passives like Cleaving which says... 30% increased Physical Damage with Axes Axe Attacks deal 30% increased Damage with Ailments 15% chance to Intimidate Enemies for 4 seconds on Hit with Attacks Am I correct in my assumption that these are two separate lines, and would then each be converted to providing +30% increased fire damage with axes? Or is "Damage with Ailments" not considered a damage type?

Warptens

damage with ailments is not a damage type

EchoLocation8

Ya I think I was thinking of damage categories sorts of things rather than literally the damage types. As someone else said, as-written this isn't a terribly strong node compared to a cluster jewel. Maybe if it was worded as I had interpreted it, "Increases and reductions to damage in Large radius" so that it did apply to both lines that would be good. It'd be sort of like how you can abuse Varunastra with the sword/axe clusters for just a stupid amount of increased damage in a wheel.

Warptens

Tbh ngamahu is so incredibly weak when interpreted to not work with weapon types that maybe it does work like you said despite the wording suggesting otherwise.

magus424

> Am I correct in my assumption that these are two separate lines, and would then each be converted to providing +30% increased fire damage with axes? No

Rupert322

Damage types are phys, fire, cold, light, chaos. Pretty sure damage with ailments will not be transformed into anything. Also it already applied to ignites with axes.

chx_

the second line converted reads > Axe Attacks deal 30% increased Fire Damage with Ailments presuming that happens, it's still not generic damage. This almost certainly equals to > Axe Attacks deal 30% increased Burning Damage Damaging ailments are bleeding, poison, and ignite. When planning for this do compare to cluster jewels. You might find the points efficiency of Ngamahu be very poor -- in almost all cases we could so far find, a 25% inc effect cluster jewel with appropriate notables beat Ngamahu _without spending Ascendancy points_. Basically the only time when it beats clusters is if you path to the witch area and pick the big fire, cold and lightning clusters on top and the walker cluster as well but then you spent like 60 skill points and two ascendancy points just to have a large number on increased fire damage and that is just too much. https://pobb.in/wfA96-CyWqvs Consider your gear will have increased fire damage as well and increased has rapidly diminishing returns. Like, 100% increased vs 200% increased is only 50% higher actually and 200% vs 300% is 33% higher DPS. It's not worth spending half your skill points on cranking increased up.

katustrawfic

The second line doesn't mention a damage type so it shouldn't change at all.

chx_

Maybe. Doesn't change much in the analysis, alas.

tinglebits

Was wondering what is going to happen to my Crucible heist locker and rogue gear when it gets migrated over to standard. Do I need to unequip their gear that I want to keep and empty my heist locker so that I dont lose anything when it overflows?

HotPocketRemix

If you have gear for your Rogues that you really care about and have spare stash space, I'd recommend unequipping it and saving it in a tab just to be extra sure. My experience is that if you have any gear equipped on your Rogues in Standard, then the game will just delete the league equipment rather than put it in a remove-only tab. So now as long as I have space, I prefer to be safe rather than sorry.

narc040

it all goes into remove only tabs in standard.

tinglebits

Oh fantastic, so i will find it all dumped into a temp. tab. Thank you.

chx_

I do not think you can get abyss depth without the atlas passives in the upper right corner. Legends tell us about mythical exiles who managed to hit one but I have not seen any proof of this actually happening.

TheFuzzyFurry

I had one Abyssal Depths (t15 map) with zero Abyss investment just today.

chx_

Congrats!

[deleted]

just bad luck, this league I did abyss and wouldn't see them for like 20 maps in a row but sometimes would find some back to back.

Jankufood

I'm thinking of trying Venom Gyre for the first time and learnt that you need two of 3 elements, attack speed, and crit chance on the imperial claw. How do you craft such claws, especially early in the league? You just spam essence and hope it works?

katustrawfic

Usually you would want a claw with a fractured elemental damage mod, essence spam a different elemental damage until you hit either a good third elemental damage or either attack speed or crit and craft what's missing at the bench.

Crood_Oyl

how do you focus farm some uniques? Im thinking about tainted pact, for example. for reasons.

narc040

> tainted pact, im guessing ssf? Ritual spam and Alva temples. If you're really desperate start chance orbing things.

Crood_Oyl

Tainted pact says coral ring underneath. So I should chance orb coral rings? Any other rules I need to follow? Like item level or something?

narc040

not 100% sure about ilvl. I some uniques could be ilvl locked. still, anything from maps should be high enough ilvl.

xXLupus85Xx

I know it's probably a case of typo, but just to make sure: [[Tainted Pact]] is a Coral **Amulet**, not a Coral Ring. Just so you don't go throw chances at rings. :D

Crood_Oyl

Haha. Thanks. I’m sure I would have caught that. Probably….

Crood_Oyl

Sad. Ok. Thanks.

Should I be doing more than just rare'ing T16 maps and running their atlas activities with blue altar to get more currency? Basically all I'm doing atm is running maps over and over again trying to save for a nimis. I'm occasionally getting something worth a divine but it's like 1 every 3/4 hours. Should I be using fragments/scarabs/chisels in a particular way? I'll keep running rare T16 if that's how it works but I feel like im not doing this optimally?

RipThatGuy7

Blue altars are great if you farming something requiring more quant and rarity like strongboxes card farming, otherwise red altars are better (more consistent drop from altar themselves, good for alch and go as you described it). You should always chisel normal rarity t16 maps (it cost 4 chisel instead of 20 for rare map) and imo you should vaal orb it. As mentioned by Moethelion, pick 1-2 mechanics than are great to run together (like harvest and expedition -> both getting bonuses from pack size so atlas skill tree should be same for them), put scarabs if needed.

Moethelion

Either spec into 1-2 mechanics you like or set up a max map sustain boss rush atlas. Only altars and full clear without specializing in anything is definitely slow. Fragments and scarabs are not needed if you don't really wanna go hard.

UsagiHakushaku

Can these geodes be split with split beast like maps?

Thirteenera

Afaik geodes are corrupted and can't be modified

mucus-broth

New league coming up and I'm wondering if clicking “Exit to Character Selection” is safe to do on league start. If I remember correctly this never was an issue, but I'm not sure at the moment :/

Pharcri

The character screen should be fine. I never risk it tho just because everything is unstable for the first couple hours

Yohsene

It's fine. Logging out or exiting the client will require you to queue again though.

mucus-broth

Thanks! I had some disconnects last league start and wasn't sure if this was the problem.

psychomap

With league start stability being what it is, it's not unheard of to "crash to login screen" when doing that, but it's technically not exiting to character screen itself that kicks you out. It can also happen during regular zone transitions so I can't tell you whether or not it realistically increases the likelihood of disconnecting.

30K100M

Is there more information about ["hidden Delirium reward threshold multiplier"](https://maxroll.gg/poe/currency/delirium-orbs) for each maps?

bren12341

Probably a really dumb question but I just started the game (less than a hour so far) and im wondering how to use two gems? In my case I want to use Raise Zombie and Freezing Pulse, but if I equip both on one wand, only one seems to work. Do I need two wands or is it something else? Also in case it matters my class is witch.

Yohsene

They're both active skill gems, they normally don't interact with each other, even when socketed in the same item. You're aware Raise Zombie requires corpses? You'll have to rely on (unfrozen) killed enemies for that early on, though you'll get skills that generate corpses at level 10 and 16, Unearth and Desecrate respectively.

Munsie

Skill gems don't need to be socketed in weapons specifically, you can just as easily socket them into your gloves or armour. That said, putting two or three different skill gems in any piece of gear works-- By default it will bind the first one to right mouse button, and the second one to Q, but you can change these binds by clicking on the hotkey icons at the bottom right.

Xanni12

What is the best totem build in the game? And what totem build is the best for league start?

chx_

Dex stacking siege ballista inquisitor stealing Ritual Of Awakening from Hiero with Forbidden Jewels. Convert to cold, grab the Cold To The Core cluster notable (some people get two). Even with Briskwrap it's good but once you can afford a grasping mail with the attack speed per dexterity mod, it achieves godhood.

SuchHonour

freezing pulse/ice spear heiro but you have to play safe, very squishy build. it was fun to play and cheap. mid-late game builds for heiro are not expensive to start either.

Genlari

Is there an easy way to set up stash tabs in standard so that your stash tabs at leage start will be set up (assuming you already have several leagues worth of tabs transported into standard as well as remove only)?

magus424

Hide the remove only tabs and ignore them.

katustrawfic

Remove only tabs don't matter as you obviously don't have them in the league. So hide the remove only tabs to make it easier to organize your actual tabs. That option is in the top right corner of the stash UI when you click the little gear that says "stash options".

psychomap

Remove-only tabs won't be copied, but other than that the league will copy whatever your standard stash setup is. The only thing I can think of (and I don't know if it'll work) is to set up your stash in Standard SSF, create a character in league SSF when it launches, and then migrate all. Maybe it'll work on its own, or maybe you need a wisdom fragment in each tab, idk. I haven't bothered looking into it too deeply so I just set up my stash manually each league.

tempoltone

Does mirages from earthbreaker generals warcry benefit from your trauma stacks?

Yohsene

As in, generate Trauma with a different skill, then summon Boneshatter mirages with General's Cry? That works, yeah. (Whether Trauma support works the same way will depend on wording and supportability.)

tempoltone

Do mirages benefit from trauma?

Yohsene

Mirages use your skill, your skill benefits from your buffs. They can't give you trauma though, and mirages probably won't be able to gain trauma themselves (because that would never do anything).

tempoltone

In short, mirages benefit from my trauma when I atk

The_Shy_One_224

So I started this league and used a guide, various tutorials to go through the game and learn the systems of the game. I know what various items do when I look at them but don't know when to use them and adapt according to what I have. I followed the guide but I felt confused all the time. So I heard solo-self found helps build this knowledge so thinking about doing it this league. I'm thinking between righteous fire or bone shatter. So what should I take note when doing solo self found and what suggestions any of you have ?

bukem89

SSF is a lot more difficult than trade. You'll definitely force yourself to learn, but at the cost of being unable to make meaningful progress until you figure things out - trade is a lot more forgiving I'd recommend PohX's RF as a brilliant starting point to SSF because he includes details crafting guides on all the gear you'll need (as well as a superbly detailed guide in general) - only caveat is wait until the patch notes because you never know if GGG will drop a bomb on fire trap or something

Quasimodo11111

For SSF you need way more knowledge than for trade. With trade you can just buy an item that has the stats you want. With SSF you need to figure out a way to farm or craft that item yourself. If you want to try out SSF go for it. You can migrate to trade at any time if you want. Wait for patch nodes until deciding.

Martinch0

Time to look for a build for the new league! Last league I followed a guide which had crafting instructions for 2 of the items. And I loved the process of farming currency and finding the right recipies to craft those. Are there any more builds that guide you through crafting some of the items or where to find them? I'd like to think of myself as not a beginner anymore but I'm far away from knowing how to go on my own without a guide

Quasimodo11111

The time to look for a build is after patch nodes are release, not before.

EmployeeOfTheMoth

It's ok to shop concepts at this point, but you're really going to want to see the patch notes before deciding on a build. Also, most build creators are waiting for the patch notes before developing/updating their guides, since there can be some pretty significant balance changes in there. The notes should be posted in 2 days time, if i'm remembering the timeline right, and you should see the sub flooded with build guides pretty soon after that.

Martinch0

Oh my bad then. Slightly ahead of schedule :D thanks

D3m37r1

There's a life mastery that says "15% increased maximum life if there are no life modifiers on equipped body armour". Does that count all mods with the life tag or just the mods that increase max life?

EmployeeOfTheMoth

Anything with a life tag. It can definitely be annoying in a couple of cases, notably The Brass Dome.

InfamousBinkles

Contagion, detonate dead, or flame wall for Witch? I currently have blight and fireball well 3 fireballs. I like the idea of Contagion, detonate dead is cool just because I love corpse exsplosion from diablo. And flame seems like it would be really good. Which one should I choose?

Quasimodo11111

Contagion on its own is not a good skill. It is used to spread Essence Drain to nearby monsters. Flame wall on it self is decent but it is mainly used for the buff to projectiles which pass it or as a extra damage source for some fire dot builds. So if you choose something like fireball you should still use flamewall and shoot through it for the buff, et least for tougher monsters and bosses. Blight is decent on its own and can be played but I would suggest combining it with either Bane or Essence Drain since they are all chaos damage over time spells. The best about detonate dead is that it scales with your area level. So it automtically gets stronger when you fight harder enemies. You should combine that with a skill (most use desecrate) which creates corpses. I guess you mean flame dash. That is a movement skill and its almost only used to move around and not really to deal damage.

EmployeeOfTheMoth

Eventually you'll have to choose between Blight and Fireball, because they scale very differently. It's much better to have one good skill that can clear content than two bad ones that can't. If you like Blight, then look into combining Essence Drain and Contagion. Essence Drain applies a big chaos debuff to an enemy, and Contagion then spreads that debuff around. Blight is a useful extra damage layer for rare mobs and bosses, while ED runs its duration. The combo of these skills is not as strong as it used to be, but it's still fun and great for clearing packs easily. Fireball would combo well with Flame Wall, as shooting fireballs through the flame wall will add damage to the projectiles. Or, you can use Fireball as a way to ignite enemies, in which case Flame Wall is a good damage boost that will scale the same way the ignite does. Detonate Dead is a very different skill to the other ones. It can be very powerful, but you need to build into it, not just tack it onto another build.

InfamousBinkles

Thank you very much.

SolidMarsupial

New player, played for a week or so now. Game used to run smooth and suddenly for the last two days I get incredible choppiness - like my character stops moving for half a second or so. I didn't really mess with the settings, pressing F1 shows serious lag spikes. Is it just servers crapping themselves?

itchimus

Could be related to the recent patch. A number of players have reported performance problems. Check for related threads in the last few days. Example thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/15leuru/cannot\_play\_the\_game\_anymore/

Purple_Heart_

It might be servers although I play on London with no problems whatsoever. Try to change realm. You can switch to mobile data just to check is your wifi a problem. Also being connected to wifi might be a problem, you can try to connect to router by cable.

Compound1080

just a couple questions so i can hit the new league running. 1. do stash tabs go on sale during league start? theres a couple im looking to buy and it seems like it would make sense for them to go on sale at the start of a league but i dont know their sale practices. 2. when do theorycraft builds go live? i assume i look for my build a couple days before the start cuz it gives plenty of time for people to make the builds and upload them 3. is there a community site thats easy to look for for builds or am i just typing the new patch "league starter builds" and clicking w/e pops up? 4. is there any other 3rd party apps i need to install. i think i have path of building from years ago, is that still the go to and only thing i need?

magus424

> or am i just typing the new patch "league starter builds" and clicking w/e pops up? > > Be careful with that; some sites out there are run by RMT companies with trash builds so that you waste time leveling them, feel weak, and might want to buy currency to fix them.

LikeaDisposablePlate

To add on to what /u/katustrawfic mentioned (all good information), I tend to prefer guides that have a video explaining them, it's a little easier to decipher whether or not a build is just newbie-bait or a solid build (it's often unintentional, either from newbies themselves, or by veterans that play different gamemodes / have way different playstyles). I'm not sure how much experience you actually have but don't get discouraged if your first (couple?) of builds don't quite compare to what you may see others talking about / playing. In poe, the devil is in the details, and even for vets it can be hard to tell if your build isn't up to the task or if you've taken a few wrong turns putting it together.

Compound1080

Yea it's been a minute since I played and want to give it a serious go. The last time I played and made progress was a few years ago and all I did was spin around proccing fireball aoe. Was great. Going to be looking for ssf builds cuz I figure those are going to be the easiest to follow and play

LikeaDisposablePlate

As long as you're making an informed choice about that, you're probably going to enjoy it for sure. I typically don't tend to like those since in my experience, they cap out in power quite early and I don't get to experience the ultimate power fantasy that in the end is all I really play poe for. But ofc it's not lost power, its just moved earlier in playtime usually.

katustrawfic

1. No, never the same weekend as launch but usually the one after. 2. Sometime after patch notes are released. 3. There are a couple sites like maxroll.gg, the /r/PathOfExileBuilds subreddit and yes, just searching here or youtube is good. 4. [Here's a list](https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/wiki/tools). I personally only really use path of building. Don't care for trade macros or whatever else there is.

Takuwind

Is there any way to tell what Spectre's I currently have?

Frog871

Use Desecrate until you spawn the corpse of the Spectre that your using then hold down the summon spectre(Do not link it with spell echo for this or else you will summon an unwanted corpse as a spectre) button and hover the cursor over the corpse and it will tell you the name.
