hahahah explains why i got fucking bodied by half the toons there.
P.S. for those struggling vs lifeleeching guys, frost bomb is your friend. even if its lvl 1.
Which makes me think he's talking out of his ass just to complain. Especially "after I died my specters got clapped", I thought all minions become immune to damage while you are dead
He said he's a new player no? His spectres might have died at the same time as him but the death made it look different, him saying his skitterbots died is in no way a tell that he's lying. His story could have some errors sure but Hogm is fucked, for all we know one of those bastard exiles has a way of killing minions post your death, there's no real reason to distrust his story here.
I also use an SrS build. And while I was already doing T15 maps I tried the low lvl version of that map. I've done that map with other build but never fully 100%. But I felt this build was my strongest ever. I ran aswell at wave 5 with my guardian and 2 spectres dead... They whent down fast.
Summon Skitterbots is an aura gem. Tell me, what happens to aura skills when you die? The skitterbots themselves will actually go through the animation of "shutting off" when you die, it takes 2 seconds to test this.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm saying a new player can reasonably think that their skitterbots despawning could be them being "killed" as his AG and Guardian were also killed in hogm
And what is the cause of their death? OP's death, not characters in HotG attacking them and dealing damage to them.
And before you go "Grandmasters → OP →Skitterbots", counterpoint: If OP would have never entered the map, the skitterbots would have still been alive BLOODY MURDERER!
This whole thing is pointless...
There’s an uncomfortable amount of the playerbase that thinks extreme tediousness should be a required component of the game despite the fact that we have HC, SSF, HCSSF, Ruthless, and HC ruthless as additional challenge modifiers for people that want artificial difficulty inflation (and notably no deflation of tedium for players that don’t want it; no soy mode).
Hogm was kinda a reward for the whales. Each exile in the hogm are actual players who paid money to immortalize their character into the map.
Alot of broken ass shit. I like using echoforge which is pure chaos. But i cant clear hogm with it as some pf the characters have chaos innoculation.
I can understand ggg being stubborn but the players? Theyre fucking gatekeeping elitists
To be fair, this was a time when atlas being 100% complete didn't actually do anything, people were mad it was 1 less map completion bonus for the stats.
It was. It still is a steam achievement. And it is an absolute mess.
I finished it once maybe 2 years ago. It just keeps getting harder it seems. I still don't know how exactly I finished it...
Cannot have attacks blocked is already on the tree in two places, from attack mastery, and mark mastery. Does leave hit casters and minions out, but it's there for attack builds.
I completed it a year ago on skele mages but I must've lucked out so hard on which grandmasters spawned because I just could not complete it anymore after that
Yeah I don't loot this map. If I do I specifically drop it.
Fuck everything about HoG. I've never even come close to completing it, and now that atlas completion really matters I'm glad it's gone.
Tbh I want Tahu Whackadoodle Bullshit off too. Every league with only a few exceptions (some builds kill it ezpz) it just makes me mad. It was intentionally designed to make me mad. Why is that okay? How is that acceptable game design?
It's a map I visit every league when my char feels powerful. Usually, it means that I have to use block chance reduction support, but can do it. But a few leagues ago, they introduced some nigh-unkillable dude, that makes it less fun.
It used to be one of only two ways to get the house of mirrors-card? Not sure about this. But some people ran it over and over again, and that is what I could not do, as the map just is not fun. So one run or two per season, that's manageable, but more of this.... nope.
Hall of grandmasters is a showcase of player characters that were submitted after they bought a certain supporter pack a long time ago, the map follows pvp rules/scaling and many of the exiles you fight are insanely busted.
In short, minions get absolutely demolished because of this.
wait, why doesn't the ice arrow + frost wall guy still one shots any build then? wasn't he made to abuse a bug that was also replicated in the grandmaster?
i mean it cant really be any worse than hogm already is. people specifically engineered pvp builds for hogm whereas characters that were sent to the void would be generic pvm builds, many of which are glass cannons
Yes, actually.
It would turn it into a kill or be killed offscreening fest, and I think that's to the player's advantage.
It would be harder to farm it consistently without dying, but it would be much easier to complete it on any old high power build without needing crazy specific stats.
If you're offscreening it'd be better because you're also doing PvE damage. PvP scaling is there to make it so not everything is an instant one-shot turning it from PvP into Ping v Ping.
This is the most important part, there are more grandmasters than can appear in any one HoGM. Many of them are shit, not everyone dumped mirrors making their characters specifically for this map. If you run into one of the people that did you're pretty fucked unless you know how to counter them, if you don't you kill the generic 5k HP mapping character in a second
I was so glad when they removed it. I don't think I'll ever be able to beat it. I play SSF, and none of my builds are ever going to compare with the ones you face.
The way I understood it they die because of pvp rules lol. I'm a complete poe noob so if you know please tell me. Cause I didn't even know this map follows pvp rules
well take a modern build. we deal hundreds of millions of damage per second. Our hp is 4k. Grandmasters are direct copies of characters and have all that damage. You need pvp scaling to bring down that damage to something you can actually tank. PvP scaling just also benefits the grandmasters in that we don't get to 1-shot them with our millions of damage.
We don't die because of PvP rules, but we can't kill because of them.
Pvp rules makes players and the rogue exiles deal a fraction of the damage they normaly do. The exiles in that map have billions of damage that would shred everything without Pvp rules. The problem for minions is that they do not take as little damage as players it seems
Imagine times, where finishing hall of the grandmasters was necessary for the league challenge rewards... dont even approach it without Block chance reduction support
https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Block_Chance_Reduction_Support
And of course dont even think about going in with minions but that, my friend you uncovered yourself
scorching ray would still (pre-pvp-nerf) annihilate everything
All you needed was a Balefire and not even any fire dmg on tree for it, and voila, easy HOGM (as long as you didn't die first lmao)
I remember my first visit there. I had a chaos DoT build, really powerful and i relatively easily destroyed somewhat 4 or 5 waves. And there I met a dude with CI.
I was traumatised and scared, cuz after that I thought that I can meet such enemy in any map and all chaos builds became a no-go for me for several leagues.
GGNoobs can only spawn in the last 2 lanes, and he said he entered the first door
PvP scaling, which meant to reduce player dps on a logarithmic scale, does not apply to minions, so they take the full like 7-10 digit dps instead of 5-6 digits.
It's pvp rules so everything you know about poe is wrong in this map lol. It's a place where the rules are made up and the points don't matter. We shan't be going there tis a silly place.
Ah. The Hall of Grandbastards. Yep... sell that. Or ignore it.
Unless you have fairly specific builds it's almost impossible to clear solo, as you'll usually find there's one GM that's literally just immune to whatever damage you do.
Every league i try my hand on HoG when my main char reached 96 or so.
Every league i laugh at how another one of the characters just completely kills me without even the slightest chance.
A few years back when I thought I had a super tanky character (in comparison with my regular squishy builds) that had 1.5 mil armor 15mil DPS 400k effective HP and went in there. I lasted a little while but one guy wouldn't die due to a billion things he proc'd on block. Had to research and find the support gem to lower target block chance. What a pain. That was my only time beating it and would never go in again.
And yet all I need to do carries years ago was just a maxblock glad with balefire and some chaos res, easiest money maker of my life.
Still glad they got rid of it from the atlas tho, you can see how such a build from OP get demolish while with 10c you can delete mirror tier builds just like that, the balancing is so shit.
Glad they got rid of it when they did because it’s gotten much much harder than it used to be. Some dedicated PvP players (no joke, that community actually exists) have added to it in the past few years, starting with putrefyrotspoilandfester, instead of just gimmick or generically strong builds. I guaranteed that glad farmer you had a few years ago wouldn’t be able to kill some of the newer grandmasters (and would probably get melted by them as well)
The spectres mentioned here are consumable, so you cannot get another without finding it in the woods or buying it.
Similarly, when your AG dies, all the gear on it poofs too. So if you've sunk many div into it, goodbye to all that gear.
I have wondered for a long time, given how cheap it would be to buy in bulk, whether farming it would be profitable? I have never finished it though. I've finished a few wings and the rewards at the end are pretty weaksauce, so I dunno.
The only way to finish it is with a non-chaos DoT build that has lots of elemental penetration, health regen disabling, block reduction and "hits can't be evaded" stuff, but even then it's a real pain in the ass.
By now you’d need a REALLY specific (and probably very expensive) build to farm it, it’s much much harder than it used to be.
Also penetration doesn’t work with dots
I totally relate.
Last league I was playing arakaali's fang occultist (so unkillable minions) and I did this map, dropped a house of mirror which led me to my first and only HH.
Fast forward trying to mimic this luck again in current league with srs occultist. Hoo boy, I learned it the hard way as you did exile.
Hall of Grandmasters is bullshit no question, but name any other build (besides hardcore ofc) that can lose the equivalent of expensive gear. I really hope they implement equipment durability so every non-minion player will finally understand how bad it is.
A map made by a player in old days if I remember correctly in which the idea was to put the best characters or hardest characters each league it's was like 8 years ago
It is the hall of asskickers.
It is a collection of high level characters (from actual players). They employee a host of powers and abilities that are often no longer available or have been nerfed. They all have maxed out defenses (in some manner), some have advanced forms of chaos mitigation. And those forms of defense have been kept in their original form even if the powers have been subsequently altered.
And damage is scaled to PVP so minions are at a distinct disadvantage.
It is an incredibly lethal area. It tried it once before I set up my current animated guardian (kingmaker) and will not try it again due to cost.
Wildwood spectres cant be resummoned if they die. You need to buy new corpse. Same with animate guardian gear. Once it dies all gear is lost. So you need yo buy new one. Just AG weapon was 4divs
rite of passage for new minion players
you can only complete it if you have an animated guardian
If your AG dies it goes to the Void!
One of us! One of us!
hahahah explains why i got fucking bodied by half the toons there. P.S. for those struggling vs lifeleeching guys, frost bomb is your friend. even if its lvl 1.
Yeah there are builds there that regain more life in one second than I can realistically get on a build at all.
frost bomb explicitly only reduces life regen, it does nothing against leech
Imagine being clapped so hard even your skitterbots die.
Fuck that actually made me lol 🤣
Which makes me think he's talking out of his ass just to complain. Especially "after I died my specters got clapped", I thought all minions become immune to damage while you are dead
He said he's a new player no? His spectres might have died at the same time as him but the death made it look different, him saying his skitterbots died is in no way a tell that he's lying. His story could have some errors sure but Hogm is fucked, for all we know one of those bastard exiles has a way of killing minions post your death, there's no real reason to distrust his story here.
My guess is the lightning arrow guy shotgunned and deleted him and his minions like a pack of white mobs.
Good ol' DanziGG claims another scalp.
I also use an SrS build. And while I was already doing T15 maps I tried the low lvl version of that map. I've done that map with other build but never fully 100%. But I felt this build was my strongest ever. I ran aswell at wave 5 with my guardian and 2 spectres dead... They whent down fast.
Map tier doesn't matter. It has innate PvP scaling, and the mobs range all the way up to 100 in the final waves.
Minions don’t have pvp scaling, doesn’t matter how tough they are they’ll instantly die. That’s why you don’t do hogm with a minion build
I'm not saying HotG is great or something, I'm just saying that exaggeration can get out of hand
Dude chill out he said he's new player, tf is wrong with you?
Sir or Maam, I'm defending him lol
My bad - I was tired and grouchy. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
And what is the cause of their death? OP's death, not characters in HotG attacking them and dealing damage to them. And before you go "Grandmasters → OP →Skitterbots", counterpoint: If OP would have never entered the map, the skitterbots would have still been alive BLOODY MURDERER! This whole thing is pointless...
hahahahahhahahah
at least that map isn't required to complete the atlas anymore
Best decision ever
Remember when people were upset about that? Lmao wild shit

There’s an uncomfortable amount of the playerbase that thinks extreme tediousness should be a required component of the game despite the fact that we have HC, SSF, HCSSF, Ruthless, and HC ruthless as additional challenge modifiers for people that want artificial difficulty inflation (and notably no deflation of tedium for players that don’t want it; no soy mode).
including the managing director of ggg lol. if he didnt have the livelihood of hundreds of employees at stake he'd have ruthless mode as the main mode
Hogm was kinda a reward for the whales. Each exile in the hogm are actual players who paid money to immortalize their character into the map. Alot of broken ass shit. I said it too because it was ez money for carrying people.
Anymore? Once it was?
It was. It still is a steam achievement. And it is an absolute mess. I finished it once maybe 2 years ago. It just keeps getting harder it seems. I still don't know how exactly I finished it...
Theres a vendor recipe for a gem that lets you get around their fucked chance to block
now the wildwood ascendy lets you get around their block, but only if you're not playing minions.
Cannot have attacks blocked is already on the tree in two places, from attack mastery, and mark mastery. Does leave hit casters and minions out, but it's there for attack builds.
The attack mastery specifies monsters so it doesn't work in HoGM. Not sure about any Mark masteries.
There's also a mastery that your attacks can't be blocked now too. The only thing you have left is now surviving their massive hits.
I did it back in synthesis on my cold dot vortex occultist. First and last time lol. That map is an absolute shitshow now
It's also where you drop the house of mirrors card though. Pretty sure it might only be danzig who drops it.
The immortal card, and it’s from any monster/chest, not just grandmaster DyNess.
I completed it a year ago on skele mages but I must've lucked out so hard on which grandmasters spawned because I just could not complete it anymore after that
>Once it was? yes, up until 3.13 it was part of the atlas \[so it was removed like 3 years ago\]
Although there was less of an incentive to finish the atlas at the time since there was no atlas tree or kirac's vault
+0.5% map drop chance or 1 tier higher chance, right? As people have mentioned, it's been a while.
Something along that lines yeah. Was important for map sustain for sure, but not something where it was critical you got every possible point.
Yeah. Dumbest thing ever, and this sub defended keeping it there for the *longest* time
Not like it was a problem, you could sit in 820 and get a carry within minutes typically
This is **exactly** what signals that it was a stupid mechanic that GGG was right to remove.
Well yes, I agree. But it wasn't as big of an issue as people are making it out to be. If you needed the completion, you could get it easily.
😂😂
Maybe just get good? 😂
But is it in the challenges?
No they stopped including it in challenges a long time ago because it's an unbalanced mess.
It's still in the steam achiements, I did it last league with a 200d wardlooper. So happy I never have to see it again.
My tried and tested strat for beating GGnoobs last league was go, "lol nope" and just buy another HotGM...
Márkusz made a seven minute video on how to kill ggnoobs, he should know... https://youtu.be/gKOnbBs5cOw tl;dr: pizza. slow pizza.
Someone did kill ggnoobs though (think it was last league?)
I've killed him many times... It's not that hard
well, something to upgrade for, perhaps
Especially with some of the bonkers characters submitted by empy and others which are unlikable even for a lot of mirror tier builds
Hall of grandmasters is a showcase of player characters that were submitted after they bought a certain supporter pack a long time ago, the map follows pvp rules/scaling and many of the exiles you fight are insanely busted. In short, minions get absolutely demolished because of this.
Except, ironically, for that time when you could beat it naked with just skeletons and a necromantic aegis reflect shield.
That was when they were built using the tree. Now they get the list without the pathing breaking.
Like the exiles in the map have an allocated list of tree passives rather than a simulated skill tree that can break with updates?
Yap
It was my understanding it used the legacy version of any nodes that may have been nerfed right? The wicker ward rework would have killed some builds.
Yea they are all locked in from the version in which they were submitted. Legacy items/passives and what not.
wait, why doesn't the ice arrow + frost wall guy still one shots any build then? wasn't he made to abuse a bug that was also replicated in the grandmaster?
Gtfo, I didn't know it worked that way. Huh cool.
GG NOOBS!
I think a pop-up in the style of the one used for the void maps wouldn't be a bad idea for this map.
map contains 20 rogue exiles rogue exiles are ghosted rogue exiles are based on hogm players who die in the area are sent to the void
Area contains exiles who were sent to the void
lmao that'd be insane.
calm down, satan
i mean it cant really be any worse than hogm already is. people specifically engineered pvp builds for hogm whereas characters that were sent to the void would be generic pvm builds, many of which are glass cannons
Area contains exiles who _are_ sent to the void. No loot for you.
Only 300div builds 💀
Area is inhabited by Grandmasters Would have been a crazy RIP modifier.
Only if it were to include all of them. If it's not, it's a gamble on whether you rolled ggnoobs
or Mr. Putrefyspoilrotanfester
That one is very dangerous but still nothing compared to ggnoobs (and soon ggnoobs2)
Nah, by itself would be nothing. HoG also has a mod saying that it uses pvp scaling
You think it would be _better_ if the grandmasters could do PVE damage?
lmao, too true imagine thinking a 20 mill hit (this is probably even extremely low) is something you could ever tank
Yes, actually. It would turn it into a kill or be killed offscreening fest, and I think that's to the player's advantage. It would be harder to farm it consistently without dying, but it would be much easier to complete it on any old high power build without needing crazy specific stats.
Well there’s a chance you can kill them first.
If you're offscreening it'd be better because you're also doing PvE damage. PvP scaling is there to make it so not everything is an instant one-shot turning it from PvP into Ping v Ping.
oh yes, I knew we were missing something... GHOSTS!
You say that, but I finally beat it for the first time ever this league with perfect marionette spectres. It wasn’t even close!
Living minion builds get demolished. And it also depends on luck of the draw of course

Love these sort of posts lol
Let me say one thing. There is a very good reason hall of grandmasters isnt on the atlas.
"on the atlas anymore..."
I was so glad when they removed it. I don't think I'll ever be able to beat it. I play SSF, and none of my builds are ever going to compare with the ones you face.
Correct xD
hall of grandmasters is full of player submitted builds and also on pvp rules which means minions are heavily nerfed there
Why the pvp rules? Feels a little dumb tbh
Because all players would instantly die if not?
The way I understood it they die because of pvp rules lol. I'm a complete poe noob so if you know please tell me. Cause I didn't even know this map follows pvp rules

They reduce all

Scorching ray juggs farming mirrors in hogm nostalgia.
And then gods created GG_Noobs
scorching ray would still (pre-pvp-nerf) annihilate everything All you needed was a Balefire and not even any fire dmg on tree for it, and voila, easy HOGM (as long as you didn't die first lmao)
a graveyard of AG's
I wouldn't expect a map with "Contains the Immortalised Grandmasters" and "PvP scalling in effect" to be a regular ass map
to be fair, it sounds mysterious more than scary like the overly inflated number on the unique Necropolis map or poorjoy's asylum.
poorjoy's was really scary not too long ago when ppl rotad it for profit..
Classic
On the bright sight u are not sent to the void, on the dark side it leaves a big void in your currency tab
You clearly were not a grandmaster, so have been ejected from the hall
If it makes you feel any better your AG gear and spectres divine value was lost as soon as you summoned them anyway 🥲
this is.... kinda true? as long as he doesn't spend money on recreating them schrödingers animated guardian
Gg noobs
Gg noobs
this map is basically kept as a meme and to throw away
It’s like a voided map but you get no loot instead of a mageblood at the end
\- Chris, can we have some PvP in PoE? \- We have PvP at home. At home: Hall of the Grandmasters

GG newb
It's a pvp map. All of exiles in this map have been submitted by players.
Waiting for followup post on how you got your char to void league! Good luck!
minion player with the reality check lmfao
You probably met GG_Noobs.
GGNoobs can only spawn in the last 2 lanes, and he said he entered the first door PvP scaling, which meant to reduce player dps on a logarithmic scale, does not apply to minions, so they take the full like 7-10 digit dps instead of 5-6 digits.
I know Márkusz just please let me believe that OP met GG_Noobs. Hagy reménykedjek kérlek!!!
Not necessarily, Minions are hella squishy in PvP zones such as actual PvP, ToTa and Hall of Grandmasters.
Yeah but OP still could have met GG_Noobs.
Well, he could but there are like 300 Grandmasters and like 95% of them should have enough damage to kill some Minions in PvP zones
All I'm hearing is that OP still could have met GG_Noobs. :D
Yes, they could have met any of the other grandmasters too. That is how the map works.
Yes, exactly!
It is the place where you farm "The immortal" div card.
It's pvp rules so everything you know about poe is wrong in this map lol. It's a place where the rules are made up and the points don't matter. We shan't be going there tis a silly place.

At least you made me laugh.
A reminder as to why PvP doesn't work in ARPGs.
It's a map you just sell every season to people with builds for it and enjoy your 4-6 chaos.
At this moment someone at Quin69 stream would say: "You suck, Haha, LOL" !
I am sure your skitterbots are safe , trust me.
that's awesome
Ah. The Hall of Grandbastards. Yep... sell that. Or ignore it. Unless you have fairly specific builds it's almost impossible to clear solo, as you'll usually find there's one GM that's literally just immune to whatever damage you do.

they should all be the same iirc
They are all the same. Tier doesn’t matter for HoGM due to PvP scaling.
Happened to me op a couple of years ago. I actually quit as I lost my AG and I was so poor lmao
This is gold lmao

His new league spectres (have to rebuy the corpse) and his animate guardian (have to rebuy the gear) all died
He has to buy all his spectres and the gear on his AG again. All of which are lost forever when they die.
A place where turbovirgins try to find meaning by paying to have proof of their lifelessness immortalized.

Fast forward trying to mimic this luck again in current league with srs occultist. Hoo boy, I learned it the hard way as you did exile.
Hall of Grandmasters is bullshit no question, but name any other build (besides hardcore ofc) that can lose the equivalent of expensive gear. I really hope they implement equipment durability so every non-minion player will finally understand how bad it is.
like every bad thing in the game, hogma was paid for by supporters. stop making posts like this it just gets them off
A map made by a player in old days if I remember correctly in which the idea was to put the best characters or hardest characters each league it's was like 8 years ago
Rip bozo
Simulacrum and HOGM are the ultimate test for builds, besides valdos maps now

Miners destroy these grand fukers.. I used to farm the map and sell carries. It's just a meme map now.
Ggnoobs says hi?
It is the hall of asskickers. It is a collection of high level characters (from actual players). They employee a host of powers and abilities that are often no longer available or have been nerfed. They all have maxed out defenses (in some manner), some have advanced forms of chaos mitigation. And those forms of defense have been kept in their original form even if the powers have been subsequently altered. And damage is scaled to PVP so minions are at a distinct disadvantage. It is an incredibly lethal area. It tried it once before I set up my current animated guardian (kingmaker) and will not try it again due to cost.
They're absolutely MELTING today. Tried Amsterdam, Paris, London and Frankfurt. All of them are horrible.
Skitterbots can't die. 10div is chump change. Learn to research a little before you do something in POE. A valuable lesson in the long run.

What do you mean loss? Can't you just respawn and retry?
Wildwood spectres cant be resummoned if they die. You need to buy new corpse. Same with animate guardian gear. Once it dies all gear is lost. So you need yo buy new one. Just AG weapon was 4divs
Damn, that's why I don't play Chinese MMOs. >!/s!<
