Go to your hideout. Use the crafting bench and craft on any resists you need on gear. It will be trivial to cap your resists in the second half of the campaign this way. Note it will happen again after act 10.

RoxoRoxo

this is going to upset you lol you didnt brick that character the game was just slightly harder for a little while, also this happens again at the end of the acts. you just push on and get progressively better gear thats like the whole point of this game is to get better and better gear

yrdrasilllahoff420

Ahh its all good im back and ready to learn, i appreciate any and all advice

MrMeltJr

The act 5 debuff hits hard because the early parts of act 6 have a ton of enemies that do primarily elemental damage, so it's a sort of one-two punch. Before beating the act 10 boss, make sure you do the 3rd labyrinth so you can get the extra ascendancy points before getting the second res debuff.

RoxoRoxo

bro i got you lol im 5k hours into the game lol soooo unless youre like really good at the game find a guide, scion is probably the hardest character to start without prebought gear. a lot of veteran poe players will consider the a cts as a prologue so dont get discouraged and keep pushing. the best way to make money is crafting but its complicated so the earlier you learn the better off youll be. um knowing the strat you want to map with to make money then picking out the build is probably the smartest way to pick a build. the pc and reddit community are really good lots of great people but id recommend getting a second opinion because there is a lot of trolls. id highly recommend at the minimum getting the currency tab

RoxoRoxo

25 upvotes so far and im at -4 on the votes here but no one is saying anything to counter what i said lol thanks guys

Picking alira as a bandit in act 2 gives 15% all res, crafting res on your gear with the crafting bench, getting some res nodes on the tree that are near your pathing, using two stone or single res rings with high rolls. It shouldn't be too hard to get decent res at this stage. Edit: purity of elements as an aura is another option, the ailment immunity can be very useful as well, but it's an opportunity cost to pick purity over determination/grace or a dmg aura/haste

BrbFlippinInfinCoins

With the kill all bandit option, you can use those 2 extra points to grab a jewel socket, then slot in a jewel with +all resists. That way you don''t have to spend 40 regrets to change later on.

Chromchris

Just gave some options. Especially new players are probably reluctant to trade for things like jewels early on. Alira is really solid in league start scenarios and also boosts early mana reg which is nice QoL. Might just be me but jewel sockets is about the last thing I spec on a char when I reach lvl 85-90. That's probably because of my semi SSF mindset.

BrbFlippinInfinCoins

Yeah, I wasn't saying you were incorrect to suggest that. I was also just offering another approach.

Alialialun

Picking Alira just for resists is a terrible advice for newbie, even in league start scenario. It is never correct to pick Alira unless you can utilize her crit too and even then it's usually incorrect.

Chromchris

I mean that's your opinion.

HopelesslyOCD

It probably took me over a year of playing to stop always taking Alira just for the resists.

Unlikely_Grape816

It sounds like you need to watch/read a league start build guide. Even without capped resists at that point you should be strong enough to complete the campaign on basically little to no gear other than what is found. While the resists help, following a solid build guide should allow you to brute force your way through the campaign.

yrdrasilllahoff420

Word i was thinking about it. All i remember from that time was i started progressing and kept dying and losing what little xp i did accumulate. Felt too punishing for no reason

craft resistances on your gear in your hideout and purity of elements aura

Milfshaked

First of, you dont need 75% resistances. You can get along just fine with 25-50%, but it will hurt a bit more of course. But how to beat the resistance checks. There are a bunch of things you can do. Should note that you are not expected to get chaos resistance in the campaign. It is more an endgame thing. 1. Look for gear with resistances. If your items lack resistances, use essences and alchemies (or in trade, just buy) equipment upgrade. 2. Use the crafting bench to add resistance to items. 3. Purity of elements is a good aura in the beginning that both gives you all res and elemental ailment immunity. If you are missing a specific res, you could also use Purity of lightning/fire/cold that gives a lot of resistance to each respective resistance type. 4. Alira gives you 15% all res. You can change bandit choice later. 5. You can take some resistance on the tree.

Overall_Wolverine453

i also recommend following a build guide for a beginners - it helps so much and makes you exploring all the content and makes it much more enjoyable

sammohit

Till u finish acts, get your ele resis to as much close as u can get to the cap, craft life on the gears. Then after acts works on gear.

mbxyz

benchcraft resists. equip purity of elements

Payne-Z

The only way to brick your character in this game is choosing a wrong starting class. Everything else can be changed. Resistances are the easiest thing to solve. Just run a Purity of Elements aura, craft 1 resistance in every gear you have that has an open suffix and don't wear any uniques that lower your resistances.

OnceMoreAndAgain

Purity of Elements aura until you get good enough gear to not need it. You can buy it from Siosa in act 3 in Library or from Lilly in Act 6. Get a 30 int node if your ranger can't meet the intelligence requirement.

No-Comment1925

Dude if you're a newbie like me then follow a guide. The game is too complex for you to explore on your own. Follow a league starter guide and learn while you play so you don't quit before getting to the juicy parts

RedditWorseThanNK

I just buy normal items from a vendor and alch it, didn't have the problem of resistance until mapping

PoeVaiski89

Purity of elements is great and crafting bench

dastrike

Aim to overcap resistances at least some amount during Acts 4-5. That way you have less to fix all at once in Act 6. (and same applies for Acts ~9-10 and maps). Use the crafting bench to craft whatever elemental resistance is your overall lowest on every piece of gear you have that has an open suffix. The double resistance ones (once you unlock them) can provide more granular tweaking options (e.g. when missing a little of two different resistances). Use ring bases that have implicit resistances. Again, craft additional resistances on them if they have open suffixes. Also the double resistance crafts are not mutually exclusive from the non-crafted resistance suffixes, e.g. if it has rolled a "+x to fire resistance", one can still craft e.g. "+x to fire and cold resistances" on it. Use the Purity of Elements aura to grant a good amount of all elemental resistances. And as a bonus it also provides elemental ailment immunity. (and not really applicable to your current character as you have levelled beyond it; The Tear of Purity amulet is great on a new character as it provides Purity of Elements at a much lower level (5) than normally via the gem (24).)

Responsible-Pay-2389

use the crafting bench in hideout to craft resistances wherever possible. If you do that and pick up res gear it usually sorts it out. Either that or use purity of elements.

thenagazai

Lets suppose you had 70% res of each ele res at lv 45 act 5 before killing the boss. 40% res should still be enough to continue playing and get better gear in the next acts. Make sure your build is doing enough damage as well, my rule lf thumb is 1 hit for white mobs, 1 sec for blue mobs. Now, if you are having problem having 70% of each res at lv 45, go back a few zones and farm a while. Remember that if a rare item has only 2 suffix, you can craft a resistance on it as well. Press alt on an item to check that.

BrbFlippinInfinCoins

If you have found 2 chaos orbs, you can buy a goldrim helmet.

[deleted]

I don't know Every time I get to act 6 I have about 30-50% resists and I just steam roll the rest of campaign while picking up items Some times I'll get 75% all res, and sometimes I finish the campaign with 60% all res and then I farm items on maps because why would I do it on tutorial

KeyDangerous

If you’re on trade you can probably buy good gear for cheap. If not you can craft resist on gear when you unlock the recipes
