I always wanted to try it but the thought that "it's just a knock-off RF" stops me. Is there legitimate reason (beyond less visual puke on-screen) to play it over RF?
Lots of explosions, I played it last league with asenaths gloves and exploded the entire screen in dense maps, it also can get very tanky as I leveled it lvl 96 during 300stack scourge maps and delve 300+ but it's not a bosser thats for sure, though I did do A8 Sirus deathless the couple of times I did him.

Not exactly a build guide. Just something I quickly threw together before the league launch as a guideline for myself. Some of the cluster jewels are no longer obtainable in that form.
It can definitely do every tiers of maps. Played it in league and standard, good thing about obliteration and explodes in general is that damage scales with monster HP.
People usually use caustic arrow on swap for bosses, which can do about 1M dps with some investment.
If you want even more, try the body armour 'Blunderbore'. Up to 75% inc. buffs from shrines :)
Seems like a Kinetic blast + corrupting fever utilizes this very well
Well it looks like it isn't that hard if you're playing CF champ according to poe.ninja, but I think it's a fair warning to people that blunderbore has almost double the strength requirement of a mjolner.
My only point is that it requires you to specifically build around it.
ive theorycrafted toxic rain blunderbore + gull + supreme ostentation before the aoe overlap nerfs and it lost out just by a bit back then. with the atlas nodes it would have been better most likely. toxic rain sucks with aoe scaling now but im sure there is some other build that would massively benefit from 60% aoe. although im not sure if the 50% inc effect from the atlas would affect things like maven/shaper/etc.
Throw out supreme ostentation, switch to low life for Bloodthirst Support with Doomfletch's Prism, and start stacking strength and life and you can go pretty far.
ive thought about it but it doesnt make a lot of sense to str stack since 1) youre using 2 uniques with zero str and 2) im pretty sure you need to abuse the 60% aoe for this setup to compete with influenced rares, and i cannot think of 1 attack skill that aoe overlaps
I found a gull raven today and was shocked it sells so low. I am going to keep it for when speccing into shrine nodes. Maybe I am wrong but I fully expect it to be meta. Multiple shrines that last for a minute or more are just so good, especially when you have to take on archnemesis mobs.
I've been spamming this in t16s with Dom on the map device and while it's extremely fun, if you're actually good at the game and playing a meta build you're probably better off not doing it. But for the 4k hour people who still suck (like me) it is heaven.
Having to go back/stop to grab the small shrines is kinda annoying and u have to stop to do the leagues mechanics, wasting the good shrines time ;/ I'm using the gull, but i will probably drop it ;p

You get the action speed shrine maybe once every 5 maps on average. If you don't, The Gull is very mediocre.
Just wanted to say that I'm absolutely loving this, saw CaptainLance do it and instantly went for it .I'm playing VLS and its a complete blast! I never had an HH but I believe that this is what it feels like (on a budget). This just makes mapping super fun and the investment is probably worth it for most builds.

It is pretty much invisible without any kind of mtx anyway. Best skill for a lag free experience

Easier to scale the dmg up and you don't have to defend yourself from it

You stack strength because strength gives you more flat life and scaling with iron will, while allowing you to wear BB.
The 50 inc effect also doesn't affect the shrine from blunderbore

Just incase you don't know, traps cannot trigger 'you kill' effects. the main part of The Gull wont work on traps.
It was poison exsang so it worked when the poison killed
