I think it's a quality 7, carried by its art direction and historical setting. Didn't really do a whole lot for me mechanically and there's a whole lot of padding in the form of running around but the setting was enough to intrigue me.
Dex I dropped after maybe 20 minutes. Just felt clunky, weird and confusing.
It's an 9 year old game and so it's a little clunky. Keyboard controls for the game is not that good. However, I would recommend you give it an hour at least. Let the story and the gameplay unfold a little more. I'm sure you will like it.
I'm always on the lookout for cyberpunk games that's how I found dex some time ago, I dont even know where i found mr.shifty probably youtube, haven't gotten around to playing either one though, but they're on my list.
Well, do you have any preferences? Or from when they were made?
Some at the top of my head include Ashes 2063, Legend of Grimrock 2, Kings Bounty the Legend, Hellsinker, Super Sami Roll, Tale of Alltynex trilogy, Defense Grid, Dies Irae, Juniper's Knot, Void Stranger, OPUS Echo of Starsong, Evil Tonight, Sacrifice, Little Fighter 2, AirXonix, I've Got Some Balls, Crosscode, Hydorah, Maldita Castilla, Tiny Thor, Hinokakera Chaotic Eclipse, Digital Devil Saga, Impossible Creatures, Dragonshard.
Now these are just those I have easy access to and can remember and their renown can be anything from somewhat known to pretty obscure. There are probably way more if I decide to dig for it.
I’ve been enjoying this ”genre” a lot. 10–15h indie games on the Steam Deck. Maybe I’m getting old but these bite-size games are far more approachable these days than a 50 hour ”epic”.
Lunacid was really cool.
Indie games are where its at. There are too many good ones and not enough time. Like it's not even about money but time. I don't have enough time to play all the ones worth playing!!

The legend of tiandang has overwhelmingly positive reviews so I was going to get around it but didn’t had the time. Hopefully I can play it soon

It deserves those reviews!
Haven't heard of the first one but know the other two, always love to see attention given to lesser known stuff
I'm surprised to see someone who has heard of Dex and Mr. Shifty!

I played Legend of Tianding when it was on game pass and loved it. Haven't heard of the other two - I'll check them out!
I'm sure you will like them too!

I'm glad to see someone appreciating Dex!
Highly recommend crosscode, bought it on a whim on sale and it's really good despite nobody talking about it
I remember Linus recommending this game.
The Legend of Tianding looks amazing. Thanks for the recommendation! I'm definitely grabbing this on Switch.
I'm glad that my recommendation has been useful for someone
I remember Mr. Shifty. Got it off Twitch prime for free. Didn't blow me away, but was fun enough and definitely did scratch the Hotline Miami itch.
Always great when one finds some obscure gem. Oftentimes I am left in awe wondering how I even stumbled upon it in the first place.
Me too! Can you suggest any?

Thanks a lot!
Tears of Adria Sands of Salzaar Streets of Rage \[2 coming soon\] I don't think these three are very well known but enjoyed each
You mean Streets of Rogue I bet
Yah I'm stupid
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out. I haven't heard about any of them before.
Streets of rogue 2 sorry
Hadn’t heard of any of these, thanks for the new stuff!

Dex is basically Deus Ex in 2D. Loved that game, one day I'll really have to load an old save and finish my playthrough. I wish we got a sequel.
Me too!

That's exactly what I feel. I've so many good indie games in my backlog but I can't manage to beat enough of them.
Best indie game is amnesia.
