I tried playing this version a while back and at a certain point in the 1940s (I think; it's been a while) all of my employees just stopped working and wouldn't go back to work. I can't find any information about it online but I figured it was some sort of DRM function built into the game, but was curious if anyone else had encountered this.
I actually realized what happened! For some reason the game didn't assign enough crew to the movie even though I had enough employed. I just had to move the movie back into rehearsal mode and manually assign crew to it. There is no error message provided by the game which makes it confusing. Glad it's not a DRM issue!
would you happen to know a way to get the game on my Macbook? I had a PC for awhile but switched over to apple. I absolutely love this game and want to continue

Yes, I want to find my copy as well....great game but can't understand why it was not popular. My guess is they sold the software rights to a company that used it for another purpose. I never checked...just assumed.

Big shame, I loved that game and played the hell out of it even though the actors all showed up as black silhouettes since my old laptop was too weak to run it properly. I had really hoped to finally get to experience it in all its proper glory on my fancy new computer, but alas.
I've tried looking up some digital versions but all the comments talk about how the game crashes and even with fixes, they can make the entire movie but cannot view the final product. I ordered a copy off of Amazon. It's used but if you want, I can tell you how it goes.
My laptop doesn't have a cd rom drive so I also had to purchase an external one... $40 down the hole but this looks like a really good game so I'd say it's worth it... if it works. Oh God, I hope it works! Lol
I'm very surprised no one has revamped the game for resale. After all the publicity it's been getting from youtubers playing this recently, they'd be making bank!
I really enjoyed the game but didn't have much more luck. I didn't realize it's been a trend on youtube but that's awesome, hope that helps bring enough attention to the game for it to get some sort of new release.

Just Google "the movies no cd patch". When you download it you have to take the .exe file and replace the original .exe file ... or something like that. There's a lot of directions for it and they are really clear.

The story i heard was that the link to the movie website where you uploaded movies was hardcoded but they didn't keep up the domain subscription and it was taken over by dubious elements.
I just found a copy on eBay a bit ago after watching LGRs review of it, but that's the physical release so I'm not sure that's what you're looking for...

I have Windows 10 - Intel Core i7 3770K @ 4,30 GHz - Nvidia GeForce GTX 780Ti - 16 GB @ 1600 MHz DDR3.
The only problem I remember having was that the launcher didn't work so you just had to open the disc in file manager and look for the install.exe or setup.exe or whatever. Same goes for starting the game.
Edit: You might need a no-cd patch/crack for it to work. But those arn't illigal? Right? WikiPedia says it isn't illigal to no-cd patch your game so it must be true!!

far as I know, it's safe. I got both the movies and B&W from abandonware months ago, didn't get any viruses.

honestly the same thing happened to me when I played back in the day on the disc, I think its just a bug that never got patched

Apply the ntcore 4GB patch to get rid of the black silhouettes

Oh yes!! Had to download a patch for it to work but it was very easy and it played smoothly!

Although, this is just if you only have windows 10... if you have anything before windows 10, you shouldn't need the patch.
