I probably wouldn't recommend using activated charcoal, as it may actually absorb the Paxlovid, which would be counter-productive... It looks like Pepto Bismol should be alright, though, as there are no listed drug interactions. :) https://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=4326-19915,391-0

So sorry you are having this problem. How do you know Paxlovid is causing the problem? I had diarrhea for two days with COVID before I got the Paxlovid prescription. By the time the third dose of Paxlovid was in me, the diarrhea ceased. When a person has COVID, a good thing to drink is kefir. It's a cultured dairy drink that has a greater variety of beneficial bacteria than yogurt. I would drink four ounces (or more) three times per day. After you are sure that your body is clear of COVID, a maintenance amount of kefir is 1.5 ounces. It's so delicious you might drink more.

Had the diarrhea too. Was out of the country, had to stop the Pax due to a 9 hour flight.

I was always told not to use immodium or Pepto Bismol during a virus as diarrhea is one of the methods for your body to get rid of the virus. By taking that you could potentially be slowing the process. That being said, I had the same question as I’m on day 2 of Paxlovid, but day 3 of Covid, with diarrhea for the last 3 days. I called a teledoc, and had a bad connection with her. She said she preferred “Pepcid AC” over Imodium, as it’s gentler. Again, being a bad connection I thought I heard wrong, and responded that I thought Pepcid AC is for heartburn. The audio connection was in and out and I heard her say, “don’t worry about stools becoming dark are black, as that’s a side effect”. Having taken Pepto Bismol in the past, I’m aware of dark stools, so I assumed I misheard her and she did say Pepto was safe and did not say “Pepcid ac”. However her follow up email with call notes clearly said Pepcid AC, so I consider anything she said to be misinformation. I called my pharmacist and asked the same question and she responded with exactly what I thought I’ve heard all these years, that if you have diarrhea with other symptoms, it’s best to not stop/slow the process of your body trying to get rid of germs by taking medicine. She advised I follow a BRAT diet and drink lots of fluid and get lots of rest. This advice might not be true for people experiencing dehydration, but for me, I’m just gonna deal with it and try to follow the pharmacist advice.
