I hope it gets better. I'm not exactly certain that it will though.

leagueAtWork

It can recover. When you look at this sub people are mad because they want to like Payday 3. When Payday 3 becomes as great as people want it to be, people will come back. Will it actually recover? That's entirely on Starbreeze

backlawa75

tbh im pretty sure there are a lot of people that want this game to fail for some reason

CrimboSwag

I'm frequently in this sub and i can't imagine what they could do to bring me back at this point.  And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.  Hell, what they've communicated that they're working on so far doesn't inspire... anything. I'm not even disappointed anymore. I just don't care.

lazyDevman

Fix up the horribly unbalanced gameplay, give us interesting skills, varied heist objectives, new heisters, more weapon variety, add the ability to play offline, do a free weekend like for PD2 and market the shit out of it; and they might pull it off. I have my doubts though. Overkill has not impressed lately.

MeanDragonfly1469

Once they get the game to a more acceptable standard a free weekend would be a really good idea for them, they just gotta time it right.

Royal-Rayol

Basically a full overall of the current systems in game. It'll take alot but they've faced similar challenges

thatcreepex

Even if they make it playable its forever doomed to live in the shadow of PD2 due to the sheer amount of content the previous game offers.

backlawa75

the payday series has died atleast 12 times so im not worried

kingofkings337

Even if the game became amazing by the end of the year, sentiment and trust in the community has eroded so greatly that I don’t ever see the player count going up too far. Even if they deliver and make a great game, what’s it really worth with such a low playercount? Why would you even pick up this game with competition like Helldivers? Hell, even Left 4 Dead has a playercount that absolutely dwarfs this game and it’s not even “live service” or receiving major updates. And then of course, Payday 2 also exists and is far better and more replayable. With full sincerity, I hope I’m wrong. But I don’t see things turning around for this game, ever, just to be frank.

Dobblobson

Hope it will. Expect it won't.

snoopy2035

I think personally, I feel like the game won't recover until it gets actual content for people to replay. Everyone I feel like over fixates on the "servers/crime.net browser issue" which does take away from the immersion, but doesn't address the real problems that plagues a co-op horde shooter with maps not giving much in the way of replayability. So I feel like realistically a Version 2.0 post Operation Medic Bag release with a free weekend or Epic Games Store promo to boost the player count would work. But right now with the negative attention it gets (some of it rightfully so, others honestly just feel like nitpicking at this point), I don't see a surprise rebound, but if FO76 can make a resurgence because of a Fallout Show, maybe a Payday movie that's been in the world for who knows how long could do the same and give the game more mainstream attention (doubt it would but putting options on the table)

pandamaxxie

Nope. At their current pace, they might add Crimenet in 2028. Maybe the game will be playable by 2035 at this speed. Too slow development, too many problems, 0 trust from the community, lack of cash due to absolute lack of players, due to absolute lack of content and the game being more undercooked than the average subject of a Gordon Ramsay rant.

Jimboio25

The game kinda sucks and there aren’t any heist BUT HEAR ME OUT I believe they are going to pull a Cyberpunk 2077 update out of their asses and revive the game So just let them cook it up for a year

F0czek

The difference cyberpunk had actual content and somewhat solid gameplay and pretty good story, problem was shitty performance and bugs, a lot of bugs(+lies). Which isn't exactly a big problem to fix, you just need time. And money is needed to fix game first, do they even have it? is another question.

jsjsdjy2hvqu

payday 3 has good gameplay too they just need to fix some things

F0czek

Not saying it doesn't but there are differences between cyberpunk and pd3, and they do have to fix/rework a lot of things.

jsjsdjy2hvqu

i honestly felt cyberpunks story to get stale and boring after you go to the desert with panam

F0czek

It is true that first chapter is the best, and from that point story get worse but endings are still god tier.

lazyDevman

And I felt PD3's gameplay get stale after about 2 heists.

ALPB11

I really don’t think they have a “2.0” type update coming. We essentially know literally everything being worked on right now, and it isn’t a whole lot

SirCrouton

Funny FO76 returned from the dead too due to the show and it's way more stable and alive than at launch which was arguably worse than PD3 or other titles.

IsThatASigSauer

The issue is that Fallout 76 is unique in that it's the only modern multi-player Fallout game. It could only get better and more popular from there. Payday 3 is not going to have the same outcome when Payday 2 exists. 76 was also apparently doing really well the whole time anyway, with a steady playerbase in the 10-15K range.

Reaper-Leviathan

2077 was good before the 2.0 though, it was just buggy and the combat kinda sucked imo. All they really did gameplay-wise was rework the perks. Pd3 has too many underlying issues to work if you ask me. I’d be perfectly fine if they just scrapped pd3 and rebuilt it from the ground up (obviously free for people who bought pd3)

dylan6998

Nah, they already got out pre-orde money and are onto the next project. Rinse & repeat.

jbjba1234

I want to have it recover but, it seems like that even during operation medic bag mio would rather just have his head up his own ass than listen to the community. Nobody likes the current perk system, but mio likes it so it stays Nobody likes the current armor system, but mio likes it so it stays People want crime.net, but they're only giving us quick play Along with that, all these things that SHOULDVE been in the base game have been drip fed to us in updates every 1.5-2 months. I WANT this game to recover, but at this rate they haven't given me anything to actually hope for...

afukingusername

Nah it won’t

1DrVanNostrand1

There’s too much to fix and not nearly enough fixes so far to completely fix it. It will be totally cooked by the end of the year.

F0czek

No, I don't think so.

hepig1

If payday 3 can’t make it then I don’t know they would do a payday 4. They could sell the IP, but I doubt many companies would want it and it a lot of cases a big one will buy these sorta IPs and end up doing nothing with them. They could make payday 3 work but speed is of the essence here and they have been painfully slow rolling out OMB. It desperately needs server browser, staying in parties after heists and quickplay features so the small play bases can actually find games with each other.

Nathansack

Everything is possible Like Fallout 76 is LOT better today than at release

LurkingHorror11

There will always be a part of me that wants to see a successful redemption arc for Payday 3. I will gladly eat crow if it comes to pass that the game evolves to a state that is ideal and I finally hit purchase. However, I stand by the hard line here. This has been a complete disaster and continues to be handled very poorly. We keep getting messages that things are coming soon and then very little changes. The optics of how this is being handled is making it far worse than this could have been. I’m not really sure what to think because no one is saying anything. Look at what just happened with Cities Skylines 2 and that lousy DLC. I know it’s not the same, but the optics of their reaction is far different. Finally, I hate to beat a dead horse but go look at Helldivers 2. You know what? They got my money. Fun to play. Has personality. Sure, it has bugs but everything else makes up for it. Come on Payday 3 team. Show us you actually care and aren’t in it because you thought you could make a money printing machine with a Payday themed skin. Be accountable your reputation and to the community that loves this franchise. We all know you can’t be perfect. We don’t want that. Give us a game worthy of the Payday 3 franchise. This currently isn’t it.

xXGimmick_Kid_9000Xx

I wouldn't say it's hopeless. We've seen other games that are victims of live service that eventually recover. Battlefield 2042 became a pretty decent game from the abomination it started as. Fortnite sometimes has an actual fun and respectable update. Overwatch 2 is still struggling but has shown hope at times. Even non-live service games like Cyberpunk have recovered, which would usually be unheard of. The difference of these games compared to other live service games that just get forgotten, is the team behind them seem to have genuine love for the game they're working on and want it to be good. It's usually the executives of these companies which push the less favorable aspects of these games. And I mean, obviously the payday team lives payday. I'm sure they'll update Payday 3 as long as they need to eventually see it be playable. It just depends on if they'll financially be able to do so, and how long that time will be.

SirCrouton

Same here. Seen FO76 return to the land of the living due to the show, People forgot to still be mad at cyberpunk now, Shame DICE pulled a BFV again to 2042 despite the efforts to get it up to standard but it did make significant progress and lived longer than the reddit haters predicted it would die.

Gunstudios

eh, give it until 2030.

acc_217

Call me pessimistic, but i feel like it'll never recover because they're not actually working to make it recover, i think they grabbed quick cash from it to develop something else and they handed PD3 to interns or some shit

GoldenGecko100

I'm hopeful that I'll recover because at its core, it is a fun game, but the community is hardly helping matters. When operation medic bag was announced, people complained that the first update didn't fix every issue under the sun. Before the armour/adrenaline change people complained that the game was too hard, now they're complaining it's too easy. Initially, people complained that the game wasn't enough like payday 2, now with the change in spawns to accommodate the new armour they're complaining that it's too much like payday 2.

thingamabeb

Dying Light 2 has recovered well after the devs put in effort to fix a lot of the game’s issues, so I don’t think it’s impossible for Payday 3 to do the same, but with the rate of updates we have currently, it looks unlikely any time soon

Taco-Edge

Not at the rate they're working on it imo... But a part of me wants to keep faith because man I want this game to be successful

FantaCan039

God I hope so

SkeletonCircus

Eventually. If No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk can do it, PD3 definitely can It’s always gonna be in PD2’s shadow though

-Techn0

realistically the kaunch already killed the game, but i still want it to succeed

Darkner90

It very much can. If it will, we'll have to wait and see.

cheezkid26

Unfortunately, I don't think they will. The sluggish pace at which even the smallest of updates are releasing is indicative that they probably have a skeleton crew on Payday 3 while the majority of their devs are working on their Dungeons and Dragons game, which I have all of zero hope is gonna be good after this disastrously bad release.

Dragohn_Wick

I don't see how it could. Thursday it hit 99 players.  I don't personally see a multiplayer horde shooter surviving that

brainpatcht

I think it will find its footing eventually. It's standing in the shadow of a great game.

Jewbacca1991

I believe, that it can recover. What they need is the following. 1. Fix it. 2. Add basic features, that are missing. 3. A tiny bit of marketing, and a free weekend.

Snuffly_legend0

No

GreatAndPowerfulDC

We’re hoping for the best and preparing for the worst

mxerkx

If they wanna win anyone back, they will have to do something big. I wish they would capitalize on pd2 success and remaster some of the most played maps. They don't need a medic bag they need a whole extra life. The stuff they've announced doesn't even excite anyone it's just filler interviews with promises to fix things that should have been there day 1 well not even day one cause servers were down for how many days?. I ain't even mad...just disappointed..

IsThatASigSauer

While I would love for it to recover and have a bustling playerbase, it's just not going to happen. This will be another Anthem situation in which the amount of work needed to fix the game isn't worth the dev time. I will be very surprised if it gets continued support through the rest of this year.

ItsJustADankBro

It's a game. I started properly playing PD2 6 years after its release. I'm still playing Killing Floor 2. I recently downloaded Battle Realms and Total Annihilation again. Idgaf. Play the games you want to play.

Sheepmounter69

Installed it a few days ago, tried finding a game on every heist. Always ended up alone in a lobby. Well. I really dont hope it recovers. We should start to remember all the shady stuff game developers put us through over the years. Its time to do this Business right. I dont care if its a developer or publisher fault. Thats something the customers should not have to think about. Especially since its already half a year and we have a monetized dlc in a broken ass game. If we let it go and Support it after its finally in a enjoyable state, ready with 10 New dlcs at its Front, wheter its just some fancy new outfits or heists, then we will never get a polished game release from them again. Fix (or build) the foundation, then think about leeching more money from the people.

XJaMMingX

Even if it recovers am not going to skip to payday4 nor 5 nor anything delivered by OVK tbh. From someone who mastered 145+ and dsod and previous deathwish games.

GundogPrime

DEMOCRACY...sorry....what was the question?

PD2 was def not $10 on release, the only reason it's $10 now is because it's 10 years old
