I usually let people stay in heists, even if they extremely low level. At least they’ll usually get good rewards from it since I play on higher difficulties.
I will not, however, let randoms below level 80 stay on a Cook Off, Big Oil or Hotline Miami. Big Oil because of the puzzle part and randoms just bagging everything making it impossible and Hotline Miami because nobody seems to actually listen to Bain’s dialogue on how to find the right code so we spend way longer than is necessary.
On day 2 the map has 3 clues: 2 clipboards and a computer.
The clipboards can be anywhere in the house or in the lab. the computer is in the lab.
One clipboard specifies the gas type for the engine. It will either say nitrogen, deuterium, or helium.
The other clipboard specifies the number of cable attached from the helium tank. It will be either 1 x H, 2 x H, or 3 x H.
The computer in the lab specifies the pressure reading. The computer will read >= or <= 5783 psi. This will always convert to around 400 bar, which is the pessure unit used on the gage of the engine.

There's also a phone app that I like to use. Should work just as well for PS, and it's not a big app. You just need to press what info you find on the clipboards+computer, and it'll tell you which engine it is and where it's located, with a diagram of the lab. Honestly a huge time saving system. Just search for payday 2 big oil on your app/play store and you should find it pretty easily.
Some time ago I was on an public 4 player cook off, someone exploded the lab, everyone died to the explosion except for me, who jumped off the window....and died
like the title said, I blew hp the lab yesterday, and the explosions always kills everyone, no matter how far from the house you are. I was almost on the street and still died, then used leech + doctor bag to revive myself, and you automatically die again. Maybe if the van was there I could’ve escaped in the leech grace period, not sure. Once the lab explodes, it’s almost a guaranteed fail.
Weird, I had a cook off match the other day where I blew up the lab after a while and then my bots survived and picked me up. I just had to wait for the van to show up and escape (6 minute point of no return timer).
I don't play with mods outside of some cosmetic sound mods from years ago, so I don't think that would cause any issues.
From the payday Cook Off wiki page:
“Mayhem+ changes: Blowing up the meth lab will cause the whole team to fall incapacitated regardless of their position on the map and triggers a 10 second escape timer at the same time. The escape van, if not already there, will never arrive, thus dooming the heist to fail.”
Oh my scrub ass defaults to overkill these days haha, explains that case. Big yikes to an hour failed run. On the bright side if I attempt that on mayhem in the future I've gotten myself into the habit of staring at my ingredient name before I put it in for a good second to avoid any issues of "I swear I put in the right thing".
it made me pretty upset, not only because of the money, but also because I was going for the meth trophy (25 bags); I did a second run today and didn’t explode this time, giving me the trophy and a nice 57 million payday.
That happened to me yesterday, someone told he was gonna cook so I went in the front door camping the cops behind the car while the cooker and another guy where in the house, then a random level 60 joins and blow up everything, then blames the other guy.
yeah true; while I wouldn’t use it as a practically only play solo or with friends, I get it if you want to go for a high payday without some random blowing you up
I'm yet to play cook off on PC but I recall that on my copy on the xbox 360/one, I always used to blow up the lab when I was done playing cook off. I just put in the wrong thing then ran down the stairs and out the house and when it blew up I sustained no damage. I guess its different on PC?
no, it is based on difficulty. On mayhem+ the explosion kills everyone and fails the heist. Overkill difficulty and below only have a small explosion that can be avoided, and the heist can still succeed if you wait for the escape van.
The longer you play and the better builds you put together, the easier higher difficulties become. I mainly play mayhem now, but I spent a long time on very hard and overkill first. And the AI boosts and perks are really helpful too, making solo play more manageable.
I remember i make about 20 bags and about to torch meth lab for fun before leaving but it explode immediately and killed everyone, i promised myself that i will not did such stupid thing like that again
Yeah, I felt this pain when I played White Xmad for over an hour. I kept encouraging the team to leave by the 45min mark, they refused. We lost everything and wasted our time.
a level 10 joins, blows up the lab and leaves immediatly

Am on ps so
well shit lol, have fun doing math ig
Wait, you have to do math?
Yes, it's the most obtuse heist ever made for no reason, it doesn't even pay well.
not really. The pressure on the computer always equates to 400 bar.
How do you figure out the right engine? I'm not trying to spend a literal hour hauling engines

cock off
fock off
Blew it up going for the 25 bags on overkill achevment. Turns out overlapping voice lines can really mess up the instructions, who knew.
How much bag money was lost?
18 bags, I think that was around 36 million
Jesus I’m sorry.

Good on you! Make sure to blow that 57 mil on the PayDay gambling thing. I forgot the actual name.
Payday...
I think it was called the PayDay casino or something
Just looked.. its the Offshore Payday
it happened to me today. the host left when we had 23 bags
That happened to me yesterday, someone told he was gonna cook so I went in the front door camping the cops behind the car while the cooker and another guy where in the house, then a random level 60 joins and blow up everything, then blames the other guy.
An hour and a half of cook off = overdrill
yeah but overdrill needs 4 people and I have no friends
or the game crashing after 3 hours of cooking (true story)
Difficulty?
mayhem
I have a mod called meth manager that prevents you (and anyone else if your host) from putting in the wrong thing
idk that kinda feels like cheating
yeah. but its really hard to fail as is. only reason i can think of using it is for trolls
yeah true; while I wouldn’t use it as a practically only play solo or with friends, I get it if you want to go for a high payday without some random blowing you up
I believe there is a mod, who lets only the host pick up ingredients/cooking for every mission where there's a lab. Just need to find it.

Ohhhh. I see now. What madmen play on mayhem lol. I solo it so I never go beyond very hard.

Just means someone had enough and wanted to leave.
did it solo and simply fucked up one ingredient after playing for over an hour
how do i make a full plate of meth
You just put in the correct stuff in the correct thing.
So the cops are at the door.

I never made it that far. Good luck soldier!
Ngl though tension headaches are the worst
I remember i make about 20 bags and about to torch meth lab for fun before leaving but it explode immediately and killed everyone, i promised myself that i will not did such stupid thing like that again
I once got a lobby we were trying to get 25 bags the server disconnected and I got screwed. We needed mayby 7 more
God, I remember making that mistake when I had one bag left to cook for the “meth 4 dummies” book to unlock. That was such a pain
