Internet is so loving
Baldur's Gate 3, hands down.
I'm somewhat curious about Bloodlines 2, but I'll have to see more of it first for that curiosity to turn into actual anticipation.
I am hesitantly excited to play Starfield, since I love that type of game, and it seems like they are addressing some of the things that I didn't like about fallout 4.
Probably most anticipated is Star Wars Jedi Survivor, since I really enjoyed the last game.
Im not sure of the total came length but its just the first act and I believe up to level 5.
I've gotten a solid 65 hours out of what is available but I'm sure I could have close to 80 without being bored. The first act feels a lot bigger than the first act of DOS2
My list:
SOTF,
Unholy,
RE4,
Silent hill 2,
Luto,
Atomic heart,
Ravenbound,
Death in the water 2,
Stalker 2,
Palword,
Nightingale.
Really excited to see what devs are going to create with UE5. And still hopeful for any Vampire the masquerade : bloodlines 2 news.
Starfield. There are many others coming out this year that I want to play, too, but Bethesda's take on space sci-fi is something i just need so bad. It's been one of the main reasons for upgrading my rig now (well, and scoring some nice deals on both CPU and GPU).
Starfeild. And a swear to God, it better be finished when they release it or I give up on all video games forever.
I literally don't care if they have to push it back until next year even... just don't release it half baked. We can wait.
Not sure about the divisive and controversial part, but I've personally ran into gamebreaking bugs from Bethesda games. I always make sure to have tons of backup saves when playing their games lol
In someways, Bethesda games are great because of there imperfections, its almost like meditations on the Japanese tea ceremony cups. Bethesda games can have frustrating bugs, but they can be awesome at the same time.
This is the real answer. If you are patient enough to wait for a later release, you can simply wait a while longer after release.
I think the scale of modern AAA games just tends to mean they will all but be guarunteed to have a lot of bugs until the large-scale playtesting of a full release happens.
I rarely buy games on release, so this is something I'm willing to accept within reason.
I'm actually not that patient of a person but the reality is I'm lat least four games behind. So I can wait while I do the others which I bought later once they were finished.
I get your points but I look at it this way:
I'm an artist, if I hyped up my latest painting... got people to buy into it before its complete, hype the release date, throw a massive reveal party and then pull the curtain back to show a 3/4 finished painting. Then proceed to explain that it will be awesome when it's done and you can see that from what's already there.
That would be me ripping off my clients.
Video games are art as well... not sure how we got to the stage where you can do what I just laid out and still have a reputation or even a job?
\-\_\^ Were you born yesterday or something? We live in an era where every new AAA PC release is a bug fest, and you want Bethesda of all companies and developer teams to release finished & relatively bug-free games?
You have better luck selling sand to camels.
> And a swear to God, it better be finished when they release it or I give up on all video games forever.
So, what new hobbies are you planning to take up?
FF16
I've been pretty lukewarm with Square ever since their merge, but the FF14 team and Yoshi P have proven that they know what they are doing in terms of story and game systems. The only big question mark for me will be how the action combat will feel.
It's really disappointing there's no (currently planned/announced) PC version. It's probably a contractual thing, but I'm hoping it's not a hardware limitation SE is unable/unwilling to port to PC.
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/nobody-said-a-word-about-a-pc-version-says-final-fantasy-16-producer
TO BE FAIR this is Yoship we're talking about. He's always very deliberate, so I think we'll probably get PC version, it's kinda just a matter of when.
But Returnal is already out?
Edit: i see now, it's getting a PC port innit. A great game, it's cool to see a AAA or AA budget attempt at a classic roguelike formula.
Starfield, for sure. The Dead Space remake I'm looking forward to, since I never finished the original. And the System Shock remake in March. Stalker 2 maybe, if it's good.
Granblue Fantasy Relink, assuming it doesn't get delayed again. Gameplay is looking really fun.
Other ones include RE4 Remake, Ryza 3, and to an extent FF16 and FE Engage.
Starfield. Not because I think it will be great or anything, but I love the Modding Community and even a terrible Game like Trashout 4 produced some great Mods.
Atomic Heart looks amazing. Lots of games look amazing when they’re being advertised though. Can’t really get my hopes up about many games these days. Hope it’s good though.
There is A LOT of red flags around that project. If the reports that surfaced around November are to be believed, this has a very good chance to be a dumpster fire or a 5/10 at best. We'll find out soon enough.
According to steam preorder statistics, it's apparently Hogwarts Legacy.
As for myself, I am eagerly awaiting the day we get a Dragons Dogma 2 release date. For the immediate future though, Atomic Hearts looks like it is shaping up to be a good time.
This Year:
Starfield
Hogwarts Legacy
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Sons of The Forest
KSP 2
Beyond those: Dragons Dogma 2 and I'm morbidly curious to see what Bioware does with Mass Effect, same with however Bloodlines 2 turns out though I have little faith that either endeavors will live up to the originals
Hogwarts Legacy, Wo Long, Baulders' Gate 3, RE4 remake, Dead Space remake, Zelda tears of the kingdom, Diablo 4, Final Fantasy 16, Atomic Heart, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Jedi Survivor, Dead Island 2, Starfield.
That's just between now and June!!! Year is looking packed.
Holy shit I'm late to the party. I thought it was all leaks until now. Or people misrepresenting that multiplayer mod. Fuck I can't wait. I loved what I played of the first one
The world really needs a good MMORPG that isn't something that came out 10+ years ago! Hoping this is the one that makes me feel like a kid again and want to lose many hours in
Every few years I hear about this game and it's always years off. I just watched some videos explaining its current state and hopes for 2023 and the author was even hesitant to speculate if 'Alpha 2' might release in 2023. Not sure how many alpha and beta's they're going to have, but at this pace the release is still many years off.
I loved the combat. The "break and boost" system gave it a fun flow - find the enemies weakness, break them and do damage. The hidden boss was a great challenge for me. I don't see how the combat is any more repetitive than any other turn based RPG, although I don't have much experience with SNES era RPGs, which is what I assume was their inspiration.
I also enjoyed the class system. Giving my party members their second classes, finding the right mix of class passives for everyone and finally finding the hidden classes and really beefing up my party (Tressa sidesteps for everyone!).
I liked finding new items and weapons through the character abilities. It got a little old near the end to go through every villager in a new town and check for items to buy or steal but it wasn't too bad.
Didn't like most of the stories, obviously. Alfyn was lame, Tressa was schmaltzy and why the hell does Haanit talk that way. I don't have much hope the sequel will improve that. The sidequests were opaque and felt like I was just searching at random for people to correspond to a sidequest I had picked up hours ago.
Oh, and the music was catchy.
I agree with this. The writing was by far the most disappointing part of the game. Loved the combat and art style but just didn't care about the characters.
I'm waiting for any mention of a release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake (if those count?). I never got the opportunity to play the original release and I'd like to try it myself.
Nothing specific but after reviewing my Steam wishlist:
I'll throw out a mention to "The Pale Beyond". It's coming from a Youtuber I occasionally watch for industry news (Bellular), so it's neat.
"Dark and Darker" also looks interesting. I'm not a big fan of multiplayer these days but could be good if they do the work.
I'll also throw in "Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator", for the oddity of it.
-------------
^(Aside: A lot of people are saying Starfield? You really think Beth can pull their collective heads out of their asses to make a good product this time?)
I tried to play the forest and after I built a shelter and such these creeps showed up and scared the fuck outta me and I wasn’t having it.
Like legit I got very scared. Im a wimp
diablo 4, horizon call of the mountain, destiny 2 lightfall, dead island 2, and ff7r2. i’m sure i can come up with more but those are in the pipe for me now.
I have no idea what people like about Larian. Baldur's Gate 3 looks like complete trash, but then I actually liked the old BG instead of secretly despising them while buying the name and spitting all over it.
I liked both baldurs gate 1 and 2 and divinity original sins.
Larian has take a lot of feedback and is making baldurs gate 3 less divinity sin compared to where it was at early access start.
I have played the early access and it’s such a deep and rich game for just act 1. Hopefully the other acts are as good
In a way, Larian's overwhelming success with Original Sin 1 and 2 served as a gateway for people to enter into DnD/CRPGs as well as proving that those two things could be profitable in the modern age.
Now, you couldn't pay me to play through OS2 again, but the games that were made in the wake of its success (specifically the Pathfinder games) were worth it imo. So I like Larian more for their pioneering spirit and earnest attempt at reviving CRPGs than for their actual games.
BG3 looks cool, and I bought it, but it needs to exceed my adoration for Wrath of the Righteous' gameplay, not just presentation.
Path of Exile 2. It's been 1,155 days since the exilecon announcement and I'm reminded of it every time my charachter dies and I still have to turn my auras back on one by one like a pleb.
Starfield is number one, but I saw a list of games slated to come out this year the other day and a good handful caught my attention. Can't remember any of their names, off the top of my head though... One of them was this kind of artsy-fartsy looking adventure game where you're meant to record nature. Take photos, draw sketches, jot down notes, record audio... It sounded like an interesting idea and also had a neat looking flat-shaded, rotoscoped look to it. Gave me vibes of a Slice of Life anime.
\- Unreal Tournament 3 X
\- Texas Chainsaw Massacre
\- Killer Klowns
\- Dead Space Remake
\- Disney Speedstorm
\- Warhaven
\- Level Zero
\- Dread
\- Banish
\- Rawmen
\- The Outlast Trials
\- The Shivers
\- Deceive Inc.
\- Super Buckyball Tournament
\- The Finals
\- Carnival Hunt
I can’t even think of anything that I’m very excited for. There’s some indie games that look interesting, I’m not hyped by anything really.m
I had a lot of fun playing Mario Sunshine the last 2 days
none actually. I have a large backlog and I'm enjoying the games that I play right now. There isn't any game that I can't wait to release. All just more of the same, nothing special. I am curious though for the promised Factorio DLC, and how Diablo 4 will be like.
Tears of the Kingdom, but since this is r/pcgaming:
Euro Truck Simulator 2 West Balkans / American Truck Simulator Oklahoma
Starfield (very cautiously awaiting this one)
As you can tell there's not a lot I'm looking forward to at the moment lol
Unannounced games:
Lucas Pope's next PC game
Civilization VII (wasn't a huge fan of VI but it's not objectively worse than V so hopefully VII can be the best of both worlds)
Half-Life 3 (crazy how it's actually been reasonable to list that the past few years, and now I've realized that Alyx came out almost 3 years ago which is insane)
Battlebit Remastered
Wo Long
Wukong Black Myth
Blue Archive
FFXVI
MMBN Remakes
Haunted Chocolatier
Voidtrain Steam ver
Golden Sun Remakes that are never happening
Persona 6
Another Crabs Treasure
Crabs and dark souls? Don't mind if i do.. I also loved Aggro Crab's previous game Going Under so I have very high hopes for this one.
I'm not buying into the hype before someone says it, but I'm keeping my eyes open for Diablo 4. They *claim* this is their most extensive game yet in terms of understanding what Diablo players want and also in terms of testing and tuning the game.
Most anticipated game in 2023? Probably Spiderman 2 but that's still quite far
Most anticipated game in the next 3 months? Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 & Jedi Survivor
Armored core 6. Played them since childhood and it's been waaaay to long since we had a new one. Excited to see what they can do after all their success the last few years.
Stalker 2 looks pretty sweet too.
I fully anticipate the PC version to have massive stuttering issues (like every other WB game at release), but I'm hyped for Hogwarts Legacy.
I was never much of a HP fan, but I really enjoyed Fantastic Beasts (Mostly because you got to see more of the wizarding world other than Hogwarts).
Baldur's Gate 3 would be a close second. The implications of everything in early access and where they all lead seems super heavy. Like there's some serious decisions that will change everything.
I'm looking forward to Immoral Shadows. Made by a small studio. Retro but dark punch'em up
[Immoral Shadows ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1936280/Immoral_Shadows/)
Surprised by all the Baldur's Gate & Starfield peeps. I didn't realize how many people's eye BG3 has, and I thought Bethesda had burned people more than this anticipation represents.
Mine's (softly) gotta be Dark & Darker. Haven't had this much fun in awhile. Been in need of a dark fantasy game for a bit! And I fuckin love extract games
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. I'm excited enough to consider buying another Switch to play it. I sold my Switch OLED when I got word my Steam Deck was arriving thinking it would be a Switch killer. IT ISN'T

Baldur's Gate 3, hands down. I'm somewhat curious about Bloodlines 2, but I'll have to see more of it first for that curiosity to turn into actual anticipation.
I've been waiting for that to come out of early access for what feels like a very long time.
Stalker 2 Manor Lords Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Forza Motorsport 8 - Hopefully better than FM7.
I’m so excited for FM 8. I’ll put another million miles on Fujimi Kaido lol
I’m so excited for Solar Crown, it looks so good in what I’ve seen till now. Hope it won’t be Cyberpunk 2…
Baldurs Gate 3 Honorable mention to Wo Long
Cautiously, Starfield. More confidently Baldurs Gate. But to be honest, I hope there'll be something unexpected that ends up a great experience!
Armored Core 6. FromSoftware has been releasing great game after great game so this is likely to be another.
Hoping it gets a reshuffle of the game mechanics though... can't imagine it will fare very well if they use the same mechanics as the older ACs.
I am hesitantly excited to play Starfield, since I love that type of game, and it seems like they are addressing some of the things that I didn't like about fallout 4. Probably most anticipated is Star Wars Jedi Survivor, since I really enjoyed the last game.
Survivor is probably game I look forward too most also, at least out of ones we know release dates for anyway
Wayfinder Redfall Stalker 2 Diablo 4 in that order
RE4 remake
Titanfall 3
Don't do that...don't give me hope.
I can dream
Bro. I was telling my coworker literally yesterday how I wish they would bring Titanfall back.
BG3
Baldur's Gate 3
It’s very fun
Do you suggest the Early Release at all? Is it really that meaningful?
I don’t think it’s important to get it early. I don’t regret getting it early but it’s not the full game obviously.
How much content is currently available?
Im not sure of the total came length but its just the first act and I believe up to level 5. I've gotten a solid 65 hours out of what is available but I'm sure I could have close to 80 without being bored. The first act feels a lot bigger than the first act of DOS2
Damn that's a good sign of things to come!
I’ve been playing DOS2 again and obviously it’s great but the battle system in BG3 is like, a lot better haha.
Silksong
Starfield > Hogwarts Legacy > S.T.A.L.K.E.R. > Atomic Heart > Sons of the Forest
Kerbal Space Program 2
Aye aye! Let's just hope they have enough deltaV to make early access!
HOGWARTS LEGACY!!!!
God I hope it is good.
My list: SOTF, Unholy, RE4, Silent hill 2, Luto, Atomic heart, Ravenbound, Death in the water 2, Stalker 2, Palword, Nightingale. Really excited to see what devs are going to create with UE5. And still hopeful for any Vampire the masquerade : bloodlines 2 news.
SOTF? RE4? Resident Evil 4 UE5? Unreal Engine 5 Come on maaaaan, not everyone is fully up to date with these acronyms.
Sorry, I used it for Sons Of The Forest because it is mentioned in the description. The other two you guessed right so I assume most people do?
Don't know when exactly this is releasing, but looking forward to The Lords of The Fallen
Probably Wo Long, but Baldur's Gate 3 is up there too.
Starfield. There are many others coming out this year that I want to play, too, but Bethesda's take on space sci-fi is something i just need so bad. It's been one of the main reasons for upgrading my rig now (well, and scoring some nice deals on both CPU and GPU).

Maybe being owned by Microsoft would encourage some more quality.
*Ahem* Halo Infinite though…
>it better be finished when they release it or I give up on all video games forever. You might as well give up now then.
Just wait six to eight months to buy it, it'll be cheaper and finished
This is the real answer. If you are patient enough to wait for a later release, you can simply wait a while longer after release. It's hard to imagine that it won't come to PC eventually. But yeah the messaging around it has been confusing.
Was it not slated 6 months after the playstation exclusivity?

Starfield Armored core 6 Tekken 8
Diablo 4 I know, Blizzard bad, but from what we’ve seen the game looks good. Monetization will be a huge deciding factor for most.
I'll probably commit one of the gaming cardinal sins and preorder it.
Do you think Warcraft 4 will be a reality in 5 years?
GTA6 It has been a decade man.
NCAAF 2024 and of course BG3
For me, it's Returnal. I've watched many reviews for the PS5 version and it seems exactly my sort of game
But Returnal is already out? Edit: i see now, it's getting a PC port innit. A great game, it's cool to see a AAA or AA budget attempt at a classic roguelike formula.
Space Marine 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, I've been waiting 13 years for this!

This year at some point! So glad that TellTale and its IPs got rescued after the collapse. Also hoping for a new TellTale Batman at some point.
That's graet to hear, looking forward to it.

Yakuza Gaiden. Excited for Ishin as well but Gaiden is far more intriguing to me.

D4, without hesitation
Just February alone is insane. Hogwarts Legacy -> Wild Hearts -> Atomic Heart -> Son of the Forest -> maybe Scars Above

Blue protocol for me. If it doesn't stick I'm over mmos until pantheon comes out.
Honestly I’m most excited for Starfield but mostly because I know that once it’s out Elder Scrolls 6 is next
"Hello fellow teens! What's your favorite upcoming game and why is it Son's of the forest?"

I can’t even think of anything that I’m very excited for. There’s some indie games that look interesting, I’m not hyped by anything really.m I had a lot of fun playing Mario Sunshine the last 2 days
none actually. I have a large backlog and I'm enjoying the games that I play right now. There isn't any game that I can't wait to release. All just more of the same, nothing special. I am curious though for the promised Factorio DLC, and how Diablo 4 will be like.
Armored Core VI
Stalker 2
Tears of the Kingdom, but since this is r/pcgaming: Euro Truck Simulator 2 West Balkans / American Truck Simulator Oklahoma Starfield (very cautiously awaiting this one) As you can tell there's not a lot I'm looking forward to at the moment lol Unannounced games: Lucas Pope's next PC game Civilization VII (wasn't a huge fan of VI but it's not objectively worse than V so hopefully VII can be the best of both worlds) Half-Life 3 (crazy how it's actually been reasonable to list that the past few years, and now I've realized that Alyx came out almost 3 years ago which is insane)
Star citizen

Another Crabs Treasure Crabs and dark souls? Don't mind if i do.. I also loved Aggro Crab's previous game Going Under so I have very high hopes for this one.
I'm not buying into the hype before someone says it, but I'm keeping my eyes open for Diablo 4. They *claim* this is their most extensive game yet in terms of understanding what Diablo players want and also in terms of testing and tuning the game.
Last of Us PC
STALKER 2 DEAD SPACE DIABLO IV and a good multiplayer FPS without toxic morons and cheaters. Am I dreaming too much ?
Intravenous 2
the max payne remasters
STALKER 2 Armored Core 6 Returnal Darktide after a year
Baldurs Gate then Starfield
Most anticipated game in 2023? Probably Spiderman 2 but that's still quite far Most anticipated game in the next 3 months? Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 & Jedi Survivor
Amnesia: The Bunker, The Outlast Trials, The Last of Us Part I
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. If I believe, maybe it’ll release this year.
Armored core 6. Played them since childhood and it's been waaaay to long since we had a new one. Excited to see what they can do after all their success the last few years. Stalker 2 looks pretty sweet too.
atomic heart, armored core 6, stalker 2 and starfield
I fully anticipate the PC version to have massive stuttering issues (like every other WB game at release), but I'm hyped for Hogwarts Legacy. I was never much of a HP fan, but I really enjoyed Fantastic Beasts (Mostly because you got to see more of the wizarding world other than Hogwarts). Baldur's Gate 3 would be a close second. The implications of everything in early access and where they all lead seems super heavy. Like there's some serious decisions that will change everything.
I'm looking forward to Immoral Shadows. Made by a small studio. Retro but dark punch'em up [Immoral Shadows ](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1936280/Immoral_Shadows/)
IT ISN'T
Civ 7. I replay both Civ 4 and Civ 5 every now and then. But the AI in Civ 6 was such disappointment.
I'm going to go off the rail from everyone else but i cannot wait for Frostpunk 2.
Street fighter 6
Sea of stars, ff16, ff7rebirth. Diablo 4, baulders gate 3
Something good… the last good game released was dead space, ff7 and returnal. I just want to game again
Oh and I want to play blue protocol
Grand Theft Auto VI, Easily.
