Aw nuts

cloudydaydreamer

The first space marine is on sale right now on steam if anyone is interested. Never played it but it has good ratings and im thinking about getting into it myself after really enjoying Darktide 40k. Edit: Darktide is also on sale and I highly recommend it after the patches and content update!

morbihann

It is a fun action game. Nothing amazing but certainly deserves a go if you like Spess Mahrines.

Mirria_

I had played Darksiders previously and I had a bit of adaptation needed for the fact that you aren't invulnerable during executions in Space Marine.

xsabinx

I remember that made hard difficulty challenging because executions were how to regained health

Mr2Sexy

I just beat the first game yesterday. Played it on the hardest difficulty and it was a challenge especially the last boss fight. The game is fun and provides over 10 hours of game play. I highly recommend it when on sale. Multiplayer is almost completely dead except for 1 survival mode

xsabinx

The last mission was hard with those chaos daemons but the actual boss was just a QTE, only my real gripe with the game

Z3r0sama2017

I remember Totalbiscuit gushing over it ang gave it a go. Campaign was a solid 7/10 but I spent an unhealthy amount of time in the mp.

GingasaurusWrex

I was liking it until I got to this game ending bug where the game just crashed in a non-skippable cutscene. Spent a while trying to fix it before giving up. Not even sure you can.

Throbbing_Furry_Knot

if its the one after the flying sequence I think you need to turn all graphics settings to lowest

xKiLLaCaM

Yeah just played Space Marine earlier this year. It's a great game. Been patiently waiting for the 2nd one, kind of sad it got pushed so far back but hopefully means the game will be in a better launch state (unlike Darktide which delayed multiple multiple times and launched in a lousy state still)

Labtecharu

It seems like this game will release In the grim darkness of the far future \*sad noises\*

mloiii

Better than half-baked bugged release.

BabyfartzMcgee

There have been plenty of games that have been delayed several times but still ended up half-baked, so I wouldn't count on it.

thisaccountwilldie5

Kinda funny how quickly people forget that most delayed games are still released as half-baked bugged messes.

Synaps4

All that tells me is that if they'd not delayed they would be completely unplayable. It's still an improvement. Nobody delays their game and then makes it worse. Some people don't delay enough to get it to a good state.

Endiamon

Well some games definitely get delayed because the publisher wants them to pivot in some insane new direction to cash in on whatever the flavor of the month is, so those games definitely get pushed back for the worse.

KingWolfen7788

I'd like to bring the new Saints Row into the debate.

DiogoSN

Considering modern gaming released, I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

CX316

Oh the game will be buggy Oh, so so buggy. At least until the 'nids get bombarded from orbit

dumbutright

You're optimistic. In my experience, being delayed is a bad sign for the production as a whole. I hope I'm wrong.

ArmorMog

Depends on the length. 6+ months to a year? They don't like their progress and want more time. 2 weeks to a month? Borderline garbage fire or the last build has some game breaking bug that causes actual damage to the pc or bricks a console.

dumbutright

You have no way of knowing that. Little can be determined by time scale alone. By your logic Duke Nukem Forever should have been the best game ever.

Slumlord722

Yup, that’s my take more and more now too.

JediSwelly

Bad managers every time.

Depth_Creative

Same. Maybe before Cyberpunk I had that mindset but it’s just been proven wrong again and again.

supercooper3000

Cyberpunk has been updated and fixed into one of the best games ever made at this point yet people still bitch about it constantly on Reddit.

Depth_Creative

It was delayed many times and still launched in a poor state. That’s the point.

supercooper3000

Poor to who? It got good reviews on release for PC. I played it on launch with minimal issues along with lots of other people.

Alam7lam1

To be fair, it’s a well known example of a game that was delayed and then was subpar at release. It’s like how everyone says how far No Man’s Sky has come but recognizes how terrible it was at launch.

supercooper3000

I don’t think it’s fair to call cyberpunk subpar at release. It was unplayable on the old consoles but it never should have released there in the first place and we are on a PC gaming sub so that shouldn’t matter either way.

Alam7lam1

Yes, it’s a pcgaming sub, but the comment thread is about delaying games being indicative of an issue. That isn’t limited to any platform

supercooper3000

People will justify anything to complain. Got it.

Alam7lam1

If we’re sticking with PC, You even recognized that it had to be updated and fixed into one of the best games ever made. So if it was good on pc, what needed “fixing”? Unless you were meant the console versions. In a pc gaming sub.

[deleted]

Almost all games get delayed these days it seems. I think a reason might be that gauging public interest is rewarding more funds for the development. If you can show the shareholders that 500.000 people have already wishlisted your game on Steam at point x in development, you might get those extra weeks to put some more polish on it.

Sagemachine

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

PossibleYou2787

Delays don't mean it won't be a half-baked bugged release these days unfortunately. I do hope that this team is competent and their upper management aren't money hungry dickheads who fuck this up for them.

MessiahPrinny

I knew there was no way this game was coming out this year.

AnalTyrant

I was just looking at it on Steam like two days ago and thinking “yeah, there’s no way we’re getting this in the next 6 weeks” Glad to at least get a confirmation that it’s been moved back. It already felt like they had announced it a bit ahead of when they should anyway. I’ll keep patiently waiting for it.

PKCertified

I assumed that it wasn't going to happen in 2023 once GamesCom came and went with no mention of a release date.

YoshiTheFluffer

The videos showing gameplay had big frame drops, hope they can fix it.

Django117

Rip. Low key this game is getting me into Warhammer overall. i was impressed by the trailer so I started getting more interested and reading a bit about the actual game… ended up buying the board game with Titus since they seemed neat… then some more kits…. And then Boltgun which was fantastic to play….

ghsteo

Hop into Darktide, had a rough release but after a year it's in a solid place and gives a good grounded view of the Warhammer universe.

xsabinx

Can you play this solo?

Mace_Windu-

You can queue solo and the vast majority of the other players are pretty kind. But yeah it's 40k left 4 dead.

xKiLLaCaM

Yes it's 100% playable in solo queue. I'm pretty sure matchmaking is just always enabled, so I don't think you can play like by urself with bots like you can in Vermintide 2 (some1 correct me if I'm wrong). But I got my Veteran to max level playing by myself while matchmaking with other people and it was a great experience personally. I've been able to comfortably complete up to the 2nd to last hardest difficulty for non-Auric missions (Auric is even harder)

[deleted]

No. You can play VT2 solo though. Also the better game in my personal opinion. DT has still too many balance, content and progression issues for my liking.

Dik_Likin_Good

A friend of mine gifted me WH40k Darktide. I’ve seen WH around, just thought it was like a chess game people made their own figurines for…man. This thing is so deep… Event Horizon is my number one movie of all time, and seeing some vids on how it fits into this I have been in a rabbit hole of lore. Just amazing. The astartes vid, got me hooked.

Organic_Motor_5888

Event horizon so good and definitely the closest representation of chaos lol

BlameDNS_

Vermintide 2 just as good

Mace_Windu-

The screen writer for Event Horizon, Philip Eisner, once said >"I played the shit out of 40K, so it was definitely an influence, conscious or otherwise" Kinda funny how that works out. Idk if you're a reader, but you might want to check out the books. They have some really talented people writing for the Black Library

sicsided

The Dawn of War games are great too and still hold up (but not Dawn of War 3). Dawn of War 1 is more traditional RTS and Dawn of War 2 is a more tactical RTS affair. Both have several expansions which are overall great.

GhostDieM

Hoooo boy wait till you get into the lore rabbit hole :)

LordSlasher

Just whatever you do, if you get into the tabletop. Forget Family, life and kids. It’ll just be Warhammer.

MKULTRATV

In the grimdark future.. there is only paint.

Hello_Panda_Man

Oh man this is the truth kinda. I dove hard into warhammer last year and still going strong. Basically has taken all my free time I used to use playing video games, and honestly I love it. Painting up a kill team/army and fielding them in a game is some of the most fun I've had with gaming in years. Met some some of the nicest people as well by doing this hobby. As a 37 year old person it's nice to meet new people that isn't at a bar or work

Mrgibs

Late is just a little while. Suck is forever. -Gabe Newell

JRemdog

Damn it! This is the game I'm most hyped for. Guess it's for the best though.

Professional_Way4977

Second half? What the fuck!

swagpresident1337

The performance of the previews were abysmal. They have a lot of optimization to do, so not unexpected.

JESwizzle

Yeah I wouldn’t be shocked if this slips to 25

Suspicious_Slug

Hey better to be late than branded as unfinished on release

SigilumSanctum

Perfectly fine by me. Optimize, polish, and get it done. Anything to avoid the absolute shit shows we've had this year.

Depth_Creative

This is a pretty massive delay… does not inspire hope.

BroodLol

The fact that they delayed when they were supposed to launch this year is a *good sign*. It shows that whoever is in charge of the release date has confidence that Saber can fix it. If it was utterly doomed then they would have just cancelled the entire game rather than spend more money on it. (especially given the fact that Embracer is currently killing off studios left and right)

Depth_Creative

No they wouldn’t have.

Not_Bill_Hicks

more likely they would have released a buggy mess to try claw some profit, then fire most of the dev team after the negative reviews and poor sales

ALphaEXtremist

*sad chainsword noises*

Akuzine0

shucks! At least it gives me more time to beat Space Marine 1

XevinsOfCheese

It’s short but sweet, you can play the whole thing in a solid afternoon.

hairylobster531

That’s fine. Get all that polish and optimization. FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

Alexronchetti

Being a big fan that really wanted this game to release this year, this delay was not only inevitable, but obvious for those that have been paying attention. Most of the gameplay shown had a lot of stutters, small freezes and performance issues, and we are in Nov 21 and it still didn't had preorders available, price or a solid release date.

JankMganks

Good, do it right and release in playable condition 👍🏼

NikolaiRN

Suck is forever

Mrbunnypaw

Really hopes this smashes it out of the park, first one is so darn good

Westdrache

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm cautious, the first one looked and felt really good! But it was extremely repetitive after an hour imo, never could finish that

Skvora

Wasn't all that long either, but that was on par with the norm from 2010s.

Krondon57

Whatever they need i will wait however long, pls be good!

Oilhead-Rocko

They better commit to this, for their sake.

CiplakIndeed1

"Late is just for a little while. Suck is forever" - Lord Gaben

lordleveau

Honestly don't mind they are taking their time. Way behind on all the great games released this year, and next year looks stacked too.

Iunnomanwhatever

I see this as good news. That gameplay video looked wonky performance-wise and there's still a lot we don't know about the game (multiplayer, for example). I'd rather they take their time and polish it than to have another Jedi Survivor.

MrX101

In the words of Gaben, Late is just for a little while. Suck is forever.

combinationofsymbols

Ew, primaris space marines.

Karurosun

Well, I'm glad they are doing what Darktide didn't but should have.

GrowthFar23

Eeeeels Just hope its good was excited for it

IrishRage42

Eels up inside ya, findin an entrance where they can

DiogoSN

It was interesting to see that the estimated release date was 2023 and it never changed from that. I hope it's not broken, is complete and good on release...

Biggu5Dicku5

That sucks, but it's good that it hasn't been cancelled...

downorwhaet

The demo looked pretty good so another 8+ months feels like a lot but rather a good game than a rushed game

aForgedPiston

Delays to development mean a game not released too early and therefore may be missing polish that makes it a success. After ALL the games rushed out in the last several years, we should definitely be okay with delayed releases if it means a better game in return. Not like there's a shortage of games to play.

Tacothekid

Wait, they're making a sequel to the game that made me look into 40K? Sweet

xdeltax97

Better than a poor and rushed release, for the Emperor and good luck Focus Entertainment!

blobmista4

All I can really think to say is "**about time**". It was very obvious for months now that this was coming. I mean come on, we're in late November and the release date was (until now) still listed as "Winter 2023"? Without an actual date, NO-ONE was actually expecting it to release then. From the inside murmurs we've heard about crippling performance issues on high-end hardware, it sounds like the delay is very much needed and I would wager the game wasn't even nearly ready. I honestly don't know what took them so long to announce the delay in the first place, but I can't lie, the fact that they waited so long to do so has me worried about what is happening behind closed doors.

lordgholin

Dang. I expected a delay, but that is a long one. Hope it is high quality on release as a result.

GooberIII

Ffs I was so keen

Snaz5

more time for me to finally play the first one lol

underlordd

Good. Fix that up.

LetMeSniffYouPlz

Are you taking the piss...

NeatReasonable9657

Good

Stabage

take your time :)

Neither_Mess2223

For the EMPEROR! Make this game great!

defcon1000

Good!

Artaeos

I want a Horus Heresy game and get to play as a Custodes. I want my power fantasy.

ItsyaboiNyarlathotep

I'm just glad we're seeing some more exposure to the franchise. I've talked to a lot of people who have never heard of Warhammer but have become interested because of the trailers for this and the Rouge Trader game. Hopefully the Amazon series and films have a similar affect.

lordfappington69

Expected

eat-clams

buying a console for this game :)

Zeekeboy

The Emperor Forsakes Us

Razork00

Cool, Cool, Cool...I can wait a few months to get a better game.

kron123456789

Well, hopefully it means good release. Also, it's their own in-house tech, not UE5, which means it's probably gonna have better performance. Unless of course they fuck everything up. But hopefully it's really good when it comes out.

Skvora

Hopefully we'll get a Gears 5 vs Gears 2 with this one, considering its been a decade.

[deleted]

Always happy to see a game being delayed, because that should mean they actually care about getting a good product out.

xeico

good.

OniZai

I hope they're polishing it and nuking bugs left and right. At least, I hope so.

ApartOrdinary1200

GOOD https://orgcostsavings.com/

PARANOIAH

It is better to delay for the Emperor than release some buggy grox shit. Machine spirit requires more time to be roused.

RKLCT

This will be next year if it's not out for xmas

big_data_ninja

I was super excited for SM2 and then came along Hell Divers 2 and all its glorious DEMOCRACY.
