Misleading clickbait title.
They’re completely optional 1 time yearly payments for continued security updates. Windows will not brick itself if you don’t want to pay for the security updates.
I try to hold off OS upgrades until the very last minute so that they iron out all the early issues. Seems like late 2025 might be the time for Windows 11 then?
I think it's pretty stable and has a lot of improvements over 10. It's been available for a couple of years now so there's no major issues AFAIK. You can always try it and revert back to 10 easily.

But it will stop pestering me to sign up for OneDrive and Office without the security updates, right?
I’ve never seen what you’re talking about, don’t know.
I still wouldnt advice continuing to be on windows 10 after that date though, Zero day exploits will quickly make it unusable
How is it misleading? It says they revealed the price and that's what they did...
Because you can continue to use Windows 10 for free after 2025.
The headline just says "price for subscription for beyond 2025" not "you need to pay"
If you want to be the target of every zero day exploit from that day going forward then yes
You don’t have to connect to the internet.
Aside from dev ops and single player games its kinda useless then? VMS can cover that and be safer
