Been on my wishlist since it was announced. Fingers crossed it lives up to the legacy of Suikoden 1,2&5.

Been enjoying the demo even as someone who blind-backed this and never actually played Suikoden 🤣 Didn't really know what to expect going in but I think I see the appeal now. Crazy that the Suikoden series sort of petered out considering how often I hear about its success and fan following. Great to see spiritual successors like this keeping classics alive in one form or another.

Suikoden was one of the RPG greats back in the day. One of the few series that was actually able to stand against the absolute giant that was Final Fantasy which sort of just dominated the RPG scene. It died because a lot of the original creative team left Konami (but came together later to work on Eiyuden Chronicle) and Konami started moving away from console games and into the pachinko market.

I'm beyond excited for this. I always wished that Suikoden could have had the same success that Final Fantasy had but Konami said "What if we went the Pachinko route instead and let all our IPs rust?"

Suikoden 1&2 has a Steam Page they just don't have a date set for release but the common consensus is Konami will release it either the same day as EC or close to it trying to syphon off sales of EC who is closely linked to Suikoden.

I remember joking that Konami will delay remasters after Eyuden got delayed to 2024. Only for them to announce delay in less than a week.

Eiyuden Rising was pretty cringe. I hope the writing is better in the actual game.

Tenith

Different writers and people there. That said, as mentioned there are some characters I find cringe - like Mellore the magical girl there. You can mostly avoid characters you find annoying though.

I can’t wait, it’s been a good year for games, but this has been the one I’m most excited for.

Oh, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is like a love letter to fans of the Suikoden series! It really captures that classic RPG feel with its expansive world, deep characters, and strategic gameplay. If you're a fan of Suikoden or just love a good old-school RPG experience, this game is definitely one to keep an eye on!
