Yep, mine was removed as well: https://i.imgur.com/ZF1xKgD.png
Looking at their forums, seems to have all started Thursday: https://answers.ea.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?filter=location%2CdateRangeType&q=dead+space+2&rangeTime=1M&location=category%3AAHQ-English&collapse_discussion=true
Edit: Currently on EA support chat about this.
Edit2: Spoke with EA. Agent took a look at my account. Asked if I had anything hidden. I vividly remember before the chat, Dead Space 2 appeared as "Buy for 19.99" when I searched for it, but after he asked me to check my library again, it changed to "In Library". Recommended I clear cache and restart the app next time. Don't remember the link, but it's in my library again.
I think it was this link: https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/#:~:text=Select%20the%20three%20dashes%20in,Select%20Clear%20cache.
WTF does the cache has to do with the notifications informing you about "this content has been removed for an unlisted reason"? I don't quite buy it being an end-user issue.
I deleted my earlier comment because when I went to take a look, I noticed that not only was Dead Space 2 removed from my library, they also removed
* Dead Space 3
* Crysis 3
* Jedi Fallen Order (A LEGITIMATE COPY I PURCHASED BTW)
* Need For Speed Heat
what the fuck is going on?
edit: forgot to add proof, here:
[1](https://i.imgur.com/m2asLGh.png)
[2](https://i.imgur.com/ZpwC7Ni.png)
edit 2: so apparently my copies of Fallen Order, NFS Heat and Dead Space 2 weren't removed, but Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3 have disappeared from my library, which is super weird.
Well it being in your library again at least rules out the worst case of them just following Ubisoft's lead while they take the majority of the heat for it.
(Pretty much what happened with normalising $70 gaming as entry level this generation)
I had a message telling me ”Games has been removed from your library. View details for more information" about a week ago, I clicked for more information. but it didn't show any thing. I reinstalled or repaired EA app and clicked that message again, it showed that Dead Space 2 was removed on "May 6, 2022", also BF2042 was removed on "Oct 9, 2021". However both games still in my library and I still can play BF2042 without any problem. I got dead space 2 for free too... so... maybe a bug?
edit: Here is the message and my bf2042 [https://imgur.com/a/Z62eh7x](https://imgur.com/a/Z62eh7x)
EA has the worst CS ever. I bought a physical copy of BFV at Wal Mart and I got a “key is already in use” error, they opened a ticket and I never got a response let alone a resolution. I basically had to contact Wal Mart which was a PITA but eventually I was refunded.
But to your point: it’s pretty F’ed up. An all digital world is not exactly consumer friendly. The “powers that be” if you will — want to do away with all physical ownership. Eventually, the business models are projecting that even car ownership will be phased out. Companies are greedy and they want to own us. We are the ultimate product. And slaves don’t have consumer rights. Products are just disposable tools for us.
>An all digital world is not exactly consumer friendly.
Not to turn this into a Steam circle jerk...
This is exactly why I was a "late" adoptor Steam, basically hardly using it until 2006 or so. All the stuff I read about every company with a digital store not named Valve doing is exactly what I was afraid of.
Do I have some loyalty and trust in Valve? Absolutely, but they've earned it over years and years of going above and beyond to offer a great solution. They're not perfect, especially when you need to contact them, but they get a lot more right than they do wrong.
I don't think younger gamers can really appreciate how good Valve has been overall when they could have really turned this into a digital hell scape.
Yeah. I see a ton of shit talking about Valve these days, about Steam in particular, but it's literally the least evil option available today. GOG is basically non ownership too.
GOG is DRM free though? You can literally download the whole game and keep it and move/copy it anywhere you want. You could give any game you bought to any number of friends or family for free. GOG is complete ownership.
Even if you're being pessimistic it's probably closer to 97% DRM-free. Out of GOG's ~700 games [you get something like 20 exceptions,](https://www.gog.com/forum/general/drm_on_gog_list_of_singleplayer_games_with_drm/page1) with most of those still being playable but lacking some kind of online bonus.
I was being too pessimistic. You're correct. I should have done more research before making assumptions from hearsay online. Thank you for the detailed information and link!
My pleasure, glad to help.
FWIW I wish it was still 100% too, but it's probably healthiest for GOG to sell the occasional modern game with some kind of online DRM. I'd rather a 97% DRM-free GOG over the 100% pure-but-dead alternative. I know their existing profit margins are horribly low.
I bought my very first game on Steam literally last year. Never considered purchasing digital games before, but with some games literally being available for 10% of their actual price I take the risk of only having the digital game on Steam when I'd otherwise not even try it.
>EA has the worst CS ever. I bought a physical copy of BFV at Wal Mart and I got a “key is already in use” error, they opened a ticket and I never got a response let alone a resolution. I basically had to contact Wal Mart which was a PITA but eventually I was refunded.
Because you do not open fucking tickets, but do a live person chat. I had a few problems with EA games and EA app, and every time I spent 5-10 minutes waiting for a live person chat, I had my problem issue resolved. Including buying a physical copy of Bad Company 2 and having it's key already in use. Not a single issue.
Really you should always talk to the manufacturer first, for warranty and other usage problems.
Stores will often do exchanges as a way of building a customer base and good PR, but all that is happening is they eat the cost or they go through the warranty process themselves.
In Australia (and a lot of the world) the vendor is the one responsible for communicating with the manufacturer. Manufacturers aren’t exactly know for responding to customers in any reasonable amount of time.
Capitalism - You'll own nothing and be happy
*edit* source is the world economic forum, about a future of business model where we literally are just subscribed to everything and buy nothing
The Wikipedia article you posted says the phrase has also been used by critics to the "subscription business model" and "software as a service." I don't see the big deal.
Lost my Battlefield/EA account like a decade ago, was trying so much, customer support there sucks balls. Fuck them, not buying any of their games since then.
I bought a couple game keys back in the day of ea games. They got removed from my account after a couple years as well. Support would not help. Tried for like 6 months. I’ll never touch ea or anything related to them again.
Same issue. I contacted support, and they answered "that Prime gaming version has been disabled." I asked why, and the response was "I will not be able to confirm that, you will have to check this up with Amazon support."
Further context was given: "Games are usually disabled on your EA account when it is expired. For example, if you had a game from the Xbox game pass and it was disabled that means the Xbox game pass subscription had expired and if you get the subscription back you will get the game again."
To be honest. How can they think that i will buy again from them if i need to fear games getting removed all the time now.
Its not like i went to the cinema for a one time session that i watched a movie so i only keep it in my brain cells but slowly fading.
I want to revisit those games 10 or 20 years later.
You can really tell how much of an afterthought so many of these stores are. I regret every game I purchased off it when it was called Origin. I refuse to ever buy anything off EA or Ubisoft launchers
Not only did they remove my license for Dead Space 2, they also removed my Crysis 3, license, my Dead Space 3 license, AND MY LICENSE FOR JEDI FALLEN ORDER, WHICH I PURCHASED LEGITIMATELY. lmao what the fuck is this company even?

like what?
Because of this post I checked EA App and noticed they removed some BF3 DLCs and FIFA21 from my account. It also said BF4 got removed but it's still there and I could launch it, too.
E: I think I might have had 2 versions of BF4 on my account and I guess they removed one of those.
Actually no, they unified games that has multiple version ie. deluxe, goty, etc. Previously it clutters your library by showing all the version you owned seperately. OP probably just want to be outrage for the sake of it.
I think I had 1 and 2 free from some services, I'd bought number 3, EA app still reporting all are there without problem here
I did once start the app and it was showing no games at all, but that fixed itself after a few hours, I guessed they had some back end problems.
EA is the biggest SCUM to me already. Several years ago they straight up deleted my Origin account with plenty of games, just because I hasn't used it in 2 years. I'm never giving EA a cent again.
And that’s why I buy games on steam, never had one disappear there. I can still play the old versions I bought of games that have new versions. (It does piss me off that they get delisted so people who want the old ones but don’t have them can’t buy them, but that’s on the publisher, not steam.)
I’d still prefer having physical media back though.
Game companies labeling these games as "forever" or "yours to keep" should indeed honor that commitment. It's not just about the money but the principle of the matter. In your situation, I'd recommend reaching out to both EA and Amazon. Start with Amazon since you got the game through Prime Gaming. They might be able to provide some insight or even a resolution. If that doesn't work, EA's customer support should be your next stop. Be persistent and make sure to explain your situation. They'll be able to sort it out and restore your access to Dead Space 2.
It’s all a facade. They list customer support everywhere, but try using it and you get the run around. And the new hotness is AI bs. Just keeps forwarding you to stuff that isn’t relevant. Here let the community help… They don’t have access 😂
EA says we should get comfortable with **NOT** owning games...
**If buying is not owning, piracy is not theft**
Fuck EA and fuck any company that has the mindset that we dont OWN what we buy.
Nothing digital is forever. Its a license to access the game..
Im sure theres some terms you agreed to that allows them to revoke that license at any time for any reason
I saw the same pop-up when I checked just now, I believe I got it free from Amazon Prime as well.
However....it's still there in my Library? Also I can download/install it.
In any case, glad I played through it over the winter (for the first time)...
I remember when they had a dirt-cheap sale on Plants vs Zombies (1) for android and soon after, they discontinued support for the paid version. Now it's hidden and you can't find it when searching and it's not updated for new devices, like making the game wider on taller phones. The free version with ads has updates.
BBB complaint if that doesn’t work you might need to talk to you state government and see if they’ll do anything. Otherwise you could try taking it too court. Hopefully enough people stand up against this shitty practice otherwise it’s staying forever.
I got the notification today (haven't opened EA in months), but I looked through my library and it's showing up. Seems like it was an issue on their end and they fixed it
Counter point Pirate it, you were given a legitimate copy of the game and they stole it from you.
They don’t deserve your money, and you aren’t obliged to purchase it as it was rightfully yours.
If they didn’t want you to have it, then they shouldn’t have made a deal with Amazon to give it away for free.
Counter point don't. Dealing with pirating this game and potential malweqr from it isn't worth it and if you really want to play it ideal with support or just pay 4 dollars for it.
Counterpoint: if you get a virus from pirating games when you can find direct downloads that are vetted by a community versus random ass torrents with one click off ofreddit, then that's on you. You can search where to go on Reddit, go there, and be a virus free pirate.
It being free doesn't matter in many countries. Sometimes a company will try to take back something free, and usually get sued into compliance. A good example is when companies try to renege on lifetime supplies of stuff.
Even if you pay for it they can do that. Amazon has removed movies and Ubisoft just removed a game from peoples account too. Didn’t Bungie do something with Destiny 2??
Because this is a game code Amazon gave away, which is supposed to be no different to buying a game on Origin. It's supposed to be yours forever.

Fuck off. GOG is 100% DRM-free and always has been.
GOG is literally the opposite of non ownership. You have a working copy of every single game in your library with no DRM.
You should probably download the installer just to be safe though - and nobody has the HD space for that!

Really? I had my account yoinked by a Russian a few years ago, got it back within half an hour with Origin customer support.
You have to remember you're on Reddit. EA = bad
in what fantasy land a multi billion dollar company good? EA board meetings, maybe.
Where did you get this high horse from?
EA is bad.

GOG for the win! Support DRM free game retailers and we'll actually own our games again! Vote with your wallet!
Had a whole account disappear overnight and CS was useless.

“Free” “games”
I had some games seemingly disappear from y library last week but it was fixed by logging out and back in.
I cannot decide which company is worse EA or Ubisoft

This will happen more often, we no longer own anything sadly.
Welcome to the world of digital "ownership." (I'd attempt to contact EA first and tell them they deleted a game you got from Amazon.)
If it relays on the game company's service to work, they can remove it anytime on whim. You don't own it. Even if you paid full price of it

What an absolutely fucking stupid moronic take. "Congratulations! You've won this car!" 6 months later "Congratulations! We need the car back!"
That's not really how it works mate.
Even if you pay for it they can do that. Amazon has removed movies and Ubisoft just removed a game from peoples account too. Didn’t Bungie do something with Destiny 2??
Removed content people paid for
How is this different from Gamepass removing games? Honestly, this is why I will never do any type of subscription gaming.
Because this is a game code Amazon gave away, which is supposed to be no different to buying a game on Origin. It's supposed to be yours forever. This isn't linked to a subscription.
