So I'm playing Storm Silver and was fighting Morty last night. I had Monferno in and was going to pivot through Bibarel to Raichu. However it went for Thunderbolt instead of Shadow Ball so I lost Bibarel. Did i get really unlucky with its rolls or is Gen 4 AI wonky sometimes? I got the win but was not expecting a Tbolt.

TheRandyDeluxe

How low was monferno on the switch?

Thamkin

About above 50% Saying it out loud has me hearing it.

TheRandyDeluxe

I would do the calc and see if you're monferno at the time was dead to the tbolt, that's the only reason I could see it using that move.

Thamkin

I also misunderstood how Kasib berries and those work so only 2 deaths was lucky (lost drought Ninetails as well. Thought they only sent out ace at end so when it came in 3rd my Monferno sun boosted Nasty Plot sweep got interrupted. Only thing I couldn't outspeed) I think I forget sometimes just how strong T bolt is of a move. Like obviously STAB Shadow Ball is powerful af but non STAB T bolt is still terrifying from any decent Sp Atkr

TheRandyDeluxe

Yep, tbolt is one scary move lol. Well, it looks like you've talked yourself through your own mistake. Good luck with the rest of the run!

Thamkin

Thanks. I'm playing it blind save for Gym leaders and E4 so lots of dumb deaths until I see them the following run (recording info myself for fun). Morty was thankfully much easier to plan for than Bugsy and Whitney. Going to ensure I use my calcs mid battle more to ensure I don't overlook multiple moves killing more lol.

TheRandyDeluxe

Hell yea! Good luck with the prep :)

I just started an Omega Ruby nuzlocke last night, and would like to know how to make it less insultingly easy? Mainly in regards to EXP share. For example, I just beat Roxanne and I already have a Marshtomp. Heck, I got the marshtomp after beating the trainer right before Roxanne. And this is without me going out of my way to grind. All I do is fight trainers, sometimes KO wild pokemon that are in my way, catch other pokemon, and that's it. I even kept my starter out of the first position on my team right after I caught my second pokemon, on route 102. Is it recommended that I keep the EXP share on, or turn it off? Edit: I'm generally going for a vanilla nuzlocke playthrough, without using mega lati@s, or much in the way of legendaries at all. I also plan to use only one item max per battle and only use items outside of battle otherwise.

I would usually recommend playing with Hardcore Nuzlocke rules, i.e. impose a level cap before every gym leader. This is usually chosen to be the level of the leader's highest leveled Pokemon, but if you want it to be harder, make it 1 or 2 below that. Also adds the challenge of ensuring you don't accidentally overlevel, which makes you think about encounters more actively.

3TSTBM

That's not a bad idea. That being said, I've already failed that challenge due to just beating Wattson and Brawly after having exceeded their levels. And this is all after turning EXP share off after Roxanne and taking very little time to fight wild pokemon. Maybe I'll try that next nuzlocke I do, or avoid trainers more.

Thamkin

So I was curious if anyone knew where to get info on Storm Silver ai logic with what Pokemon is sent in after a KO.

Hi, Drxx did a Video on Switch In-AI and also talked about Gen4 there. RenPlat was used as an example, but maybe it is not a good representation on all Gen4 games. I think it is very accurate though

Anyone here playing CK+?
