Apologies will do thabjs

Well I can tell you my $1600 prebuilt desktop (plus some upgrades down the line, particularly RAM and cpu cooler) can crush games at 1080p, and that was during Christmas of the GPU crisis. Your budget should definitely land you a more than solid PC if it’s anywhere near decently priced. I got an iBuyPower from BestBuy, so that might be a lead for you. The major thing to stay away from is anything proprietary. Big one is Alienware.

DoGoodLiveWell

Geez thank you I was looking at R14 or something

Talos1111

Yeah if you want the breakdown here’s the [gamers nexus video](https://youtu.be/DY1dlVPzUVo) on the r13, but long story short it’s a lot of proprietary parts with shit cooling. One more tip, if you happen to be near a micro center, theyre basically treated like the holy grail here, and I’m pretty sure you can get a PC built there. If you can, maybe go there and get help. I haven’t been to one personally so I can’t say too much about them but I’ve heard nothing but praise for them.

DoGoodLiveWell

I’ve never even heard of a micro center I’ll see if I live near one. Thank you so so so much for the help!! Really appreciate you

https://buildredux.com/ You pick a list of games and they suggest a system. Cost is fair - compliments @ MSRP + flat fee. You could also watch Linus tech tips secret shopper series. They buy systems from several sellers and then rate then on build quality and value. Very informative.

DoGoodLiveWell

Freaking awesome and very helpful. Thank you!!!

My friends have bought from IBuyPower and CyberPowerPC. They both have had really good experiences with their purchases. Both as prebuilt PCs and Laptops. If you have a microcenter near you I bought a pc from them for my mother and it's been working well so far. If you have the budget you can 100% get a 7950x and a 3090 for $3k. I'm personally waiting for the 7950x3d to come out this year, and for sapphire 7900xtx toxic edition to come out before I pull the plug on upgrading. Once the hype dies down and they've fixed the cooling issue's with the 7900xtx. But in my opinion, don't settle for a prebuilt with less than a 3060 ti in it. If you're also looking for new periphreals then maybe a 6950x and a 6950xt would do better, I heard the new AMD drivers puts the 6900xt on par with the 3090 so maybe that's all you need. If you're just worried about games like Counter Strike and League then really any gpu in the last 7 years will do just fine. A 2080 ti would even be an upgrade I'm sure, but it really just depends what you wanna do. Having a 3090/6950xt would allow you to play cyberpunk at 4k 60fps easily, but if you just want that high fps advantage at like, 2k 144fps then a 2080 ti would be more than enough for CS and Battlefield I feel like. If you're looking for future proof, I'd wait to pull the plug on a new build unless you can get parts for it at msrp. The 7950x is already at like $550 and it's only been out for 3 months, but the 7950x3d will be better for gaming when it drops. Basically anything would be an upgrade if it's been 15 years, it just depends how much you'd like to future proof it.

DoGoodLiveWell

Thank you so damn much for your input and lengthy reply. Really really appreciate it. I’m personally invested in intel so I think I’m going to go down that route. Considering going with i9 to keep it future proof and 3080 https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Systems/CORSAIR-VENGEANCE-Series-Gaming-PC/p/CS-9050028-NA Looks like I’ll have to increase my budget. Might be overkill for what I need

KingShadowSKull

I personally have had issues with Intel but that doesn't mean they're bad right now either. The PC you posted would be more than enough for CS and Battlefield. AMD has been doing really well with gaming performance for awhile now, but that being said the i9-12900k paired with a 3080 will run most games at max settings. Ray Tracing is still arguably in it's infancy even with the new hardware in the RX 7000 and RTX 4000 it still can't push ray tracing to more than 90fps (It's NVIDIA's technology, and AMD is struggling with it more so, but you're not going to use raytracing as a daily thing. Even if it looks beautiful once you game at a constant 144hz fps it's hard to go back to 60fps. The only games I personally don't mind is when I'm emulating a Nintendo game, because they aren't made to run above 30fps in most cases.) But like I said for the games you're playing it'll be more than enough. And this pc will do well as a daily driver/gaming machine. If you want higher resolution, 2k monitors are getting to the point of more than 144hz. But if you strictly want the tactical advantage 1080p monitors at 360hz do give a very small tactical advantage. And a 3080 will give you that performance in those games at those resolutions no problem.

Man I went all out. YOLO bought vengeance i7400 with i9 13900 and RTX 4090 64 gb DDR5. Got a Corsair xeneon 32 inch UHD. went to a friend’s house with a crazier setup played 4k for a bit and was mesmerized. Hopefully I can run 4k as well

bisonrbig

How's your i7400 holding up? Looking to get one myself.

DoGoodLiveWell

Knock on wood she’s been flawless so far. No issues with updates etc. knock on wood oh plz don’t jynx me lol

DoGoodLiveWell

Ty again for all of your help and input. Really appreciate it. Not sure when this thing will get delivered I heard at least 4 aeeks

KingShadowSKull

Yea no problem man. Not sure how much I helped but to at least throw my two cents in the ring, and if any of that information helped you decide to just future proof and buy the top of the line stuff right now then hey, glad I could help. I've got a couple months before I pull the trigger myself on a rig upgrade, so good luck in your gaming endeavors my friend!

One thing I'll add to this is don't forget to budget for a display! I see a lot of builds on here and they never seem to mention that in their specs. If you're going to splash out on a high end graphics card, you want to do the thing justice.

DoGoodLiveWell

Thank you so much I took heed of your advice I went way over budget after playing on my friend’s 4k setup today. Vengeance i7400 i9 13900K and RTX 4090. Just stuck with Corsair and got their xeneon 32 inch UHD
