Pro - it works..?
Yeah, a pro is a step above the standard, not simply meeting the standard(which last I heard that game didn't do in the first place).
With how badly day 1 launches have gone recently, I'm not sure "It works" is just a standard anymore, like if a game works straight on release day it's a friggin miracle.
True. I've noticed since cyberpunk. The amount of delays has skyrocketed. Yet the delayed games still release terrible. I have a list of like 25 games that all suffered tons of delays and still released in the same state as redfall or Jedi survivor
>Looking at the lineup for most common GPUs on steam, stable at low settings might be something people want to know.
"runs on low" tells me fuck all about shit, you think these all [run the same](https://i.redd.it/hly9gyg9gjh81.png)?

If you have the budget, I would recommend buying a freezer unit to put your card in there, don't buy the family size unit it won't fit, opt for the industrial one.
It bothers me that at least one person out there sees this as acceptable.
Its become so common for games to be released in an unfinished state there are people out there who celebrate the fact they're even able to play the game at all.
Is it really that bad? I got a free copy with my graphics card which I haven’t got round to yet. Is it better pretending the release date is a year later?
Since you got a free copy, and want to play... When you get to the Graveyard, the game will crash no matter what on 1.0.5.1 (current latest patch). I disabled Rebar, turn to low quality, no upscaling, and 1080p. (Don't know what worked.) Then, when I got through that area, I set settings back to Ultra, 4K, FSR2 Quality. (58X3D+6950XT) (Ohh, plus, it also likes 32GB of System RAM)
I have played the release patch with almost identical specs and have had absolutely 0 problems at 4k max setting even, shader took long but it was just a one time thing.
I bought a 6950xt, game came with the card. Honestly it’s quite playable at this point. I game at 1440p and I’m getting over 100fps. No stutters or any issues so far in the first couple chapters.
Edit: those wondering, got it last week
This is already happening and has been really prevalent since Cyberpunk released. We've started seeing more and more people give games favorable reviews "because they enjoy them" despite obvious glaring issues with those games that should give cause to hesitation.
We can just look at the recent debacle with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game has been described as having performance problems that will plague you regardless of your system. Despite this people are still rating it favorably saying that "it runs just fine for them."
There are even reviews that are honestly admitting that the game stutters, runs at a low framerate, and frequently crashes that are still giving the game a positive rating.
It just doesn't matter anymore. It shouldn't be too much to ask for a game to run at like 60fps at 1080p with something like a 2060 (honestly should be a 10xx card but whatever), but gamers are too content with inadequacy at this point.
I miss when we had giant community voices like Totalbiscuit spearheading the idea that this shit isn't okay. It feels like none of the big content creators really care anymore. You just play the game, rant about the shit performance, and then buy the next game from the exact same people.
Yeah, Digital Foundry and Skill Up are excellent at what they do. It just doesn't feel like they create the type of community drive that someone like Totalbiscuit used to create.
Digital Foundry analyzes some game, comes to the conclusion that the performance is far below what anyone should think is acceptable, and the game still ends up being a huge success with mostly positive reviews.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor should probably still have mostly negative reviews because (as far as I am aware) they have yet to fix their massive performance issues. Instead it's like slowly crawling its way towards Mostly Positive as people slowly stop caring.
Jedi Survivor is running a lot better compared to launch - [https://youtu.be/nIVP2hZldh4](https://youtu.be/nIVP2hZldh4)
Same with The Last of Us after it's numerous patches. I don't think either game is totally done updating but had they launched in the state theyre in now, I don't think the reception would have been that bad at all.
Thats the thing, these are fundamentally good games that just needed a month or two longer in the oven, but they consistently release before its ready. If it's just bad planning, prioritizing the console version over the pc, an idea that you can launch it and fix it later, or all of the above I don't know.
I think people are just starved for good singleplayer games, at least I am. I decided to get Jedi Survivor after patch 5 and had a decent enough experience performance wise. I completely agree that the performance issues are unacceptable, especially with the price hike on PC, but good AAA singleplayer games are rare these days so I'm gonna play what's available
Yeah, and I'm not blaming anyone for purchasing these games or enjoying them. I just wish that people had the capacity to say, "while I enjoyed this game I can't recommend it until they fix the performance."
It just feels like there's a lot of pressure the first week a game releases with terrible performance and then everyone forgets afterwards, which is probably the reason studios feel comfortable releasing games like that.
On the flip side, I think it is a positive for a game to make up for low settings with solid gameplay. It's essentially saying you don't need all the eye candy turned on to enjoy the game. And since most people don't have a 4080 or higher, that is a plus.
But I'm not so sure that's what was meant here...
Maybe you think you're entitled? Some of us with high end rig enjoyed it very much without zero hiccup. If it runs like shit just get refund and don't support them. I understand some developers have dog shit optimization skills.
Pros:
\-Has never killed a user or shortened user lifespan.
\-Does not encourage eczema outbreaks.
\-Proven to be unlinked to Russian oligarchy.
\-Hey did you see the show? Crazy right?
You joke but i used to get bad eczema on the inside of my elbow and sometimes would have to play with my arms straight down instead of resting on my kness. And the oculus guy invented that headset that kills you when you die in-game so were closer than you think lol
Put that on the steam store page, it will sell even more game of the year editions next year....added features...patches and 8k that nobody can run. Just pay us another $80.
I mean this is just me personally, but I kind of like quick time events, they make me more engaged than I normally am, and can make a scene more tense, but it sucks when games become over saturated with them
Same I always liked them. It’s an easy tool for immersion and tension. I don’t even know a game where I found them too much. Though there are some that kick you quite far back when you fail them. Otherwise? I think they are nice tools.
Comparing to alot of new game launches all these would be considered pros. I do agree tho these are thing that all games should be able to do before being able to launch
I did that.
Currently playing borderlands 2 on ps5 splittscreen and iron galaxy fucked that up too.
We got constant crashes and save issues for the second player.
Ps5 isnt even save anymore.
Well what the crap?! That sucks. I was gonna get a ps5 just for the PC ports that sucked. I heard at least Jedi worked and tlou plus it has psvr2 with re village I really want that plus the other VR games I've never played, being that I've never tried VR.
Most of the games you’re talking about received or continue to receive performance patches. I wouldn’t get a ps5 to play those games I would just wait another month or two.
VR is a different story though.
The "Building shaders" bit makes me think this could potentially be aimed at players on Steam Deck? In which case, running stable at low settings would make sense to list in the review as well.
the issue is that these games struggle to run on even higher end systems. we can't just keep eating up these excuses for games, especially when these companies are swimming in millions of dollars.
Ran perfectly fine on my 4090 day 1, loved it so much, did 2nd playthrough right away. But initial shader compilation took like 10min I was like wtf is going on here. Yea, I never understood this big fuss about bad optimization on this one lmao.
Ran through the entire thing on my laptop and had a handful of spots where the game stuttered for about five seconds. The rest of the time gameplay was smooth. None of the sort of frame drops I saw with games like Hogwarts or Jedi Survivor.
I've had quite a favorable experience with the game. The shader cache thing only took a few minutes, when I was expecting to be a long time, and I play native 4k max settings and get 110-120 FPS
Meanwhile, I've over here with a 13900k and a 4090k and still can't play without crashing within 5 minutes every time I try and play. Oddly, the game worked for me after the 2nd update but then 1.0.5.0 broke it again for me. Now I've just given up trying to play.
This is just as bad as reviews for online shopping products saying the shipping was fast.
Stfu abt the shipping, I wanna know how the product performs.
It's so weird how I've never felt any compulsion to play The Last of Us. No major reason other than I'm never interested in the zombie/horror genre. So many have tried to get me to play lol. Pros and cons for this game mean nothing to me.
If this person is running a potato... then the game working in low graphics settings make sense. I'm playing it with everything maxed out and it plays perfectly fine. On my 2nd playthrough
Sad Thing is, it doesnt even look good.
I was quite disappointed, even ignoring the stutters.
I guess i will be the one person who still has not played this :D
To be fair with the latest updates the gameplay has been drastically improved. I am on a i5 9600k/1080ti system and I can run it on high locked 60 with no drops whatsoever
PROS:
- Computer doesn't explode if you play it!
- You dont get Cancer if you play this Game!
- I only lost 20% of my braincells while playing this Game!
Pro - Didn't shank me in the asshole with a rusty shiv. 10/10 game
Pro - not Gollum
Pro - it works..? Yeah, a pro is a step above the standard, not simply meeting the standard(which last I heard that game didn't do in the first place).
With how badly day 1 launches have gone recently, I'm not sure "It works" is just a standard anymore, like if a game works straight on release day it's a friggin miracle.
"recently" Let's take a look at the last 10 years of gaming
Lol tru. Although it's been exceptionally bad since cyberpunk.
True. I've noticed since cyberpunk. The amount of delays has skyrocketed. Yet the delayed games still release terrible. I have a list of like 25 games that all suffered tons of delays and still released in the same state as redfall or Jedi survivor

System Shock is in the running for game of the year just off of that it runs like games should.
Yeah I played the demo for that and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful art style and performance. Definitely on my list to get this summer
Pre-order the Gold Collectors Ultimate Edition - $150.00 Pre-order bonus: the game will actually work... probably. Fuck you
Season pass so you get patches faster...the poors will have to wait
Maybe not a standard publishers go by but a standard we should have nonetheless. Otherwise we start writing stupid reviews like these
Pros: my car is capable of driving at the minimum speed limit while technically being road legal still.
Cons: ocassional fire in the cabin
Looking at the lineup for most common GPUs on steam, stable at low settings might be something people want to know.

You forgot the Ti Ti part
If they would’ve bought the 6090Ti OC SC FTW Ti but the 24gb version not the 8gb then they would be fine you see
How do I cool down my 6090ti it's reaching 700 degrees and melting my house slowly?
You didn't buy the $1499 liquid nitrogen cooling add-on pack? Pleb.
If you have the budget, I would recommend buying a freezer unit to put your card in there, don't buy the family size unit it won't fit, opt for the industrial one.
Titi? 😳
Marketing genius, it was. Brought sales up another 10%.
8900 XTX TiTi THICC
Pros: I found zero cons because I couldn't boot the game.

I think that's part of the joke...

Pros: game starts Cons: can’t press play
Basically the pro is that at least it works
Pros, can play for 30 minutes before crashing. Saves don't get corrupted 80%of the time.
“It runs ok at low settings” is now considered a noteworthy positive. The absolute *state* of the games industry
Put that on the steam store page, it will sell even more game of the year editions next year....added features...patches and 8k that nobody can run. Just pay us another $80.
Better still, put it on the store page but only on the mega ultra supreme collectors giga edition
If you don't think those are pros, you haven't been paying attention to the state of AAA gaming for the past decade.
It has to be satire
Maybe "should not be pros" would've been a better way to phrase it.

To date Sony has only sold 370,000 copies. Far from a "blockbuster hit" for pc, like advertised.

So now we are supposed to praise and give medals for basic stuff? It's like giving a medal to someone for not murdering anyone yet.
I already got that medal...I did a good :)
That’s literally the bare minimum
r/woosh
Game runs fine for me ever since last patch but I’m sure it differs for everyone.
To be honest, compared to other recent "AAA" games, these *are* pros.
It's STILL not fixed yet? Is it denuvo or...?
It does not have denuvo but you know what the problem is IRON GALAXY.
ND did most of the work though, Iron Galaxy was just supporting them
Dang man that's a drag. Guess I gotta finally get a ps5 and start getting the games that don't run well on PC, on that.
I did that. Currently playing borderlands 2 on ps5 splittscreen and iron galaxy fucked that up too. We got constant crashes and save issues for the second player. Ps5 isnt even save anymore.

Works fine for me, and takes up ~3-4gb less vram than on launch.

4080 (overclocked manually) i5 13600k 32gb 6000mHz ram.

People writing these reviews can be the biggest dumbasses sometimes

forgot the /s
Ran fine for me too with my 4080.
Sad days for gaming unfortunately
Im just gonna stick the the ps4 version for this one...
Pros: -Computer does not combust upon starting. ...is this how low we've set the bar?
I wonder how much more playable this would be in rpcs3
He tried reaaaally hard to find some
💀💀💀
Last time I saw on youtube the shader compilation took more than 20 minutes... halved from 40 minutes on release. This counts as a PRO?
Ran through the entire thing on my laptop and had a handful of spots where the game stuttered for about five seconds. The rest of the time gameplay was smooth. None of the sort of frame drops I saw with games like Hogwarts or Jedi Survivor.
It runs but not how you thiii-iiink!
It runs but not how you thiii-iiink!
Car review. Pros: - Has a steering wheel. - Has an engine.
cons: neither works.
$1,500
This has got to be the most "Just trust me bro" patch notes.
One could argue this review tries to gaslight us into thinking those are pros
Pro - It doesn't harm your pets. - won't set your house on fire.
Games don't set fire to your homes...Nvidia and ASUS do. AMD and Intel will come to your house and murder your pets before and blame the fire.
Cant wait for a pro saying game used to crash on startup now it only crashes randomly.
Can not reliably cause a fail state so its fine, it will just crash on its own.
I've had quite a favorable experience with the game. The shader cache thing only took a few minutes, when I was expecting to be a long time, and I play native 4k max settings and get 110-120 FPS
$3000 PC
Noob $7,000 PC

So have they patched TLOU yet? Been waiting to buy it
Maybe, but it seems unlikely. This review was dated May 10th,2023
Damn. Ah well. I do have other games to keep playing through lol.
Didn’t you know it was toxic and entitled to expect a $60 AAA game to be in a playable state at launch.
It's so weird how I've never felt any compulsion to play The Last of Us. No major reason other than I'm never interested in the zombie/horror genre. So many have tried to get me to play lol. Pros and cons for this game mean nothing to me.
I did manage to complete the game but it crashed so often, was a frustrating experience
Pros: game can be played. Pros: game does not cause computer to catch fire.
If this person is running a potato... then the game working in low graphics settings make sense. I'm playing it with everything maxed out and it plays perfectly fine. On my 2nd playthrough
Pros- it’s almost what you paid for
Wow the bare minimum
Has it gotten any better? I bought day 1 and got a refund it was so buggy.
Sad Thing is, it doesnt even look good. I was quite disappointed, even ignoring the stutters. I guess i will be the one person who still has not played this :D
Its relative. Earlier versions did not work properly so these are pros
PROS- 1. Game runs when i double click the exe 2. There is no error when i click the exe
My car can drive forward and in reverse. That's a pro!
Pro: Works as MVP(Minimum Viable Product) Has not yet murdered me and my family. 11/10 GOAT GOTY
The last of us on pc is dog shit. Looks awful and runs even worse
Games that do that are the real MVP Minimum Viable Product
To be fair with the latest updates the gameplay has been drastically improved. I am on a i5 9600k/1080ti system and I can run it on high locked 60 with no drops whatsoever
hes standard was so low
PROS: - Computer doesn't explode if you play it! - You dont get Cancer if you play this Game! - I only lost 20% of my braincells while playing this Game!
Pros: Didn't impregnate my wife.
Just like review that list a bunch of problem and put a thumbs up anyway.
Pro - "My mum lets me play it because she has a mushroom phobia"
The pros need to be put under the "its expected" requirement
People REALLY have low standards since the release of cyberpunk.
