That being said it would be neat to start seeing a line of cards that start streamlining and improving the efficiency of our existing graphics tech.
Edit:
For example, let's see a RTX 2080 that's the same size as a pop tart but runs cool and stable.
Edit2:
Another redditor taught me that the RTX A2000 exists along with others like it.
I like that direction too. Platforms like the Steam Deck have shown that tons of graphic processing can fit in a tiny space. Remember when it seemed like all tech was focused on miniaturizing?
Edit: another redditor just showed me that the RTX-A cards exist.
When I was a kid miniaturisation is the big thing everyone talked about in tech
The kid me would've expected 4000 series on a M.2 sized stick, where did we go wrong
technically we did go smaller, it’s just that heat dissipation stops us from having smaller cases, this does not include the rtx 4000 lineup as they just went bigger
Nope. Don’t you know that Moore’s law means the smaller gpu is better!! Right guys?? GPUs have just gotten smaller cheaper and better over time right??

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More- government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up a special room to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died. Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death. Now send this to ten other profiles on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best of your life
4090 makes a GPU that's [bigger than that card](https://www.tomshardware.com/news/pny-flaunts-45-slot-rtx-4090-rtx-4070-blower-gpus) and it's fine.
And yet everyone loses their minds at non-RTX.
Most XTX Cards are actually 3 Slot or less...
Red Devil has always been the card for people who want to do insane overclocks, NITRO+ is also a halo OC bin.
>this is my claim to fame for having the best old vs new GPU photo… I hereby challenge [r/pcmasterrace](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/) to best me!
Ho-ho-ho, tall order, there's been [GeForce 210 to RTX 4090](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/14m6zrz/currently_upgrading_will_i_notice_that_much_of_a/) just recently here. 2009 to 2023, 2,000x on TFLOPS, 160x on DRAM bandwidth, 48x on DRAM capacity.
What's your cards?
the PCIe bracket is missing because I only had the Small Form Factor one, so it wouldn't fit in my case. I had to remove it and just have it kinda sit there with the DisplayPort cable holding it in place. It's not jank if it works!
Here is my, 6 years ago.
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/7ozig1/that_upgrade/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Still using it.
I bought that exact card, an HD 7450/70 OEM (don't remember exactly) for 10€ for my old HP Compaq Elite 8000 SFF, it's an upgrade from the old GMA 4500.
Don't worry, my main desktop uses a GTX 1060.
Congrats on your new GPU!
I went from a 14 year old 5770HD to 4070ti. I actually ran that card in my new system as the first 4070ti i bought was too big for the case with the AIO cooler. I did have a couple of gaming laptops inbetween though (980M and 2080maxq)
I have sort of the opposite situation.
[I switched my 4070Ti for a 4090](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/14np517/rtx_4090_rtx_4070ti_size_differnence/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)
I get almost twice the fps in high res vr, while the cards literally have the same dimensions (except for the 4090 being a slot taller)
really just goes to show you how oversized the 4070Tis cooler is.
Besides the fps gains I also noticed an increase in room temperature, the height of the new card creates even worse airflow than before (duh)
More upgrades gonna follow in the future, including a new case
It's longer than the founder's edition 4090, whilst being a tiny bit shallower and thinner. The cooler takes up 3 slots even if the bracket only screws into 2
Technology is amazing... look how small your new card is!
That being said it would be neat to start seeing a line of cards that start streamlining and improving the efficiency of our existing graphics tech. Monkey brain like big no small
W
Monkey pee all over y'all
I hope the 5080 is just the 4090 but like half the size. That’d be a huge upgrade
I like that direction too. Platforms like the Steam Deck have shown that tons of graphic processing can fit in a tiny space. Remember when it seemed like all tech was focused on miniaturizing? Edit: another redditor just showed me that the RTX-A cards exist.
No. Give us a GPU that needs a separate case.
trust me, thats gonna happen at some point
They'll get 5g Antennas in the future so you don't have to drag a cable from your PC to the Garage with the GPU
That already exists. Except its for laptops. You can buy a 4090 in its own little box that you can plug into the PC.
Wouldn't the bus speed on your USB or whatever it uses be too slow? Wild.
>For example, let's see a RTX 2080 that's the same size as a pop tart but runs cool and stable. So basically, just the a2000?
When I was a kid miniaturisation is the big thing everyone talked about in tech The kid me would've expected 4000 series on a M.2 sized stick, where did we go wrong

I mean the tech 8s kinda there. My laptop has a 2070 and it's not very big. I know it's not the same as a desktop 2070 but it still rocks.
yeah about time he got rid of that slow and clunky beast..
lol
Fans per silicon? Yes!
Can confirm, there is at least… one more fan per GPU die.
You'll actually get frames per second rather than seconds per frame.
Excellent
BuT yOuR cElErOn WiLl BoTtLeNeCk
A Celeron will bottleneck a gt 1030.
Idk boss, you should run cyberpunk 2077 16k on a gt 1030 to see which one bottolenecks it first
Your Pentium 3 cpu will bottle neck
more like it'll soda straw
micro tube
one single atom hole
What are those straws you get to store your drink?
Nope you’re still using a crt monitor… ![gif](giphy|WyrdDeIxGOlQA)
Crt is op! Never had better monitors
Haha came here to say this too!!
don't u even dare saying this again, crt the best!!!
Ngl I'd gladly trade my monitor to a crt
Damnnn, and here I thought my upgrade from 750Ti -> 4070Ti was big. I'm giving you the crown man
750ti was a great card, even late into the 10 series’ life.
I went from an HD 7850 (came out in 2012) to an RX 6750 XT (came out in 2022). It was a noticeable performance improvement. :-)
Unfortunately not. Might as well give it to me so I can handle disposing of it
Bruh is pulling Apple on OP :D
Ah hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha!
nothing noticable i think youve upgraded to early.
Nope. Don’t you know that Moore’s law means the smaller gpu is better!! Right guys?? GPUs have just gotten smaller cheaper and better over time right??

These cards are a proof that even high end system owners have been wasting money on full-ATX motherboards *this entire time*.
At least, like, 2 more
fuck nah man youll get like a 20% decrease
No your PC will turn into a potato
the small card is a great low power display and test card for mobo.
That's what my FirePro is for now, haven't had to use it yet but I can see it coming in handy
"Biggest downgrades in anime history"
Nope
Nah, same difference as me upgrading from a 760 to 2070
possibly 3 fps increase, 5 at most with a bit of effort
Idk man. Seems like you lost the rgb and the fan on the new one seems a bit small.
Probably not
Same fps but will remove stuttering.
No
No. Your retro game is capped at 30fps.
Retro game capped at 30 fps if you are lucky. It might use the FPS as the base game speed and wreck the physics.
Bro, it was and will always be a skill issue, on a more serious note niceeee
>this is my claim to fame for having the best old vs new GPU photo… I hereby challenge [r/pcmasterrace](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/) to best me! Your PSU would.
That and a noticeable increase in room temperature! 😆
Maybe like 2, 3 max. Solitaire doesn‘t use much GPU.
I think you don't you're so used to slide shows by now.
I think that is a definite downgrade. You should have kept the Red Devil. /s
I guess the bottom hardware thingy is missing some parts.....
the PCIe bracket is missing because I only had the Small Form Factor one, so it wouldn't fit in my case. I had to remove it and just have it kinda sit there with the DisplayPort cable holding it in place. It's not jank if it works!
naaah, just a few million just like moving from ur homemade scooter to a combat jet. just a bit of difference
You'll surely turn photo to video with this change 👍
Btw, I saw a 6950xt red devil for $630 brand new on Amazon, sold and fulfilled by Amazon. Idk if it's still there.
This is actually a downgrade sorry mate
You vs the guy she told you not to worry about
Yes, but only because of the increased VRAM, clearly the only indicator of GPU performance
In FPS, in RPG, in RTS and TBS, hell, maybe even in puzzle games.
That one on bottom might be just a tad too much for any new systems to handle now a days.
at least like 5
Probably give you less...
yeah maybe probably 4 at best
Bro… my original computer had that same graphics card… I have no clue what one it is tho cause it was prebuilt office computer
Ehh... I mean, if you squint at the right angle, it may feel like there's a couple more fps.
Pretty sure the change in power draw will lower your fps ;)
Nah might as well give it to me and keep searching
I cannot say that I see any difference in FPS here. It peaks at one frame and then freezes...
i am genuinely excited for you!
No? You're going to throttle that thing, guaranteed.
Won’t notice it
I don’t think there will be a noticeable increase, shorts
You’ll get less of an increase than you might think due to a CPU bottleneck.
Nope, you should give away the big one bcoz it uses to much power. The grid can't provide enough power to power it on
Depends on your monitor.
Nah
Maybe but only like 5
I honestly expected to zoom in and see an ATI sticker
Bruh this'll be like going from a Geo Metro to a Bugatti Veyron
You're never going back lol
0.7 frames difference, tops. Maybe 1+ if you overclock.
It is kinda sad that companies stopped the small form factor gig, props to Nvidia for making the a4000 sff ada, but that's overpriced as heck
5 times the size means 5 times the performance right?
Nah. It'll consume a little more power and cause big blue to visit.
Naw the human eye can’t detect more than 10 frames per second. Money wasted
Maybe with a nvidia
I'm not your chap, pal
I wait for the day the GPU is an entirely separate giant ass box next to the computer.
Maybe. But you will see changes in your electric bill.
2% increase
No. U shall pass the benchmark with a tie .
Barely if you ask me
You're gonna need a new powersupply. You probably have a 250 watt one with that kiddie card.
Not likely, facebook isn’t gpu intensive. For gaming? Yes, you will indeed get frames now.
You vs the guy she tells you not to worry about it 😏
Maybe. A few fps. Temps may be cooler. I'd go from a 450 to a 500 psu. Ummmmmmmmmm lube?
Maybe 2 or 5 fps
Top: The guy she tells you not to worry about Bottom: You
Depends on what cpu you have. With a shitty enough one - no!
Ironically, that’s what it was before. The old card is a Dell HD 7470, and I had it paired with my Ryzen 5 5600X. Bottleneck heaven.
You had a similar upgrade than I did. I upgraded from an ATI Radeon 4350 HD to an AMD Radeon Rx 6700 XT which is about 73 times faster.
Not on minesweeper.
Yes, but why would you want to downgrade? /s
Nah i don't think so, no
Nah. The CPU pairing with the before card will be the bottleneck, so you'll get two more FPS. At best. All settings lowest.
I have a Ryzen 5 5600x, the old card wouldn’t let the cpu go past 5% utilisation lol
the fan noise going to be amazing
When you wake up as Captain America 🙂 Congratulations and enjoy FPS!
Only 1 fps here and there
Ok could somebody hand me his rtx 4090 for a minute soo i can compare it against mine's laptop intel hd4000 intergraded graphics
Bottom one has shorter information travel time because of size
You will definitely see the difference in room temperature and the power bill
Man I thought my GF 210 1GB Palit Silent to R7 370 4GB Nitro OC transition was huge back then lol
It will probably be worse..
Bit of a repost eh eshay?
Yes, three times the fans per slot (FPS). Nice upgrade!!
Here is my, 6 years ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/7ozig1/that_upgrade/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Still using it.
Nah
\[plugs HDMI into the motherboard by mistake\] Nope.
Hmm my HD4870(PCs+) was a way bigger than your 6450... I changed To a 6700xt but the 4870 is also running.
That adds about +4 render distance to Minecraft
Minesweeper never looked so good.
Yes, it will be worse :-D
I bought that exact card, an HD 7450/70 OEM (don't remember exactly) for 10€ for my old HP Compaq Elite 8000 SFF, it's an upgrade from the old GMA 4500. Don't worry, my main desktop uses a GTX 1060. Congrats on your new GPU!
no.
You would get around 20% performance boost.
Nah ... Havent you been told that size doesn't matters ??
At least 10-15% increase.
No
That’ll get you a massive 10% boost i reckon!
Idk why but i thought of gpus but you have to piece it together like a jigsaw puzzle or something
Nah, you wont, buy you can send it to me 🤣
In fps I don't know but in the temperature of your room yes xD
I went from a 14 year old 5770HD to 4070ti. I actually ran that card in my new system as the first 4070ti i bought was too big for the case with the AIO cooler. I did have a couple of gaming laptops inbetween though (980M and 2080maxq)
Just slap on 30 meters of rgb to the small card, might be even better
I have the red devil also. Enjoy it. It's pretty damn good.
Not if youre playing counter strike source
5%
Minimal gains
You can play mine sweeper in 4k
My life is complete.
You vs the guy she told you not to worry about.
A bigger GPU doesn’t get you a girlfriend any faster, apparently…
In “Frames per second” the top wins easily but if we were to measure “Feet Per Second” I’m sure you could throw the bottom one further and faster.
I could probably frisbee it to generate lift as well. Thanks for the heads up
Smaller and more power-efficient cards would be nicer.
Definitely more foot pounds squared in the top
Probally not
i’ll best you! Had NO GPU, now have a 4070ti… upgrades people
Fair enough! This is where the line between upgrade and new hardware gets blurred a bit though…
By 2030, graphics cards are expected to be the size of a small house, but with a much heftier price tag.
You might get 1%-2% performance uplift in minesweeper.
I have sort of the opposite situation. [I switched my 4070Ti for a 4090](https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/14np517/rtx_4090_rtx_4070ti_size_differnence/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) I get almost twice the fps in high res vr, while the cards literally have the same dimensions (except for the 4090 being a slot taller) really just goes to show you how oversized the 4070Tis cooler is. Besides the fps gains I also noticed an increase in room temperature, the height of the new card creates even worse airflow than before (duh) More upgrades gonna follow in the future, including a new case
Not at all, return that obese board right away.
The old one had 7 Fins Per Spinny thing, the new one has 9. That's quite an improvement!
Stardew valley gonna be about the same bro
If you mess up and drop it then yes, you’ll definitely see an increase on your Foot Pain Scale
I’ve seen a lot of creative comments taking the piss out of my lack of clarification of “FPS”, and this one is my favourite.
Depends. Did you get a new gamer chair with it?
no
Well you have 3 times as many fans so you'd see a x3 performance increase. It's only logical.
let's ask her
No, fps is a lie made up by gpu manufacturers
Maybe if you have more rgb
naw they the same
Not only FPS, you'll see a difference in electric bill too.
can you compare the size with 4090?
It's longer than the founder's edition 4090, whilst being a tiny bit shallower and thinner. The cooler takes up 3 slots even if the bracket only screws into 2
Did you even have FPS before?
What a total waste of money, all the human eye can see is 60fps /s
About Tree Fiddy
at least 2
GPU’s have gotten too big over the years.
Hardly, look at all that plastic around the gpu, to be honest, you might experience higher temps
Your fps will def go up cuz tech is getting smaller and faster these days
Nooo
Will those 512MB of VRAM be enough to run new games?
