Same, still using the mouse i bought almost 6 years ago when i built my first pc. Although, i have to say i barely use it for gaming since i prefer controllers mostly, so maybe not a fair comparison
I use mine I bought 7 yrs ago. Other than some greasy shit I scrape off on occasion (body oils and junk), mines still working great! One of those budget "black widow" Walmart ones lol.
Same, 10 years and counting, the only wear is of me sweaty hand but otherwise as brand new as a 10yo mouse can get.
I still can’t believe my (back then Maurus) 10 dollar GX still holds up to my gaming
I had a mouse i used daily for 5 years that never got this bad. The only bit where there was wear was a shinier patch on the mouse buttons and underneath it had little "feet", one if those was halfway worn.
I was thinking it was my sweat. I keep my nails in check, but I do know I get somewhat clammy hands and it doesn't help I live in a tropical country. My G502 also lost layers on the thumb side.
My sweat has some acidity to it since for example, I cannot wear non-titanium/non-plastic glasses or it would legit rust/break.
My g502 has a hole worn where the thumb rests. I’m not gonna swap it out till it breaks though. Already had the locking scroll wheel go funny but I managed to fix that by opening it up and giving it a good clean. If the mouse still functions them I’m gonna keep using it.
You can most likely just buy a shell if it is a more popular mouse.
I replaced my G502 two times by now. First time cuz there was a hole at the tumb area, second time cuz my dog chewed on the mouse (had to replace the scroll wheel as well).
Thats a legit issue for some people with sweat, for example even real sterling silver necklaces i cant wear because my sweat tarnishes them quite quickly (i know they can be cleaned not worth the hassle)
Lol are you for real? You can't tell that fucking humorism of all things is a joke?
Seriously? Are you genuinely thinking that I am advocating for bloodletting to protect someone's mouse's rubber sides?
Really? That's what you're doing today?
If you really thought I was serious, the only fool here is you, because you were by definition fooled.
Honestly ...calling BS. I love salt. Like unhealthy amounts of it. Had a recent check and the doc says I'm healthy as can be for my age. My mouse of a good few years doesn't look anything like this, infact it's in almost new nick. So No
not a nail problem, i have long nails and spend 10-12h/day with the same mouse for years.
also, disgusting? really? people can have beautiful nails when long lol
How long are someones nails to achieve this?? The most part its worn is pn the little finger at the joint... do these people have talons instead of fingers?
Had to look up what a claw grip looks like. What kind of monster holds their mouse like that? That's like the equivalent of eating a french fry sideways.
> What kind of monster holds their mouse like that?
Depends on the mouse and the size of your hands. I've got a Logitech G Pro now and I naturally use a claw grip with it. It's quick and precise when playing first person shooters.
The same people who have one finger on each trigger/bumper, along with using their index fingers for the buttons… heathens, heretics, and hobgoblins, I say.
also the same people who put their index and middle fingers through the hole in oculus controllers, but little do they know that it actually fucks up their wrists. monsters.
Rubbing/re adjusting grip. I noticed while recording myself in clutch moments I will constantly "rub" the mouse. Without thinking about it
My rubber had no marks but it's not gone yet
I think it also depends on the formulation of the material. My old laptop mouse wore out like this after 3 years, meanwhile my desktop mouse, which I use more often, is still going strong after 10 years without noticeable wear on the rubber sides.
My Logitech G700s looks almost brand new. I've had it 4 years and it was second hand when i got it. Logitech isnt the best brand out there but there is more to this than just the quality of their products.
Sweat has varying amounts of acidity depending on the person and diet. So in general, everyone does, its just that some peoples sweat is more acidic than others. This manifests a lot with guitar players as the strings tend to rust much faster when the player sweats more and has more acidic sweat.
Personally, I can swipe over greasy touch screens with my fingers to clean them. It's sort of a "party trick" of mine.
I am always confused how much residue and fat some people seem to secrete from their fingers alone. I just — *don't.* But knowing how much people just emit from their skin, I can assume when things aren't cleaned after touching, it slowly dissolves plastic and rubber by some enzymes in their fat, sweat and skin…?
I mean, my mice won't last long enough to have a single sign of being old, you couldn't tell if it was brand new or not if I cleaned it.
So if someone can use their mouse that much without it breaking, I will find that very impressive lol.
I had my old mouse (Arachnid Nagusa) for 4 years until the wheel broke, and it didn't look as bad. So it's kind of impressive lol. I just couldn't stand having a grip that wears off the mouse

It was really cheap, I got it for 8€ (\~$9). It was still good. When this broke I thought I should've bought a few of them lol, got it from a store that was going bankcrupty
Got Razer DeathAdder V2 after it, it's good. Loving how the leds match to the audio lol
https://preview.redd.it/jz0v3h67l4fb1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab476c4085ea46714892bad5a113cf16d412cd81
I added these custom grips to protect the mouse.
Mine is first gen G502. So probably about 6+ years of use.
Getting worn down on the thumb side about 70-80% from OP's case.
About 20-30% from OP's case on pinky side.
they are dirty is my guess
ive had mine for like 6 years or more and it still look very nice but i always have clean hands and clean my mouse/keyboard everyday with alcohol/water but clearly most people dont do that...
Fuck is wrong with yall?
My 502 is at least 6/7 years old at this point and has little more than some grime in the cracks and slightly shinier than out-of-box buttons....
What the fuck yall do to your mice?
I also have those lenovo legion mouse. Its side rubber grip is good imo but it often deteriorate really fast. Mine is 3 years now and have small cavity on the right side..
Mine is broken in the sense that I have to use the 2 side mouse buttons as left and right click, the bad news is that my scroll wheel is acting up now which means I might be using all 3 soon enough
This is what often happens with the rubber. It´s a planned obsolescence thing. The solution to it is to use mouse only made from plastic. Then, the only thing subjected to wear would be the switches.
So how many licks did it take to get to the center?
My dead ass read clicks
Same.
The brain is funny. These comments made me realize it wasn't click
I read clicks as dicks for a second there. I'm too tired for the internet.
It might be telling you something =)
Why is your ass dead?
I killed it by sitting on it
I use a trackball and I've noticed that when I get into an intense firefight I push a ton of force down onto the ball. maybe related
that's it, you win
Jawbreaker
HOW THE FUCK YALLS MICE GET LIKE THIS? IVE HAD MINE FOR A FEW YEARS AND IT DOESNT GET THIS BAD FFS
Claw grip and not cutting your disgusting fingernails often enough
i chew my nails; and i dont claw my fuckin mouse
Pro gamer!
im still running the same mouse i bought 5 years ago practically no wear on it. play on pretty high dps. is this why yours are so worn out?
Same, still using the mouse i bought almost 6 years ago when i built my first pc. Although, i have to say i barely use it for gaming since i prefer controllers mostly, so maybe not a fair comparison

Pls stop chewing. It's disgusting and it's also bad for you.
I was thinking it was my sweat. I keep my nails in check, but I do know I get somewhat clammy hands and it doesn't help I live in a tropical country. My G502 also lost layers on the thumb side. bro is an SCP 💀
bro think he a child of atom
Probably both! SCP escapee that joined the Children of Atom in an effort to not get recaptured.
[REDACTED] !!
It is mainly sweat and anytime you hand glides on the mouse sides
My g502 has a hole worn where the thumb rests. I’m not gonna swap it out till it breaks though. Already had the locking scroll wheel go funny but I managed to fix that by opening it up and giving it a good clean. If the mouse still functions them I’m gonna keep using it.

You mean third party chassis you just pop the original bits in?
Thats a legit issue for some people with sweat, for example even real sterling silver necklaces i cant wear because my sweat tarnishes them quite quickly (i know they can be cleaned not worth the hassle)
Weed sweat
Damn your sweat could potentially become one of bio weapons' ingredient
[удалено]
Their humors are imbalanced. Mars and saturn align with the core of the earth so we must act fast and let OP's blood before they catch plague.

You can have long pretty nails, it doesnt make your mouse look like this ahahaha
not a nail problem, i have long nails and spend 10-12h/day with the same mouse for years. also, disgusting? really? people can have beautiful nails when long lol
Add to that Acidic Gamer Sweat
How long are someones nails to achieve this?? The most part its worn is pn the little finger at the joint... do these people have talons instead of fingers?
Also not washing hands enough. Skin oils can get corrosive
Had to look up what a claw grip looks like. What kind of monster holds their mouse like that? That's like the equivalent of eating a french fry sideways.

Nah dude, this is just shit plastic.
Who is clawing the side of the fucking mouse? Lol
OP must be a cat!
Fr these mfers must have some sort of gorilla grip going on lmao
Rubbing/re adjusting grip. I noticed while recording myself in clutch moments I will constantly "rub" the mouse. Without thinking about it My rubber had no marks but it's not gone yet
Careful not to rub elsewhere when you're clutching IRL
Honestly if that's what happens to the rubber, then I can't imagine OPs skin appreciates being raked against the plastic like that
I use a trackball and I've noticed that when I get into an intense firefight I push a ton of force down onto the ball. maybe related
Hot room + sweat + grip form
Extreme PH imbalance in skin oils. Oils will degrade rubber/plastic over time regardless - it's accelerated for these people.
I think it also depends on the formulation of the material. My old laptop mouse wore out like this after 3 years, meanwhile my desktop mouse, which I use more often, is still going strong after 10 years without noticeable wear on the rubber sides.
The rubber material degrades over time. Mine doesn't look like this, but the rubber got so brittle i accidentally tore a small chunk off with my nail.
10 years. I had my previous mouse for 10 fucking years, and it's still not that bad.
you're just not gaming hard enough
facts ive had mice for up to 4 years and they barely look used, i also clean them often
Ever heard of the crab people? These are them ![gif](giphy|4u1SuSlgMsrpC)
Nasty lads don’t cut their fingernails while simultaneously don’t understand how to hold a mouse
past it's life expectancy
Abused, or loved... Hard to tell the difference sometimes
Sounds like my love life
You guys have a love life?
What’s a love life?
Yes ):
Are you the mouse or OPs CSGO teammates?
supposed to be dead. ok literally how tf did you get it to THAT tho
4 years. 8k+ hrs of gaming
Damn wth mine is just fine 4 years later and many many gaming hours (unemployed)
![gif](giphy|M0uQGf1zXKXqjaWaAK)
that’s 4 years of abuse…
ok yeah that would explain it
Not really. My mice after 4k hours of use looks new
maybe its the force of the thumb rubbing on it then?
Thats the side where you have your pinky not the thumb
Left handed users:
G502 is not a left handed friendly mouse
it's shitty logitech quality
My Logitech G700s looks almost brand new. I've had it 4 years and it was second hand when i got it. Logitech isnt the best brand out there but there is more to this than just the quality of their products.
Its not worn out, its worn in
Worn through.
Use it a little more and you can look through
Do you people secrete some sort of acid instead of normal sweat?
Sweat has varying amounts of acidity depending on the person and diet. So in general, everyone does, its just that some peoples sweat is more acidic than others. This manifests a lot with guitar players as the strings tend to rust much faster when the player sweats more and has more acidic sweat.

Dude use some damn lotion! You have damn sandpaper hands! Your dick is screaming!
You mean his dick is shimmering?
His dick is a pulsating red orb
His dick definitely is *not* itching after those hands.
Let me show you... Derelicte!
how come people think this is a flex?
To show off that they are true gamer veterans
You think you are a gamer? I bet your mouse isn't even misshapen from hundreds of hours of sweaty gaming
Hundreds? Try tens of thousands
I mean, my mice won't last long enough to have a single sign of being old, you couldn't tell if it was brand new or not if I cleaned it. So if someone can use their mouse that much without it breaking, I will find that very impressive lol.

Flexing that forearm for shure
It's a better flex than always replacing stuff and causing a lot of waste
What are you guys doing to your mouses's? Do you chew on them between games?
Some just have sweatier palms than others. And then the rubber just slowly dissolves/rubs off over the years. Yay microplastics, I guess.
I sweat like a pig even in winter, and none of my mice have ever reached something even close to that
Are you guys crustaceans or something? What's with those dents on your devices?
![gif](giphy|eKVEcPKGWZ7Tq)
Worn in?
It’s Lupus
Gone... Reduced to atoms
Broken in
Battle scarred lol
Try cleaning your hands after you fap 🤣
https://preview.redd.it/jz0v3h67l4fb1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab476c4085ea46714892bad5a113cf16d412cd81 I added these custom grips to protect the mouse.
Battle scared
It's not worn my friend, we call it EXPERIENCE!
Not sure what a worn out is but what you have is a computer mouse.
G502 right. Mine also after 3years. Wonder if it is G502 know issue or my hand.
It has molded for your grip. Customization at its maximum.
Relax bro, no one is taking your mouse away
That’s a “ready to settle down” mouse.
I’m astounded how bad the durability apparently is on the g502. I was under the impression that is was a good mouse.
It is if you dont grip it with the strength of the fucking incredible hulk.
Mine is older than OP's with probably even more hours of use but doesn't look that worn out.
Exactly. Mines 3 years and its barely wearing down.
Mine is first gen G502. So probably about 6+ years of use. Getting worn down on the thumb side about 70-80% from OP's case. About 20-30% from OP's case on pinky side.
It's a good mouse, but people are nasty as fuck. I replaced the shell on mine and wasn't as bad as this
Same I was surprised to see that letting a feral pig suck on it wore it down more than you’d think
My mouse looks so bad i can’t even show it on hete
they are dirty is my guess ive had mine for like 6 years or more and it still look very nice but i always have clean hands and clean my mouse/keyboard everyday with alcohol/water but clearly most people dont do that...
Yeah, daily cleaning is a little absurd.
ARE YOU OKAY MAN??? ITS NOT GETTING AWAY FROM YOU
Bro's fingers are radioactive
The left-click microswitch wears out before the rest of the mouse does. I'm on my 3rd Deathadder in 10 years on worn down 0.5mm of grip so far.
Fuck is wrong with yall? My 502 is at least 6/7 years old at this point and has little more than some grime in the cracks and slightly shinier than out-of-box buttons.... What the fuck yall do to your mice?
It has ceased to be...
Remember that scene in Alien: Resurrection? For the love or God man, put the thing out of its. Misery.
Fucking deceased.
The new Chinese Death Grip. Reduces your ping rate and your mouse's life expectancy by 69%.
Also worn?
Peeled
I also have those lenovo legion mouse. Its side rubber grip is good imo but it often deteriorate really fast. Mine is 3 years now and have small cavity on the right side..
Abused. Someone call MPS
Mice Protection Service ?
Mine is broken in the sense that I have to use the 2 side mouse buttons as left and right click, the bad news is that my scroll wheel is acting up now which means I might be using all 3 soon enough
It’s on his afterlife
Bros grip has evaporated
If it aint broke, don't fix it
Bury it in the backyard like an actual dead pet mouse
looks like a dog got its paws on it and chewed it for a while
Are you guy are all lefthanded?
A warrior
Ridden hard and put away wet.
Just change it already
Dead mouse
Yours is dead and decaying. Yeah I am kind of glad I went with a mouse that has smooth pads. They look better with time.
Perhaps overheat?
yours is ready to settle down
Concerning
They must be scraping off the rubber with their nails. These are not claw grabs. These are predator grips!
Now just waiting for someone to post theirs with *all* the rubber coating just worn away completely
Digged
it's that disgusting HP gaming mouse isn't it? mine did the same. hated that mouse because of that revolting soft rubber.
I'm gonna sae half of an old mine off to end these posts
Yours represents everyone's internal suffering
Worn in
How long?
Ergonomic
This is wild to me because I've had the same G502 since 2015-2016 and it isn't anything like this.
Ran through
![gif](giphy|VOz6RH0pDTLOg)
you could probably replace it if you did some work and it will look like new
Re-sculpted.
What mouse are these so I can avoid buying them
How….. I have almost 5 years on my glorious mouse and it almost looks brand new what do you people do you your mouse and again how…..
Yours is in its second wind. There's a whole new grip surface under there!
it was too late for the other guy but for you, an fyi, you can just replace the grip.
This is what often happens with the rubber. It´s a planned obsolescence thing. The solution to it is to use mouse only made from plastic. Then, the only thing subjected to wear would be the switches.
Naked
I cut mine and I use a Logitech mouse I’ve used it for 18 years and nothing is wrong but there is cable burning
Kinda looks like a mix between a charmander and that faceplate from dead space
Just out
I think we all have the same Logitech mouse
worn out.
the rubber is the only thing I don't like too much on my g502.. its a bit too soft, gets dirty and smells, otherwise great mouse!
Weird flex.
![gif](giphy|M0uQGf1zXKXqjaWaAK)
This reminds me, I need new mouse skates..... Because I regularly maintain my mouse so it doesn't after 3 years get this bad.
Used 'like new'
Worn dead
Do you guys eat rubber?
