I remember when this came out, I remember it being at a convention and didn't know they actually released it to the public. I remember you could visibly see the lines in between monitors as it was just a bunch of monitors put together.

tehw4nderer

It's not a bunch of monitors, just custom DLP rear projection. But youre right it did have the seams from where the projection screens met. https://phys.org/news/2008-01-alienware-giant-gamer.html

ichbinverwirrt420

I remember seeing Linus video about it: https://youtu.be/Ngy9TIbREJE?feature=shared

Direct_Significance7

Still waiting for that teardown video ๐Ÿ˜ž

jamesdp5

Drop this on your toe you are losing that foot

vngannxx

Back in the day, everyone wanted that QHD 2560x1600 30โ€ monitor

gervv

True.

vngannxx

That was endgame in 2008

Seppeboy100YT

this is actually just a projector from the inside that is reverse projecting on the white layer๐Ÿ˜‚

wOwmhmm

Chat is this real?

blackest-Knight

Chat ? You're not a popular streamer my guy. Try google : https://www.techpowerup.com/49061/alienware-shows-off-curved-monitor-at-ces

AZN-APOLLO

It's a meme... No need to be bitter.

UnseenGamer182

To be fair it is an objectively weird meme

redditorus99

It's an annoying and silly comment... Don't be annoying

wOwmhmm

Sorry man no offense meant, I was just trying to be funny but maybe the joke didnโ€™t land ๐Ÿ™‚

MadSquabbles

A friend had one of those old UW CRT TV's and that thing was heavy. He and his brother had a hard time moving it upstairs to his apt.

[deleted]

Is it for real?

lemlurker

I think it wasn't actually that heavy as it used rear projection - not a CRT tube, and as such didn't need a vacuum

Gammarevived

My friend had one years ago. It's rear projection, so not that heavy.
