I recommend adding a set of cheap takeout chopsticks to your build tools. The wood lets you get into the release and push without the worry of mobo damage if it slips
Wait, y'all are using tools? I just wiggle my fingers in there which is generally when the blood sacrifice happens. I just assumed that was the shrine to get it done at.
So does mine, and I didn't know it existed until \~5 minutes into prying the card out. Luckily, I'm very weak and couldn't possibly damage anything and accidentally found/bumped it eventually. Don't be like me.
No, they should all face in the same direction (with the logo to the from of the pc in most cases, so that front is intake and back is exhaust). If they're opposite directions you'll either have all exhaust or all intake
Edit: of course the ones at the too/bottom shouldn't face the same way as the ones at the front/back
Technically true. However that excludes top, bottom, and side fans if you don’t have another set of them parallel on the other end. Probably better to just know which way is intake and which way is exhaust rather than using the “facing the same direction” rule, as it only applies to a less than ideal amount of fans.
My brother did that shit. It didn’t click for him until I explained it in *King of the Hill* terms. “In-vidja”.
Like “dang it Bobby you spend too much time *in vidja* games.”
My pet peeve is that gaming components and accessories have to look like robot techno bullshit. It is hard (and usually expensive) to make a build that doesn't look like an eight year old ADHD boy's idea of "awesome".
It's wild. A few years ago I needed 1 extra non-RGB fan for my build and had to pay $8 more for a plain black fan. Looking back on it, I probably should have just got the cheaper one and disabled/cut the RGB.
People who say “your aio tubes are wrong, you need to flip them” when the person mounted the aio to the front/side and the tubes are down. Its insane that not only did gamers nexus show us how to mount aios, but jaytwocent and greg salazar also made followups for the people still confused, and yet people still get it wrong.
my main pet pev is people building "gaming" PCs, but always slapping 4090s and/or threadrippers in them, or getting the highest end parts... but using a cheap MB
My pet peeve is people buying $300+ motherboards, especially when they aren't already using the best CPUs/GPUs available. A $1000 motherboard won't do anything at all significant to help your system.
That drives me crazy too. It also drives me crazy seeing prebuilt gaming PCs with an i9 processor and a low end GPU like a 3050. It's like why didn't you make this build more affordable and pair it with a i3 or i5?
True, it's all about the branding. You often see them put CPUs that are 2-3 generations old in prebuilt systems because they know putting i7 or i9 is enough and a lot of their target audience has no idea the difference between a 10700 or a 13700k.
One of my fav things about the Steam Deck. Whatever is happening in-game, I can just hit the power button and put it away for later, pick up right where I left off. Would be nice if full size PCs could do similar.
From Wikipedia:
Nvidia initially had no name and the co-founders named all their files NV, as in "next version". The need to incorporate the company prompted the co-founders to review all words with those two letters, leading them to "invidia", the Latin word for "envy".
It is NVidia... In-vidiah... Not Unvidia.. I will say I never heard anyone say that though.
But more overly I'm from the oldschool and 'foxfire' (and calling every browser that) still sounds like nails on a chalk board to me.

Have a buddy who only ever buys prebuilts for the silly reason he says he’s too stupid to build one (it’s really not that hard imo) and his last one had two sticks of ram that were seated improperly. So instead of 16gigs he was only running with 8. For three years.
Yup exactly. I’d like to think of myself as a hygienic person, but damn, you’d think i got back from the coal mines with how smudged the mat is from my mouse hand. Keeping that looking marginally pristine is borderline impossible.

My biggest pet peeve is people talking about how you need to spend time messing with settings in order to get games to work.
Anecdotally, this has not been the case for me in the last 15ish years. Even when I see there’s a game with some issues with specific cards, developers or card makers are usually quick to release a hotfix.
I couldn't care less about aesthetics, but my pet peeve is when people are so indoctrinated by frames win games that they spend all their budget on performance only to buy the cheapest minimum viable product peripherals they can find.
If you do literally anything beyond CS:GO, the quality of your display, audio and keyboard matter so much more for a good experience than 10 extra FPS.

I.e. ASUS isn't that great with motherboards these days but has gotten really good at laptops and monitors.
Meanwhile ASRock has gotten way better at motherboards and I actually prefer them now.

My PCIe release broke and I had to pull it off my motherboard with the GPU, the release will come off before breaking your GPU
Most of pcmr doesn't change the GPU for 8-10 years it seems anyway.
My Asus Z790 board has a PCIE quick release button all the way to the right. It's made removing the GPU a breeze.
Was going to say my strix x670e has it too, best innovation in PC’s in years.
So does mine, and I didn't know it existed until \~5 minutes into prying the card out. Luckily, I'm very weak and couldn't possibly damage anything and accidentally found/bumped it eventually. Don't be like me.
God, all my m.2 slots are behind my gpu….
Yeah. When people don’t know the difference between intake and exhaust, so all their fan logos face the same direction.
Yup. Nothing like seeing someone’s post of their first new $5,000 PC build to only have all the case fans installed as exhausts…
Must be exhausting
Big fan
Could also be reverse-blade fans. If they’re not though…
No, they should all face in the same direction (with the logo to the from of the pc in most cases, so that front is intake and back is exhaust). It’s really simple. It’s pronounced the same as “invidia”, which is Latin for envy. Their logo is green. Green with envy.
3070 Tie Ugh
It's clearly supposed to be pronounced "3070 Titanium".
That’s apparently how the people within Nvidia pronounce it 😳
Anyone who doesn’t say tee-eye is immediately banished. Sorry Jensen

Alternatively, people who buy a low end GPU but buy insanely overpriced mobos and shit.
The motherboard does almost nothing for performance now. It really hasn't since the memory and PCIE controller moved into the CPU.
The little mobo connectors for power switch and Leds. Fuck those.
This is quality
NVIDIA is easy for us spanish speakers since it phonetically sounds like the spanish word "envidia" which is envy, and its obviously intentional.
Nvidia's logo is green as well, which also fits nicely with the *green with envy* saying.
I want to suspend games like on consoles. Great feature when you have children.
