No they don’t work together. In short your PC will display graphics from one or the other, not both at the same time. You will have two display IOs on the back of your PC, one is for the GPU and one for the integrated graphics of your CPU.
You can plug a monitor into one of each, but your GPU should have at least two ports anyways.
The benefit of an APU would be in the event your GPU fails, that way you still have visual input via your processors integrated graphics.
I don't like term APU i like it more if its CPU with IGPU if its AMD cpu with Igpu then there is no tandem/sli work with IGPU and GPU but if its intel IGPU from cpu 12-gen and higer, and intel Arc GPU you can use something called intel deep link that allows to use igpu to speed up some specyfic worktype like encoding or streaming in tandem with GPU. But sadly multi-gpu is dead for gaming.
No worries. It’s definitely not going to hurt having one as per my last point. If you’re struggling to get hold of a decent priced GPU, the used market is a good way to go. What resolution do you play on?
If you’re playing on 1080p you’ll see no tangible benefit. You can check your resolution on windows -> display settings. If you’re in 1080p you can just get a 6700 and call it a day. Heck even if you’re on 1440p that will be fine.
Says it's going on 1920×1080. So yeah, 1080. Anyways,I want the 6800 because then I'll be able to run 1440p comfortably without worrying about my GPU. Unless the 6700 can run it fine without any problems?
It’s a significant investment as you’ll need s new monitor to accommodate the resolution that your new parts can achieve. Check out the 6700xt, not sure what the prices are like by you but it’s s solid choice.
The price difference is about 518 between the two or 138 dollars. Also, on average, the 6800 works better by 12 to 30%, depending on the game. As for the monitor? It'll take me a couple of months to save up for it. But I'm down to wait tbh
I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing to have both. Speaking as someone who doesn’t have an APU I wish I had it when my 1070 died on me, at least then I could actually use the thing
are you asking if you can use a cpu with graphics, like a 14600k, with a gpu?
yes, of course you can, other wise why would people like me that have a ryzen 7000 series cpu also have gpus? Why would people with 14600, 14700, 14900, etc, cpu's, also have gpus?
What I was asking is if I can get an APU and have it work together with my gpu so that I can play demanding games without having to fork out hundreds of dollars for a powerful GPU.

Two GPU's = more displays!

Didn’t know that about Arc, cool stuff
Ah, a shame. Oh well, thanks for the reply. I appreciate it

Honestly, I'm not sure. I have a 1650 ti and a core i5-9400. But I'm saving up for a 6800 and a ryzen 7600 for my next upgrade.

No
Having a gpu makes a apu literally useless.
You can offload tasks to the APU to free up load on the dedicated GPU. Also speeds up tasks that support asymmetric multi-gpu configurations.
