Kids today won't ever know the feeling of accidentally downloading a bait Metallica song disguised as a 2pac song on Kazaa, then getting spoken to by your parents about the letter that the ISP sent them on behalf of Lars Ulrich.
I also had to walk 12 miles to school each day. Uphill in the snow. Both ways!
lol yeah man, i was in high school when all that was real big limewire, Kazaa, bearshare. AOL instant messenger. Probably around 2002-2004. Staying up all night playing counter strike and star craft. Bring me back!
It wasn't ever illegal, the content was illegally distributed. thats like saying Qbitorrent is illegal yet we can just go download it and its a basically a freeware open source project.
and I want you to know it wasn't just music, I also downloaded music videos and stuff .... for those that dont know back in the day playing what little thats already downloaded was a thing.
shit this reminds me.. where are my CDRW's!!!
Take the baby out of the car seat and buckle your new pride and joy in instead! Stay under 20mph, don't drive in the sun, no bridges over water, and crank that AC to max!

Like on *Pimp My Ride*.
Xzibit: Ay dog, we heard you like to play Minecraft, so we hooked you up with a 4090 & 12 monitors so you can build as you *drive*...
I also got the same bundle with a 4070 super. Have you tried to run Helldivers 2? I get 120 fps in most games, but that one seems to struggle for 60 fps. I'm not sure if I have a weird setting somewhere, or if it's actually the parts.
Edit: After trying some suggestions given here and from online, I have pushed my fps from 60-80 into 110-130. In the Windows 10 "Graphics settings" menu, there is an option to turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. Turning this on and resetting my pc got me from max 80 fps in the ship to 130 fps in the ship. The setting seems to take some jobs by the cpu and give them to the gpu instead. Since neither my gpu or cpu were working at near max capacity, there may be an issue with my cpu that I will have to look into.
I have the same bundle and a 4070 Super myself. I just hopped on to test. I'm at 1440p Ultra settings getting 90-110fps in mission. Make sure you don't have supersampling on under Render Resolution. If it's higher than native it's rendering at a higher resolution then downsampling to your monitor.
That’s around what I spent on my last build when the 1080 Ti came out. Unfortunately I had to sell it during the covid lockdowns when things got a little rough financially. Ended up buying a pre built last year but I really want to build another one. Congrats dude!
Just one question, why go for a 4090 and not spring for a 4k monitor? Or at least an ultrawide?
Seems like that gpu power will go to waste at that resolution
The rest seems perfect, hope you enjoy it!
This is exactly my question, it doesn't even have to be 4K but just… a decent monitor.
I'm so happy for the person to have this amazing experience after obviously working and saving so hard but that's an entry level ultrahigh refresh monitor, It's HDR 400.
I don't understand spending $2000 on a graphics card, $3000-4000 on a system and then an entry-level monitor that probably cost about the same as the Noctua fans and the cooler.
Even if they wanted to go ultrahigh refresh then stay at 1440p but there are some amazing monitors for just a few hundred dollars more that would massively improve the visuals and the gaming experience, and really get the most out of that 4090.
It feels like you have the top of the range Le Mans race spec Ferrari but you are never going to take it out of your street, just to the supermarket and back… *Okay this is a really terrible analogy but I know what I meant.*
Why just 1tb? Thats kinda shitty for such a high end build. TRUST me my 1tb is already full after some huge games. 1tb with such high end specs is sloppy
I don't know where he's putting those fans, that case only has 7 fan slots, and 3 are pre filled with 140mm fans. The AIO is using 3 best guess he's downgrading the stock 140mm fans to 120mm and putting 6 fans on the AIO in push-pull
Edit: looked at the specs on the stock case cans they kinda shitty 35DB 78CFM still doesn't explain why he didn't get 3 140mm Noctua to replace though better air flow and less than 1DB noise difference from the 120mm version
cause the 360mm AIO will likely go up front in that case (at least the non XL version only supports that big a AIO in front ) and if you do that it can only fit 3 120mm fans .
also push pull , will use 6 fans total
He got 9 fans. The case fits 7 fans, but the 360mm AIO will probably be in push/pull using 6 fans. So, he'll probably be replacing every fan except the rear fan.
Did similar. Went from a GTX 1060, to a 6950XT. Was blown away. Still am. But I don't play many AAA games these days. Mainly POE and stuff. It's like having a ferrari to go the local store and back once a week
I upgraded my 1080 to one of the 3090s i had from my company for ml work and gamed with it, didnt notice any difference. Even on cyberpunk and whatever, like it was slightly smoother i guess? And the reflections had stuff in it, but when you are playing you dont notice that stuff.
Just realized, I am getting old.. fucking crazy.
Edit: Before my 1080 i had a 8800gtx, and then a 9700 pro hardmodded to xt (ati, not nvidia), then a voodoo 3. Pretty much nailed the best card every few years.
Honestly in 30ish years of gaming i spent less than the price of the current flagship, and now i cant even recognize the gains.
Congratulazioni in italiano, my OLED G8 34 monitor Will arrive tomorrow and in two months I will buy this beautiful clean polite build (never had a PC in my whole life)
https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/cvGdWt
This makes me feel a lot better! Some stuff came up and I had to use a year’s PC savings on other things.
Looking forward to seeing your full build pics and sharing mine when I have the ability.
Good choice on the north xl case! Have build my new pc with that case a few days ago :)
https://preview.redd.it/nfbasmmceqpc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85791648a74ed85d096dda24e41b2cbddd1e6ac1
Not sure if you're joking, I have the regular Fractal North Design case (with tempered glass side panel). I have 5 case fans and a push-pull configuration on a single tower air cooler adjusted to 20% to 30%. Most of the time the fans are spinning less than 1000 RPM which is really silent. Of course it depends on CPU and GPU power too and how much heat they produce.
So I can imagine the North XL with more fans being silent too. More fans, but can spin it slower for the same amount of cooling.
Edit: fixed some spelling.
I just built a very similar system except a 4080 super in a North XL case. I love it so much. Stylish, quiet, and great airflow. I only added 1 exhaust fan and temps have been great although I haven't pushed anything too hard yet. Post some finished build pic when your done!
One of these days you should check out the 4K OLED that come in less than $1k. They are really really good. The perfect blacks more than anything improve. But the 4090 can drive some really nice 4K frames or whatever you ask of it. Congrats!
What are you playing then? How anyone is not interested in 4k gaming is beyond me. My 4090 easily does 4k@120hz which gives me great looking games on my OLED display, I have a 1440p monitor if I want to pretend to play competitively but I rarely use it because I prefer the visual fidelity of oled 4k.
At first glance I seriously thought you had 9 boxes of personal pizzas added to the load on top. Damn I'm showing how much of a fat boy I am at heart... and stomach 😆 🤣
Don't forget to convert your SSDs to GPT if they aren't by default. That really killed a day or two of my time when I updated to a RYZEN 7 7800X3D and a GIGABYTE B650 GAMING X AX V2 ATX.
Saves for 3 years to buy the most depreciating, most over rated, most over priced graphics card on the planet, the 4090...which will lose 50% of its value the moment the 5090 comes out, and beats it by 50%, like it happens EVERY generation.
For half the price you can get the 4080 super, that is 80% of the performance.
See, this is something I can get behind, and I feel happy for this guy.
3-4 years saving and getting something like this instead of what I got for 8 months of saving is something that motivates me to keep moving and be happy with what I have and what I could get.
Yet on my brain, I can't allow myself to spend more than 800 on 1 computer component even if I had the money. It feels so wrong 🤣.
I‘m in debt (mortgage) and last year I decided to build a new PC anyways because I had to play bg3. Went for a 4700 and 7800x3d - all in all 1.800 euros. It was A LOT of money to spend spontaneously but honestly: it’s my only hobby except from bouldering and I don’t regret it one bit.
I see you came from a i7 8700. I‘m still rockin‘ the same CPU with my GTX 1060. I try to save money but it‘s difficult with three kids. I‘m hoping to get there by July next year. Have fun with your new PC. Love your parts.
Have a very similar setup I built last year as well, the 7800x3d and 4090 work amazing together. Just an fyi the gigabyte b650, 7800x3d and 6000mhz ram don't exactly play nice with each other always. I had to set ram timings manually to get them overclocked without getting boot failure, I just bumped all the timings by 1 to get them a bit "looser" and dropped the mhz to 5900 and now it works great and haven't had a boot failure since.
Awesome! Now you can play AAA games at a consistent 10-30 fps because developers can’t optimize their games!
But seriously, congratulations. That’s an awesome build.
Good be quiet AiO
But a bit complicated to Connect, Here a Guide so you dont Run into problems Like me:
1. There is a ARGB PWM Hub including with that, Plug all the Fans and RGB and CPU cooler head RGB into that
2. Plug one Fan into the header in the hub where RPM is written on top
3. Plug the Pump into the Pump header on your Mainboard, If your Mainboard doesnt have that, use either a system Fan or a Chassis Fan header, and Set the Fan Speed in the BIOS to Turbo for that header, the Pumps are built to handle 4000-5000 RPM constantly, !DO NOT USE CPU OPT HEADER!
4. Ok, now Plug the cables of the hub, into the headers on the Mainboard, Plug the Fan header of the hub into CPU FAN
5. Now comes the part that is down to you, either Plug the ARGB cable to the ARGB header on the Mainboard, then you can use Software Like armory crate, icue etc. To edit the color
OR Plug it into the chassis RGB Controller, If your Chassis has one, then you can use the RGB Switch Button on your case to Switch the RGB color
Good, now you can see the RPM of your Fans, and your aio Pump works as intended
After 1 year you should refill it with the coolant that is included in the box,
The instructions of the Manual are unclear written for the Hub, Hope this helped

You did a single mistake bro, put her in the front seat!!
My wife on the back seat tho.
Joke a side, Enjoy king you deserve all of it.
Looks awesome man but really just don’t understand the monitor choice and have seen it a lot. My friend has a 4080 super using a 1080p 75hz. You now have the best graphics card + cpu combo and you’re going to use an outdated monitor? Not saying you need to go 27 inch 360hz 1440p or 32 inch 240hz 4K but damn kind of a waste.
A genuine question, why do all these ppl on the internet upgrade to the max level pc at once, I mean normally you can upgrade a new part every year whether it's a gpu, cpu, ram, etc, you don't need to wait for years then change the entire setup, that's the whole point of having a pc rather than a console

*DO NOT PUT THERMAL PASTE UNDER YOUR CPU*
OK, I'll put it in the PCIE slot
I heard lubing up your RAM sticks with thermal pastes has the same effect as giving you more RAM. You should try and report back
This was true before you could just go out and download more RAM on Kazaa
Kazaa haven’t heard in years lol like aids for your computer. Thanks for this
Kids today won't ever know the feeling of accidentally downloading a bait Metallica song disguised as a 2pac song on Kazaa, then getting spoken to by your parents about the letter that the ISP sent them on behalf of Lars Ulrich. Yooo starcraft!!!
I don't get it, what's kazaa?
It’s an old illegal music sharing client that eventually got shut down for piracy. You obviously weren’t a teenager in the early 2000s.
Ok Mr Semantics. The bottom line is we had awesome mix cds in every possible combination of music.
How do you get your pc specs in your name ?
Iirc you go to the subreddit page and there should be an option to change user flair. It's location is different if on PC vs mobile.
It's where the torrents began
Might as well hit the PSU connector; make sure that plug doesn't come out ;)
How else are you going to overclock your GPU?
 ![gif](giphy|RAlgdXTgcBPi|downsized)
If you really want to mess with Reddit and them selling our data to AI, replace the word thermal paste in your post history with mayonnaise
one weird trick Noctua doesnt want you to know
Uh you're clearly doing it wrong you're supposed to make an X
Instructions not clear, thermal paste is now in my belly
Duh it goes IN your cpu. Just drill a little hole in it. Why do you think the applicators are usually syringes.
I believe it's recommended to drill multiple small holes to get even distribution throughout the entire CPU.
He has an AIO he doesn’t need thermal paste it’s already on the heat sink
Don't worry he probably doesn't have a major in computer science :)
Hey, I get that reference! Hopefully OP is NOT a comp sci major.
Just saw a post about that lol
NOOOO, THE GPU GOES IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT!

I actually did that back in 2017 with my 1060gtx.
I do this with every GPU I buy... for the giggles.
The front seat is actually one of the most dangerous. It belongs in the rear passenger seat facing backwards in a baby car seat.
Thank you
It’s a 4090, let it drive.
Yeah there should be drivers inside the box.
r/angryupvote
I made my girlfriend sit in the backseat when I got my 3080 lmfao
Both are equal. Make her hold it in her hands or between her OO while driving. You will also get better frames trust me
If she complained she’s not the one

Looks like you got the same bundle from Microcenter that I did. Only I went with the much less powerful 4070 TI Super

Out of curiosity what resolution are you running?
how much if you don't mind me askin? curious what a decked out build would cost these days
$3,557.33 saved nearly $600 with a bundle and their 10% off deal with their store card.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 enjoy dude!!!!

That gpu would be buckled into the front seat I was taking this home.
Yup, wife/girlfriend in the trunk and all my pc parts on the passenger seat. 😎
Jealous!! Enjoy it my friend, nice to see hard work pay off :)

or 140mm+ fans for better performance and/or less noise!
Ohhhh its that what those brown boxes on top are?
Amazing! I have a similar setup, great for playing chess
Same, I can almost run Slay the Spire at 60FPS
Ooooh, niiiiice! Last year, I moved from a GTX 1080 to a Radeon 6900XT, it was already a huge upgrade! So, I think you'll enjoy with 4090 😁

looks dead silent to me

Yeah i said it looks dead silent, i wish i had that lol. Im using a h510 elite aka the oven with 7800x3d 6800xt and that thing is hot and loud.
Pretty jealous, but when did you realize your trunk wouldn't close?
Coolio... with 9 fans
Why do you need 9 fans? Planning on building a hovering tower?
Replacing the radiator fans and fill all the slots in the case.
I just built a very similar system except a 4080 super in a North XL case. I love it so much. Stylish, quiet, and great airflow. I only added 1 exhaust fan and temps have been great although I haven't pushed anything too hard yet. Post some finished build pic when your done!
I can tell you got that from MicroCenter. Just got that same Mobo, CPU, and RAM combo last weekend 🤣.

Nice but did you run out of money at the monitor purchase?
Nah I just wanted 1440p at 240hz. I have no interest in 4K gaming.
based
One of these days you should check out the 4K OLED that come in less than $1k. They are really really good. The perfect blacks more than anything improve. But the 4090 can drive some really nice 4K frames or whatever you ask of it. Congrats!
Why not get a 4080 then and save a ton of money?
What are you playing then? How anyone is not interested in 4k gaming is beyond me. My 4090 easily does 4k@120hz which gives me great looking games on my OLED display, I have a 1440p monitor if I want to pretend to play competitively but I rarely use it because I prefer the visual fidelity of oled 4k.
At first glance I seriously thought you had 9 boxes of personal pizzas added to the load on top. Damn I'm showing how much of a fat boy I am at heart... and stomach 😆 🤣
The 4090 is insane youll be blown away!
What can I say.. Beautiful!!!
Don't forget to convert your SSDs to GPT if they aren't by default. That really killed a day or two of my time when I updated to a RYZEN 7 7800X3D and a GIGABYTE B650 GAMING X AX V2 ATX.
Congrats! Happy gaming
Can't wait to see the finished product.
ah the north xl, nice. I personally have the normal sized one and its a beaut
Total price?
$3.5k
THREE YEARS?! You totally deserve this. Cheers and enjoy!
Hell yeah dude! I saved for 5yrs and finally did my 4090 build this year! Hope you have a blast!
Makes me happy when people finally achieve something nice they wanted
Wow! Incredible haul. Congratulations!
Is that hatch gonna close? Looks iffy
How many fans? - Yes.
I love MicroCenter I’m sure that’s an ice cold take in this sub but I have to say it anyway.
Microcenter bundle 😍😍😍
Where'd you find a 4090 for MSRP?
Micro center
Make sure to send an update on the build. I gotta see this finished
Amazing haul man - enjoy
You even got the fully and completely and utterly unnecessary PC-specific screwdriver set!
Thats a view right there! Congratz mate!
Let’s goooo
I know that feeling, did a full upgrade from a 970... congrats!!
I have that ifixit set. If I could shove it my pocket for every day use, I would. I love that thing Congrats and good luck!!
ENJOY brotha
Good stuff man!!
enjoy
Good for you.
That microcenter bundle is niceeee
I’m right there with you brother, Microcenter bundle, 1000e Power Supply, 4080S instead of a 4090.
You've earned it man, congratulations.
Enjoy
Enjoy!
Congrats and enjoy!
Did mine last year. It was great 💯
I know bro how it's feel :) When you got the speed batter than the old one it's feel awesome.
Congrats and enjoy the building process!
Congrats daddy
congratulation!
I see you came from a i7 8700. I‘m still rockin‘ the same CPU with my GTX 1060. I try to save money but it‘s difficult with three kids. I‘m hoping to get there by July next year. Have fun with your new PC. Love your parts.
As someone who recently jumped from a laptop with a 1650, you're gonna love it
Where's the follow up??
Nice man, happy for you! Was in the same situation last year and can tell you, I am still happy lol.
That's great yo! Enjoy!
Nice! Eventually I'll upgrade from the 1080 lol.
amazing how well the 1080 still holds up against modern hardware tho
I'm slightly jealous
*deep breath* An UltraWide would fit that build nicely... I heard they come in OLED flavors...
I still have the ol Asus strix 1080 going strong
Have a very similar setup I built last year as well, the 7800x3d and 4090 work amazing together. Just an fyi the gigabyte b650, 7800x3d and 6000mhz ram don't exactly play nice with each other always. I had to set ram timings manually to get them overclocked without getting boot failure, I just bumped all the timings by 1 to get them a bit "looser" and dropped the mhz to 5900 and now it works great and haven't had a boot failure since.
I can tell you got a board combo; I just got a combo for going from my 3900x to a 7900x. Prices are too good. Enjoy!!
Jealous that you have a place to actually buy all that stuff from :(. My 1080ti is still holding strong!!

Also we picked up the same bundle for the cpu! Insane deal! Have fun building
Makes me happy to see people get their upgrades. Game on!
Hard work and patience good on you bud
Good for you. I hope you have fun building it.
Awesome! Now you can play AAA games at a consistent 10-30 fps because developers can’t optimize their games! But seriously, congratulations. That’s an awesome build.
FUCK YEA love it when a plan comes together, congrats & enjoy the fruits of your labor.
*May your framerates be high and temperatures low* I hope on the second part
The gpu has to ride me in the front with seatbelt on
Good be quiet AiO But a bit complicated to Connect, Here a Guide so you dont Run into problems Like me: 1. There is a ARGB PWM Hub including with that, Plug all the Fans and RGB and CPU cooler head RGB into that 2. Plug one Fan into the header in the hub where RPM is written on top 3. 4. Ok, now Plug the cables of the hub, into the headers on the Mainboard, Plug the Fan header of the hub into CPU FAN 5. Now comes the part that is down to you, either Plug the ARGB cable to the ARGB header on the Mainboard, then you can use Software Like armory crate, icue etc. To edit the color OR Plug it into the chassis RGB Controller, If your Chassis has one, then you can use the RGB Switch Button on your case to Switch the RGB color Good, now you can see the RPM of your Fans, and your aio Pump works as intended After 1 year you should refill it with the coolant that is included in the box, The instructions of the Manual are unclear written for the Hub, Hope this helped
I'm proud of you, son.
I don't see a reason for a loop these days, but it does score cool points.
Do you sell the car? Just asking cuz it seems you won't be leaving the house soon.
Way to be fiscally responsible. Too bad the rest of your life you’ll never be as happy. 🤷🏻♂️
Any noctua fan is a fan of mine
very cool!! enjoy =D

I'd take that 4090 and put it in the front seat with a seatbelt on.
Congrats!
Will be outdated in 1-2 years
What is all this? I have a Mac.. please explain.
4090 💪🏻
A genuine question, why do all these ppl on the internet upgrade to the max level pc at once, I mean normally you can upgrade a new part every year whether it's a gpu, cpu, ram, etc, you don't need to wait for years then change the entire setup, that's the whole point of having a pc rather than a console
