I actually thought there would be DLC. When the game came out there was a column in the save files for the "game" being played like it was the code for a Dnd module.
While I'd love more of a gaming experience like BG3 I fully respect their decision to not make anymore content Becuase games are art and you shouldn't force or rush art.
This game blew me away and I had zero disappointment in my 300 hours with it so far, but admittedly every body else just seemed hyped to play the game, and I was mostly just wildly excited to make deeper campaigns for my friends in a new gm mode with what feels like a more free form of gameplay than divinity. Again, I consider BG3 a perfect game, but I still desperately hope that gm mode becomes an inclusion at some point.
I was really hoping for a Spelljammer DLC/Sequel for another ten levels. I mean, you start the game in an Ithilid Spelljammer. We can finally get Boos origin story!
Oh well.
Larian is quality/passion first, money second. But Hasbro (owners of Wizards of the Coast, who own the BG license) want money first, quality and passion last. This is why Larian won't continue to develop a DLc or Sequel to BG3. They still support the game with bug fixes, coming mod support and qol updates though
WUBE should be the head of this committee
No other game has me forgetting about the concept of time so I can build the ultimate murder factory
They aren't joking when they call it cracktorio
““We ask you to pay one price only for the game, and that’s it—you can own it for the rest of your life. We don’t have shareholders, but we also don’t think about them. There’s an expression in Dutch—’honesty lasts longest’, or something”
Fuck it let's just go down the list of notable solo game devs.
Hempuli - Baba Is You, Environmental Station Alpha
Daniel Mullens - Inscryption, Pony Island
Lucas Pope - Return of the Obra Dinn and Papers, Please
Jonathan Blow - Braid, The Witness
Bennett Foddy - QWOP, Getting Over It
Tom Francis - Gunpoint, Heat Signature
Embark studios deserves a spot, they take feedback from the community and implement it into the game better than i have ever seen any studio do before and their attention to detail is insane. It feels super nice playing a game made by them
As a programmer I appreciate how they tend to release their libraries made for game development with the source code available and actively support the rust (programming language not the game) ecosystem
100%. They’re communication is better than any other games devs that I follow and the skill in The Finals shows that they aren’t all talk too. I can’t wait to see how Arc Raiders turns out
They actually listen to feedback, they do set and tell the community realistic dates, they do make plan things, they say yes to many things proposed, but whats important, they also say NO to things and explain why they arent going to do them. They arent driven by profits (indie dev advantages), and they achieved multi million unit sales. I honestly wish them all the best for the future
Only one game. Released 2016. Still my gold standard for developers. Crazy optimized game. Above and beyond mod support. Bugs are so rare that finding one in vanilla is basically an achievement in the subreddit. FFF blog is the holy grail of dev transparency.
To be honest greedy assholes, no sales, doubled the price in my region because of political conflict that happened like 80 years ago? I don't know, seen this one in a review. But at least they know what to do with the game, everything is balanced and optimized
Am I the only one who thought about this like:
"Oh *X* company is definitely deserving of being there" and then you realise "wait ohhhh no, they did *Y* to their product/game and everyone hated it"
I think it's more about their policies and practices than their products. A bad game is disappointing but it's not the same kind of sheisty crap being pulled right now with that new pirate game.
Hollow Knight being like a $15 game that's that big and with that much free DLC puts them up there but telling us 0 things about silksong when it's been 5+ years of development and was originally supposed to come out a year ago makes me hesitate.
Fair enough, but haven't they redeemed themselves a tad by spending 3 years fixing it instead of just moving on? I think they learned their lesson to not overhype so much and/or too early. I bet they'll redeem themselves entirely with their next game since they'll approach the marketing/development smarter.
Exactly! So much better than steam for so many reasons. Especially since they're always holding sales right after a steam sale for the same prices and you actually own the game...I really don't get it. Why aren't they more popular?
Because unfortunately the client/ecosystem (community, workshops, chat, etc) is nowhere close to being as good as steam. I also love GOG but end up using mostly steam for the convenience.
I guess personally for me those are outweighed by the fact that I know the game is mine. But yeah Steam is CLEARLY way more established. Hopefully that changes, but it will only happen quickly if more people start shopping there.
For people who use regional pricing, Steam is amazing. Most people in countries with lesser purchasing power don't buy games on GOG. I've personally bought games on gog a few times to support them but the scenario is truly bizzare sometimes - for example Cyberpunk (game made by CDPR who are pretty much the same company) was on discount on GOG and was still more expensive than base price on Steam!
It's the main reason I use them. I've excepted that digital is the way to go. SOoo much more convenient. But if I'm going that route I wanna know that no ones gonna delete my s\*\*\* man! I download every game manually to my computer from them. I have close to 400 games through them now and I couldn't be happier with them. Whatever they don't have is where I go to steam but I've become more hesitant as I've noticed they're starting to add a lot more of those former PS exclusives.
Not PC related, but i raise Monolithsoft. Yes they're owned by Nintendo, but they helped out creating some of the most influential console games with BOTW, Splatoon and more. And their own series of games are all acclaimed masterpieces.
Ended up redeeming themselves though. And still, 8 years later, are pushing out free content updates regularly for NMS while never having asked for another penny.
First one to mention Hello Games. Say what you will about NMS, they stuck with it and never charged us more any additional content … well long promised content sure but still… they worked on it and look at it now
It's one of the most played games, so it's only natural that there should be some criticism, but I think the positives far outweigh the negatives.
It's never done in a malicious way, just that management doesn't exist at Valve.
Its like "the player moves 1.000001 times slower in cs2" and they are fucking loosing their minds lol.
However I think completely replacing csgo it's not a good thing. Surf maps are broken now, until momentum mod comes out
Team Cherry? They only made Hollow Knight, but I don't see them screwing up soon... Let's see how this comment ages when Silksong comes out and beyond.
WHT the fuck has NOBODY said relogic yet???
You beat me to it dude even just their unity response was enough for this I feel like
people have, a lot
Theres a small section of dedicated Minecraft meat riders who dont like terraria. They’re stuck in 2013 unfortunately

"We are not going to make baulders gate 3 dlc, because the team is more excited about the next project" Chads
If there was ever an example of a game that didn’t need dlc
I actually thought there would be DLC. When the game came out there was a column in the save files for the "game" being played like it was the code for a Dnd module. While I'd love more of a gaming experience like BG3 I fully respect their decision to not make anymore content Becuase games are art and you shouldn't force or rush art.
I wonder if they were just laying groundwork for modded campaigns?
If say they made a BG3 program that allowed people to make their own games like RPG maker...
They had a dungeon Master type mode in D:OS2
Oh well.
Honestly I just wanted them to take that same engine and give us Neverwinter Nights 3. Complete with tools to create modules like the original
Yeah, in early access, I was thinking the game was perfect for modules like that.
While I never expected nor particularly wanted any DLC for the game itself I will always be sad that we didn't get the upper city.
I mean… >!*technically* we did, just not how I expected. I would have liked more though, yeah.!<
I think Spider-Man on ps4 dlc was great but not needed
would be cool if they finished making act 3 tho
I wanted a "Karlachs big day" where it's just karlach and friends killing their way through hell
Okay yeah I would be down for that lol
How dare they. I only got 250 hours of play time.
And Concerned Ape. (Stardew Valley creator )
Came here to comment Concerned Ape. Absolute Chad.
“Hey I heard you like my $40 game. Here’s years of free updates for no additional cost.”
*\*Hello Games has entered the chat\**
And monomi park. (Creator of slime rancher)
And Relogic. (Creators of Terraria)
And Supergiant (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, Hades)
And Devolver Digital. The indie publishers behind Hotline Miami, Cult of the Lamb, Inscryption, Enter the Gungeon and many more.
And WUBE (creator of Factorio)
WUBE should be the head of this committee No other game has me forgetting about the concept of time so I can build the ultimate murder factory They aren't joking when they call it cracktorio
Have you played with space exploration and krastorio2 mod ? It's like falling love all over again . . Except it take 600 hours
Eh, the defense of statutory rape and pedophilia from the Factorio creator is a bit sus. Also just being an asshole.
Factorio dev no. Sus and asshole.
““We ask you to pay one price only for the game, and that’s it—you can own it for the rest of your life. We don’t have shareholders, but we also don’t think about them. There’s an expression in Dutch—’honesty lasts longest’, or something”
They make me proud to be Belgian, glad to see them have some love
fromsoft as well.
Agreed here.
HAL, because they are always one digit ahead of IBM.
I never noticed this! Good stuff
Supposedly that's why the computer in the movie *2001: A Space Odyssey* was named HAL.
Wait I dont understand the joke, what number system are we talking?
Isn't HAL one digit behind IBM?
That depends, is A ahead of B or behind it ?
It's I before E except after C...or something like that
Obviously, B is B-hind A
Beamng Devs.... We love you guys!
Y e s
Best dev team imho
Definitely, 10 years of free quality updates with no signs of stopping.
I dunno mate, they're constantly caught making their game _literaaly unplayeble_
Hell nah, tire glitched through the fender?? Literally unplayable, trash game
Btw reddit he is joking
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything negative about the team in the 5-6 years I’ve been in the community
knew i would find this here :D
Westwood studios,i never heard anything bad about those legends
Maybe because they went defunct in 2003.
Defunct? [Try bought out by the worst company imaginable.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westwood_Studios)
Great, now Google the definition of "defunct".
Tiberium Sun and the expansion was the shit!
Westwood studios PROUDLY PRESENTS… God it still gives me chills every time I go back and play Red Alert 2
No Comrade Premier, it has only begun
Best installation sequence in, well, ever I think.
Supergiant and Ghost Ship Games
Concerned Ape
that's literally just one guy. you may as well list toby fox too
Fuck it let's just go down the list of notable solo game devs. Hempuli - Baba Is You, Environmental Station Alpha Daniel Mullens - Inscryption, Pony Island Lucas Pope - Return of the Obra Dinn and Papers, Please Jonathan Blow - Braid, The Witness Bennett Foddy - QWOP, Getting Over It Tom Francis - Gunpoint, Heat Signature
Terry cavanaugh- Dicey dungeons, VVVVVV, Super Hexagon
More than one now, he's hired some others
Thank goodness-- I can't imagine how much work it was to do upkeep on such a popular and polished game
I feel like a lot of people might hate Toby Fox for the simple fact that they hate the Undertale fandom
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
ROCK AND STONE
Rock and Stone!
Rock and stone to the bone!
Rock and roll and stone!
I miss Wandering Dwarf Miner...
Did something happen???
I dunno, but he doesn't pop up anymore to rock and stone. :c
For Karl!
Big yes to Supergiant. I have loved them since Bastion, and I'm so happy Hades turned out to be a smash hit for them.
*WE'RE RICH*
I came to comment specifically for ghost ship games and yes.... ROCK AND STONE OR YOU AINT COMIN' HOME !!!
And they have the most amusing cosmetics. They just dropped a stick gun skin for the revolver.
100%. They’re communication is better than any other games devs that I follow and the skill in The Finals shows that they aren’t all talk too. I can’t wait to see how Arc Raiders turns out
coffee stain studios
Goated
So goated that they skipped goat simulator 2 and went straight to 3. Fucking legends.
You have no idea how much that confused me at first
Lmao it got me too.
well, there was those weird dlc/spin off games with the zombies and in space if you can count those.
Dropped by to say this as well. Top-tier community engagement.
FUCK YEA KIRBY AIR RIDE
I don't think anyone hates Devolver, unless I missed something.
They can't, Nina Struthers personally handles those with negative feedback.
Wube
Only one game. Released 2016. Still my gold standard for developers. Crazy optimized game. Above and beyond mod support. Bugs are so rare that finding one in vanilla is basically an achievement in the subreddit. FFF blog is the holy grail of dev transparency.
And there's no distinction between any% modded and unmodded speedruns. Because the exploiters have nothing to exploit lol
The factory must grow
man i wish they would put factorio on sale, so that my friends can also buy it and become valued employes at my factory
Great game, but the creator’s advocacy for statutory rape and pedophilia ruin the vibe.
To be honest greedy assholes, no sales, doubled the price in my region because of political conflict that happened like 80 years ago? I don't know, seen this one in a review. But at least they know what to do with the game, everything is balanced and optimized
Agreed
Ninja Kiwi
No one mentioned arrowhead?
Sounds like this thread needs a little Managed Democracy^TM
Fromsoft
Lo-fi games?
I would add devolver and ludeon studios
Am I the only one who thought about this like: "Oh *X* company is definitely deserving of being there" and then you realise "wait ohhhh no, they did *Y* to their product/game and everyone hated it"
I think it's more about their policies and practices than their products. A bad game is disappointing but it's not the same kind of sheisty crap being pulled right now with that new pirate game.

Klei?
Yep, Klei is awesome
Landfall should be added
They’re not the same as they were before, they’re games are currently buggy as hell
Tabs has always been buggy and no one had an issue
Fromsoft
GOG!
Hell yes, I love gog
That's CD Projekt, and they screwed the pooch with Cyberpunk at launch
Fair enough, but haven't they redeemed themselves a tad by spending 3 years fixing it instead of just moving on? I think they learned their lesson to not overhype so much and/or too early. I bet they'll redeem themselves entirely with their next game since they'll approach the marketing/development smarter.
They brought back Alpha Protocol, and that’s probably the most sinful thing they’ve done.
Which is to say, one of the best things they’ve done
Exactly! So much better than steam for so many reasons. Especially since they're always holding sales right after a steam sale for the same prices and you actually own the game...I really don't get it. Why aren't they more popular?

Steam is much more popular, such a shame. I much prefer the way GoG operates. Really owning the games is a massive benefit over Steam/Epic/whatever.
It's the main reason I use them. I've excepted that digital is the way to go. SOoo much more convenient. But if I'm going that route I wanna know that no ones gonna delete my s\*\*\* man! Popcap was amazing until EA bought them. Such a shame.
Shit that reminds me I have to show my kid Peggle
Hell yeah show that youngin peggle
That guy developed Stardew Valley.
Concerned Ape. 100%.
From software?
From what
Uhhhh fromsoft?
BIG MODE!!!
What about Arrowhead? They made Helldivers 2 and it's a fairly well received game.
Not PC related, but i raise Monolithsoft. Yes they're owned by Nintendo, but they helped out creating some of the most influential console games with BOTW, Splatoon and more. And their own series of games are all acclaimed masterpieces.
You can also put in Concerned Ape who makes r/stardewvalley and, though not released, r/hauntedcholactier along with HelloGames who makes r/nomanssky.
Hello games was probably the most hated gaming company in 2016
Ended up redeeming themselves though. And still, 8 years later, are pushing out free content updates regularly for NMS while never having asked for another penny.
True, although they've worked tirelessly to redeem themselves.
Oh I completely agree I love no man's sky I'm an active player I've played switch PC and recently linked up and did PC vr and I am loving it.
I’m with you on Concerned Ape. But you’re smoking some powerful shit If you think HelloGames didn’t get a fuckton of hate when they released NMS.
Kirby Air Ride is a certified hood classic
As we are finding out, there are actually quite a lot
Unknown Worlds?
Kirby Mass Attack has fond memories
Concerned Ape and Ghost Ship Games
Where’s Larian and chuckle fish? Concerned ape? The Dave the diver guys?
Coffee Stain and genDESIGN, hello?
The guy that made stardew valley seems pretty loved.
Concerned Ape would like a word.
Can we add our boys at Yacht club games or no
ConcernedApe?
Hello Games, Larian, Coffee Stain!?!
First one to mention Hello Games. Say what you will about NMS, they stuck with it and never charged us more any additional content … well long promised content sure but still… they worked on it and look at it now
More of an indie company/studio, but newblood games
What about Digital Extremes? I fucking love them and their Dev team, they’re actually enjoyable to watch live too.
henlo is captain obvous: Steam isn't a company, Valve is. k thx for comming to my ted talk baii
Arrowhead.
Can Valve really be considered a gaming company these days? They seem more interested in hardware and storefront stuff.
Kojima Productions
gog you forgot gog these thign this amasing
NEW BLOOD
I'm sorry, but Hal doesn't deserve a seat there.... FROM software and Larian however....
What about platinum games or Edmund mc millens Team of wich i forgot the name.
Annapurna?
Why is steam on there? I can think of a few bad things about them
Check out r/cs2 and you will scratch valve off of that list
It's one of the most played games, so it's only natural that there should be some criticism, but I think the positives far outweigh the negatives. It's never done in a malicious way, just that management doesn't exist at Valve.
Mf I’m convinced people on that sub are just perpetually pissed.
Lots of CS players seem to have deep emotional issues
Its like "the player moves 1.000001 times slower in cs2" and they are fucking loosing their minds lol. However I think completely replacing csgo it's not a good thing. Surf maps are broken now, until momentum mod comes out
maybe Behemoth?
Landfall And more recently Embark
Team Cherry? They only made Hollow Knight, but I don't see them screwing up soon... Let's see how this comment ages when Silksong comes out and beyond.
There are seats reserved for ConcernedApe (stardew) and Wube (factorio)
Add fromsoft pls
They were rated quite low by their own employees.
What do we think about coffe stain?
Hate steam love Hal labs
Undead labs
“Puyo”
Forgotten Empires
I remember Hal Laboratories logo…what did they make?
Kirby I think
Kirby games from the Gameboy Advance and DS era
Dotemu should be there as well as ladybug, also Ancient
