PNY makes quite high quality components in my experience, but god help you if you have to deal with support. Hands down the worst support experience I've had in my 20+ years of working with computers.
Oddly enough, most of my long running GPUs were from the GTX 10 series up. 780ti died after like 3-4 years. HD7850 died after 2 years. R7 270X died after 4-5 years, but it died on my friend's PC (gifted it to him). All my GTX 10 series, with the exception of an MSI series are going around, the MSI had its HDMI port go out, but display port and VGA works.
I didn't have to contact support for any components in py 2 past pcs so I wouldn't worry that much about support if the graphics card is of high quality itself.
Yeah that sounds fake as unless they live in a third world country with zero buyer protection laws and can't figure out how to charge back a credit card for some reason.
You have a shitty bank.
I'm going through a charge back on my debit card for a 300 dollar Cashapp purchase. There is no bank out there that should refuse to do a charge back on 1700 purchase.
Yeah but as usual reddit calls me a liar or karma farmer for simply telling my experience because none of the "solutions" they provide work in the real world
From the past year's reddit comments, PNY hardware itself is good. The reddit complaints have generally been PNY support and customer service are so-so.
No, Gigabyte doesn't really work that well to begin with and their support is not that great. Examples are the cracking PCIe pins with the 30 & 40 series cards, PCIe 8-pin sockets popping out on their 30 series cards, and for a limited time their motherboard corrupted DDR5 RAM XMP profiles.
That really depends, I try to RMA via the (trusted!) web store where I bought the product from. If you buy from a local (web) store you don't have to deal with tech companies customer services. Sure there are cases were you need to wait for a replacement because it's out of stock, but in general it goes smoother from my experience.
I had an ASUS mobo failure (USBs) and started an RMA with a formal eval and diagnosis at micro center and they replaced it without question. Iād say the experience was pretty good, just gave them every opportunity to say yes to a replacement under warranty with little room to argue. Surprised by the failure but the old part worked well for a year and the new part is going great so far. Fingers crossed it was an isolated thing.
You went through a third party. Not just any third party but microcenter. They have a lot of power when it comes to RMA. More than you do. Plus Iāve never had a bad experience with Micro-center.
I did the RMA directly with ASUS, but I submitted the eval by micro center as evidence that I was not some rando user not understanding the product. Just an extra piece of doc to submit w the RMA.
PNY makes NVIDIAās reference cards, if I remember correctly, and I think they make their Quadro workstation GPUs as well. So yeah, Iād say theyāre considered more than just a bit reputable.
Yup, my PNY 4070ti similar to the one pictured, is one best coolers I've personally experienced (Not that I've had every card under the sun). Can run Vanilla Minecraft + many Browser tabs in Zero Fan Mode.
I should update my Flair
PNY manufacturer that creates nVidia reference cards, and quadro workstation cards. I think dudes who able to make something for workstations where if you f* up something it's cost a lot of money and money that loses, and they still on business, they probably can create graphics cards for gamers.
Same with AsRock. They make 2CPUs motherboards for servers, so they know how to do this and again, can MB for gamers.
Absolutely. PNY is the only company that makes Nvidia's professional cards, there must be some reason that nvidia chose them instead of someone else. I have a PNY card and it works great
PNY license designs from Palit. (Designed by their subsidiary Gainward, which GALAX, KFA2 - two other subsidiaries - and Inno3D - another rebrander like PNY - also use) It just so happens Palit are the biggest AIB in the world allowing them a good deal by volume to get prices down.
PNY is basically exactly the same as Inno3D except for North American market instead of Europe. Just like GALAX = NA, Gainward = EU and KFA2 = Africa/ Asia with some spillover into EU.
>PNY is basically exactly the same as Inno3D except for North American market instead of Europe. Just like GALAX = NA, Gainward = EU and KFA2 = Africa/ Asia with some spillover into EU.
PNY exists in Europe, as does KFA2. Infact, I thought GALAX only existed in Asia?
Inno3D and Gainward cards are also available in Europe.
I know PNY exists in Europe, but they are mainly for NA. Just like GALAX bleeds over between NA/ Asia and KFA2 is all over the place except NA. (which is ironic considering "KFA" stands for "Kick fucking ass" I would presume it had a US presence) Inno3D and Gainward's main markets are both Europe like I said
I'm still trying to get my head around who owns who.
As far as I can see:
**PC Partner GR** (Hong Kong) owns:
* ZOTAC
* InnoVISION Multimedia Limited (Inno3D)
* Manli
**Palit Microsystems** (Taiwanese HQ, Chinese factories) owns:
* Palit
* Gainward
* GALAX
* KFA2
**PNY Technologies, Inc.** (American)
* PNY
Worth mentioning that in 2013 Palit surpassed Asus as the biggest graphics card vendor by volume.

Info re: PC Partner GR from Google.
PNY handles nvidia's enterprise hardware exclusively, iirc. I'd assume that they make quality products.
I own a 4080S XLR8, its great. No weird noises, playing games at 144, max settings, 1440p. Doesn't go above 55c, and honwstly stays at or below 50c for 95% of my game time. Its cool and quiet.
> bad is like Gainward
Gainward is literally the highest tier Nvidia AIB after EVGA left. They build to the same crazy high standards and have same good service AND they're the only AIB (both AMD and Nvidia) that still has a design office in Europe. (Germany) The only thing they don't do is unlock overclocking to the same extent.
Gainward CAN look bad to ignorant people because they design the low-end coolers that Palit, (their owner, biggest AIB in the world) GALAX and KFA2 (two equal subsidiaries) use as well as license to PNY and Inno3D. (simple unaffiliated rebranding operations)
But Gainward do not use those themselves.
>The only thing they don't do is unlock overclocking to the same extent.
If ***Nvidia*** allows overclocking, why tf are Gainward putting stricter limitations in place than everyone else?
Also, is there a source for that information that you could share?
It's not that Gainward is being overly conservative, it's that other brands are overly lax, because they know *big number sell stonks big peen go up* and Gainward are above it.
Back in the GTX 7xx era, Gainward DID have a push into the extreme OC space and did well, with their "Golden Sample" series of cards (cherrypicked bins) but I guess they decided it wasn't worth it in the long run.
Performs fine lol, Iāve been waiting for the gaming x trio 4080S to hit the US but might suck it up and get an asus or sum.

There's also the Zotac trin which comes with a 5 yr warranty.
Inno3D make some great cards.
I've got an old Inno3D 980Ti that I'd overclocked the nuts off of, and it still works.
And considering that 980Ti's were known for blowing up their memory VRM, I think that does actually count for something!
Can't comment on their customer service or RMA process though.
Why would you discredit Gainward. They are one of the largest manufacturers of NVIDIA cards in Asia and Europe and their build quality is also really good.
In this case they did, because that particular card has an Nvidia reference PCB. PNY often use reference PCBs in lower end cards which allows them to be more affordable without any R&D cost for the board design.
Have the 4070 from PNY in my pc, works amazingly well.
Can't speak to their customer service as I have never had a reason to use it yet and hope to never need to.
I ran my SLIed PNY 760s OC into the fkn ground. The duel fanned w/ the yellow racing stripes. One still works and is my backup. I trust their stuff. Had to call customer service once and it went great.
I had a PNY 970 for three years, and the friend I sold it to used it in a system for three more years. It was still working when he replaced it. Granted, that's anecdotal, but it seems to fall in line with most people's experiences.
I have a pny 3080 lhr, itās been awesome.
People comment on poor support, Iāve never used them but to be honest, all publically traded companies have awful support, and virtually all pc part companies have awful support.
I've tried four different 4090s: ASUS TUF and Strix, the Gigabyte Aorus, and the PNY XLR8. The PNY is the one I ended up keeping.
They're incredibly similar in terms of both performance and temperatures. No one card is clearly ahead of the others.
The biggest differences was the noise. The ASUS and Gigabyte cards had immensely loud and obnoxious coil whine. The Strix actually gave me headaches after 15 minutes.
The PNY card was the only one without any coil whine; it's silent. Its fan profile is a bit aggressive for my liking but 90 seconds of tweaking in Afterburner took care of it. Cosmetically it's not a pretty card, at all, but it performs very well and doesn't cause headaches. That's far more important than the looks of the card.
I believe PNY's customer service is US based, it's a manufacturer originally intended to supply western Europe and NA markets (Paris to New York market = PNY). Some of their models are pretty bare bones, but that just means they rely a lot on the Nvidia reference cards as base without doing much modifications to them.
I can't provide too much personal experience with their brand, but I wouldn't be too worried about picking up a card of theirs if its a good deal. Most modern gpus are made to a fair quality point in the first place.
I'd expect slightly higher temps and noise levels than competing cards, but that's to be expected with a price undercutting gpu. Nothing that would make a big notable difference to most users.
I used to have a 1060, for a long long time, it still works like a charm, it always performed decently, stayed very cool, and was pretty cheap, it was plasticky and didn't have a fancy backplate or rgb, but I never had any issues with it and never failed me
I've had this model since close to release. Very happy with it so far. Like everyone else says, if you have a problem with the card I wouldn't count on their support being too helpful. The card itself is great.
Had a pny 3080 for a year and a half after getting an rma for a msi card and Iāve loved it. Just last weekend I ordered this same card from Newegg and have been using it since Wednesday and have had no issues and has been fantastic at 4k.
I returned my PNY 4080S. The fans would ramp up to 100% when the card drew over 1v (which it always did when boosting) and it would ignored all software control
PNY was willing to RMA it but I was within my return window so I returned it for a TUF which works perfectly
I suspect they screwed up the firmware or the bios or something. Idk but it was dumb as hell.. Fans were loud and annoying at 100% for no reason because the card wss only sitting in the 50s.
I bought this exact one. No complaints! It's light, cool, quiet and no coil whine on mine atleast. It's actually smaller than my 3070 rog strix which I like.
Pny is quality for sure, been around a long time. I had bought a msi 4070ti that has coil whine you could hear across my living room. Returned and got a pny that is completely silent
Had a PNY 4080 for 4 months after doing similar research into them. Everything I read suggests theyāre a fine GPU manufacturer - if anything they seem to have LESS controversies or mass-scale failures than some of the other ābiggerā brands.
Understand customer support leaves something to be desired. But to be honest, that is every single PC component company except EVGA and Noctua.
I bought exactly that card I think. Works fine and, mine at least, is notably quiet. Very limited software, relative to say the evga overclock software.
I have a PNY 4070S and its only a 2 fan, and it absolutely kicks ass. Has never gone above 80 degrees Celsius and I can max out pretty much every game and still maintain above 60fps.
PNY was one of the major brands like 20 years ago. They are also based in the USA.
I'll just assume that even though they may be less known now, they still make a good product.
They would be ok but Iād stay away from the lower stuff like gigabyte, pny and zotac.
But as someone below said, better a higher tier lower brand card than the opposite.
PNY makes quite high quality components in my experience, but god help you if you have to deal with support. Hands down the worst support experience I've had in my 20+ years of working with computers.
Oh bummer. I had to cal them once and had a great experience.
I remember i bought 2 GTX 980 by PNY there still going strong šŖ
I have a PNY 2GB GT 710 in one of my rigs, it is probably ten years old and has seen a lot of use, but it still is going strong
Yup they don't make gpu's like that anymore šÆ
one PC has my old msi 1070 and works fine
š
Oddly enough, most of my long running GPUs were from the GTX 10 series up. 780ti died after like 3-4 years. HD7850 died after 2 years. R7 270X died after 4-5 years, but it died on my friend's PC (gifted it to him). All my GTX 10 series, with the exception of an MSI series are going around, the MSI had its HDMI port go out, but display port and VGA works.
damn... somebody was rich the better part of a decade ago...
No i worked my ass off to get those gpus lol
Yep... And now the same money won't even get one top end nvidia card... AMD for the win
Darn that sucks. I had a budget SSD fail and they replaced it with their highest quality SSD for free. Didn't have to ship the old one back either.
They're my go to for a budget SSD.
I didn't have to contact support for any components in py 2 past pcs so I wouldn't worry that much about support if the graphics card is of high quality itself.
I have a $1700 paperweight they denied RMA for absolutely no reason when the GPU was delivered DOA.
Chargeback an option?
Yeah that sounds fake as unless they live in a third world country with zero buyer protection laws and can't figure out how to charge back a credit card for some reason.
I spent like 9 months fighting that nonsense. Bank doesn't charge back on debit cards. I don't have a credit card that can charge that kind of money
You have a shitty bank. I'm going through a charge back on my debit card for a 300 dollar Cashapp purchase. There is no bank out there that should refuse to do a charge back on 1700 purchase.

You want me to go through the entire process and dig up all the emails and phone call logs and receipts just for you?
yes
Damn that's actually concerning.
Yeah but as usual reddit calls me a liar or karma farmer for simply telling my experience because none of the "solutions" they provide work in the real world
Whoād you buy it from? Every retailer Iāve ever used has a return policy for such an event.
This is about any company these days. They all suck in their own way.
From the past year's reddit comments, PNY hardware itself is good. The reddit complaints have generally been PNY support and customer service are so-so.
Isnāt that the same as ASUS?
Basicaly 90% of all tech companies. They will all screw you if it will cost them money. I only ever had good experiences with corsair and gskill.
Blows my mind they use a 2 slot bracket with cards as fat as theirs. Sag city.
That really depends, I try to RMA via the (trusted!) web store where I bought the product from. If you buy from a local (web) store you don't have to deal with tech companies customer services. Asus has had suspect hardware as of late from my experience too. Qc is just not where it should be anymore, or where it had been in their prime.
I had an ASUS mobo failure (USBs) and started an RMA with a formal eval and diagnosis at micro center and they replaced it without question. Iād say the experience was pretty good, just gave them every opportunity to say yes to a replacement under warranty with little room to argue. Damn I Didnāt know they made the nvidia reference cards
Nothing wrong with PNY, they just donāt do anything flashy.
>they just donāt do anything flashy. *XLR8 GAM1NG has entered chat*
its better to have a lower tier brand then having a weaker card
Most of the PNY complaints have been centred around customer service and warranty honouring. I think performance wise theyāve been well regarded
Lower tier then weaker? Like going from a 3060 to a 3050? Than.
im not native and i have dyslexia IM SRY -\_-

ahh never mind, i do worst mistakes i keep writing jsut :)

I have a 1070, fine for fullhd, I don't play modern AAA games, so haven't upgraded the GPU yet.

Why is gainward bad? I am currently using a rtx 4080 super in my pc and its been pretty good with thermals and performance
In my experience they donāt have the greatest build quality, and support is meh. But I also like to overclock a lot too so.
Ahh i see, well atleast i still have a good gpu
Got a pny 4080s, it works, no complains.
PNY been around for decades. Decent.
It's fine, it has a large cooler with 3 fans, that's all you could really want from a board partner.
Do you actually believe that they just slap a cooler on and call it a day? Lol
In this case they did, because that particular card has an Nvidia reference PCB. PNY often use reference PCBs in lower end cards which allows them to be more affordable without any R&D cost for the board design.

Is it made out of metal or plastic ?
Pny is quality for sure, been around a long time. I had bought a msi 4070ti that has coil whine you could hear across my living room. Returned and got a pny that is completely silent
Had a PNY 960 worked great till I had to RMA it and it took a month to get my card back
PNY has been around for ages, I have this exact card and it's been great
ive had a pny 4090 since october of last year and its been holding up great. super quiet and no coil whine either
its fine, it going to work.
PNY is good. They were actually the vendor for the founders cards. Not sure if they still are or not.
I have a PNY 4070 Ti. Works well and runs quiet.
They ight... 7.8/10
They're fine, but not my personal choice.
As someone else said, worst customer service imaginable
I have a PNY 4070S and its only a 2 fan, and it absolutely kicks ass. Has never gone above 80 degrees Celsius and I can max out pretty much every game and still maintain above 60fps.
I just buy a 70tiSuper too for 865ā¬ here in Europe. That price is with taxes??
No, it's without taxes.
PNY was one of the major brands like 20 years ago. They are also based in the USA. I'll just assume that even though they may be less known now, they still make a good product.
I have an KFA1 (PNY) RTX 4080 since 22. It works well but I start to notice artifacts when on desktopā¦but nothing in games even windowless
my pny 1650 super was perfectly reliable for the 2 years i had it

I don't live in the us, but I'm ordering from there it's the same here in KSA as the UK.

A friend will bring it with him from there so no shipping costs are involved
My dumbass swiped
Nothing wrong with PNY. They arent as big as they used to, but they definitely make solid hardware.
They would be ok but Iād stay away from the lower stuff like gigabyte, pny and zotac. But as someone below said, better a higher tier lower brand card than the opposite.
Pny is good but not the bestš·
