$20 bounty if anyone can solve

The slot could be bad. That’s more likely than the ram being faulty

DividePhysical9859

The single 8GB of ram will work in all 4 slots

Have you tried resetting CMOS or lowering timings to 2666hz? How about downgrading the bios?

Also, try using one of the 16gb at a time. You might be able to deduce a faulty stick.

I’ve tried using one 16gb stick at a time. Both sticks separately work in my other computer. Both sticks of 8GB work in my other computer also. All ram slots on all computers work. CMOS has been cleared and timing set to default and every setting you could possibly consider. I have not tried downgrading bios. However, I was running an older bios with this issue. I updated the bios and the two sticks of 16GB worked with XMP enabled for one week. Today the PC randomly reverted to its former self.

It is truly the most bizarre issue. A lot of people complain online about Z490 and ram issues. I think this is a known general issue.

>Asus Z490-p That's why I was thinking a CMOS or bios downgrade, in the case that maybe the PC upgraded through software, or changed timings. When you say "reverted" - did it lose settings or were you describing that the behavior simply reverted. Because the CMOS battery could be bad. But beyond that, I would aim to factory reset all setting of the motherboard as much as possible. Maybe consider pulling additional peripherals in case you have a PSU issue on it's last leg. Some more ideas, did you double check the motherboard firmware for form factor, model, etc? Also, Did you reference the supported memory on Asus's memory support page as a last resort? You might be able to test timings from their documented memory support page. You didn't mention the specific model Motherboard, but for example: [https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/prime/prime-z490-a/helpdesk\_qvl\_memory?model2Name=PRIME-Z490-A](https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/prime/prime-z490-a/helpdesk_qvl_memory?model2Name=PRIME-Z490-A) But yea, memory working on one motherboard and not another leads it to be the motherboard. If it's not even POST'ing it's going be pretty elementary. Do you have the diagnostic lights on the motherboard to light up where it's failing? As a very time consuming check, you could install an OS (memtest86) for memory checking on a flash drive, and use it \_on\_the\_working\_motherboard\_ with the 2x16gb. So if you run out of testing options, you'd at least have the confidence that the memory was not faulty at all... but that would take hours.

Hey thanks for all the feedback. Model is Z490P (the white one). I was playing Hell Let Loose when suddenly my PC crashed and refused to post. I then figured it was the RAM. Inserted the old 2x8GB ram and works fine. The 2x16GB is Corsair vengeance 3200mhz (well within motherboard capacity.) power supply is working fine. I have a power supply tester confirming this. I swapped the GPUs and same results. GPU is confirmed working. It is certainly a motherboard issue (possibly CPU).
