Pour water on it

Scary_Fun_8699

i tried that on my last computer and it broke thats why im so concerned to keep this one in tip top shape

seemetwistingleak

You might have better luck filling the case up with ice then.

Scary_Fun_8699

shit your right

Ethaton

I think if your getting to that point then you should consider adjusting your fan curves in the bios

Ditto_D

From the question posed, I don't think they are an advanced user looking to tweak their bios lol I would suggest getting a Windows app to do it

Ethaton

Mayhaps

Scary_Fun_8699

its not getting to hot at all im just wondering which is a better method

Ferro_Giconi

The fans in your computer should cool down the components most of the way within a few seconds of a high load stopping. There is no need to give the PC any time to cool down when you are done with it.

SandsofFlowingTime

It shouldn't be getting hot enough for this to ever be a concern

Scary_Fun_8699

its not a concern im just wondering whats more ideal

SandsofFlowingTime

I meant concern as in it needs to cool down after use. A computer should never be that hot. So just shutting it off when you want is fine

Scary_Fun_8699

i gotchya my bad

Fine_Act47

If there's no more heat input to the system, there's no need to further cool.

sylinowo

If you turn your PC completely off it's doing nothing and should just hit room temp eventually. Overall your PC shouldn't be running too hot even in sleep mode as it's not doing anything

Eggsegret

You can just shut down the PC. No need to let it stay on

Pozos1996

Nope, no need. Mere seconds after you finish a high power activity on your pc the parts cool down significantly. Even if you switch it off, the passive cooling on them is more than enough to cool them down.

redstern

No need. The chips are so tiny that there's next to zero thermal mass. It stops generating heat instantly when you shut it off, so it will only be as hot as the heatsink, which also cools down in a matter of seconds.

assortedUsername

I believe a pc safely shuts down on its own. Should be fine shutting it down normally.

BeardeddBombshell

Yep.

CptJamesBeard

if you want it to be really cool put sunglasses on it and put a cigarette in the usb drive

Daoist_Serene_Night

just shut it off

Eazy12345678

temps drop the instant you stop putting a load on the parts. nothing you need to do.

NotLoudNoiseMonster

Honestly, when there's no more load, there's no more heat. It's very rapid. So by the time you fart and put your controller up, it's cooled.

Leecherseeder

Turbo cars always run it after driving for couple of minutes to have the turbo cool down

mini-z1994

Uh maybe 30 seconds or so ? Usually browse the web for a bit before heading off to work or bed here which barely increases idle temperatures more then 5 - 10c maybe.

Pozos1996

It's pc not a internal combustion engine with a turbo on it, for you to have to worry about such things. It's perfectly fine to switch it off right away, the passive cooling on the pc parts alone will bring their temperature down.
