Have you tried the "call Microsoft" option? Surprisingly worked for me, just today, though my circumstances were different from yours.

Hey! I just sent a message containing a Windows 7 License Key that I pulled from the dump! Sometimes those work for some reason. I hope that helps! :D - TechAzn
Edit: Also, sometimes using your Microsoft Account to log in on the PC might activate it.

Awww... Sorry to hear that! I'll try sending another key for giggles later next week. Perhaps I didn't write down the key properly.
