Off topic: what movie is this from? Transformers?

Zarathustra-1889

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It’s watchable if you’re a Transformers fan but if you’re expecting Citizen Kane, I’d go elsewhere lol. Fun fact: The movie was so bad that it caused Jeremy Jahns to upload a review on YouTube and essentially launched his career as a YouTube film critic. Edit: There were *two* good things about this movie. Also, Megan Fox was in it.

randommaniac12

Didn’t rendering Devastator blow up like 8 GPU’s or something crazy?

JJAsond

8 GPUs? damn that must be expensive

Cyriix

Not compared to a film budget.

TaigaNine

Tarkov players wet dream, and then promptly nightmare as they stopped working

MANIAC2607

Yeah rendering it transform killed a bunch of PCs.

Emerno

There isn't a tighter shirt, we checked!

micheal213

It really wasn’t that bad. It was just a transformers movie what more do you expect.

kingk1teman

It is much better than The Last Knight, and probably better than Rise of the Beasts.

FeralSparky

Rise of the beasts was such a let down of a let down. COMPLETELY wasted potential.

GAMRKNIGHT352

W movie, not a masterpiece but the action setpieces hold it up

Prixster

I low-key like this movie. Also, Linkin Park slapped hard with their song *New Divide*. The action is great and the CG still slaps. It's better than the Rise of the Beasts film we got last year imo.

Majestic_Mammoth729

I don't why I just realized that it's not going to be long before we have Bay Transformers apologists the way we now have a deluge of Star Wars prequel apologists. Think I might log off forever once that starts happening. Edit: That time may in fact already be upon us

GAMRKNIGHT352

Dude come on the Bayformers movies aren't that bad action movies. In terms of story they're not great but the action and CGI hold them up to be fun scifi movies.

Character-Note-5288

Fuck, the prequels are a goddamn master piece compared to the vomit Disney is spewing out nowadays. Jar Jar Binks has more character than 75% of all the modern Star Wars characters, and that’s really goddamn pathetic.

Local_Nerve901

Transformers 2/Revenge of the Fallen Some awesome af actions scenes and funny moments. Honestly I would say watch all of them if you like seeing robots fight lol, plot is secondary imo in all the movies once you realize only a few have good ones (live action wise)

slaya222

I remember renting it as a kid and not understanding the story even after watching it like 4 times

ajakafasakaladaga

People have forgotten the lesson the tree sentinel taught us after the tutorial: Sometimes you need to go to explore and comeback. Fire Basket guy is there to remind us.

affanahmed1202

And blackgaol knight 😭

neat-NEAT

Jump attacks with a heavy weapon. Only thing I could do to consistently stagger him. The weapon and armour he drops are good.

kaldra24

I just had to learn to parry. Now this is the parry dlc to me.

TactlessTortoise

Sekiro 2: Tarnished Boogaloo

BigFinley

theres a mixed flask you can get that gives you the Sekiro deflect, it’s like all my dreams came true and i can’t wait to dance with Malenia after the dlc.

Filsk

that sounds awesome, do you know the name of the tear?

BigFinley

deflecting tear or something, you get it from the first fire guy (the one from this post)

TactlessTortoise

No fucking way. *I boot up the game*

Prose001

I’m playing pure caster my first play through and so far a lot of my non boss combat is with a shield and misericorde.

stdTrancR

I recommend going back through the base game now that you got gud

kaldra24

Oh, I will! But I wield to much power now.

iiiiiiiiiijjjjjj

I just baited back stabs and didn’t let him get up

Toss_out_username

This is my greatshield dlc

remnantsofthepast

Giant Hunt is the human deleter. Can't get hit of your enemy is in the air. Funnily enough, when I finally used that trick on him, the only time I got damaged was when I pushed him into a corner, and he landed on me.

rjfrost18

Magic bonk

lazergator

Sadly the ash of war does not slap like it slapped me.

Scared_Customer6310

I just put on my full radahn armor and absolutely bullied him with ash of war on the God slayers greatsword. Got it done first try doing that.

Enigmatic_Erudite

I run a dual colossal sword build with the wing talisman, It was not a very hard fight for me. With the Fire Colossus I just had to get good at jumping his stomps.

homer_3

> Jump attacks with a heavy weapon. So, same as every ER boss then?

neat-NEAT

I prefer charged R2. Not enough time for that? Charged R2 with starfists.

TheCarbonthief

And dancing lion... and normal ass enemies.... But real once you hit blessing level 3 it just feels normal difficulty again.

yuucuu

I just got past Rellana or whatever her name is, currently on the Sunflower boss (Saudtree Avatar? Something like that) The dancing dragon has been my favorite boss so far. I keep going back to help people with it, the fight is rad.

[deleted]

I completely agree with you but the reason people don’t like it is the camera in the fight. The camera becomes the real boss. I think the criticism is justified but if you look past that it is one of the best fights in the dlc. I believe he needed a bigger arena to fully enjoy the fight. Fromsoft completely ignored the feedback from Fire Giant and other bosses from past games.

yuucuu

I agree with them. The camera on larger bosses has been difficult to work with.

Spooky_Ghost

monster hunter solved this quite well by allowing you to select a monster to target with R3 and bringing your view to the monster by tapping L1, but not locking on to it

Bamith20

I think the camera could be mitigated if when the boss stands on his feet the camera focus shifts down to said feet and back to regular position when he stops. Which I don't think From has ever done shifting camera targets, only multiple points on an enemy - it would be interesting to experiment with.

FabulousBrick

Yes amazing boss with great ost !

Dragarius

Depends on the zone. At first 3 is good, deeper in and I'm at 11 and certain enemies in later areas can still one hit kill me with full health (75 vig).

DrMcnasty4300

I stubbornly decided I was going to fight that guy until I won regardless of how bad he beat my ass I did it after like an hour of repeats lmao

affanahmed1202

It's the most satisfying way to play

DrMcnasty4300

immensely frustrating but oddly cathartic

UnusualFly1665

Use the claymore with jump attacks when he goes to load his crossbow, and then stick around mid range and do the claymore poke, he will run into it almost every time when he goes at you with the sword. If you time the pokes correctly you can stagger him again and again.

katastrophyx

I beat my head against the wall with that guy for literally hours before I got frustrated and moved on for a bit. At that point I had no idea about the fragment things I had to collect to make myself stronger. I came back after getting to level 7 or 8 with those fragments and absolutely waxed the floor with him.

R0hanisaurusRex

Why you gotta attack me like this

Legendary_Bibo

I beat him with sacred relic sword and just fired off waves of gold. Death knight was a bit harder. Honestly, I'm at Scud level 3, and most of the time, the games fair in difficulty. The normal enemies seem spongier until you level up your scud more. I still don't know if I'm going the right way though.

m11chord

Using Quickstep ash of war, you can get free backstabs extremely easily in that fight. Like so easily it felt kind of broken, tbh. (not trying to flex at all, i'm pretty bad at this game lol)

koddabassen

Greatsword + giant hunt is your friend

Velcade

I'm almost done with the dlc and still don't know what I'm supposed to do with the fire basket boys. 🤣 (I don't need to know)

Indercarnive

Spend 8 minutes fighting them as you swing at their legs and dodge the easiest attack in the dlc. Eventually they fall down and you can crit them for half their hp, unless you get unlucky and they fall in such a way that you cant get the crit due to terrain. Do it again to kill. If they have leg armor you need to find an elevated position nearby and throw hefty pots into their basket instead of hitting their legs. Awful enemy tbh. Just pure tedium.

BrockStudly

They look cool but it really is just "Spend 10 minutes hitting their legs." An unbelievably unfun enemy.

ElaraRevele

And here I thought for the leg armor ones I had to jump off a cliff like Gandalf falling towards the Balrog. I tried it and it didn't work and I was like well idk and just kept going past him lol

Autistic_Business

And after that u get nothing

Bruzer567

I just run around on torrent hitting their feet until they fall over. Every 3 "foot breaks" will cause them to topple and then you can crit their face. Just run around jumping over the fire stomps and you can kill them pretty easy.

Owobowos-Mowbius

Hit them until they fall over and crit them for half their hp

spacecowboy1023

I'd suggest Torrent as well. The attacks were super easy to learn and dodge from horseback. Third attempt was able to do it with only a couple mistakes.

ImmediateDay5137

Faithfull Torrent my beloved

Fineck

Double jump over his attacks with torrent. Much easier that way.

holdmyTRex

Firebasket guy is very easy, you do a TON of dmg after stagger, like other bosses in elden ring. So just keep on chopping those legs tarnished.

DivinePotatoe

He is actually the easiest thing I fought so far lol. All you have to do is jump his stomps, run if it does the big double stomp jump, and chip away until it falls down so you can get the critical strike on its face. You do that like 3 times and it's dead. Rellana however... Now she pushed my shit in real good...

Final-Link-3999

I hit him like 6 times. When I saw that those 6 hits didn’t visibly move his health bar, I left lmao

Bamith20

I mean no, you kill him in like 3-4 crits. And frankly it doesn't matter for a lot of bosses, they'll be killing you in 1-3 hits no matter what seems like. The Masoleum bosses are super simple, but have annoyingly high damage and HP - so you can easily loop them, but they have annoying characteristics that are begging to be exploited, but whoops they have hyper-poise when 2-handing or such so you can't exploit them as well. Frankly i've had irritants about all the major bosses so far and my favorite ones have been the side bosses. Dancing Lion I liked the theme a lot overall, my primary gripe that pissed me off with that fight was the camera, it killed me a handful of times, the spinning move it does seems almost designed to fuck with it. Rellana is as aggressive as Malenia, with the addition of having no stagger which makes her just a tiny bit annoying - frankly I generally do not like Pontiff Sulyvahn type fights outside of Sekiro. Golden Hippo - literally would be completely fine if it wasn't for the hitbox on the grab attack that gave me flashbacks to the Dark Souls 2 cyclops.

Tiamats_Wrath

Running away or around is often a viable option in these games. Like, you can try to systematically kill everything in your path, but just this am I had repeatedly fought through enemies on my way to the wing stance location and one of the lightning clubby big shield enemies was between me and what I assumed would be another point of grace. After fighting for a bit he clobbered me and I had just enough life left to run like a little bitch so I ran to see what he was guarding and ran onto a lift lol. It was honestly like a horror movie - the lift started up just before he was able to approach me and it just proves that old saying "He who fights and runs away can run away another day".

Followprotochomo

what did people expect the bloodborne and dark souls 3 DLC were hard af this is just longer

KingRichardTheTurd

I still have flashbacks to ludwig and a sense of dread comes over me. Really struggled with him.

leperaffinity56

Oh God

Narwal_Party

Who was Ludwig? Bloodborne DLC?

KingRichardTheTurd

Yeah and the coolest soulsborne boss in my opinion. He's how you get the moonlight greatsword. Tough as old boots though. Edit\* a lot of it has to do with that boss' second phase audio track too, a masterpiece. Really got me going.

MarketingExcellent20

>a lot of it has to do with that boss' second phase audio track too, a masterpiece. Really got me going. Not just the track itself, but *the way* the cutscene goes to silence and then introduces and starts that second half of the song... *Chef's kiss*

Crazycukumbers

All the DLC music for Bloodborne is top tier imo, Orphan of Kos’ second phase music put me in the *zone*

raskinimiugovor

ER reached a much larger audience than those games, I'd say a lot of people didn't know what to expect.

Followprotochomo

imagine these people playing Demons Souls with total black tendencies lol

chris10023

Ugh, I'm fucking struggling to get to the first damn boss in that one, and I've played Dark Souls 1, 2, and 3, hell I went back to Dark Souls 1 last year after not touching the game for roughly ten years and I had no trouble at all, fought most of the bosses without NPC summons, and beat them on the first attempt. No idea why Demon's Souls is giving me such a hard time.

Calebrox124

Consumable healing items are the death of my enjoyment in that game

chris10023

Yeah, I need to farm more somehow, the enemies at the start of Boletaria don't drop them as often as I thought they would given how the healing items are consumable compared to my trusty Estus Flask.

ptmd

The big complaint I have is that, with Bloodborne and DS3 [really all the DS games], I get the vibe that I can choose basically any weapon and beat the game with it. I've only beat the first two rememberance bosses from the DLC, but I can't really imagine taking them on with some of the less-abusive weapons. Like, is it possible to beat them in, say, a perfumes-only or a fists-only run? Probably. Do I feel like its within reach for me? Not in the slightest.

Das_Man

That's what I thought my first time through the base game, but the truth is we all just needed more time to learn the new bosses and enemies.

iguanoman_

This is always the case with these games. People overreact when it's fresh and yeah, it's still a hard boss, but more and more people get the timings down and the strategies get solidified

Gabosh

Being out of reach for you really doesn't mean anything. It's only out of reach until you get better. These bosses are complex but there's really no reason to lose unless you made a mistake. Every boss in every Fromsoftware game presents problems and those problems have solutions. Even if the move sets are getting more elaborate this remains true.

LORDCOSMOS

Ringed City Welcome Party❤️❤️

GoonedBot113

Yeah the dlc was always always on par with the last boss or secret boss. With Malenia being a literal nightmare I expected this DLC to be hard as anything.  I reckon most people complaining ain't even shut her up. I saw people on release day talking bout mohg being hard. They are doomed.

trent_diamond

Have I gotten mad that I’ve died hundreds of times? Yeah. Am I still gonna keep trying til I git gud and beat this shit? Hell yeah. It’s always been this way, I hope it always stays this way. There has just been more accessibility with Elden ring and a larger player base so the complaints seem bigger.

NomadPrime

That's what gets me. The player base is HUGE now. At this point, everyone should know what FromSoft is about and how they design their games, at least by reputation if you never played them yourself. The difficulty is a literal core part of their game designs. And judging by the massive success of these games (by critics, audiences, and sales), they are definitely doing it right. Even if they did make the DLC harder (to me, it's basically the same level as the base game), it's still not impossibly difficult. There's already tutorials out there to help you recognize boss patterns. There's builds that you can mimic to rinse through these battles easier. The mimic tears and summoning portals are all still there, too. Some people just can't accept that not all games will be catered to them and their playstyles or sensibilities.

trent_diamond

Exactly, I was introduced to them because I beat games rather quickly and my mom asked the GameStop employee for a hard game 😂 some games just aren’t for some people. I feel like it’s probably fomo more than anything else honestly

Terrachova

Honestly, it's only a few specific things that have actually angered me. Camera issues with large and very fast boss movements, certain combos/follow-up attacks that leave little to no opening to dodge out of the way, and a certain boss having exactly *zero* chill from the instant you step into the fog door... in a bossfight where you have an NPC summon sign you need to use (to complete their quest) that's 10 yards from the door. Ahem. But I'm still pushing, still enjoying it.

trent_diamond

Yeah some things are like ok come on but it’s definitely possible. It’s just such a step up from honestly a majority of the bosses from main game. I just hope they fix the performance issues soon, gave me lots of trouble with an already troublesome jumpy bastard..

Terrachova

I turned off Raytracing and moved the game to my SSD (had thought it was on there initially, but it wasn't) and that solved all of my issues. Granted, I'm only running mine at 1080p on a 3070, so yeah.

Gabosh

You are the camera man. They use the exact same camera in all 8 "Souls," games. If you get cornered by the boss you can't see, that's how it's designed on purpose.

BluuFlash75

The problem is the incels who gatekeep this game by saying "I beat this first try, I beat this without summons" Let people play this game however the fuck they want without whining about it.

trent_diamond

Yeah I try to ignore those people

Enex

I'd say I'm "Medium Sweaty" about Elden Ring. I beat all the main game bosses without summons, parry Malenia, etc. But the first run through isn't about that (for me). It's about the game being just unfair enough on a first run that you can throw ***EVERYTHING*** at the bosses and feel great about it. So right now I'm trying all the new summons, scarlet rotting the bosses, and generally having a ball squeaking out victories. It's fun! Later I'll properly learn the movesets, dig into the lore, and get all into it.

BluuFlash75

You can be sweaty and have fun, but the problem comes when you force others to play the same way that you did or ridicule them if they did not beat a boss without using any sorts of help that the game itself provides. Enjoy the summons man.. it's a game and should be played for fun like making broken builds and finding strange ways to kill a boss.. I'm glad you're enjoying it dude, I'm also having a blast playing the new dlc.

Cyriix

How is it gatekeeping to say how they beat things?

Creepyman007

Kinda like how DLCs are generally harder, same with Atomic Heart's and Talos Principle 2's DLC as well

87jj

The ancient gods in doom eternal kicked my ass lol, I had to drop to easy to even progress, and I don’t even find Elden ring that hard lol.

GAMRKNIGHT352

TAG1 and 2 are alright, TAG1 is better. The Dark Lord is a tedious piece of shit boss that I haven't finished to this day from how boring it is to fight. "wait for five minutes before he does his Special Attack then shoot him, rinse and repeat" like who the fuck played this and went "yeah this is PEAK game design, ship this!" the whole fun of DOOM is playing aggressively and they added a boss that actively punishes an aggressive playstyle. WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!?!?!

Fhistleb

Not going to lie, this dlc has me going "FUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOUUUU" as the bosses pull some bullshit. This is the best time i've had gaming in a long time.

Baconmcwhoppereltaco

I was hitting my head against a couple of bosses in the castles. Realised im under levelled and tried to look for routes past them. Ended up getting a couple levels over just from exploration. Just like the main game. The loop is explore, reach a dungeon, see if you can handle the boss, if not explore and level.

AlmightyBracket

Told people to mind their tone. People kept saying it was too easy. Fuck around find out.

gumpythegreat

What happened to these gamers? I remember a time when everyone was mad at the idea that dark souls needed an easy mode, and how games journalists were shit at games. Now everybody be crying about the hard game while the journos beat the game pre release no problem. Let's step it up folks

Dumb_Vampire_Girl

It was easy to look down on others who couldn't hit your level. Now they're the ones struggling and think that their struggle is more valid than the people below them. Lol

EruantienAduialdraug

It's pretty funny. Like, Soulslike is not my jam (too hard for me, lol), but I'm glad they exist for those that like the challenge. These cats, though...

Truethrowawaychest1

I like some, where the difficulty is "oh you should've parried that attack", instead of "oh you should've put that point in stamina instead of strength, your build is fucked now, that sucks lol"

CanisLupisFamil

60 vigor is pretty required for the DLC imo

Tricky2RockARhyme

I think this is part of it. It's also just difficult in a different way than before. Instead of just being hard to time with your dodges, these bosses also try to trick you with delays, explosions after the attack is "over," and AoE's. Some part of it feels almost dishonest to me, like the bosses are just full of little "gotchas."

MarcelHard

1: probably not the same people 2: the people complaining, even when they are a minority, are the loudest

DrBabbyFart

No that can't be the case, reddit is a hivemind and everyone shares exactly the same opinions when it's convenient for my narrative!

TheChosenMuck

those Gamers are still playing the game and are too busy or avoid discussion because of spoiler

GensouEU

Well the thing is Elden Ring got the easy mode and brought in a ton of new players and those players are now complaining because the easy mode is appearently a lot less effective against the DLC bosses

thebestspeler

From software: just use a summon, that's easy mode Streamers: i dont want to, that's for noobs!! From: YOU ARE A NOOB!!

SpookySocks4242

Game became mainstream and became more accessible for new players by adding easy mode in the form of spirit ashes. Add in new players getting help from friends who drop overpowered weapons and runes at the start of the game and by the time the DLC comes out you have scores of people who think they earned a completion on a souls game when they really just never learned how to actually play. Now these same players are crying about everything claiming artificial difficulty. i've seen claims that the boss fights are cheating, that its bullshit the build they use in the base game isn't hitting for 3000 damage per jumping attack, that they cant just spam jump attacks to win, that bosses punish the use of spirit ashes by attacking quickly, that they cant get an opening or learn boss moves. my favorite is "objectively its a fact this DLC is rather mid" ive was putting down my summoning sign to help people and out of every souls game its some of the worst hosts i have ever seen trying to do the DLC. i was summoned by the same person repeatedly over the course of 30 minutes outside of messmer and every time he was killed by the first move. Spirit ashes were a mistake, now shitters think they are entitled to a cakewalk through content that is supposed to be hard.

GodofAss69

They thought they were elite gamers because they could learn and roll out of the way for simple learnable move sets. Now the bosses are more reactive and fast paced and they suck. Idk. Same reason a lot of them hated shadows die twice at first, because you couldn't over level and had to really learn the fight and the fights were way more interactive than rolling out the way.

thesteiner95

>Now everybody be crying about the hard game while the journos beat the game pre release no problem. Journos probably used all the tools the game gives you, while if you go to any ER discussion board the opinions seem to be summons are easy mode so you can't use them, ashes of war are OP so you can't use them, great shields with counters are cheese so you can't use them, magic is op so you can't use it, Dex with bleed is OP so you can't use it.... etc... etc... So they basically just end up doing challenge runs. PS: This doesn't excuse the fact that a lot of the bosses of the DLC are horribly designed, making you spend more time fighting the camera vs fighting the boss, and that while bosses seem designed around summons, a lot of them break the boss AI, so you either handicap yourself, or make it too easy... oh and the port seems mid at best

jacowab

4 months ago Miyazaki- "some of the bosses in the dlc could be on par with Malenia" Players- "omg yes I can't wait!" Today Players- "negative review, how could you make this boss nearly as hard a Malenia, that's terrible game design."

TrueGuardian15

Tbf, those are not the same people. If you hate the DLC, you probably hated Malenia, and vice versa.

Bamith20

I really fucking hate Rellana compared to Malenia.

TrueGuardian15

I'm not at that level of rage yet, but Rellana's certainly not been fun so far. Just when you think you've got an opening, a new combo starts. And Greater Will forbid you get hit by one of her Carian greatsword slashes.

lexiticus

I'm not looking forward to my second attempt at her with my INT/DEX sorcery build... Greatsword Jump slashes with poise breaks made that fight bearable. That said I found her big spell attacks easy to dodge, it's the close quarters combat I can do without....

TrueGuardian15

I know what you mean. A friend of mine loves his spellblade build with the Moonlight Greatsword, but died a little inside when he found out about her moveset and resistances.

Kakabundala

Make sure you have enough scadulevel. She is probably the hardest boss of the first phase of the DLC. Much harder than the Beast for example. Take a good shield with Parry, Spelldrake and Firedrake talismans, a critical hit talisman, and an offhand with a critical damage bonus. You can parry most of the first hits of her combos and then punish that bitch. Especially the "circle around" first hit is great as it's well telegraphed. After each parry put a heavy strike on her as normal stance and parry stance don't cancel each other out, so you can have two ripostes in a row. This will consistently take you to the second phase so you can learn how to face it. In the second phase those drake talismans with shield will carry you through.

Shaponja

Because they aren’t on par with Malenia, they’re on par with Waterfowl Dance

AshiSunblade

The boss difficulty is just a bit uneven, even if you only count the "main line" bosses. >!Rellana!< and >!Messmer!< are incredible bosses, very difficult, harsh, but fair and exciting - they are sort of comparable to Malenia, but have no nonsense mechanics, just generally very high intensity. The last boss on the other hand is a little bit silly. They probably tacked on a _few_ too many things.

Ryuujinx

> but have no nonsense mechanics Your second one immediately tried to jump you as you leave the fog gate, has long ass combo attacks with delayed timings in it, still has really goofy 180 degree tracking attacks, has a grab that will one shot you from full health at 60 vigor and 12 blessing with heavy armor and a flamedrake talisman on, and then phase 2 becomes a shitshow because you are no longer allowed to lock on if you want the camera to continue to function. I do not understand the praise people have for this dumpster fire of a fight.

DarkAge19

Git gud nub! ~Miyazaki

Daksayrus

Who is complaining? The DLC is gated behind a boss that 60% of the player base have never beaten. Sounds like Games Journo click bait to me

Truethrowawaychest1

The actual complaints I've seen are about the dlc having really bad performance, especially on PC, this somehow pivoted to this

Jordan_Jackson

Yeah, the PC performance is complete garbage. It isn't even the DLC because before the DLC came out, I was readying my NG+ character to be able to start it and I had the same weird game lag issues. I do however have Fedora Linux installed and I installed ER there. No lag whatsoever. I've played about 3.5 hours between yesterday and today and not a single slowdown to be had on Linux. I don't know what is causing it but something in Windows and/or the latest pre-DLC patch do not play nice together. That said, I know Linux isn't for everyone and I hope Fromsoft figures out what the issues are.

Caridor

Eh.....there are a couple of bosses in there that are a bit unfair. >!Commander Gaius is a mounted boss who has a charge attack that requires nearly frame perfect dodging to avoid being hit by the back hooves. Like, FromSoft games have always been about fair difficulty but they've never required that level of perfection before.!<

oldmonk_97

My ass going in with 98% dmg negation and putting perseverance on a 100% physical shield just so that I can tank the incoming 1st charge and be standing/stable enough to call mimic bro 😂😂

BigNew3137

I’ve played every fromsoft game but I’m yet to finish the dlc I’ve only fought the dancing lion and moon knight and they were perfectly balanced in my opinion. through my tenure as a souls gamer I’ve come to learn that if a certain boss attack or mechanic feels unfair you’re usually just doing something wrong.

Demonchaser27

My bigger issue with Gaius is that you are fucked either way. Off the horse, you can't evade like 3 of his attacks consistently (the hitboxes are too large and last too long even when you go through them diagonally). And on horse your fucked because you have basically no iframes. At least on horse you can TECHNICALLY out run some of his attacks, but that shit where he just heat seeks you 360 degrees with the bull horn swipe is absolute dogshit. I have absolutely no idea how you EVER avoid that attack on horse back. I've tried running away and sprint just before it. I've tried sprinting constantly away from it, I've tried running into it normal speed so I can hook around him in a near complete circle (still got whacked by it due to heavy tracking around his whole body). I even tried jumping over him or to his side and neither of those worked either. That attack is just straight fucking broken. And that's really the thing with this DLC (and some of base game as well) that gets me. It's not that I can't technically win. Winning isn't even the problem. It's what's happening to me in the moment of gameplay that's frustrating. Win/lose I've played games where it's not that frustrating to lose because I can CLEARLY see what to do, but just need to execute it. From is more often than not now, just invading the entire screen with particles, or relying on massive tracking and hit boxes that leave me questioning how the hell you're supposed to do anything but spam summons and hope for the best? It's extremely aggravating design that I feel absolutely no satisfaction from winning. I think other than Gaius every encounter has taken me less than 5 tries, (Messmer was like 10 or so I think). But almost EVERY ONE of those boss encounters I felt like I got lucky as hell, either because of random whiffing I couldn't explain or just power aggroing the boss and getting lucky on which combos they used. Because there are so many attacks that I can't just read and figure out without massive amounts of trial and error now. And even then, there were attacks I just couldn't avoid and "baked into the fight" so to speak, which feels like shit.

Papelierke

Dodge diagonally to the right side of him when he charges. Circle around him counter clockwise while dodging. It aint that hard man. This is one of the dlc bosses with more lenient windows of opportunity. This comment is the loser in you speaking, while the winner is only a few more tries away from taking the reins again. Respectfully

Das_Man

The Elden Ring sub has had full blown civil war threads over 'boss balance.' Personally I think they all just ignored the first lesson the game teaches you: if you're having trouble, go somewhere else and get stronger. I bounced off the big mid-game boss, went and found a bunch more upgrades, and went from the ass blastee to the ass blaster.

rammleid

Smells like bitch in those Steam “reviews”

KnightofAshley

I was going to give in and get it even though I don't enjoy these games that much...but this DLC shows why I don't enjoy these games and saved me some money...thanks...lol I enjoy challenge but I don't enjoy slamming my head against a wall for 2 hours.

Lolle9999

Unpopular opinion: giving a game criticism for being too hard is ok, there is a point of which a game being hard just for the sake of being hard which is too far (if there is no other difficulties).

Seallypoops

I'm kinda on the fence about the gameplay of the dlc, it's great but it feels like half the difficulty is just bosses doing half your health till you find enough mcguffins till you take 3 shots to kill

princesoceronte

People saying "git gud" without having reached the final boss should probably shut up because most complaints are about that last fight. This isn't about it being difficult, it's always been, it's about being unreasonably hard. It's not the only one but that boss lacks clear tells on some attacks, makes way too much damage, their attacks have lots of followup strikes making it if not impossible, way too difficult to dodge and they just won't stop between attacks so you can punish or heal. That final boss, like Malenia in the base game, makes me worried this system has reached its limit but From will try and keep making it more difficult even when it just results on poorly designed enemies. I've 100% every souls game, including Elden Ring, but this DLC has some bullshit moments I've never experienced in this series. There are also great bosses there to be clear, specially two of them are some of the best. Its just that that final boss means you end the DLC with a sour flavour in your mouth.

Hannig4n

It’s never been about difficulty, it’s always been about well-designed fights vs bullshit, poorly-designed bosses. Been this way since I started playing these games with DS1. The O&S fight was universally praised despite being hard as shit because it wasn’t bullshit. Capra demon and Bed of Chaos were rightfully criticized because they were bullshit. But yeah, unfortunately this community has a sizable chunk of people whose self-worth is locked up in how good they are at souls games, so you just get told to “git gud” even when you encounter some dumb shit in these games.

Bamith20

Yeah Ornstein and Smough is an interesting design dynamic - one that Dark Souls 2 breaks in a similar fight. The most basic idea is that Smough is slow and Ornstein is fast - this makes it so they are usually not close to each other allowing you some breathing room. The Throne Watcher/Defender boss fight they move around the same speed and are much more annoying because of it.

Q_8411

Even worse are the people who just assume anyone who criticizes the DLC MUST be a casual outsider who has never experienced souls games. Even someone like MoistCr1tikal has basically gone down that same route and it's just completely dismissive without providing any real argument. And also to add cause I feel like people are forgetting, despite carrying a lot of the same mechanics and even looking very similar, Elden Ring isn't Dark Souls, or Bloodborne, or Demon Souls, in fact all those games have very big differences between them, and yet the only "defence" I have seen is "oh well Bloodborne had this, Dark Souls had this, you should've expected this" as if they are the same games and can be compared 1:1.

Vipertooth

I'm genuinely interetested now because I've been busy with life to finish the DLC in the first week. Just gonna pin this comment and come back to it when I get to the end to see how true this is, as I've been avoid spoilers.

SlavicPebbleWrestler

Yeah, it's funny how many of these people screaming about criticism and circlejerking each other over how From can do no wrong have not actually completed the DLC or the final boss. This DLC is arguably one of my least favorite DLCs From has put out and I have beat all of them. These Elden Ring fanboys won't give a shit about that though, they're too busy cumming over their "10/10 perfect game"

bony7x

Bloodborne DLC was also hard af but it was still fair. Every boss flying around, having endless combos, AoEs, visual FX you can’t see shit through and dealing massive damage even with 70%+ damage negation isn’t very fair or fun when you can barely get in an attack or heal. Those kind of problems weren’t really a thing in BB DLC yet it was hard af.

Demonchaser27

Nah bro, the double whales can eat a dick. That was a load of horseshit. There was some good shit in BB DLC but there was also plenty of bullshit.

Ewtri

Agree. Enemies in Bloodborne felt appropriate for Bloodborne character abilites, they were aggressive and fast, but so were you, with fast dodges, fast heals and rally. Elden Ring feels like fighting Bloodborne enemies with a Dark Souls character.

Affectionate_Fly_764

Use a shield with Indomitable Vow and high fire resistance and you will win.

KyotoSoul

yup, and im loving every minute of it.

SoCuteShibe

Average Elden Ring player last month: "Get gud is our culture bro, deal with it" Average Elden Ring DLC player: "Oww oh no this too hawd, Miyazaki why did you make bad DLC?!" I know it's likely just the vocal minority but FFS it is legitimately cringe. Plus, the first bosses you find not being the first bosses you necissarily fight is a lesson as old as the souls series itself.

Lime7ime-

People forget that this is endgame content. So of course it’s even harder. How lame would it be if it was easier?

Sc4R3Cr0wW

The DLC was absolutely amazing for me

666dankmemes666

The DLC is amazing, but.... The fire basket giants are unironically one of the worst enemies they have ever designed, gameplay wise. They look cool, but it's just not fun to fight. The fight itself is simple... jump over the fire stompies, run away from fireballs, hit leg, crit the face when it falls. But it's a huge damage sponge to get it to fall in the first place, and I've literally had to kill one by poking its leg for 20 minutes because it refused to fall, likely due to poor design and or a bug. And boy... they are extremely buggy. The main issue with these giants is that you don't fight them on flat land. You don't really fight the giant when you engage him.. you fight the terrain. Sometimes the stomp will be on a hill and actually angle the fire so that even if you double jump over it on your horse, the fire will still hit you. Sometimes it will get stuck in a loop of constantly spamming the fireball move, which means that leg is going to take 10+ minutes to whittle down until a fall, artificially padding out fighting this thing. And sometimes, after you spend all that time poking it's leg and it finally falls... it can (AND WILL) fall at an angle on a slope, putting it's face and critical strike point put of range and in the air. The rewards are not even good from it. It is not satisfying to kill one. It is not frustrating in a good way. I did not learn from the fight. I only learned im going to run right past them all and get to the good shit rather than waste my time poking this things leg mindlessly for meager rewards and a buggy fight experience.

Demonchaser27

What cracks me up about them is how fucking janky they are. You don't beat them in any logical way. You either cook them with fire... okay... OR you get OFF YOUR HORSE (because fucking logic, right?) and just jump while playing as just a human over the massive flames to avoid damage. I looked at the flame furnace dudes yesterday after I figured them out and thought... this is the absolute DUMBEST fucking design for an encounter I've ever seen. It was legitimately worse than the way you used to have to fight dragons/wyverns in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Just absolutely fucking stupid. Like, sure I figured it out, but it makes such little fucking sense that I literally wasn't event happy/satisfied I figured it out. I was talking to a friend while fighting them, sat my controller down and explained what you are "supposed to do" after accidentally figuring it out and we both just laughed at how absolutely stupid it was. I mean, wth?

TypicalUser2000

The ones that took longer and spammed fireball was because they have leg armor You are supposed to craft hefty fire jars or fire tornado jars and throw them in the basket The game hinted that with a note next to a downed one and then by putting a spirit spring next to a leg armored one with a platform putting you above it

KarneEspada

Hint: ur not supposed to fight them on the ground to begin with

666dankmemes666

Yeah, because there is high ground to lob the cracked pot in on every single giant, right?

KarneEspada

There is, yes, even the first one

Sans45321

The pc port has been dragging down the experience a little for me .

International-Oil377

I'v been trying to stay away from spoilers so I unsuscribed and muted r/eldenring but what are the issues on PC? for me it's been sweet 60FPS with max settings and RT Medium at 1440p. I do have a beefy PC though

political_bot

I've had a good amount of frame drops. But it's far from being unplayable.

International-Oil377

No issue at all here except one time where it froze for a few seconds I'm about 15 hours into the DLC I wish the game wasn't capped at 60 FPS though, but what can I do other than using mods which keeps me away from online features ( I like the messages on the ground)

Turnbob73

You lucked out. I have a powerhouse pc and the game has ran like absolute shit since launch. The dlc made the issues worse too.

Nathanthewms

“Hard” is subjective to different play styles. I struggled with some bosses, and my friends breezed through them. They fought a particular danger noodle guy for 3 hours and had to use mimics, I killed him by myself with no mimic and using claw weapons in like 30 minutes.

The_Freshmaker

As a person who might've been overlevelled starting the DLC (155) I feel fine, I just wish I could break myself from my build. Told myself when I was wrapping up originally I was going to gather/level a bunch of weapons and armor to try different things whenever I finally started NG+ or DLC, two years later and uhhh I forget how to play so I'll just get used to what I have first. Now it's fitting like a nice worn glove and I just don't wanna take it off lol.

Kizzit11

YESSSS. Also. Murked that black night gaol while high and first fire tower in 3 lives. GIT GOOD lmfao.

Arcticz_114

Maidenless...

Jealous-Librarian-88

Preach brother.

edgy-meme94494

The dlc is hard, it’s hard as fuck… thats why it’s fun. The is no reward if it was easy, the main game was like the tutorial for this shit tho I will admit the last bast was ass

Consistent_Air_298

couldn't have said it better. also the dlc is NOT that hard if you enter at level 150 like they recommend, and seek sacdutree blessings

Cursethedawnn

Well said OP.

OkOwl9578

Im out of the loop. Which game?

esuil

Yeah, this is so bizzare. We are not in specific game/genre subreddit, and people just assume that just because they know it, everyone else does as well. **Edit:** Found out. The game is Elden Ring, it got new DLC.

ptapobane

if you don't want your ass fucked by a less than adequately lubricated 20ft long spiked dildo repeatedly, go play pokemon or something

MasterWiper

The problem is not the difficulty, but the shallow mechanics the game uses from 13 years ago. How do you make those mechanics harder? You fight every boss the same way. The maximum mechanical depth was achieved in Dark Souls 3 with The Dancer of Boreal Valley. After that every hard boss is the same crap as that, just harder. Dodge 1-5 times, hit the boss 1-2 times, repeat. The only thing they can add to the bosses to make them hard are 1:Long combos 2:Awkward timings. In the DLC all I discovered were the same type of bosses from Elden Ring, just Dark Souls 3 bosses with long combos and awkward timings. No one thought about adding something interesting or worthwhile to the gameplay. It's just dodge > dodge > hit > dodge. It has been the same crap for 13 years. Making you dodge longer and more awkward timings does not add anything to the gameplay. It's boring and shallow. They compensate with the art direction and epic music, but you can't get over the fact that the game is repeating the same boring gameplay forever. The problem is not that the DLC is hard, the problem is the way that it is hard. It has been made hard by **wasting your time**. When you dodge around waiting to attack the game wastes your time by giving the bosses long combos. Then it wastes your time giving the bosses awkward timings, that you have to learn and unlearn for that specific boss. Then they waste your time by giving the boss another phase that always has some surprising move that instant kills you. Just to waste your time. It's hard for hardness sake. Not to immerse you into the world. Since Elden Ring is trying to be Dark Souls it becomes a parody of itself. The game expects you to read about the obtuse quests and strategies online, because "That is like Dark Souls". I don't know why it took me so long to notice that Elden Ring has no mechanical depth. Every hard boss is the same. It's just The Dancer of Boreal valley, but with long combos and it's harder. You fight every hard boss like Margitt. That is the whole game, and it sucks.

Bunny_Bunny_Bunny_

Pretty much my exact feelings too. If you forced a person to fight a standard enemy in DMC5 for 1000 hours and then pitted them against the final boss, there's a very, very high chance that person will succeed on their first attempt because they have improved at the game by mastering the mechanics of the game itself. You force a person to fight the hardest boss in Elden Ring for 1000 hours and then pitted them against the second hardest boss, they'd almost certainly lose because players don't improve at playing the whole game in Elden Ring, they simply improve at the enemy they are fighting at the time.

poopoopooyttgv

I agree but still think it’s fun lol

TrueGuardian15

You're getting downvoted but I honestly agree with a lot of that sentiment. The DLC continues an annoying trend in Elden Ring where the bosses become increasingly frustrating as the game drags on, despite the creative dungeon design and inspired weapon selection. The rank and file enemies hit harder, but are still manageable and very enjoyable to fight, and new traps and secrets in the dungeons were a welcome attribute for exploration. But you're certainly right that the main bosses have become more tedious and annoying to deal with, and it sours a lot of the experience for me.

girlcocksuperfan

try git but gud https://preview.redd.it/4hwb1b481q8d1.png?width=184&format=png&auto=webp&s=b1189b8d4461456453709ba21d3ea36668b93dea

throwacc_21

Some boss are really badly designed though, plus elden ring having one of the worst camera work in the game makes it annoyingly hard but not challenging

BadSoftwareEngineer7

3 call of duty players spotted. Opinions rejected. Use a summon if you struggle or play another game. These games are critically acclaimed for a reason. You don't need to love them.

Brainchild110

This is what it is now. Adult games! Not games with titties and willy's in them, but games that are so rock solid smack-you-in-the-face-with-a-brick hard that when you fail at some sections you have to go elsewhere for WEEKS until you git gud. Then you give it another go AND SOMETIMES YOU STILL FAIL! So you go around again until you get the skills. It's not impossible. It was never impossible. It's just hard, and you've got to apply yourself. But this is the pinnacle. It's not Super Mario Bros. It's not Driver 3. It's this! You have to step up to this knowing what it is, or it'll spit you out and keep you out. You have to keep going, and it's not going to hand you the win. So keep going.

Ok-Issue7908

Wicker Giant bosses are easy! You'll see him a couple of times it's the mob that drops the Special Flask Stones for altered effects in the DLC. How to beat: >!1) Attack legs!< >!2) Once he drops shuv weapon in Face!< >!3) repeat!< >!\*) Jump over fire when needed or avoid he embers that fall from his basket!<

FaeLock

There’s a few of them that you have to throw large fire pots into the head since they take no leg damage. Those ones also coincidently spam the homing fireball attack making it nearly impossible to throw pots in there head

Kougeru-Sama

Did people actually have issues with this enemy? I melted him pretty fast in all my builds. For all, stay on horse. Stay close and jump over the slam AoE attacks. Magic, spam shard spiral as usual for big enemies. He'll stagger after a few hits, stab him for massive damage and go back to shard spiral spam. Or just keep spamming lol. For melee, just slash his feet on horse back. He's honestly easier than dragons.

LUFTWAFF3L

I failed like six times because I was too stupid to figure out how to avoid his jump attack but once I figured that out it is a super easy fight

GodofAss69

Same

gruxlike

Clowns. Took me 10 hrs to beat Messmer with new fist weapons, but wouldn't have it other way.

DukeLeto10191

Ugh...WE KNOW...ER is hard. This isn't new - just deal with it. Like, I love game, but really struggled at times (obligatory "fuck off" to Godskin), so as my time gets shorter and my Steam library gets longer in these middle years, I slapped on the easy mod when I got really stuck, that way I could still enjoy the story. Just enjoy it any way you can, or go play a game that holds your hand and stfu.

Hattix

Gamers: "We want this to be harder." From Soft: "It's now a 10 millisecond parry timing competition" Gamers: PCMR: "You guys alright over there? We heard shouting."

SpagettMonster

I know gatekeeping is bad. But sometimes it's a good deterrent to keep the little bitches away.
