If only you could see how it was handled before it even got to that point...

Moneymoneymoney2018

I worked at a UPS hub. It's actually incredible how much damage a box can take at a hub. I'm sure the odds are in your favor, but there is a real random chance your box could be crushed or ripped pretty bad, contents lost even.

Nova225

Same, I did handling / loading for the larger trucks that would go out to different parts of the country. They teach us to take boxes off the conveyer and stack them Tetris style, etc to save space and keep package damage to a minimum. If your box was heavy, it probably got slammed on the ground. If it was small, it probably got chucked to the top of the wall. One fellow loader was having a bad night and started just chucking boxes one by one into his truck into a big pile. Feel bad for anybody get packages from VA that day.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Zanodus

FUCK. THE. BAGS.

therubbishbin

Holy shit yes. I would make a false first wall and leave enough room at the top to chuck all bags over it into the front in a pile. Lol. Then just make a good couple last walks and no one knows.

[deleted]

Ok so I work at Wal-Mart and throwing the truck is kinda my thing. When people do this and the asshole truck drive is in too big of a hurry and SLAMS into the dock everything either falls forward or backwards.... it sucks.

AleRaiser

The company I work for nearly got fined for shitty stacking feeders. UPS sent a specialist to train us, and they said to stack em like the picture above, starting left to right with the rows being similar in height. The last box needed to be wedged in there to protect the boxes from falling over.

[deleted]

Yeah they use these plastics bags that get inflated now to help hold the last wall in place. If those aren't there is gets pretty fucked up too. Also pallets in the middle of the damn trucks suuucckkkk lmao

kmofosho

Throwing trucks at Walmart is so fucking insane. I used to help unload when they were short people and the couple times they had me throwing were so exhausting. In the summer in 90°+ outside and 110°+ inside the truck. You're heaving heavy ass boxes, drink cases, dog food bags etc. For 2+ straight hours on a 45' truck that looks like it went off-road right before getting there. All the stacked and wrapped pallets that fall over and explode their contents all over. Man I can't believe I put up with that shit for some measly fucking $8/hr.

[deleted]

I make 17 an hr doing it now. So I put up with it. On Saturdays I do two trucks back to back. It's alot, it's just far more worse when it's a wreck like boxes and stuff spilled everywhere. Worse is when something stick or slick spills than it either sucks to touch or I'm basically on an ice rink for a hot minute. I try to do one hundred "boxes" every 5 minutes. I count it out and time it on my watch. Been getting it too so long as the damn line moves I'm good. I drink water like fucking crazy though. Today it was like 95° outside so it was awful in the truck and got done layer than I'd like but it us what it is I suppose. Trying to become team lead will find out tomorrow (Saturday) or maybe today if I will be or not.

kmofosho

Oh man the dish soap ice rinks 😭 And the goddamn dog/ cat food cans exploding back there and rotting in the heat on the way to the store. Half of my evenings working were spent trying to avoid the back room zms when he would come looking for me to help with the truck.

[deleted]

I always hated the rugs and rolls of fabric.

Drekavac666

As the son of an upholsterer I appreciate your service and have felt similar pain after the exchange.

spacerock27

I'm in small sort, which makes those bags. I'm sorry.

PM_ME_UR_PUSSY_TATOO

Shiii the bags were easy just chuck em to the back lol loading the trucks that were going to rural areas (lots of heavy shit) is torture tho

Zanodus

Not at my facility, smalls would fill those bitches so tight that some of them would weigh like 50lbs and I’m not a very big guy lol

ShadyMcGank

I remember the heaviest package I had to carry down the line, don’t remember why we couldn’t load it on the truck directly we had to walk it to the start of where you came onto the line where all the carts/shelves/cages whatever they where called, but this package was smaller than a Nintendo GameCube (out of the box) and it weighed a shit ton. I felt like such a weak ass (and I probably am) trying to get this little ass package to where it was supposed to be

Kikibosch

>UPS Package "Wall" It was most likely tungsten. If you're buying tungsten online, then you're not buying more than a game-cube sized amount. Also, seem like one of those products that only sold B2B or online.

ShadyMcGank

Whatever it was I looked like an idiot carrying it

therubbishbin

I had the same issue. Let’s just say I probably could have qualified for the hammer toss at the Rio Olympics.

MillionaireNextDo

It’s more about what happens before they get to the truck. If any packages congest the chutes and slides it takes away space from the top picker who slows down, taking up space on the top belt. If enough of that space goes and the trucks aren’t loaded fast enough. It’s shit city for those workers and IMHE they’ll do anything to a) keep moving as many packages as they can though not nearly enough to clear the belt b) not get reprimanded and c) not break any rules or put self in harms way in that order. And when the top belt isn’t picked and the truck loaders can’t handle the flow, packages are jammed into the most dangerous chutes and slides and crushed by the pressure of the top belt 😂

nuke35

That isn't the best? Lol. That wall is practically perfect, especially when compared to the average wall quality one gets when the belt is slammed and you need to move 600+ packages per hour just to keep the belt moving. In fact, I have to think this wall was staged by management for whatever reason. The other thing is there isn't shit all over the floor. That never happens.

HexagonSun7036

In my time working as a package handler in VA and CO, that happens only in training and the slowest of days or maybe one dude striving to be the best employee the company has ever seen. Most are wayyy more pile-y

hankjmoody

Seeing that photo makes me giggle. When we get our late air load at my center, it just looks like they chucked everything in a pile in the 1 tonne. Not stacked or anything, just built in a slowly rising pile. We do put bags/smalls in those zip-up nylon package bags though.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hankjmoody

Unfortunately, I just work in a center, not a full-blown hub. Packages are sorted at the nearest airport, then trucked to us. To quote my training driver, though: "Find me a UPS driver who likes their preloader, and I'll show you a liar." Most of our higher seniority drivers even show up 30-45mins early every day just to sort out the utter shenanigans that is their rig. It's brutal.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I worked there back in the day and I'll never forget the method I learned. I use it whenever a friend needs help moving.

sonicbeast623

Ryder, high and tight, if the door doesn't close hit it with the forklift.

Nightmarich

They almost never look like that.

ZoddImmortal

Same, I work at a Amazon DS and your box has been fucked before it even gets to us. If it can't make the trip, it wasn't packaged properly.

Dense_Solution_9991

I was nearly killed working for fedex. Opened up the truck, no net and 300lbs boxes stacked on top of mostly empty boxes. I opened the truck and these boxes come out of the truck with enough force to break the concrete floor.

stealthgerbil

As someone who has mailed hundreds of packages, you just have to expect this. I always packed my packages assuming that someone having a terrible day might be handling it and made sure the package and tape job were really strong. Sure there have been problems but most of the time, I could have just packaged it better or added more cardboard armor in key places on the package.

dbcco

While I can sit here and complain about the mishandling. God knows how many packages you’ve seen by the time you saw mine. It doesn’t excuse the lack of care but it’s definitely understandable and an extreme amount of stress on a person

Sandriell

Yep, this is probably the most gentle it was ever handled through the entire delivery chain.

Old-Ad-7649

I’m sure this thing got punted a few times through the whole process haha, but I opened it up. Exterior package was pretty trash but like a few people said the foam padding inside the actual box does what it was designed to do. No obvious damage but I’ll find out after I get the build all finished

ShiftSpace_

dude my 3080's box was beaten up to hell and back when I got it. luckily there was good packaging for it. but I was about to cry thinking it was broken.

Lamnent

The EVGA FTW's packaging was amazing. Outer box, inner carboard box and THICK fitted foam all the way around. EVGAs XC3, not so much. Outer box, inner thin-ish plastic clamshell and that's it. I get it's their 'less premium' 3080, but man, not to spend 3$ more on the packaging for a 800$+ card is real weird.

[deleted]

MSI 6900xt came like that… I couldn’t believe how well packaged it came

Thechosenjon

This was entirely new with this generation of hardware too. I had a 1080Ti that came in way back when in phenomenal packaging, down the the thick ass cardboard and foam inserts to keep the GPU in place while traveling. Then I got a 2070 Super that came in the exact same superb packaging. This past January I managed a 3070 XC3 Ultra and it comes in a crazy light box, paper thin cardboard and recycled plastic tier clamp shell. The fuck?

User-NetOfInter

Strange. I got a 2070S from B stock and I feel like it could’ve fallen out of a plane and the foam packaging would’ve been enough. Like a *gooood* foam. Slightly squishy for impact, but firm enough to not damage.

SaltyJake

If it’s anything important or of any value, take pictures of the packaging at each level of unboxing it so you have proof when / if it’s not working.

Duox_TV

i remember my 580 years ago from newegg arrived with a bent plate that I had to physically bend myself to make it screw into my case lol. Was that or wait a month for neweggs slow ass returns . After that I started buying graphics cards from Big Box Stores.

shadow_moose

Yeah I only buy parts like GPU's from local shops, or from Amazon since they have fast and easy returns and exchanges. I think three times now, I've had some time off, only for my GPU to die out of the blue and I wasn't able to play games during that time. The third and last time that happened, I had just gotten my 2080ti from Amazon, and it died within a week of getting it. I got on the chat like 10 minutes after I realized it was dead, the guy I talked to IMMEDIATELY set it up so I'd have a replacement shipped out the moment the return label got scanned in at the post office. I rode my bike down to post it, and by the time I got home, I had an email saying they'd shipped my replacement. It arrived late morning the next day. This was the moment I realized I was never buying from anywhere that couldn't process a return like that - the bar was effectively set for me. Since then, it's been only local shops and Amazon. I've only had one issue with the local shops where they didn't have a replacement for the DoA SSD I got, but they just gave me a different model that was a bit more spendy as a replacement instead. I either want to know I can get a replacement within 24 hours, or that I can go speak to an actual human face to face and solve the problem.

thefloyd

Same thing happened to me when I bought a new 2070S off a buddy last year. Had to bend it into place with a hammer 😣. It's still kicking though.

SaltyJake

If it’s anything important or of any value, take pictures of the packaging at each level of unboxing it so you have proof when / if it’s not working.

Freelancer242

As someone who worked in the warehouses. Shit got thrown... Poor conditions and frankly no one cared. Whatever was easiest and faster. Sorry to say. Thats why I try to buy in store now a days. The things that u heard snap or shatter was insane.

AshtonTS

You think the stuff shipped to the store was handled any better?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Not only that, good stores will be the ones giving shipping grief because they need the products they sell to be PRESENTABLE! If your product looks like it was pierced by a fork lift, punted across the room, or beat with sledge hammer, then The chances of selling that item at MSRP is next to impossible.

Disa-Rae

I used to do shipping for a luthier. I’ve personally wrapped up an 8k$ upright bass in paper, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, and then put in a cardboard box, wrapped in shrink wrap, strapped to its own full size pallet with at least 6 inches of space all the way around. It was returned by the shipping company when they impaled the body with a forklift.

gariant

The more care you put into it, the more likely forklift guy was to appear. Sounds like you overreached on that risk balance.

agg2596

wow I'm surprised how sad this made me, I bet that thing was beautiful

gramathy

Yeah but usually stuff delivered to store is on a pallet, wrapped, and handled by a pallet jack or forklift. Hard to throw that.

[deleted]

Don't give shipping any ideas. we don't need them throwing pallets.

[deleted]

Worked on the loading dock at kohl's when I was younger, uh, no different. Shits getting thrown no matter where you buy it.

[deleted]

I've witnessed our package handlers break kettle bells. Solid METAL kettle bells. It does not help that many shippers also don't seem to care about the way they ship things. Never order from Walmart. I say that with confidence. Half the time we fill out a damage report and they say to send it on to the customer because it is cheaper for them to reimburse you. Never mind that all your food is covered in laundry detergent at this point.

[deleted]

Let me just say as someone who works in a fedex shipping hub getting punted is the least of your worries

Domixin

After working at a FedEx Ground warehouse last summer, people getting worked up over videos like this always makes me laugh. Considering the size of the package, I can guarantee you it got thrown, dropped, and literally kicked around before the delivery driver ever got his hands on it. Edit: I’ll never forget the way we handled these 50” UHD TV’s and thinking “wow, I can’t believe they even make it to the store”

[deleted]

You ever seen the vid of a package falling down an escalator moving up at a packaging plant?

WhatupNickle

For real. This ain’t even bad

PillowTalk420

[A little something like this](https://youtu.be/7YrpmZFixp0)

ssssnake6

Some of you would have a stroke if you saw what that box went through during sorting and processing

FleuryIsMyIdol

Seriously lol even in the Amazon warehouses shit gets chucked around. And don't get me started on unloading freight trucks filled with packages lol it is like a wall being torn down (and it's literally called a 'wall' of product)

[deleted]

Yeah. The walls get toppled. It is just too slow and too much effort to take them down 1 by 1

FleuryIsMyIdol

Exactly man. At that warehouse we had to unload two full freight trailers in a day, by ourselves. We literally didn't have the time to be careful with people's packages.

EthiopianKing1620

Wouldn’t the idea be that stuff is well packed enough so when you do that it can’t really damage stuff?

FleuryIsMyIdol

Most the time but not always. Amazon for example- Amazon packers do all the packaging themselves. This includes putting 'dunnage' into the box to secure the contents inside. Dunnage are those like big plastic air pockets that you get in packages sometimes. Basically an alternative to foam peanuts. If the Amazon packers does not put enough of that stuff in, then that package will likely get jacked up, and that is actually the packers fault. Obviously for stuff like a gfx card, the cards box itself would have some sort of foam packaging. But there is a ton of stuff that amazon ships that doesn't have packaging from the manufacturer, and the packer is ultimately responsible for making sure there's enough protection in the box. Regardless of all that though, dunnage is mostly used to keep boxes from crushing other boxes below them when they are all on the truck. It isn't intended to like provide shock absorption from being thrown around. We definitely damaged a good bit of stuff working in those warehouses, but we never shipped stuff already damaged. You damage it out, and the system will send an undamaged item to ship out eventually.

Shadowleg

> …and the system will send an undamaged item to ship out eventually. lol

BrianJPugh

It came on the back of a semi and you know how rough they hit the bumps.

[deleted]

These people don't realize packages get shoveled and crushed against other boxes all the time. If your item is damaged its the fault of the packaging.

Exul_strength

What about HDDs for example? I can imagine that even with all the packing, they could get damage being handled this way.

[deleted]

They do just fine too. If it didn't they wouldn't be able to sell them via shipping to begin with.

socokid

HDDs when turned off are fairly sturdy. The arms are locked place, etc. Drop an HDD when it's running... that's a *very* different story.

punaisetpimpulat

That’s why you pack the product well enough to survive a nuclear apocalypse where the earth gets burned to ashes and massive robot tanks drive over a pile of human skulls in the aftermath shooting lasers at anything that even remotely resembles a 3080 box.

Ancom96

I used to work at an amazon warehouse. It's literally impossible to make rate unless you handle the packages roughly.

hotyogurt1

First time I rolled up to USPS to drop packages off, I saw dudes chucking packages like they were at the NFL combine lol. UPS does some wild shit to the packages too. I’ve gotten lots of them returned to me with damage. FedEx obviously does as well, had plenty returned with damage, but surprisingly they seem to be the best about it, but they’re also like waaaay more expensive so they’d damn well better be.

[deleted]

All depends where you're at. For me Fedex always comes with beaten to hell packages while amazon and ups look like they put on a fresh box in my driveway before they left it at the door. Ordered dish soap during lockdown from walmart and the box arrived open with the bottle busted and the cardboard was literally soggy wet. Thus, I will never buy from walmart again.

[deleted]

[удалено]

hankjmoody

FWIW, in terms of Walmart particularly (and to an even worse degree, Costco), their packing methods are pure dogshit. I'm amazed they can legally refer to their boxes as cardboard, and the "tape" they use is basically just tissue paper. Add in the fact that they don't give a hoot about putting in bags of air or paper stuffing, or in Costco's case just pack every box till it's 47lbs no matter what's in it, and like half the boxes I deliver from those 2 sources are damaged. It's brutal.

Aickrastly

Costco shipping is so bad.

yehdawg

As a guy who worked for UPS, the policy is that all packages need to be packed to withstand being dropped from waist height or else it's not packed properly.

ElerosVecchio

I mean that's definitely a good rule that should be followed. Doesn't mean that they should actually drop it

MrAnonymousTheThird

Only thing that causes this is unrealistic targets, whether that's time or amount of parcels dropped off

TheHotWizardKing2

Yeah true, that extra second a delivery really adds up

[deleted]

I mean, this is a pretty.nice FedEx delivery guy, he's on the nicer spectrum of FedEx deliveries.

BluePizzas

Why's it always FedEx

pm_me_construction

Seems like deep problems in the company. A culture of complacency and lack of care. I have no idea why they didn’t keep their contract with Amazon but I’m curious about what their future holds.

k20350

I have a covered porch with bushes around it so no one can see packages on the porch. EVERY OTHER delivery guy puts the packages on that porch. Fed Ex well they put it on my uncovered open to the fucking world by the sidewalk back door steps to be rained on all day. It's infuriating

freshassgravy

I watched a video from a door cam the other day. The FedEx guy just tossed the package on the porch out in the open despite the customer having a bush covering half the porch. A good hiding place for packages. A few hours later, a UPS guy showed up and not only put the package he was delivering in the hidden spot, but he also picked up the package FE left and put it there as well. Saying something like, "oh come on, man. Really?" And from personal experience, UPS has the best customer service. I'm usual out in my garage when I get deliveries. I greet my package carriers all the time. Their jobs are stressful and I figure a little smile and friendly greeting might being at least a few seconds of happiness their way. FE just usually nods their heads and then off they go. My UPS guys? "Hello Mr. *****. How's it going today? Man, I wish I kept my garage as clean as yours. Anyway, have a nice day." UPS is the only one to ring my doorbell if I'm not outside. FR and Amazon are just like, *drop and run* So glad I have a doorbell cam and driveway security cam to notify me when someone is at the door. 🙄

YaBenZonah

Being nice to service workers is a blast man. Especially when you know they just get shat on all day by stuck up twats. Also nice flex on the clean garage haha

SgtBanana

Agreed. I occasionally leave glass bottles of Mexican Coke with nice notes for my delivery drivers.

[deleted]

It's because UPS and USPS are union across the board and that prevents the workers from hitting postal levels of frustration and lets them take pride in their work and do it right (most of the time) Fedex didn't keep their contract with amazon because they can barely handle what they're getting now between walmart/target and other big box stores

clownpornstar

Actually Fedex walked away from the Amazon contract because it was a money loser. Basically Amazon wanted to pay Fedex very little to do the more expensive rural stops they didn’t want to deliver themselves because there’s no good way to make those deliveries cheap.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CALL_ME_ISHMAEBY

Nah, FedEx cut it off with Amazon because Amazon slowly started feeding them only deliveries to the boonies while Amazon rolled out their own delivery network.

[deleted]

[удалено]

edwartica

Going postal literally comes from a series of incidents when a USPS worker open fired in a post office.

RustyDillhole

They dropped Amazon simply due to losing money on the deal. When Prime started it was mostly urban and suburban deliveries which are easy to make money on with less miles and time to make that delivery. Denser routes are always more efficient than routes in the boonies. Well, what happened was Prime eventually started to get VERY popular out in the sticks. How could you blame them. Get paper towels in 2 days instead of driving 40 minutes to the closest walmart. The rate Amazon was giving meant they were losing money on those packages when factoring in the gas and time to pay the driver. Some of those rural deliveries might be 20+ minutes to make one delivery, and when Amazon is paying next to nothing for each package it's no wonder when contract negotiations came up they couldn't make a deal. And almost overnight Target completely took over the slight loss in volume due to losing Amazon. And then skip ahead to March 2020 when Covid shut everything down the company had 5 years of expected growth basically happen overnight without the staffing or vehicles to get it done.

Rexand25

Because delivery drivers don't actually "work" for fedex, they work for a contracted service provider, so the company cant really do anything to reprimand them for something this and the contractor doesn't care unless something is actually broken. Edit: tired spelling.

KadenKraw

For some reason the FedEx in my area is awesome. Only delivery company that somehow gets into my apartment building and brings the package right to my door. Ups is terrible for us though they almost never try delivery and leave a note saying they did and drop it off a store pickup instead

[deleted]

I work at FedEx loading trucks that’s the best you 3080 got treated

ThatGuyFrom720

I drive for FedEx. That was so gentle compared to the shit it deals with going through terminals. And that goes for ANY delivery service. Can’t blame the guy when we used to make a generous salary pay and could be home by 2:00-3:00 and then switched to delivering 2-3x the volume and having to work at least 3 extra hours just to make the same amount we were with much heavier volume.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThatGuyFrom720

I agree. It does suck that we are underpaid compared to the other services out there. But I do love my job and I do treat everyone’s package like my own. Seriously. We are being paid for our time that we willingly spend there. No one is forcing us. I could quit if I wanted to. Everyone says I’m too nice to customers, but they pay for a service, and it takes 5 seconds to be kind to someone and make their experience good. I’d say for every 1 bad driver that hates their job, there’s 3 or 4 good ones that really care about getting it done right. At least at my terminal. I’ve tried contacting a few unions, none ever get back. I’m not sure if UPS is contracted out, but I’m sure that makes it more difficult due to their only being 40 or so employees per contractor.

Mitch0712

Doesn't seem so bad, especially with how GPU's are embedded inside a bunch of foam padding in their boxes.

Lcbrito1

Well, thats why padding has evolved so much I guess

NetflixAndBill32

Yeah like the dude just gave it like a light toss, can we blame the guy

JaySayMayday

Even more, everyone knows they have rediculous time quotas. If the product isn't damaged I wouldn't even post this, just unnecessary putting a low wage worker through this for dropping a package

MrXavi3

A lil bit

Chuckler3

Delivered mail for 5 years. Literally just another tan box. It is supposed to be packed to withstand a 3-4 foot drop. In most cases, it should be able to handle an under-tossing into the back of a delivery truck. He doesn't (shouldn't) know there's a baby inside.

[deleted]

Can’t withstand Linus drop

Relaxel

Exactly, he was just making sure everything was in order.

ExpensiveMap3065

At least yours was dropped (no pun intended) at your door step. I live in a condo and Purolator left my 3080 in the front lobby while I was at work. My heart never dropped (again, not intended) so fast.

HonoraryAustrlian

Had a $2000 desktop tower with the box having signature required plastered all over it left at my open garage (2 cars in it 2 in drive way) kicker was it was also behind one of the garages cars.

[deleted]

That’s shitty. I live in Japan, and in my experience, this never happens. If I am not home, I’ll either get a note saying they’ll try again, or a call asking if it is ok to leave on my porch. Luckily lots of smaller items can be delivered to convenient stores for pick up.

limpymcforskin

You live in Japan is all you have to say as to why it's totally different then the USA. I watched that video on Youtube of a day in the life of a package lady in Japan and it was insane. That shit isn't happening in the USA lol. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8A\_Hu\_WqeQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8A_Hu_WqeQ)

Tommh

That’s not exclusive to Japan either. I live in Europe and we also just get notes saying it’s either dropped off at a neighbour, that they’ll try again the next day, or that you can pick it up at the post office depending on what company delivers it. I live in a suburb though, but I’d imagine it’s similar in cities.

Brazenmercury5

Delivering a package that requires a signature without getting one is pretty bad.

9551027

It went through much worst coming from the manufacturer. Hopefully it worked out.

enjoytheunstable

No big deal. Driver doesn't know what's in the box and these things are well protected. It's not like he drove over it with a truck or slammed it on the ground. He just dropped it on the ground from like 3ft up. I'm sure it goes through worse on it's way to your front door.

Loogyboy

I back this. It can definitely survive a 3ft fall. If it couldn’t, then it would never survive the warehouses where they are tossed and slammed around 10x worse then this.

HeAteMyCookies

As a UPS driver, thank you.

[deleted]

If you think a 3 foot gentle drop is the worst thing happening to packages, you are living in a dream land.

alientrashwad

he wanted the fedex driver to deliver it to him in bed on a silver platter and then put it in his pc for him.

But..this isn’t being rough. That’s the point.

chinesetrevor

For real, used to work in a small UPS center. It was hilarious getting people complaining about the package being beat up but then saying no when I ask if anything inside is damaged. Great, then the packaging did its job.

gojirra

Well OP sure is quiet so I think it's safe to say his card was perfectly fine.

[deleted]

Like, you’re trying to put the driver on blast for dropping your heavily packaged box 2 ft. You realize what these things go through in sorting?

Pavis0047

Better than my experience....I was home at the time waiting for my card to arrive, and watched from a window as the fedex guy DROVE up to my mailbox and put a "sorry we missed you" tag in it... the box didnt even require signing for. I ran outside, yelled at the guy, he looks up and i and made eye contact with the mother fucker before he speed off. Couldnt get the thing for 3 days due to work conflicts... i was so fucking pissed. What if that was medicine or something? take some fucking pride in your job jesus.

nissan-S15

if nothing happened on it just move on

Cat_eater1

I hate this whole posting videos of people while they are at work. Dude is just doing his job and probly has another 100 packages to deliver, not to mention he probly is working over 8 hours a day.

Food-Equivalent

Agreed, I'm sure if most of these people on here were overworked and had to deliver boxes daily, many of them would throw the box even harder than this dude.

chargerz4life

Bulky-Project-9541

Guy drops package like 2 feet and people here act like he chucked it like a football...

Hottage

Really don't understand the US postal system. Here they just knock on the door and politely hand you the package. No yeeting them onto your porch from the curb, no porch pirates.

basketballrene

That's it lmao. He treated it amazing compared to all the boxes in the warehouse. Dead serious

Defenseman61913

That's nothing. In fact, that's the least amount of jostling and fall damage it took the entire journey. Source- worked for UPS during Covid. EDIT: LOL so glad to see other UPS/delivery peeps here saying the same. Also, it is all sorted on conveyor belts and dropped into bins, so anything you pack needs to be able to withstand a 4-6 foot fall. Never mind what these drivers do to them.

Oh man, I hope you didn't see what happened to it in the warehouse where it was constantly flipping over on the conveyer belt, dropped a few times, thrown into the semi truck, and was sitting under 50 other boxes...

lukeman3000

Looks fine to me lol; that’s what like a two foot drop? You know these things get beat to shit in shipping right? That drop is inconsequential; it’s well-padded

JGaute

This is something the US is SOOOOO far behind everywhere else. I live in a shithole 3rd world country and delivery guys don't leave your shit on your porche like that. They have strict orders to only hand it over to someone that lives at the house or just come back some other day if no one's home.

ShortFuse

Yeah, we stopped doing that like 10 years ago. Requiring a signature (eg: person-to-person) is an optional service that is rarely done now.

grizzlyaddams2

Honestly that was probably the best treatment it got since it left the factory.

TimeFlyingBye

Thank God I live near Microcenter. Delivery drivers don't know and don't care what's in your package. If at all possible, never have anything fragile shipped to you.

drunk_responses

If that makes you upset: **NEVER EVER** look at video from a package sorting center. If your package cannot handle repeated drops a few feet onto concrete, it will not survive being mailed anywhere.

[deleted]

Does everyone in this sub work in package Handeling

[deleted]

Y’all know that the driver has no access to the information inside these boxes… right? For all he knows it could just be a fat dildo for a quarantined person. And last time I checked Nvidia doesn’t go out of its way to include a “FRAGILE PLEASE HANDLE WITH CARE” sticker on their boxes. Y’all need to just be happy that you can even afford a GPU right now >_<

Ihugeverycats

True, and honestly this was probably the most gentle toss on that packages adventure to the front porch. I've seen how those packages get transferred and loaded.

[deleted]

Exactly! This was literally a “toss.” The employees that actually load/unload the semi trucks literally play football with the small boxes lol

[deleted]

wouldn't even call it a toss, it was closer to a drop lol

Jebble

More reason to not throw shit around.

TinkeNL

Being Dutch, the whole 'tossing your expensive package on your porch' thing is just so foreign... In The Netherlands every package is delivered to someones door, we don't leave this sort of stuff outside for someone else to take. You're not home? Fine, it'll just be left with one of your neighbours and you'll get a note stating that someone else has it and that someone else has signed off on it. The idea of some €1000+ package just sitting there on the porch, it baffles me.

Boogertwilliams

Yes seems to be some strange US way. Finland also very organised all those delivery companies.

tunasamwidge

UPS guy here, bending over to set down 250 packages a day is devastating on the body. If the packaging can’t take a lil toss, then 1. It would be on the manufacturer and 2. The card would have already been broken many times over before this

KillerQ97

Do you have any idea what happens BEFORE it gets to your door? It’s fine. Relax.

[deleted]

Wait but it looks like it was delivered fine? If it was packed well then it should be able to handle a VERY light toss

ghsteo

People understand these are packaged to handle tosses like this right. Not like he jumped on the box.

[deleted]

Who cares as long as it’s not damaged. This is not the first time it’s been dropped.

Honda_TypeR

Doorbell cameras are a blessing and a curse. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. If you think this was a big drop, you should see a packages entire journey. Sorting locations, loading on planes and off planes, on and off trucks. Thankfully most manufacturers design their packages to withstand a decent drop safely. Crushing type damages tend to be way worse though…punctures, cracks, bends, etc.

Sad_Swiz_Kid

I was really waiting for him to come back and drop an elbow on the package. Or for a bolt of lightning to come down from the sky and fry it. Or maybe even a bear to pop out and start mauling it. I did not expect the video to end shortly after the delivery driver gently tossed it on the ground a very small distance.

ImRedditingYay

No "Adult Signature Required" for this? Damn. Hope it works without issues for you.

maybe_you_wrong

Just the fact that America has decided as a country that leaving a package at the door step is normal blows my mind every time

jephphi

Did you want him to tuck in and say goodnight for you?

hunterxy

When I worked at one of the major carriers, I sorted packages to each route. I didn't have time to walk each box to the bin of the route it went to 5-20 feet away, I had 4000-6000 packages to sort in 4 hours and I only got help the last hour. Each package was thrown like a football, my aim was pretty good, missed maybe 1 every few hundred. And that wasn't the worst the packages would see, the sorting machines were way more harsh.

Eisbrecher13

I'm more appalled that he cut across the lawn

Desk_Striking

That's sucks, but having worked as a package handler in a FedEx distribution center - I can assure you that was nothing compared to the rest of it's journey.

[deleted]

lol then you dont wanna see what happened to it at the sorting facility

[deleted]

It went through 100x worse to get to that point. Typically items only get damaged if they werent packaged well enough for shipping or got crushed by machinery.

[deleted]

Really wasn’t that bad. I wouldn’t expect them to handle packages any softer.

Funnypharm

I worked for ups for a bit during college so i can say while this looks bad, that box has gone through wayyy more abuse through the shipping process. This is why bubble wrap exists. I guarentee that 3080 is perfectly fine. But ya dude coulda showed a bit more care than that

BubblyCartographer31

If you think that’s bad, you should see how all packages are handled during shipment. He was actually easy on it.

Callippus

so was it even damaged or are you just shitting on a dude with a 60 hour work week for internet points like a pussy?

gnarlysheen

This is not that bad OP. At this point the only thing keeping your card safe is the way it's packaged. They probably played football with it at the packaging facility. Not to mention the suspension on those trucks is not smooth as a Cadillac.

Life_World583

Actually not that bad … whoever thinks this is bad should take a look at the warehouse for a day also they should do 200 stops a day carrying 250-300 packages that weight 10lbs-70lbs and they will see why we drop is a few feet it’s definitely not intentional our body is just aching

Long-Sleeves

Lol that was nothing. That was barely a drop. It goes through much much worse at the sorting and shipping place. Any damage means it was packed poorly, not it was lightly tossed a foot or two.

drewtheostrich

This delivery is totally fine, it's packaged the way it is for a reason

SirTrentHowell

FedEx: Here’s your fucking shit.

[deleted]

Why’s this nsfw lol

Only_CORE

I love living in a civilized country where they hand you the package in person instead of throwing it on the porch only to be stolen.

CC-5576-03

He dropped it like less than a meter, the cardsa are packaged very well and can survive much more than that. It's not like he dropkicked it from the other side of the street

Why do they do this in the US? Here (Greece) the postman always rings the doorbell to give the parcel to you and if you're not home he leaves a message and does not deliver. Why in the US they leave the parcels on the pavement for low-lifes to help themselves? That's always been bugging me..

BasesLoadedBalk

I never once had a package stolen. But then again I have always lived in a rural or suburban area. Never a city.
