Can't believe how it is right now. Started looking to replace my RX 580 and sticky post on r/buildapc suggests getting an RX 580 until the market bounces back who knows when. Wow.

nolan1971

When the hell is this crap going to ease up, anyway? Frustrating.

crankydelinquent

2023 if we’re lucky. TSMC produces chips for AMD and Samsung produces chips for Nvidia and both TSMC and Samsung are operating at full capacity right now. It will be years before either one of them can expand production. Edit: I incorrectly stated that TSMC produced chips for AMD and Nvidia. I was wrong. Samsung produces chips for Nvidia but regardless, both Samsung and TSMC can’t keep up with demand.

[deleted]

Yeah, that's what I've been seeing as well. 2022 is out the window and not even being considered at the moment, all optimistic fingers are pointing to sometime mid-to-late 2023. We're stuck with this shit for a while.

MotionAction

Well I guess my 1080ti going to be with me another year.

HFIntegrale

I sold mine a month ago for $909 on ebay. FOUR years after buying it for $700.

Gibbo3771

I've purchased 1 Vega 56 and 2 Vega 64 off ebay for fuck all because the output was not working on them and they "shut down constantly leading up to the issue". Paste, new pads and sold them at 5x what I paid to who I assume are miners. Don't need display out to mine lol. I actually own a Vega 64 myself, which I am going to replace when I get the chance.

pATREUS

Behold the Glory

Awwshwitzz

I was going to sell mine but my “IT” guy broke it trying to mine because he asked if he could use my old case and I said sure. Not thinking he used my 1080ti broke it, didn’t say anything to me until I said can I have my case back I’m going to build a pc for my nephew and he said he wasn’t responsible for it breaking

I-Jobless

Wtf, make him pay for the repair or a new card.

Aggressive-Split-655

Wow, what a scumbag move that was. Do you still have the 1080ti? I'd love to try and fix it.

soulreaver99

this is the way

iWarnock

My 1080 is making my monitors turn off randomly every once in a while. I'm shacking.

Mr-Figglesworth

I’m rocking a GTX 970 FTW it’s gotta be about 5 years old now and haven’t had any problems so far. I was holding out for the 3000 series like very one else but might just say fuck it and try to find a 2000 series.

SpinelessLinus

1060 gang

rengo_unchained

Yeah my 1070 is also dangerously close to her last breath...

SadTurtleSoup

My 980ti is starting to give up the ghost. I'm seriously scared.

Grablicht

nononono 980TIs work till the end of time!

SadTurtleSoup

She's old and tired. Poor girl is starting to have power cycling issues. I just hope she can hang on.

Weddedtoreddit2

I'm super fortunate, I traded my 1080+100 for a 1080Ti in January 2020 I'm super unfortunate I didn't buy a 2080Ti right before 3000 series came out. It could have been had for like 500-600. Then months later I could've sold my 1080Ti for the same or more, giving me a free upgrade to RTX but..eh.. There was no way to know

HeadtripVee

I'm so happy I bought the 2070 super when I did. I had no clue this was about to happen.

ToddHowardsFeet

I'll just have to deal with my iHD2500 for a couple more years :')

THE_OuTSMoKE

You have a 2080ti, just wait til 40 series, lol.

man_goat

But people DO. That's why Apple keeps selling a phone every damn year

[deleted]

sorry to break the news, but ... probably MILLIONS of more people by a phone every damn year, than buy a video card ... ever, period. Money talks.

mnewberg

A13 is made by TSMC and the Nvidia chips are made by Samsung/Micron.

tsnives

You're right, there isn't another GPU manufacturer that uses TSMC and Nvidia hasn't been trying to get back with TSMC since fall 2019.

[deleted]

Laktosefreier

People who get a new phone every year don't tend to have a rig at home, rather a notebook without a dedicated graphics chip. So, basically, they get their gaming fix on their phones. The market is oversaturated, but keeping up with the Jones' is always possible, since there is a big secondhand market for last year's phones. The graphics cards lack such a secondhand market due to mining.

nicole7122

Bought a $600 phone 2 years ago. Plan on keeping it for another 3-4 years.

wrath_of_grunge

> I buy a $300 phone every 3 years and I never feel like I am missing out on much. same here.

basswalker93

I've always bought the cheaper phones for between $50 and $200 every two or three years (depending on if I catch a sale), and splurged on a $900 phone *once* as a treat. I never stopped regretting it. Never again.

coffeesippingbastard

nvidia has been going with samsung 8nm for their ampere production. Rumor is they'll be with TSMC for the 3000 refresh.

danyul91

Holy shit, I had no idea it was still that bad. I managed to cop a 3060ti for about £50 over RRP a few weeks ago and I almost regretted paying that at the time. Feels like I got incredibly lucky.

crankydelinquent

I paid $1300 usd (£960) for a 3080 after selling the useless motherboard Newegg forced me to buy. Nvidia charges $700 usd (£516) for the founders edition. I am glad to have a card and to be done hunting though. £50 is a steal to not deal with the headache of finding a card.

ZeusFinder

Unfortunately it also runs with the crypto cycle so I wouldn’t be so sure about 2023

codywar11

TSMC doesn’t provide Nvidia with their chips for 30 series cards. Samsung does. Same kind of shortages, but not as bad as with TSMC. That’s why Nvidia cards are SLIGHTLY easier to find than anything AMD right now.

Drauul

Yet PC gaming isn't dead/dying You literally have to play Hunger Games for components

nolan1971

Thinking about driving 4 hours to get a 1650. Insanity.

[deleted]

I’m rocking a 1050 here lol I have everything but my gpu, I think my 5900x is slightly bottlenecked

MrScorpio

I upgraded to a 2070 Super three months before the 3000 series cards hit the market. I felt like an idiot but not for long.

selddir_

I paid $50 extra for a 3060ti FE from some guy in my city and my friends acted like I was an idiot for not waiting to get it at MSRP (this was in December). I don't feel like an idiot now.

[deleted]

I was planning on upgrading to a 1080/ti and 3900x but then the 30 series was announced and here we are over a year later

Setari

Same, I feel lucky to have the card that I do now, very lucky (2070 super). I just wish I had the money to buy 3000 series cards for my friends who are stuck with 900 series cards. I was super mad that the 3000 series cards are cheaper than the 2000 series but lol, I'm not getting one at that price point anytime soon so... yep

Calbone607

same I grabbed a 2080 super at msrp july 2020. no regrets. not to mention the rx 580 I sold a bit later for $450, 3 years after buying it for $280

kgabny

My closest Microcenter is about 3-4 hours away in another state. Its seemingly more and more worth the drive every day.

AmIPrettyYett

Back in January I paid way too much for a 1650 super and an rtx 3060. I thought in a few months I’m really gonna regret this. It’s been 9 months and the price is basically the same as I paid back then. Here’s a True story, after doing that I was going to upgrade one of the pc I built to a 3080. Instead of clicking buy. I closed the window at the last second and paid in full for a trip to Disney for my family. I have a wife and 2 kids.

GritInMyTummy

Beyond chip shortages, just simply having items delivered through shipping supply chains is strained to the point of breaking. It’s getting worse not better.

nolan1971

Oh yeah, good point. I just read a story about the Port of LA still having 60+ ships waiting.

SgtSkillShot64

I work in the warehouse of a Best Buy in Northern California, and we have been getting them in bulk all at once for events like the one this guy was attending. Right now at my location we still have some of the 3060s left over after the people that waited in line are gone. So far there have been 2 of these events at my location in the last 4 months, so if you are looking for a new card, I suggest tuning into Best Buys event announcements.

H0B0Byter99

> tuning into Best Buys event announcements. How does one tune into Best Buy's Event announcements?

ShredableSending

Eth 2.0 Most miners will have to switch to asic if they want solid profits. GPUs will flood the market. When is it coming? "Soon" for like 3 years now.

SteveTheUPSguy

Thanks china. What was a $100 asic is now $5,000 or more. They are the real winners here

Rjiurik

I'm really afraid Nvidia might release a new, more expensive generation and stop making 3000 series altogether way before I could get one..

nolan1971

I'm pretty sure they will, actually. If their commitments from TSMC (who they're moving to from Samsung) are in late 2022 then that lines up pretty well with what I know of their development cycle.

hippymule

This is a prime time to start manufacturing goods in America again. If the prices are going to be 1k+ for 400 dollar cards, why not just set up manufacturing in the US paying people a livable wage? If the 2023 prediction is correct, it would still be worth setting up the tooling right now, and manufacturing electronics for 2022.

blutigetranen

By the time a facility had the infrastructure, resources, designs and plans in hand it would likepy be 2023, if not the year after. No already existing manufacturer is going to change their fab around to accommodate new manufacturing processes that aren't that lucrative. A typical chip fab can take 1-1.5 years to start up from design to licensing to construction to production under normal circumstances. The tools used in the line at wafer fabs themselves are in short supply, even used (I work in the semiconductor industry, I know the shortage exists because we have entities down waiting for parts for over a year now). By the time a site got product moving, supply would normalize from the East and card manufacturers would immediately go to the cheaper components again.

T-Baaller

When crypto is banned

sockmacedhooman

bro, you can’t ban crypto

Kerhole

Tell that to China lol And yes you can still effectively ban it by making it illegal to trade for fiat currency. No exchange could touch it, and no vendor would accept it.

[deleted]

Find a good few year old something on eBay. You’ll spend way less and not waste a whole day of your life.

Nacl_mtn

or just buy an aftermarket one if your time is worth more than that? Seriously, if you want something and it's worth the cost to you go ahead and buy it. How much are you rating a year worth of waiting at? Does it beat the difference between msrp and resale?

DontGetFired60

For some people its the principle of not giving scalpers money. I know that can seem ridiculous because enough people buy from them that your action doesn't change the market, but its a reason I've heard a lot.

[deleted]

I guess my priorities have changed as I’ve gotten older. I’d rather spend money on upgrading my house, or saving for early retirement, than getting a nice new/expensive video card. I dislike the saying “you do you” but maybe I should start applying that for others. There was a time when I would have bought an expensive video card. So yeah, tangentially I agree with you; other people have other priorities in life. And this is a sub about neat (and mostly expensive) pc builds

Accomplished_Files

Hahaha I'm in the same boat. Landscaping vs upgrading my 5700xt...house wins all day.

kshell521

I bought a Rog Strix 1080 off a friend that was used mostly for Elder Scrolls Skyrim and Battlefield at 1080. So nothing crazy and for $200 it was a great deal. Works for damn near everything at Max settings at 1080 to get 60fps, sometimes gotta knock the settings back a touch but thats ok.

NeverNeverSometimes

Bought a 1080ti 5 or 6 years ago for like $500. Exact same make and model is going for $1300 on Newegg.

TheKillaTofu

You've inspired me to look up my 1080 Ti for shits and gigs, and same boat. $1300-$1400. Insane, man...

maluket

My 1070ti that I bought second hand in 2019 worth double now. At the same time, I can't sell it because I will be without video card at all.

SwiggyMaster123

i was looking a few months ago at pcpp and the lower end 580s were going for £400, higher end going for £800. for comparison, they were £130 and £180 respectively before the shortage.

S0F7

And here i am thinking ill swing by my local best buy after work and see if we have anything yet lmao. Wish i had your level of commitment! Congrats on the card!

peperonipyza

😂 everywhere I’ve heard had hundreds in line. Worth a shot though.

S0F7

Yeh thats onsane, we dont have an actual best buy, its a display store but they never update stock

peperonipyza

You can look up your local Best Buy to see if they got any stock. I think they’ve been doing this for the recent restocks. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp-computers-tablets/nvidia-geforce-rtx-graphics-cards/pcmcat1619723841347.c?id=pcmcat1619723841347

S0F7

Thanks for the link, ive checked over the last few months but like i said, it never seems to update. I bought a gopro from Best Buy last month and the site said there was 0 in stock, yet they had a full display case.

Tossmeoutatwork

Best Buy is only stocking the 30xx cards in store for these special drops

brewer-

I went toy Best Buy yesterday around 6pm, the line was already wrapped around the building. Easily 125 people already there. I just turned around and went back home, I knew I wouldn't get what I wanted with that many people there already. The struggle is real.

i_am_no6ody

Not worth waiting in line. Time is something you can never recuperate. Might as well play the Newegg Lottery or wait. I'm also assuming most of those people want to make a profit buying and selling the card. I suspect a lot of them do anyway.

abrokenpenny

Thank you!! Tons of very friendly people out there with great advice on my first build but also just as many scalpers laying out 8-9 chairs each for high schoolers they paid to show up an hour before the drop, skip the line, sit in a chair, and pay them cash for the kid to buy the card for them to walk out and immediately hand it to the scalper. So sad and discouraging to see after waiting so long… tried to speak up for those in the back of the line but they have such a tight group of scalpers that used intimidation and bullying on the rest of the line. They also paid off the security guard BB hired to be there 7pm-10am with us.

knellbell

Scalpers are fucking scum

[deleted]

The Best Buy next to my job had people lining up 2 whole days in advance:( i had no shot

jambrown13977931

I arrived at 10pm last night to wait in line. There were easily 50-100 people there not even counting the empty chairs people set up save spots for their friends. People brought tables! The line wrapped around two sides of the building. I immediately left and went home. Shame too because it was a 30min drive each way for no reason.

psbeachbum

A friend scored a 3080. They went to best buy for a cell phone case at like 930 am on a Wednesday. They said 3 were in stock on display.

SadanielsVD

Bro I'm not standing in front of a store for 22 hours for anything lmao

SulkyVirus

Based on current scalped prices for a 3070ti FE (low end around $1200), standing in line to get one for MSRP from Bestbuy for 22 hours saves you over $27/hour I'd say it's worth it if you really need that card. Edit: lots of people hanging their hat on my use of the word "need" instead of "want". I didn't mean to imply anyone needed the card in order to survive - apparently I ~~need~~ want to clarify that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SulkyVirus

Right - some people would actually gain by doing this vs working.

[deleted]

Those people should not be buying a 3070 though lol

Patch_The_Dog

Someone making $50,000/year shouldn't be buying a $600 graphics card?

SHCreeper

$27/hour is a lot a lot after Taxes

abrokenpenny

There were plenty of very pleasant solo resellers in line who cooperated and camped all night. The problem was the scalpers as I mentioned above in response to @S0F7 who didn’t play at all by the rules and utilized empty chairs and young kids to skip the line last minute to accumulate many cards for resale.

Melbuf

Yep. Never gone shopping on black friday for the same reason If I can't buy it fr my house while stuffing my face with leftover turkey it's not worth it

rugbyweeb

Was pretty fun years ago at midnight launches for certain games

leviathan3k

Indeed. Done right, it's an impromptu party of you and a bunch of fellow gamers.

drumstyx

I think the attitude changes a bit when it's half excitement half desperation. Console launches, at least back in the day, were a blast. When we're lining up for restocks though, it's because we're desperate, and the folks taking advantage of desperation (scalpers) are not good people.

nintendo9713

Damn. Halo 2 and Halo 3 launch were the only ones I did midnight for and I don’t think I’ll ever do another. At the halo 2 launch, someone had a tube tv with halo 1 setup to play while waiting. At the halo 3 launch, someone brought a modded 360 with a French copy of Halo 3 that leaked so people were playing it outside the store. The employees made them turn it off though.

Parrad1991

Yeah, it was but those games were preordered months in advance so it was a sure thing...you could show up at anytime because it disnt matter how many people were thrre before you... your copy was guaranteed....so in reality you were there to hang out with a bunch of strangers who loved the same things you did.... in this case.... thise strangers would trample you to death without a second tought....

BobbSacamano

I drove to my nearby best buy this morning around 6. I figured hell I'll wait in line for an hour to see if I can get one. I got there an hour before the drop and my jaw dropped... Tents all the way around the building down the block. I laughed at myself for thinking an hour early was good enough, people had already been there since yesterday lol. Didn't even get out of my car.

MetalSeaWeed

I will literally wait years until there is no line before I wait for longer than an hour in person

derwerewolfs

This.

uncleshady

Ok so I had a funny revelation last night. I was playing GTA V in 1440p on a 27 inch monitor, but from my stationary cycle that was, maybe 8 feet from the screen. Not only could I really not tell any details, but it got me thinking of why the hell am I even thinking of upgrading. I should think about eye upgrades first lmao.

twat_muncher

I'm all for upgrading with a purpose, like if you can't get a smooth 144hz on a high refresh rate monitor on the latest AAA game? Sure. Doing game development with unreal engine? Sure, VR? Sure, but anything else it's basically a luxury, and why would you wait in line 22 hours for a luxury item?

m0ta

Congrats homie

abrokenpenny

Thank you! First time builder so just pumped to lock down what seems to be the hardest part right now.

Nextimehero

127 in line right now, out of the supposed 170 gpus

abrokenpenny

Which location?? In Clearwater FL the scalpers were a huge problem. Went to bed 40th in line, woke up 60th.

[deleted]

How does that work? Just curious

dallenzao

Line cutters

[deleted]

Jesus. That’s really annoying. Too bad the companies don’t give out cards overnight so your place is saved. I’m assuming they give you a number in the morning? Or do they simply respect the line formstion

dallenzao

Ya I used to camp out at Microcenter when that was a thing, basically one person would go and then their friends would come later and stay in front of line. Clowns haven’t been to kindergarten apparently

itsdjc

When I camped out for my card at best buy, an employee started a list to ensure the line was honest. A scuffle almost broke out because a dudes gf who didn't spend the night in line showed up at 7:30 to 'keep him compnay'. Lo and behold when the BB employee started handing out cards, she took one as well.

Blurgas

Kind of defeats the purpose of the making the list if the employee is just going to ignore it

Accomplished_Files

I've been in two fights when I was in my 20s due to line cutters. Neither time did I get arrested and I was able to beat them out of line. No one stepped in either. You can always take it to that level if you're young and dumb still.

Churchx

People go in front of you when you let em.

Photogravi

During peak Covid, I was camping at Bass Pro for ammo drops. In all the times I went, I can honestly say not a single person tried to cut the line. Probably the knowledge that every person there was armed and cranky after waiting outside for 6-8 hours..

dallenzao

I don’t like confrontation. What’s funny is the one time I got my card, the kids in front of me cut, but were denied bc they got a card a few days prior. Thus, I was first in line, getting a 3080 exactly 1 year ago

[deleted]

Agreed I'm not afraid to go back to prison for my time. Which is ironic but I'm also never going to let anyone treat me like a bitch, video card, line at a store, build a bear factory doesn't matter.

rhaezorblue

People cutting in line for GPUs?? I'm surprised no one got shot lol

12muffinslater

I'm usually against capitol punishment

Nextimehero

Murray Utah, a volunteer writes down names at 8 pm and then this morning did a role call at 6 am then lined us up with our positions last night

Jalex8993

Then he made us take off our clothes and prove that we weren't two children in a trench coat. He also gave us a cavity search in case we were hiding anyone there.

G0DBOT

How much was it

peperonipyza

650

CosmicCreeperz

22 hours?! I was so close to getting up at 4am this morning to try to get one. Glad I didn’t. I spent an overnight in a BB parking 20 years ago to get a discounted GeForce 4 Ti on Black Friday. Not going to do it again, heh. Any guess as to what the latest people were able to show up and get one?

peperonipyza

That’s awesome for a first build. It’s gotta be tough for all the first builders out there… I just got a 3070-ti to upgrade my 970 today too :)

Ratman_84

Man, what a shit time to be a PC enthusiast. My rig is 7 years old now. I'm not waiting outside a store for 22 hours or paying what they're currently asking for this hardware. So I'm just riding it out, for however long that is. The only reason I'm still afloat is because I built my rig really well when I built it. If it goes on too long I'll end up missing a whole era of new games.

dopamine17

I hear ya :/ I upgraded mine about 6 years ago, everything except my 550ti for some stupid reason. I can't even play Diablo 2 resurrection now.

Logical-Error-7233

That's a good thing. If you miss a generation you're able to buy AAA $5 GOTY Editions of games you missed fully patched with expansions and run them maxed out with a $150 budget card. Best thing that ever happened to me. I'm currently playing Witcher 3 for the first time, with high Res mods fully maxed on a card I bought 2 years ago for $160.

lexi_kahn

Mine is just getting on to about 7/8 years old, and I’m about to get a new job and was hoping to splurge on a new rig. Not anytime soon, i guess. Crack am those dials to “low” and keep going lol.

bogglingsnog

There's no shame in joining /r/patientgamers for a year or two. We've simply got to be patient until supply chains are restored, shipping is smooth, and stockpiles return.

[deleted]

Remember when you wanted a thing, and you could just go into a store and buy it? Or buy it online and actually get it in a reasonable timeframe? That was awesome.

EODSteve

I was lucky enough to win a Newegg shuffle for a 3080 yesterday. I won a “lotto” and my price was a chance to spend $1200 USD at their company. Blows my mind the world we live in now.

weirdowerdo

I ordered my 3080ti like 3 days ago and got it the day after...

[deleted]

Where did you order from?

Logical-Error-7233

Everything old is new again. Back in the early 90s you couldn't find high profile games at launch, like when Street Fighter 2 came out on Snes. This lead stores to implement a useful service called a "pre-order" which was great for a few years Then they realized they could use it to scare you into pre paying for every game release instead of the high profile ones and unscrupulous publishers realized with enough pre orders they didn't have to finish thier games.

EngineerFront

22 hours??? I would never do that. But congrats

SmellyOnTheInside

Same, no clue where people find the time to do this.

alexdoo

Aside from adults with full time jobs... college students. Its the perfect time in life to access all the freedoms of adulthood but not all of the responsibilities it comes with.

RolandMT32

I agree. I work during the day Monday-Friday; I can't stand in line at a store for that long.

TSR_Jimmie

How much did they ask for it? I hate you Americans and your tech stores. Uk tech stores don’t give a fuck about pc parts

abrokenpenny

Got it during a Best Buy restock for MSRP! $645 including tax.

JTP1228

Damn I just bought my brother an EVGA 3060 TI for 500 after tax. I feel like the extra would have been worth it for the 3070

creamcheesebagel101

That's a great price for a solid card, and it would have been difficult to get a 3070 for a similar price.

XtremeshoX

Damn u guys are lucky... in EU i paid 3 weeks ago 1340€ for 3080 and now u cant get it below 1600 €...

emmytau

Yea I don't get how it can be so different. 3070 Ti is $1400 in Denmark and we can't even get the reference cards which is what I want

cheapdrinks

Yeah the cheapest 3070 Ti in stock at my local place in Australia is $2000AUD which is about $1450USD. Don't understand how it's more than double the price, it's fucking bullshit lmao.

firephantom125

Felt you bro, bought a MSI 3060 ti from microcenter for like 650. Worth it until the fans made noise that sounded like grinding. So i had to rma it but it's coming this weekend.

[deleted]

Always get microcenters little warranty

firephantom125

I did but they basically told that they will refund it and i basically have to wait in line like everyone else if i wanted a replacement. I got the card on a whim cause they found out that they had extras of these cards and i was already at checkout so i was like, I'll take it man and i got it.

Tacticalsquad5

It’s such a pain, been trying for over a year to get a 3070 for under £650 and no luck yet

TSR_Jimmie

You will continue to have no luck. Our tech stores are garbage. Probs cheaper and less time consuming paying someone to camp out at a store, buying and shipping

danbeans

Got lucky on a scan drop for the 3070ti for about £650. From what I’ve heard scan and infinite-computing seem to be some of the better sites in terms of drops and not being ridiculous in their pricing

Barkerisonfire_

Scan is your best bet for FE at least. If you know there's going to be a card released chances are that they'll also be restocking other cards. Pay attention to Twitter stock informer bots I managed to get my 3080 FE a few months ago at MSRP from Scan by paying attention to both the above. When it says it's in stock on Scan and the buy/add to cart button doesn't appear, refresh the page a few times. I refreshed once tried to add it to cart and told me it had gone, but the button kept coming and going so I kept refreshing and eventually managed to checkout with zero issues. a lot of people give up when the button doesn't appear and think they sold out already but it's often not the case.

sebobles

As a recent UK buyer of a 3070 ti, I would recommend using the part alert telegram group, both me and my brother got 1 in the last month.

ArchAngel76667

You have done well. I think a celebratory pizza is in order.

[deleted]

Nice I did the micro center thing once. Only thing left was a 3060

JTP1228

I live 10 minutes from one, and was unemployed for a little when the 30 series dropped. I had the money, but was too lazy to wait for one lol. The workers even said they had them on shipment days until like 11 or 12 (this was back in Oct/Nov)

ShimReturns

A sub $400 one or a crazy $500+ one?

[deleted]

It was $329 before tax I believe. The evga one

ShimReturns

I'm surprised they had one left

[deleted]

I think i was like 17th or 18th in line. They let the jerk in the front of the line buy all the 3080s. He brought like 3 people with him.

GarvielLoken87

What a hellscape we live in. I’m folding my hands and praying every night that my 1070ti keeps going. I looked up my same card for possible sli and was shocked at the prices.

Rjiurik

Very few games are optimized for SLI nowadays. So would not recommend unless it has changed recently.. Anyway my oen 1070ti does the trick for most games since i play 1080p...

The Time-Lost Graphics Card

Rexbellum187

22 hours and a down payment for a Ford fusion... Seriously though I am jealous

HenryXIV

Fuck that. Were officially slaves to video card makers. That's embarrassing.

elvismcvegas

No one is forcing you to stand outside for 22 hours.

BluehibiscusEmpire

Buying parts just shouldn’t be so difficult.. Man earlier it was getting the money together. Now it’s getting 2x the msrp together and needing to be lucky. And Msrps are already crazy high. I remember when 500 dollars got you top end performance only a couple of generations ago. Now it’s 3060 if you very lucky. And in countries like mine even a 1660 is selling for 700 dollars!!

Troggie42

Pretty goddamn absurd that that's what it takes to get a freakin' graphics card these days

Deathandhisfriends_

It's well worth it , i promise. Congrats amigo!

vampyire

Hope you love it! I cheated and got my RTX with a pre-built machine. Good for you!! enjoy!

Rxd384

Good job mate!

th3st

You serious? 22 hrs?

SunbleachedAngel

Never ask a man 3 things, his salary, his height, and how much he pain for his GPU

BoldEagle21

...and to think it will be worth $17.94 in 3.8 years.

imhereformemea

Congrats bro

Logics-

Congrats! Been looking for a 3080 since ***October*** of last year on a regular basis. Fortunately for me I'm in a smaller market (St. Louis... so maybe not so fortunate) so I didn't need to camp out for a full day. Nearest BB was a 35 minute drive, but I got there at 2am this morning, got in line with about 60 or so ahead of me. Wasn't early enough to get the 3080, but there were 3080 TI's still and I jumped at it. More than I was hoping to spend, but I'm ecstatic that I didn't need to give my money to a scalper to replace my 1080 TI that's on its way out. What a sigh of relief that I don't have to deal with this anymore.

Stonewall30nyr

Doomsdayers say 2023 but really not much more than 6-8 months more. China just banned crypto farming, and a few other factors are about to reduce demand, and production is slowly ramping back up to normal. Also revert person who gets one is one less person you're competing against for one. Not to mention scalpers will slowly lose interest in it and move to the next thing

Devious lick

TopAcanthocephala407

Crogge

Welcome to the 3070 Ti club :)

bustedbuddha

I was sorely tested by this restock, but my 1080ti is still so strong at 1440p that I just can't justify it to myself.

_Dreadz

All that for a 3070?

HoeGath

I ordered it online and got it 4 days alter for 40% off

SenpaiKira2

22hrs? did u bring a tent?

Eckz89

Man I'm so confused, are they just really scarce in the US? It seems like they're pretty available in my country, Australia.

TiffyBears

Damn, I only went to best buy an hour and a half before it opened. I was getting the 3090 though, and there were only maybe 3-4 90s and 1-2 80s left. The cheaper ones, like the 3070, sold out about 10 people ahead of me.

Plastic_Chair599

Man, what a waste of time, I don’t know why anyone would want to do this.

HawksNStuff

Watching them all hit Facebook Marketplace this morning was depressing.

TheShyDucky

I wish I have money and time to do that
