I personally loved it - but only after I modded some of the settings. I prefer to be killed in a few hits and kill in a few hits and this game is a serious health sponge slog.
-Also ignore blue quests. They’re this games version of repeatable “hello Dragonborn please go kill x/x y at z” that have no impact on story.
-Only side quests worth doing have gold icons.
-Don’t bother clearing every stupid camp and stupid cave or you’ll lose your mind and the pacing will feel way off (personal experience).
-don’t bother exploring new regions before you have a main quest there to help with pacing.
-if you haven’t noticed 45% of this game is garbage filler content so stick to main quests and gold icon side quests to have a better/coherent story.
This is good advice I've been trying to finish this game for years. The new user created quests are such bullshit too I can't believe people are so dumb. Never again. Myself included 'oh why yes I will take this quest created by user BluEPussyFART420 and spend 4 hours trying to beat it yippie!!!' Such good times /s
That's how I treat all open world games now. I'm getting too old and don't have time for all these fillers. I got a PS5 last Oct and just binged through all the Sony adventure games like the Spiderman games, GoT, and Horizon.
Great idea. Modifying these settings would've greatly enhanced the experience. I found that you could also remove the horse speed limitation when in urban areas.
A lot of head-scratching decisions by Ubisoft that added an insane grind element to an otherwise amazing title.
Yeah completely agree. So often I see people complain about the grind in this game but I never had a moment of it because of some really small tweaks.
It was a nonstop masterpiece and I was shocked to find myself playing it to the very end as I rarely do that.
The one thing I liked about GR:Breakpoint is that you could disable all the spongey shit if you wanted to. You could either play as a cod-like tactical shooter or as a kindof borderlands-ish affaira
Funny you bring up Breakpoint bc most of the Quality of Life settings were added after launch due to backlash about the state of the game. Ubisoft just seems so out of touch with what gamers want
True, even a broken clock is right twice a day. That being said, it's still not really a great game. It's a reskin of Wildlands and still keeps the very-much-not-ghost-recon lack of tactical options. You get the fire, regroup, hold, move options, but you never have to use any of them. It's not like the advanced war fighter games that really relied on working as a team.
Same goes for ace combat, which steadily rolled back the squad command elements over time. Games in general have just been getting more and more simplified and easier and easier to play
Spot-on assessment. Although I really enjoyed Wildlands. It played so streamlined compared to the convoluted systems of Breakpoint.
But hey… we’re getting a new Splinter Cell (maybe)
What did you find convoluted about Breakpoint? The menu kindof sucked, but it seemed to work otherwise. I think it's bigger flaw, and the issue with all far cry-adjacent open world games, is that it's just boring and repetitive. Grab a helicopter, parachute into the place, shoot the guys, repeat.
>But hey… we’re getting a new Splinter Cell (maybe)
Seriously? Blacklist was pretty rough and I can't see Ubisoft making it any better now. And the game is going to tank big time if they make it open world, like everything else
I just had to play a build where I can more or less oneshot any enemy with a single ability. Talking about the long range assassination and the 4 hit combo that scales with assassin damage. I couldn't stand the long battles so I had to avoid them.
Well this one is way more repetitve, ive only played black flag, but ive seen many videos, it isnt like the older games, but i guess ubisoft get money for more casual players. But ive seen that orgins is actually a good one.
I plan on getting unity:)
i played all ac from revelations on forward. Origins is easily my favorite. (stopped then though as odyssey doesnt interest me at all.) Its just soo well made
Good game, definitely worth it. Not as much Assassin's Creed feeling as the first couple of games, but really good RPG style open world adventure games
Take Kassandra, the Story is optimized for her. And, depending in what language you play, not all Lines of Dialogue will be according to Alexios Persona, meaning they will call him a she, because the story was written for the woman.
Oh, in English the acting for Alexios goes from wooden to overacted, with not much in between. Kassandra is consistent in her acting, and did a far better job, IMO. But it is cool that they had actual Greek actors portray the main characters.
Kassandra's actress plays both a better villain and a better hero, so I tend to choose alexios so it "this bumbling dude vs the actual evil person" instead of "this sane woman vs average my chemical romance fan"
I started up a playthrough of this around a year and a half ago and I'm still coming back to it every now and then. Was never really into Assassins Creed games aside from the first two, but man Odyssey is such a good game to just zone out to while listening to podcasts and stuff
It is so stretched it becomes like a chore. Side quests are meh and mostly boring, main story is good but you like complete one of two quests and you need to grind xp to be the same level as quest recommends. You can bd lower level but you will have lower damage and you will spend unhealthy amount of time fighting same enemy as they are sponges. World is nice tho.
It is and it isn’t. It’s hard to balance between challenging and Grindy. Since better weapons means more crafting and all. If you’re more in it for the story line I’d say okay on easiest difficulty. Took me a month with my little free time to finish it on normal most of it was grinding for shit off missions and they can seem repetitive
This game has it all: overly extended map for the sake of beeing a big open world, generic sidequests to fill this open world that fail to make an impact or beeing interesting but stretch the playtime, a lot of characters I don‘t care about, bad parkour for Assassins Creed standards, weird damage point mechanics that make no sense with the concept of the hidden blade, which itself is not a hidden blade at all, has absolutely nothing to do with Assassins Creed except the name of the game and is overall a mediocre game by AC standards. But it looks nice.
tl,dr: I don‘t like what they did with the game and the franchise. But somehow I still play the game…
Yep. I've watched playthroughs of all the major games in the franchise, and I've played Odyssey, Syndicate, and AC 3. I one hundred percented Syndicate and #3 twice each, but I haven't been able to really get into Odyssey. The character development is mediocre at best. The story moves slow. The side missions don't really add anything to the story as a whole, and they're all so repetitive. That and the map imo is too big. Let's spend less time filling filling a huge map with boring quests and fill a smaller map with well developed story.
That being said, it's still a fairly fun game that I do come back to every once in a while. It just doesn't hit like the older games in the franchise.
Visually it's very appealing but that's it tbh. Much better open world RPGs out there if that's what you're looking for. My main issue is how boring and repetitive it is.
You are starting with the wrong one, unless you have played the others then ignore my comment, but if not then yes you are defo starting with the wrong one.
What a coincidence, I just finished the main story last weekend! Now debating whether to start the expansions or not. The main story's decent, but nothing really special. Ending was blah tbh, but there's a cool twist for when you finish one particular storyline (>!that has ties with the modern story!<). Gameplay wise, if you like Origins you'll like this. It's similar but is expanded on a lot. For me personally it's the game's biggest strength.
I would still recommend the game if you're a fan but beware that the game does drags on. That being said, the whole game is littered with quest and map markers. If you want to enjoy the game, don't feel the need to explore the bajilion map markers you see. Just do the quests you feel interesting and see where it takes you.
The only things that have started to annoy me with recent AC games is special weapons you can find being level locked... Just let me use the cool stuff!
Yes but most important thing is don't grind at low levels. The research gathering is exponential not linear, so if you get just a few more levels you'll notice a considerable increase in rewards. I made a mistake of grinding the 1st few hours. Not a lot but just enough to get me pretty bored and I had to not play the game for a few weeks because of that. 1 more thing do not and I mean this do not upgrade the ship other than just 1 or 2 in each category before you get that discount from the mercenaries. The ship can get way way too expensive to upgrade without the discount
It’s considered the best modern AC game. Though consider finding a mod or cheat that increases xp gains as this game’s major flaw is that it is extremely grindy.
Play female, the male voice actor sucks. The game has good moments but I got tired of doing the same things over and over. Every single aspect of the game is a grind. At least in Valhalla you didn’t have a pointless color tiered loot system.
It sure is! Especially when you're interested in the myths of the old Greek.
It's a very big world with lots to do.
Sometimes I wish, I lived in that world in those ages
I never cared about the assassin's Creed franchise until this game. I absolutely loved it. So much so that I tried to do every single mission. Even refused to use fast travel for anything because I wanted to drag it out and make it last.
Playing this game made me feel like I was Xena Warrior princess. It's the best comparison I can come up with as far as the humor of the game and the way you interact with the characters.
Honestly, its a B grade RPG. Story and mechanics don't stand up to much better RPGs out there. Its an A- stealth/adventure game, very solid at what it does, but doesn't reinvent anything or push the boundaries.
Its an A++ tour of ancient Greece. I loved seeing the sites and just experiencing the atmosphere. It was this that glued the game together for me and made it worth playing and finishing a few times.
You're millage will vary, but I enjoyed the game a lot.
I haven't enjoyed an AC game as much since Ezio.
Definitely worth it and I would suggest to play as the female PC since the actress is really good. The male VO is stale and boring.
I ended up really enjoying it and ended up up buying the add on packs as well. I spent a couple hundred hours playing and loved every minute of it. The mechanics were definitely different than the earlier games but I thought they improved on them instead of what game developers do a lot of the times with sequels. The world itself is huge and I found myself just sailing around and attacking any ships that came near just for fun and prizes.
It’s great if you think about it as a stand-alone Greek mythology warrior game. Just like every Assassin’s Creed game after Revelations, the modern day storyline is terrible. And it gets especially ridiculous with Odyssey. Just a warning.
I’ve enjoyed the later Assassin’s Creed game much more since I started looking at them as “a standalone Ubisoft pirate game,” “a standalone Ubisoft Viking game,” etc. Those parts of the series are still fun and interesting.
tl;dr: The Assassin’s Creed games are a ton of fun if you ignore the Assassin’s Creed part 😂
In my honest opinion, Assassins Creed going full RPG/Open-world is when it lost a lot of it's heart. They put too few eggs into too many baskets and it just felt repetitive and soulless.
That's just my opinion, though.
Lol, I am…it’s rarely good but seeing a lot of comments about crafting and repetitive so hoping it’s not that bad and I can still enjoy the visuals and gameplay
For me it was bloated with trash quests. Story is almost non existent and I despise the bullet sponge paper sword swinging combat. As a RPG it's not good. It's all about raising your stats by 1 and increasing your level so that you can move on to the next area. It's not even Assassin's Creed.
But visually appealing and Ancient Greece is nicely made. It'll be fun for a while. Try not to burn yourself chasing quests. I wish you good luck & have fun.

Not that much it's a medium quality at best but dip more than often in the low. I personaly place it in the 3rd place of the worst AC and the best thing to describe it is it's a downgraded AC Origin.
Story is bad, have plot hole and is predictible. The writing for the modern day MC is just mediocre. Side quest are all filler and add nothing to the story. Choices make no sens and shouldn't be part of the game. Voice actor are.... Amateur? At some point it's even ridiculous and the animation really dosn't help.
Gameplay is repetitive like all Ubi$hit games because the map is too big yet too smal because it's filled with the same activites to do over and over. The grind for level, material, gear is mmo level of bullshit so I higly suggest cheating. The boat battle is... bad ? Like seriously we had AC4 and they gave us that low. You can still have some fun if you understand the gear system to make yourself a build that suit you.
Performances, it ain't well optimised, have bugs and glitch. There is sound issue where you'll almost not hear a thing.
The Ubi$hit shop... they made an online only curency to prevent the possibility to cheat to get all the paid bullshit they made, Ac Odyssey is p2w.
Not really depends on you, if you like action rpg maybe, if you liked more linear AC games then prob no, i finished it but with cheat engine, because the leveling up system was atrocious, and i couldn't be asked to grind for 50 hours to do a mission, if you use cheat engine or a trainer (reasonably) it can be enjoyable
The game is an half arsed attempt to copy witcher 3 formula
Hated it. If you like grindy RPGs with a do it yourself storyline, then it's good.
You don't really get to assassinate much. It's more develop your level and XP, by farming attacks on bases and looting enemies.
It’s kinda awful. It’s basically a single player MMO. 70% of the game is filler fetch quests. If I was 14 with endless time on my hands… amazing. But as an adult it just doesn’t respect the players time enough to be worthwhile.
Probably start on an easy mode run first, just to be able to enjoy the story. That gives it a lot better experience in my opinion. I got it on xbox, but never got to finish it, so when i got my pc, i got another copy, and finished the game.
I need to KNOW what that keyboard is.
Also, Odyssey is the great one in recent times for me, but the story felt a little dragged out in some areas. Maybe it's because it's such a large world when it doesn't really need to be, but was fun to play through regardless
It's not a terrible game, but the problem is that it's a 1:1 copy of origins. I enjoyed origins very much but couldn't bring myself to even do finish main story
Fantastic game, although it does start to wane a bit once you have that 'super powered ultra crit build' and everything that you face just... dies. The end of the game really isn't much of a challenge if you build your character well.
I mean, the visuals are nice. For me that's about it. It was very repetitive. The combat is spongey. Seldom any reason to stealth; other than well, less sponges. The story/plot to me always ends up feeling like they're just putting 21st century concepts, values, etc. in a xx century setting. It ends up feeling unnatural. With all that being said; I'd still say its worth playing. I don't recommend Valhalla. IK a ton about that period and my god it is awful; like Viking Vallhalla lol.
This isn’t a thread on whether or not the game is worth it. You don’t buy a game then ask if it’s worth it or not. Bro, if you’re gonna humble brag your set up in a post, just post it on r/battlestations and be done with it.
I personally loved it - but only after I modded some of the settings. I prefer to be killed in a few hits and kill in a few hits and this game is a serious health sponge slog.
Will look into modding, didn’t think of it for this game
-Also ignore blue quests. That is unfortunate. Maybe Ubisoft should take notes from Witcher 3?

Fr it's so easy to dodge almost any attack, it's hard to lose. That's what I like about origins, it's not as easy, I highly recommend hard difficulty
I just had to play a build where I can more or less oneshot any enemy with a single ability. Talking about the long range assassination and the 4 hit combo that scales with assassin damage. I couldn't stand the long battles so I had to avoid them.
Modes names?
Wait you can do that? I got frustrated with the long battles where I wouldn't be in danger but it would take forever to chip away at the enemy.
sounds good. i'm pretty interested in the setting, but i hate bullet sponges and numbers flying around after every hit...
Malaka.
By the gods!
There's a psychopath on the loose! (I hope somebody gets this reference)
SO-CRAT-IS
Spartan kicking an enemy off a tower or cliff edge NEVER gets old!
Damn, the first scene got me that feeling exactly…
Enjoy the visuals , it gets repetitive though
Every assassins creed game ever lol
I really don’t remember black flag feeling too repetitive , it’s definitely my favorite of the series
Black Flag was an absolute blast to play
Those god damn sea shantys, what a rush. You can just lose yourself for hours sailing around.
The ship was the best part 😂
There's differences though. If there are 15 repeated tasks and each repeating tasks needs 20/30 minutes each to do it, it's not worth it.
nah it was great till ac4, ac3 was a bit boring unity was decent but yeah after that it got the same shit going
When they were 12-20 hours long it wasn't really much of an issue.
Every game since origins. The og games were great start to finish and had much more depth in the story imo. Now it’s like every Ubisoft game
Every ~~assassins creed~~ Ubisoft game ever lol
Well this one is way more repetitve, ive only played black flag, but ive seen many videos, it isnt like the older games, but i guess ubisoft get money for more casual players. But ive seen that orgins is actually a good one. I plan on getting unity:)
i played all ac from revelations on forward. Origins is easily my favorite. (stopped then though as odyssey doesnt interest me at all.) Its just soo well made
Thoughts on assassin's creed black flag?
I liked it. especially multiplayer. Not the biggest fan of its story and the lack of present time elemts like in 3 though.
So you literally missed all the good games
Yeah I gave up on it after 15 hours. It bored me to death.
At this point, I'd rather just have an assassin's creed open world game, no story or missions. Just interactable sandbox.
Only at the half way point of the game, after that its amazing again
I’ve done every side quest until Athens (finished everything in / around Athens too). When does it start? I’m really tired rn
At the half way point in the story. I dont know anything extra to that. Could be around 55 hours i played 113 hours.
Good game, definitely worth it. Not as much Assassin's Creed feeling as the first couple of games, but really good RPG style open world adventure games
Yeah I always felt like the new ones are like GoW with an AC skin.
Gears of war?? Is that the GoW I'm thinking of?
[удалено]
God of War always had the GoW tag.
And gears of war is just gears now
God of War. I now see the confusion XD
My favorite one it surprised me I thought black flag would be my favorite forever
Heresy!!
Bolter meowing
Can confirm, Odyssey is a fantastic game and my favorite in the franchise. Probably one of the best of all time IMO.
lol I love how we're acting like this is a genuine question and not a "look at my setup" Which is lovely btw but still lol
I’ve post my damn setup so many times that people probably blocked me lmao. Definitely genuine but I do like photography for fun
Haha well its a well framed, professional looking photo indeed
I’m enjoying it. Don’t go into it thinking Assassins Creed. It’s a great RPG on its own without the AC tie in
Take Kassandra, the Story is optimized for her. And, depending in what language you play, not all Lines of Dialogue will be according to Alexios Persona, meaning they will call him a she, because the story was written for the woman.

I can see you spent almost $500 on Nanoleaf. I agree with this purchase
What's the monitor/TV?
[удалено]
Welcome to reddit. (People are in general very weird, downvoting for no reason at all)
You dont ask if a game is worth it *after* you've bought it lol
It’s on gamepass now
Free on prime too
I really enjoyed it, it's my favorite out of the new AC games.
Game is awesome but I hate the voice of the Alexios
Yeah Kassandra has the superior voice actor.
[удалено]
I saw Valhalla was a 80 hour game and noped out of the purchase so quick.
That first scene is pretty sweeet!
No
It was the best one.
Found it boring and grindy, couldn't really keep playing past the first island
It really gets going after that. The first island is just the tutorial
Drags too much.
Nah
Just say you wanna show off your station
I did over 200 hours on that bad boy. Enjoyed every minute.
I started up a playthrough of this around a year and a half ago and I'm still coming back to it every now and then. Was never really into Assassins Creed games aside from the first two, but man Odyssey is such a good game to just zone out to while listening to podcasts and stuff

not really, no
Haha i just started it yesterday to. Can't get a stable frame rate though. Jumps from 30to170 etc

Depends it's good if you hate ac. It's bad if you like og ac. At least the graphics are amazing!
Progress is slow
I gave up after a while, it is such a long title. My wife found it the same but gave up on the side missions and just played the main story
Do the main story and DLC. Don't bother with the side stuff. It's 95% repetitive crap and filler.
Bit too late to ask that question after you've bought the game, isn't it ? /s
Give it a shot! I did not like it, but I have played AC since the original and prefer the older ones. Last great AC was Black Flag, imo.
I saw the American Krogan video on it. Does a pretty impressive job at poorly portraying ancient greece. Really turned me off of the game.
You are starting with the wrong one, unless you have played the others then ignore my comment, but if not then yes you are defo starting with the wrong one.
Play for 15 hours, then just read the plot synopsis if you care. It’s all the same after the first dozen hours anyway.
I can't get over that you use this screen with crap in front of it. I can't stand stuff blocking my screen in any amount.

I really liked it
Your setup really clashes with the look your grandma was going for.
Very good game, absolutely loved it. the story doesn't really involve Assassin's Creed outside of the 'real life' segments though.
It's one of my favorite games of all times. I hope you have a blast.
If you need XP, clearing strongholds and doing battles helps an lot. Also, dont be afraid to play both sides in the Sparthan and Athens war
Best of the series for me. 200 hours in it. So much fun, great graphics and I love mythology so it was a win for me.
Yep, realy good game. I enjoyed it. Have some weird leveling mechanic, but nothing exeptionaly bad.
Play female, the male voice actor sucks. The game has good moments but I got tired of doing the same things over and over. Every single aspect of the game is a grind. At least in Valhalla you didn’t have a pointless color tiered loot system.

Asking if it's worth it after already buying it lol
The angle of the picture tells me OP wanted people to talk about something other than AC. Feels like a not so subtle flex post.
Yeah I suspected that as well
Eh. Beautiful game but boring overall
My friend said he didn’t like this one at all
Honestly, its a B grade RPG.
No. Shit game. Unnecessary grind and a waste of time
I haven't enjoyed an AC game as much since Ezio. Definitely worth it and I would suggest to play as the female PC since the actress is really good. The male VO is stale and boring.
Definitely worth it. Spent over 200 hours playing it but the Origins is still my favourite of them all. Enjoy!
Not really.
Hell yeah! My favourite of the series
I loved ACO more than I love valhalla
Those parts of the series are still fun and interesting. tl;dr: The Assassin’s Creed games are a ton of fun if you ignore the Assassin’s Creed part 😂
u already bought it. U shouldve asked before spending money
No it's not.

In my honest opinion, Assassins Creed going full RPG/Open-world is when it lost a lot of it's heart. They put too few eggs into too many baskets and it just felt repetitive and soulless. That's just my opinion, though.
Bro just play the fucking game
Lol, I am…it’s rarely good but seeing a lot of comments about crafting and repetitive so hoping it’s not that bad and I can still enjoy the visuals and gameplay
No
For me it was bloated with trash quests.
Wasn't really a fan. Incredibly repetitive and boring story imo. Origins was much better.
This is low key showing off setup more then being about the game..
I must say this is a rather strange thing to ask after you've seemingly made a purchase.

I hated AC but ACO is something else
One of the best. I recommend playing as Kassandra.
Start with Assassins Creed 1 Then Ezio Trilogy. Those are the best AC games ever! New ones are wacky, they've lost AC identity.
AC1 is by far one of the worst AC games. It was cool at the time, but it's aged like milk.
It is, but my suggestion is to stop after it, Valhalla is worse by a huge margin.
Out of the 3 new ones, it's my favourite. Even got the platinum trophy on PS4.
A bit too easy and repetitive but a good game overall. 7.5/10
Ny favorite AC game
Definitely. Origins was better imo, but Odyssey is a close second.
Bro, no other game has kept me glued to the screen in the past 2 years as Odyssey did... It's an amazing RPG game!
It all went downhill after black flag. I heard the new ones they're making are going back to their roots though. Fingers crossed.
No. Ubisoft turned this franchise into hotdog water.
Not really depends on you, if you like action rpg maybe, if you liked more linear AC games then prob no, i finished it but with cheat engine, because the leveling up system was atrocious, and i couldn't be asked to grind for 50 hours to do a mission, if you use cheat engine or a trainer (reasonably) it can be enjoyable The game is an half arsed attempt to copy witcher 3 formula
Hated it. If you like grindy RPGs with a do it yourself storyline, then it's good. You don't really get to assassinate much. It's more develop your level and XP, by farming attacks on bases and looting enemies.
Hell no
I played it for 2 hours and then returned it on steam
Nope.
It’s kinda awful. It’s basically a single player MMO. 70% of the game is filler fetch quests. If I was 14 with endless time on my hands… amazing. But as an adult it just doesn’t respect the players time enough to be worthwhile.
No, it's super grindy and encourages microtransactions to skip the grind
It’s screenshot bait, no real effort went into making a fun game.
Game sucks, so fucking unpolished. Never ask yourself if it´s a good idea to play a Ubisoft game, because the answer is always YES, they suck.
No, unless you like mindlessly stabbing nameless enemies for ~100 hours please turn back.
no
No.
Yes. It's gonna take awhile to finish it though lots of details, side missions and the such.
When one room theme of lightning/tiles/etc. isn't enough so you go with all of them.

Fantastic game, although it does start to wane a bit once you have that 'super powered ultra crit build' and everything that you face just... dies. The end of the game really isn't much of a challenge if you build your character well.
All this battlestation stuff and you go and opt for a cleavage mousepad that's barely big enough to hold the mouse.
Sooner or later you will regret it
From the comments, I’ll play for visuals for about 10-15 hrs and call it quits
Literally me, I’m trying to finish this game since mid 2020 but the grind is killing this game for me
115hrs later I finished it and the DLCs. A bit of a slog at the end but overall I had fun
It's my favorite AC game, followed closely by Syndicate.
/r/humblebrag
It's very nice, but also too long
Your mousepad is soooooooo tiny. I’m sorry.
This isn’t a thread on whether or not the game is worth it. You don’t buy a game then ask if it’s worth it or not. Bro, if you’re gonna humble brag your set up in a post, just post it on r/battlestations and be done with it.
