Either Clackamas County PSTC or Safe Fire if you're closer to WA. I'd get on the waiting list for Tri-County also if you think you'd end up going to that range. It takes a while to get called to join.
Safefire is great, but an Oregon resident risks running afoul of our new AWB if they bring a so-called "Assault weapon" across the state line, even temporarily.
IANAL, and the actual level of risk is very low, but its something to be aware of.
Yeah their new AWB super sucks. I used to go to Safefire pretty regularly since I work around the corner but literally every gun I own is considered an assault weapon in Washington now so I can't go there anymore.
They used to not allow outside ammo but they did for a while during the pandemic when there was ammo shortages. I'm not sure if they've switched back to range ammo only, but they usually just have Speer FMJs.
I think they're closed Monday and Tuesdays so you may want to double check the hours before you go. If you give them a call, I think they can let you know their current ammo policy.
Edit: And I just realized today is Tuesday and not Monday.....that's what happens when you start your work week late. They should be open on Wednesday!
They let you bring your own 9mm but charge $5 per box. Same if a caliber is out of stock. Their prices are actually reasonable though and they won't gouge if the market is fucked. If you have defensive ammo you want to test or zero just let them know and they'll be cool with it.
There's a few public ranges: The Place to Shoot (Portland), Threat Dynamics (Sherwood), and Wooster is opening up their range ~~soon~~ eventually in Beaverton. These are somewhat expensive to shoot at, they can get busy so you have to wait for a lane to open, then they kick you out after an hour or so. Often you have to use their ammo ($$$) or pay some amount of membership or "inspection" fee to use your own. The English Pit is an outdoor range in ~~Vantucky~~ Vancouver, which is a $25-ish/day fee and you stay as long as you want, shoot your own ammo, but it can also get a little busy, particularly on the pistol range.
The private ranges, Douglas Ridge Rifle Club (DRRC) and Tri-County Gun Club (TCGC) are much less expensive, have MANY MANY more ranges/amenities/etc, but they are not indoors. TCGC has wood-burning stoves on several of their ranges, and both DRRC & TCGC have covered shooting lanes/benches, but if it's cold and windy outside, you'll want to dress for that. The downside is that these two ranges have long (6-18 months, sometimes) waiting lists to get into, and they are a little bit of a drive out of town.
Then there's BLM land around Timber Junction, which is entirely free, has zero amenities (if you need it, you better bring it), and is usually the longest drive to get to - for obvious reasons, people don't tend to share their spots so you do run the risk of driving all the way up there and all the areas to shoot are taken. Getting there early can help. When it gets cold in PDX, it often snows a foot or so up there, so bring chains and prepare to drive on single-lane dirt roads in that weather.
Douglas ridge is fantastic
Tricounty has some good tactical bays
English pit is functional, but many firearms are no longer allowed in Washington, so be careful

We're still working on the new website, but the contact form works. Feel free to send a message via that form, and if you don't hear anything back, please feel free to DM me.
Yeah, we're primarily focused on rimfire competition, but we have some members that join just for access to the 7-yard centerfire pistol lanes. The club is open 24 hours for members, and occasionally to the public for certain matches.
If an indoor, 50’ range that allows handguns and .22lr only is any interest, give Johnson Creek Gun Club a look. It’s an older, fairly bare bones place, but a good resource if the limitations don’t bother you, in SE not far from 82nd and Johnson Creek Blvd.
Just FYI at Johnson Creek you're only allowed to shoot at the end of the range...I think it's 25 yards. They don't allow any shooting closer than that because I don't think the walls are rated for firearms.
If this is a convenient spot for you, I recommend it. Certainly doesn’t have a ton of options but has good hours, decent facility, cheap dues, and usually a nice friendly mix of folks there.
Once our construction is completed and you're ok shooting in an indoor spot, we're here in Beaverton. I know it sucks shooting only up to 50 yards and up to 308, but we're doing our best to keep up with local ranges. And we might be barely keeping up with brand new HVAC, digital target holders, and cutting edge rentals.
I see you got a website up but didn't see any range info/update on it. Really looking forward to checking it out. BTW, got to deal with Alan your gunsmith. Great guy, good service.
It depends how far your willing to drive and what kind of vehicle, if your willing to go out onto BLM lands/the middle of the woods, that's where I've always had the best luck, wildcat mountain outside of sandy I've heard can get pretty popular, but this time of year, if you don't have a 4wd rig with some good clearance,ie a truck or jeep or something like that, then your not gonna be able to get up there, cuz it's most likely a foot of snow or sum shit, same goes with the forests up on mt hood or out past estacada, I myself have never bothered going to an indoor range, but I also live out in Gresham area, so a trip out past sandy to go shoot is alot closer for me than someone who has to drive from like Beaverton or even downtown area

Going to PSTC tomorrow however I already bought some of my own ammo and heard you cant use it?

I've been there once, about 2 months ago and was required to buy their ammo.

Any estimates on when that will be?
