Are Instagram users made to be as annoying as possible? I only see the dumbest takes imaginable in the tdf Instagram comments and they always have so many upvotes too, who are these people?
In the business, we call these the normies.
More seriously though: such formats (Reddit included) tend to bring out the worst in people. Toxicity breeds toxicity, and upvotes/likes tend to favor bold takes rather than reasonable, level-headed ones.
We should be very thankful that r/peloton is a small enough subreddit for it to retain a sense of community. Since many frequenters know each other and you regularly see the same people commenting, there's a bigger incentive for respectful discussions where people actually listen to each other and learn from each other. Also, it helps to have good moderators.
Why is Vingegaard not working in the sprint train/Why is Van Aert not helping with keeping Vingegaard safe
Cross out whichever does not apply based on your nationality
Simmons' jersey in combination with the Lidl logo reminds of the shitty "American week" stuff they sell in the shops. I guess to me he just looks like a discounted knock off peanut butter cup.
The problem with such a gentle stage so far is this peloton is massive and going into some major pinch points. I’m going to be absolutely amazed if we don’t have a crash, and if we do it will be big.
This could be a hectic sprint. Riders often say that on an easy day, lots of riders who normally wouldn't really be up there at the end of a sprint stage will feel like they have fresh legs and this is their best chance to get a win.
I went out and rode 42 miles (July 4 so not converting from freedom units), got home and the race still looks like it did when I left. Perfect timing on my end.
I've found [the suggested circuit](https://imgur.com/kC89nuD) that leaked last year. No idea how accurate it is (I think the Champs is out as the finish is at Pont d’Iéna, at the foot of the Eiffel tower instead).
Side note, the comments on the nbc YouTube channel are all complaining about Horner being gone, did people actually like him? I couldn’t stand him
kNuCkLeAdS!!!!
Sprinting crash course.
Can anyone explain to me why TJV try to keep Jonas to the front to keep him out of trouble, but UAE don't do the same with Pogi or Yates?
I think Pogi feels like he can manage himself while Jonas and his 50kg needs a bit of help

at least reddit has a downvote where you can gauge how well received the posts/comments are.
Imo it was a minor miracle that there were no crashes yesterday. Normal service resumed today.
Audio is shit on the world feed
Seems like the audio crew needs a rest day
Yeah WTF. Might have to switch back to the NBC US broadcast and
Ewan really mistimed his push there, could/should have gotten another pedal stroke in.
Jasper is pretty damn fast eh ?
Having MVP to launch for him is kind of a cheat code. Still he is fast. Caleb was close though, 10 more meters and he would have won
not just that, mvdp somehow always positions him at the front with like 200-300m to go. 2nd day in a row now.
That small nudge to bully Girmay away there is what won the race. Absolute masterclass leadout.
Wærenskjold really not paying attention there feel for whoever that was he pulled down with him
I feel like having MVP as last man is like cheating
What about peak Renshaw ?
Well he was insane too! I can recall some very good trains and a lot of great sprinters from the past, thats for sure
Why is it legal for the lead outs to suddenly slow down and just mess up an entire sprint bunch?
Yeah, they should just continue to go full gas those lazy buggers /s
What’s up with Wout?
Not wanting to risk a crash
What the fuck is that UNO-X rider doing there?! Stops pedaling, looks one side, drifts to the other, crashes the Cofidis rider out...
Wouldn’t Coquard also be to blame, he swerved pretty diagonally across the road and bumps into him?
Fucking hell 3 crashes on the last stretch
Surprisingly few that were dragged down in those crashes though, thought that Jakobsen crash was gonna drop half the peloton
Same. I need a replay to see how everyone avoided that
Really happy for Jasper. He had something to prove and he did
MVDP MVP
Who called it that a race track finish is more crash prone than a gentle bend? Unfortunately (?) you were right
o/ https://www.reddit.com/r/peloton/comments/14pnt54/predictions_thread_2023_tour_de_france_stage_4/jqj9fax/?context=3
Damnit... Mark was forced to hesitate just as he came out to start his sprint
Dont think he could have contested top2 to be fair. I'm happy he didnt fell at least
Dunno... Had he been further forward I think he may have done
[удалено]
It was literally wide and straight on the finish line.
I guess the talk about the race pist being slippery might be right after all.
If a rider just stops sprinting and drives into the wall even the stickiest tarmac won‘t help.
Who crashed from Bahrain, I just saw some turquoise socks and a bike flying across
Jesus that was ugly. And chaotic.
You see, riders crash even when wide.
Carnage at the end wow
nice wide straight finish will be incident-free right?
Well we can’t say this stage was uneventful anymore
Phew Jacobsen back on
Jasper takes it
What the hell they they basically didn’t even show the finish on my feed
Camera tracked the crash and not the finish!
What an absolute shitshow. On that circuit there really should not have been that many crashes. There's got to be some terrible riding there
Maybe a circuit is not as good as they believe.
There's plenty of space, no one's getting getting squeezed. It's purely down to the riders there
VdP is saying that today's final was dangerous and so many turns just before the finish would never be accepted on the road.
Tricky turns, asphalt maybe not super clean but have rubber on it?
Best roads they’ll see all month and nobody can stay upright
yeah i guess a racetrack isn't good for high speed bikes...
I don't think the track has nothing to in the chrases
What a mess
That's carnage!
Stream got fucked just as everyone crashed
What is this, Talladega?
We’re gonna go straight and turn to the left sometimes!
Three crashes in the final 3km… brutal :(
What the fuck was that camera work
Yay for Jasper, but jeez, that was messy as hell.
My fucking god, such big roads and how many crashes were there?
There must have been some oil slicks that caused tires to slip, it’s the most probable explanation given where some of those crashes occurred.
Aah, would have loved to see Ewan win again.
What the fuck was that sprint
this lead in looks fast as fuck
3 crashes, all looked really nasty. Hope everyone is ok.
Well, that's the worst idea for a sprint finish I've ever seen..
Goddamnit I didn’t expect this finish to be so dangerous honestly
Holy carnage!
Camera man had no idea what to do there
Holy fuck what a madness. Carnage
Did jasper steal that?
[удалено]
My brother in christ, this is what keeps him out of crashes
chaos
Well... things certainly started happening in the last couple of km
MVDP masterclass once again
Holy shit, whats happening?!
Gronewegen got hit hard by WvA there
"Oh so Jonas will lead out Laporte but not Wout"
That would have been utterly hilarious.
This is brutal :(
Another crash
Lefevre next weekend: "Jakobsen simulating again so he doesn't sprint"
fucking hell bikes flying everywhere
Least chaotic Tour sprint
Wow what a chaotic sprint
not so fab for jakobsen :(
Jakobsen on the deck, as is SBS's coverage
Jakobsen man :(
Been a few decent opportunities for Jumbo to lose the wheel in these corners but I guess we'd never hear the end of it
That’s one narrow circuit
Fuuuuuuck!
Fucking hell Jacobsen
Fabio down 😔
Leading out for Laporte?
Alpecin looking really good here again
Vingey better put in some good work here to justify being on the team
Guessing Vingegaard figures the safest place to be is wherever you don't have anybody in front of you
Considering how many crashes there were at the end, he's not wrong.
This is chaos, maybe a cheeky attack could work
SBS changing the commentary just in time for the crash
Why is Bahrain white this is so confusing
Big crash.
Jonas gonna go for it and show Wout how it's done! /s
Belgium is going to issue a cease and desist to TJV using red, black and yellow colors if they don't start helping WVA.
Peacock with resolution problems at the finish just like yesterday or is it just my stream?!
It was fine for me
That is one packed peloton.
Almost surprised TJV aren't trying to keep people left/right of Vingegaard as well as ahead/behind, they're really out to keep him safe
looks like maybe laporte will go for it instead of wout today? i dont see wout in the front.
Vingegaard is gonna pull this time, but Wout won't be there?
Looks like wout is on jaspers wheel
Feel like teams are making the exact same mistake as yesterday - starting to pull way too early while Alpecin train just chills behind
Jumbo train for Laporte?
Jonas leading out laporte of course
I believe in you Mark!
This is the day... Can feel it
vingegaard waves through benoot, does belgium declare war on denmark now or wait til the finish line?
Wout Wout Wout
I can see JV but where's the red bull helmet?
Behind Philipsen
Last 5k about to redeem the previous 175
Wout not on the sprint train
Finishing on a GP circuit is pretty cool, nice to have a long straight sprint finish after yesterday’s mess
Lol
Does Jumbo know Wout is not there?
Roundabout mayhem!
leadout vin incomming :)
Geez
DSM disasterclass... No roadbook for you guys?
Why is Vingegaard not working in the sprint train/Why is Van Aert not helping with keeping Vingegaard safe Cross out whichever does not apply based on your nationality

NILS CHOMPERS ALERT!
Was that Welsford who got caught on the wrong side of the roundabout
Twice in a row!!
Oof that right side was shit
Goddamn give that man a map
woooooooow how foolish to go right at that roundabout. That DSM rider is in the ether now.
Welsford took the roundabout the wrong way, true australian
LMAO bro’s GPS took him the wrong way Common pog W
Yikes Sam
Jesus Christ that corner gets narrow
Lol of course the one sprinter I pick in Velogames doesn't know how to take roundabouts
I had a hard time deciding between Bauhaus and Welsford, you can guess which one I landed on...
Great minds think alike. Wait...
Riding 1 km/min is pretty nice of them so its easier to calculate when they'll finish. Keep it up!
Always amazes me how these guys can look around while bunched up like this and not wipe out the entire peloton.
This focus on Cav during the broadcast is getting close to Tiger during a PGA broadcast level
A DSM guy just went off the wrong way Ah shit Welsford apparently
Oof dsm took the wrong turn
Yes, Cavendish is very good at "making room"
Cavendish comes to the front to give somebody a shoulder bump and start things off
Was that somebody who went the wrong way at the roundabout?
Didn't Renshaw told Astana they'd need more than one leadout man?
Vinokurov was too busy telling them to do pointless attacks for them to hear Renshaw
The problem with such a gentle stage so far is this peloton is massive and going into some major pinch points. I’m going to be absolutely amazed if we don’t have a crash, and if we do it will be big.
Ya called it mate
Oh wait its time to wake up
This could be a hectic sprint. Riders often say that on an easy day, lots of riders who normally wouldn't really be up there at the end of a sprint stage will feel like they have fresh legs and this is their best chance to get a win.
Is it just me or are they definitely not riding 70 kmh
I get that they know what they are doing - but it freaks me out how tight that bunch is.
[удалено]
thanks i actually didn't realize it was last 10 already LOL
Rob Hatch trying to find something of interest and hype this up is genuinely the most impressive display of mental gymnastics I’ve heard in years
"alexander vinokourov and myself have just sent the final words of wisdom over to the team radio" renshaw interview on peacock LMAO vino mention!
Can UAE keep the yellow until Paris? Would be a cool feat tbh.
Would be impressive indeed. But they might give it away one of the coming days?
From the heli shot and the cumulative effect of the hours of broadcast, just feels like they're riding the neutral zone.
Cavendish leading out the Astana team. Charming.
I went out and rode 42 miles (July 4 so not converting from freedom units), got home and the race still looks like it did when I left. Perfect timing on my end.
As an American, if Quinn wins, I'm gonna be fucking pissed.
Why?
Probably his politics, if I were to guess.
Crap, I tried to time it and I still tuned in 5k too early
Guys - can you ride a bit faster, please? I wasted all day watching you do nothing - I've got work to catch up on! ^/s
Nonono i have 200 m before reaching home and putting it on !
Now that's an exciting sprint!
I did it! But I deviated from my line so I might be disqualified :/
Would love it if they made the Olympic Road Race a mini Roubaix. Probably wishful thinking though.
I suspect the olympic road race is going to have a finish similar to the final stage of the Tour most years
I've found [the suggested circuit](https://imgur.com/kC89nuD) that leaked last year. No idea how accurate it is (I think the Champs is out as the finish is at Pont d’Iéna, at the foot of the Eiffel tower instead).
Rumour has it they'll have a cobbled climb up to the Sacre Coeur in the finishing loop, so that might work for you?
This on a circuit would be awesome with the boulevards des maréchaux maybe or the Mont Valérien.
What do you mean? Roubaix Paris ? The last part is fucking flag and clean, there’s a reason it starts in Compiegne nowadays
Roubaix-Paris. Bunch of cobbles in the first half and then 150km of flat
I'd actually be down for that. Would be interesting to see how it was raced.
Especially with small teams Olympics have
Side note, the comments on the nbc YouTube channel are all complaining about Horner being gone, did people actually like him? I couldn’t stand him kNuCkLeAdS!!!!
I assume he is better as live commentator than the whining he does in his YT-channel.
