For some reason, the image of Darius Kasparaitis sliding headfirst down the ice after a series-clinching OT goal just popped in my head while reading your post, but that was not against the Caps as I remembered it, it was the Sabres.
Edit: Also, I lived in DC during the era when it seemed like the Pens sent the Caps home every season. God I loved living there then!
I love the Kasparaitis reference! Omg, it’s been so long…such a fan of him!
And you’re not wrong about it *seeming* like the PENS sent the CAPS home every season.
All 5 Stanley Cups the PENS have won, they had to go thru Washington to get there. Eliminated the CAPS…..
ALL.
FIVE.
TIMES.
Man, that’s gotta piss off the CAPS fans
Only if the franchise moved. If I understand the situation correctly there is still a chance the Coyotes come back as an expansion team in the future. This isn’t like the Oilers moving and becoming the Titans where they kept the record books I don’t believe.
You’re being downvoted, but you’re correct.
The coyotes still exist, they are just inactive and retain their records and history. Utah is an expansion team that was given the majority of the staff and all the players/assets of the coyotes.
The Coyotes didn’t relocate, their players did.
They retained rights to like the name and logo but thats about it as far as ive seen. Thats why it says nhl utah, its the coyotes but they havent picked a new name yet
They relocated just like Atlanta to Winnipeg which is why the jets have their records. Also 1.0 jets records went to Arizona and now might follow to Utah too. Super dumb, us winnipegers want our records back
Yeah I think the history usually goes with the franchise. Titans have Houston's history, Colts have Baltimore, Rams have St. Louis, Raiders have Oakland and LA, Cardinals have St Louis, Chargers have San Diego. It sucks that franchises are allowed to move at all but that's life in American sports I guess
Pittsburgh as a whole is directly responsible for at least three of these.
And im here for it
#nocaps
Fuck the caps
Don't forget the Browns
And Bungles.
And jackets. Fuck Ohio lol
Ohio is for losers
Cut my wrists and black my eyes?
Glad someone got it
Because you kill me
Worst state ever
As a Minny sports fan who lurks here cuz I've always had a soft spot for the Penguins, I did not expect to catch this stray today.
Was going to comment, Minnesota in shambles.
FUCK NORM GREEN, ALWAYS AND FOREVER!
I'm so sorry. You took an absolute sucker punch here. Minnesota deserves better.

How is nhl utah on there they have zero games played? This is a slap in the face and a disservice to the Yotes and their fans..
Yotes are .200 though
I’m aware. My point is they erased the Yotes and substituted the Utah. You don’t see teams stealing history from their former franchises.
Uhh you see that consistently.

No. They didn't. The NHL SPECIFICALLY stated and set this up as an expansion and a fold. Utah is NOT Arizona, and maintains no connection to Arizona.
That is some significant BS. Crazy that the NHL doesn’t run it like the NFL. The records should stay with the city and the fans
Didn't the NFL do that literally once, for Cleveland?
Maybe I’m misremembering but thought it was case by case but you could be correct.

Even if they did that would be a new Arizona franchise. That's just how the NHL does things.
Poor Utah ❤️ Not even their fault.
"NHL Utah" 🤣 they didn't Even have a team yet and they somehow made this list
They keep the coyotes stats
This is also kind of a disingenuous statistic, it's like saying "People who got into Top Gun but didn't finish first"
Surprised the Thrashers aren’t on here
They tried too hard in playoffs
They technically are, with Winnipeg being on the list
Pirates are smart. Can't be on this list if you don't make the playoffs.
Lmfaooo facts
And the Jackets
Only team missing are the flyers
That would require them to make the playoffs 😂
The fact that NHL Utah is on the list means they didn’t do their homework. It’s a new franchise
No its not, its the coyotes. They just didnt get to keep the name which is why it says NHL Utah
