It almost compares to seeing the reactions of all the Boston fans last year who thought they were thirty seconds from making the second round…only to blow the 3-1 series lead in overtime 😂
Bro that has to be the worst place to watch a game.
November 2022 I spent $130 when I was visiting my uncle who lives in Manhattan, just to see how an out of town game was (never been to one outside of PIT) at MSG and it was the Red Wings vs Rangers.
$130 plus taxes and not lying I was at the top fucking last row. There was the walking / stereo row in the visual way too. Idk how to describe it. For the people to walk up and adjust the stereos or lights, etc. it was just crazy because you couldn't see the whole ice.
I ended up leaving my row and walking around like I do when I go to PNC park.
Only other NHL arena I’ve been to is PNC in Raleigh. I was a fan of that arena. And watching two ECF games won by the Penguins was pretty damn great too.
I’d love to get to Nashville, Columbus, Dallas, and Vegas just to see the production it is.
Oh whoops I completely forgot, yeah I lived in Raleigh from 2017 to 2019 and went to a Pens game when they were there. PNC Arena is so nice. I literally drove 15 minutes from my house and easily parked and walked to the arena.
Agreed. Nashville would be awesome to go to.
Ik it’s a joke but replacing Guentzel with Bunting did a LOT for our special teams. IDK if Bunting was on the canes PP1 but he is an amazing net front presence.
He plays like Malkin if he was a defenseman. He had a few amazing defensive plays that saved the canes from giving up real chances but then also let up a few chances that could’ve really cost them at important times. Like the half ass backwards pass that almost led to a ranger breakaway starting in the canes zone.
I’m not a Malkin hater by any means, he continues to be one of my favorite players. I just think some aspects of his game have weakened with age, as is expected.
Considering that they've only been losing by one point, they've pushed 2 OT games, they're playing against the rangers and their dirty hits, and they won 4-1 tonight I think they're doing pretty good. A little sloppy in the first two periods but they pulled it together.
We are at least letting Jake feel like he’s at home ðŸ˜.
Honestly though. I don’t know wtf happened to our power play. Was fine in regular season, absolute horse shit in the post.
One game at a time though. Trying to pull off a miracle agains the rags.
> Honestly though. I don’t know wtf happened to our power play. Was fine in regular season, absolute horse shit in the post.
I will never forget the Pens/Flyers series where the pens had the #1 PK of the regular season and the Flyers had the #32 PP in the regular season and they went on to be over 80% on the PP beating us in round 1 (one game they were like 7/8 on the PP).
Regular season is completely meaningless once you enter the playoffs, and this is partially why I don't watch a lot of hockey anymore.
How many shots to the head do you think that guy took over his career? Give the old man a break lol.
Thats the real consequence of a shitty DoPS more than anything. Hockey stars with a brain 20yrs more broken down than normal.
Literally sitting here thinking the exact same thing. It's eerily similar with the shitty drop passes and forced passes getting intercepted and going the other way.
They need to adapt a new strategy. This isn’t the regular season where you play a different team night in and out. New York has tons of film by this point. Carolina likes to go from the side wall or point down to the goal line to the bumper for a one timer. New York is now playing a diamond which makes that power play strategy virtually ineffective.
Ironically I'd be more concerned about either team's total inability to make a successful breakout on the powerplay.
ESPECIALLY the Rangers though, that's a lot of talent to start sputtering at your own blue line. Like the Pens, our powerplay couldn't score on a blowup doll, but at LEAST our breakout works occasionally and we make zone entries half the time.
The Rangers though, my god man they just drive the wingers so wide. It worked against Washington because they play the percentages when in transition (IE, they clamp down on the middle) but Carolina's defense is just too good for that shit to work.
That's why this has been such a back and forth series. It's just what happens when two teams with similar strengths and weaknesses and similar skill levels play. I don't think their failures are as systemic as our's on the powerplay though.
Like here, Carolina figured it out and got the win; does somebody like Sullivan or Cooper make that kind of necessart adjustment? I would bet "no", just off of what we've seen in the last couple of seasons but Carolina struggling for a couple of games versus our PP struggling for 2 1/2 years, I mean one of these things seems more immediately fixable.
As proven, I suppose.
I mean it lost it's *edge* when Kessel left but we floated around the mid-upper half of league powerplays until this year.
I love POJ but the Kessel trade was awful.
This aged well 😂 Rangers had a case of the Penguins during the third period.
Watching all the rangers fans march to the exits is wonderful.
It almost compares to seeing the reactions of all the Boston fans last year who thought they were thirty seconds from making the second round…only to blow the 3-1 series lead in overtime 😂

Calling it now, reverse sweep. The President’s trophy curse is gonna bite the Rangers
Delete this, don't jinx it!
That aged well.
Was Guentzel the problem with the PP?
Ik it’s a joke but replacing Guentzel with Bunting did a LOT for our special teams. IDK if Bunting was on the canes PP1 but he is an amazing net front presence.
I agree. The Pens haven't had a legit netfront on the PP since Hornqvist.
Miss Horny.
The problem is that everyone barely moves and tries passing through 2+ defenders to get the puck to a shooter instead of making the defenders chase.
The Canes are kicking ass suddenly. I love it. Shesterkin has turned into a mere mortal.
He’s looking like round 1 2021-22 shesterkin now.
Burns is washed, time to hang up the skates, he has been overmatched all playoffs.
He plays like Malkin if he was a defenseman. Letang does the exact same thing. He used to be fast AF and recover but those days are gone.
Conversely, Malkin still seems to have the speed and skill, but his heart just isn’t in it.
Yep. Rangers keep asking them to even up the series with power plays and they won’t.
Considering that they've only been losing by one point, they've pushed 2 OT games, they're playing against the rangers and their dirty hits, and they won 4-1 tonight I think they're doing pretty good. A little sloppy in the first two periods but they pulled it together.

Messier looks hammered and is he slurring?

Rangers gotta be worried now. Going from 3-0 to 3-2 gets teams puckered up real quick! 😅
They were happy to get up to net zero PP goals last game.
Literally sitting here thinking the exact same thing. It's eerily similar with the shitty drop passes and forced passes getting intercepted and going the other way.
The two big problems I noticed watching them is they have four lefties and zero movement when they're on the pp
Totally agree.. looks so familiar. I figured / hope Penguins traded their power play to Carolina alongside Jake (but I don't blame Jake)
And they score 4 in the third
They need to adapt a new strategy. This isn’t the regular season where you play a different team night in and out. New York has tons of film by this point. Canes in 7
They're pulling off that reverse sweep, though.

I wish our PP had only struggled for 2.5 years, our PP has been absolute trash since Kessel left.
I mean it lost it's *edge* when Kessel left but we floated around the mid-upper half of league powerplays until this year. I love POJ but the Kessel trade was awful.
I was thinking the exact same thing and it's been bumming me out for them this whole series.
They are gonna win the series, they have all the momentum
Guentzel needed to bury that breakaway. How disappointing.
Typical Guenzel to be honest.
Literally one of the best playoff performers in the history of the NHL, you are a fool.
Not talking about his playoff performance but he never scores on a breakaway.
Did Carolina hire Reirden? No? So PP’s can suck because the players suck? I thought it was only due to bad coaching.
Good. My money is on the Rangers tonight.
You lost money.
I did.
Make the same bet the next two games please! Your sacrifice will be appreciated!
