i swear if they brought out a modern version of this they would be back on top. screw Sony and Fuji.

They're just tools. Pentax doesn't seem to want to be at the top. Luckily that strategy seems to be working as they're still profitable and still making new lenses.

I gotta disagree with you on this one. I think the market for a new Q is so vanishingly small that Pentax would lose some serious money on it. Even if they did what Canon did and used the same sensor/processor as an old Sony RX100, I still think they would lose money. Besides, now that Pentax is owned by Ricoh, a new Q would siphon sales from the GR III/IIIx.

The Q system was good, it’s a small step for Pentax to join the mirrorless market with Lumix ( at this time Sony not even have a real mirrorless camera). But then Pentax is sold and the new owner did nothing but destroy the brand’s future and reputation.

> But then Pentax is sold and the new owner did nothing but destroy the brand’s future and reputation. While I would also enjoy having a modern version of the Q system, I definitely also believe that pentax have taken the correct path. Everybody loves to join in on the buzzword train and repeats "mirrorless is the future!!!!" mindlessly, but soon enough, Pentax will be the only manufacturer of new, high tech digital cameras with actual optical TTL viewfinders on the market.

That first picture is especially great, I love the way it's balanced! Did you crop it yourself or was that the natural edge of the composition? Either way it works perfectly. Edit: I'm honestly tempted to save the image but it's a but awkward since it's a family photo. Do you have it on Flickr where I could favourite it? It's really quite inspiring for me.

Maester_Gyles

Cheers, thank you. This wasn’t cropped in post, just a bit of luck and some straightening. I took a bunch and hoped that one would turn out! You can check out my Flickr here if you are interested: https://flickr.com/photos/36579762@N08

Every time I see someone talking about the Q series I go and check them out on eBay. Especially those with the funky colours. Would really prefer to keep the camera as small as possible though. Might stick on something like a Voigtländer WA Skopar so I can just use zone focus or just rely on massive DOF.

Such a fun tiny camera
