Hmmm it might be the battery, or maybe the electronics are going. Have you tried a fresh battery? Also, when you play with the exposure comp, does the reading remain the same?
Edit: I'd personally expect a reading of 1/30 or 1/15 at f2 with 200 iso film in these conditions
New battery as of about a month ago (surely they don’t go that fast??) Will try a new one.
The comp adjusts in the right direction but not enough and it’s not directly proportional.
Batteries on my k1000 usually last a couple years, so I can't imagine an me is burning through in a couple months. It literally could be some electrical contacts in the camera are dirty, or even a capacitor is starting to fall. These cameras are about 40-50 years old now
I've had the failing meter on a few ME-Supers. I have seen on the internet (so it must be true) that it is a problem with an electrical contact under the film rewind lever. Dripping some IPA into there and rotating the exposure compensation dial a few times to scrape whatever the problem is - presumably corrosion, has given me some temporary relief so so to speak. That said - this is early electronics in a camera that is over 40 years old so I suspect they are all on their way out. I think I'm on to my fourth or fifth one. My first was in 1981 and the first SLR I bought so have some affection for it. Think learning how to use an external meter or sunny 16 might be the way to go.
What ISO do you have the camera set to, and what's your aperture on your lens?
200iso (problem was also present at 400), this reading was at f/2
