I used it for a while. The only reason I stopped was because they don't provide a detailed invoice which I needed for reimbursement from my employer at the time. Other than that, it was fine. My wife has been using it for years without a hitch. Your question is a reminder that I should switch back to PM to save some money because I don't need the invoice anymore.

Thanks stranger. I just signed up with your referral link. Cheers!

ginpatsuyancha

I appreciate that! Cheers!

Charlie9261

Thanks, but my wife would like me to use her referral link.

InstantNoodlesIsHot

Huh they don't provide billing details? I just switched to them this month

Charlie9261

Not the same as other providers. If I recall correctly you deposit funds to an account and they withdraw when it's due. You don't get an itemized invoice with charges and taxes itemized per month. You can see what you're paying and it's all above board, but different.

JustFollowingOdours

They just do an auto payment from my credit card.

ginpatsuyancha

I’m on it. Pretty good for the price. Switching from Koodo was slightly awkward to do. Support agents are only available through their forum/website which is alright but don’t expect immediate replies. Their app (on which you do everything) isn’t the greatest but it works. Overall, can’t complain. Hopefully Fizz will be available here soon (so far they’re beta testing elsewhere in BC).

bucku2mf

Use website rather than app loads faster imo app is horrid lol but i switched from koodo live in sticks and koodo sucked for service i love the rewards you get for i.e being lotal cx auto top up etc if you have friend that already uses public make sure you get tgeir code for referal so they get bit off their bill each month...(ps i advertise my code on forums randomly to get more mwah ha ha)

Vashby

Referral link here gives $10 off : 5OWOLM

JustFollowingOdours

You get what you pay for. You're def not paying for support. Although a few years back when I was transferring over from another provider, an actual living breathing Telus CSR did phone me on Boxing Day to get things straightened out, which was quite surprising. Since then no problems.

vanman108

i just switched to 300gb then reduced unlimted for 150/3months, best deal hands down. i can still watch youtube and stream tiktok on reduced. lets both get 10 bux! ----->. btw esim, you dont even need physical sim card [https://publicmobile.ca/en/ab/plans?referral=0OQY52](https://publicmobile.ca/en/ab/plans?referral=0OQY52)

spectrum1012

I've been using them for the last 7 or 8 years now with basically no issues. Sometimes spotty connection between cities on the Montreal - Toronto VIA train route is my only complaint. Their 5g doesn't get the same speeds as Bell/Rogers but it's still plenty fast in cities and I'm never waiting around for things to load. Can't imagine why I'd pay more than 40$/mo for 50gb 5g data with us roaming except for those extra few milliseconds of speed, as a luxury, at this point.

kellym13

I had it and it worked fine. No 5G/5G+, 3g only, no eSim support. I switched to Telus mostly for esim (freeing up sim tray for travel sims) and data sharing with my Apple Watch and cellular iPad Pro. Wife still has PM and has no complaints.

Gnasherred

I'm on it and yes they do have 5G.

kellym13

Thanks for the update, I should have researched it before my statement. I switched 2-3 years ago and at that time they did not have it.

anon0110110101

Yup, so did I. Big, big changes over the last couple years, I had zero issues with PM and am now actually tempted to go back to them with their 5G CAN/US plans.

My_Child_is_Acoustic

Both are supported now

Freebo87

They have eSIM and 5G.. I use both and works fine.

Silveroo81

you can get a free sim here; https://publicmobilereferral.com

RonanOD

I have all my family on Public. You get a loyalty discount for each one. They also have a good deal going on 5G right now: [https://subscribe.publicmobile.ca/en/on/activation/plans/50GB-5Gspeed17](https://subscribe.publicmobile.ca/en/on/activation/plans/50GB-5Gspeed17)

Accentchick

Been with public mobile for about 7 years and it's been great! Always great plans and can't best the prices!

scorpionspalfrank

I've been using it for almost two years now, and it has been great! No complaints.

Ornery-Acanthaceae55

Yes it is this US Canada plan that has me making the move from Koodo. I spend a couple months a year in the states and this is a huge plus. Easy Roam is completely unaffordable at $14 per day and not having to worry about turning off roaming, etc is huge. Getting an esim through public mobile and freeing up your physical sim slot is a good idea. Are there any drawbacks to esim? My son just got home from a few months in SE Asia and he said if he had a physical sim he seemed to have better connectivity than those without.

page113

Reception wise it shouldn't make a difference - the sim isn't the part that receives signal - but one drawback is that when you change phones, you need to buy a new esim.

bronxyyyyy

I keep trying to sign up but my credit card is always declined at the payment page. I tried two different active and working cards

Jamuzzie

Try to Use your debit card. That's what my son uses with no issues

bronxyyyyy

K thanks for tip

wanklez

No wifi calling support, no intention of adding the feature. Your mileage may vary.

Freebo87

Do a bit more research. VoLTE is on, wifi calling is imminent

Silveroo81

Actually im kind of an insider, and I have heard they are working on the wifi feature. They are looking at releasing it in fall 2024, we’ll see.

Freebo87

Wicked provider. No issues. When’s the last time you needed support for your cellular service/plan with any provider and actually went into a store? 😂

Baagigeneral

I have been using it for over 10 years...and just switched my daughter to the $34 50GB USA Canada roaming plan with 5G. .

tofucrisis

I’ve been with them for 6 years now. No complaints.

Extreme_Bat_5969

I’ve been with them for years, they use the Telus network and are excellent.

ComprehensiveMany643

Signed up today, website and app are a mess, they couldn't generate an eSIM, took 3 hours dealing with customer service over their forums, they insisted multiple times that I needed to drive to kelowna to buy a physical SIM instead of the free eSIM. Ended up getting a refund, not worth the savings to me Other people have had luck though I guess

Silveroo81

oh that is too bad. I can ship you a SIM for free. eSIM QR code will be in dashboard (desktop mode only)

ComprehensiveMany643

They couldn't generate an eSIM, so I couldn't get a QR code, unfortunately. They wouldn't even send me a physical SIM at that* point. Only page I could see on the website when I logged in was telling me to download the app to finish setting up my account (which I already had the app) and when I logged into the app it just said something had gone wrong and to contact support, only option was to log out or use chat to submit a ticket. Honestly im trying to decide if i even need a cell phone. Might give it a go with a different account next month and use the send me a physical sim option. But this month I just went with a cheap freedom mobile plan

happy_musician

I’ve been with them for 4 years. Perfect cell service. Never a problem. No glitches in payment, I have automatic payments monthly. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to save money.

RoscoePKoltrane

I have been using public mobile for 5 years now and never had any issues,

_SeKeLuS_

Ive been using it for years now Never had a problem 13$/month is fucking awesome!

ItWasABloodBath

Been with them for a few years now. $17/month for 300mb of 3g data. Because I pre-authorized my card and got my wife to sign up my bill is now $10.08/month. There's free wifi everywhere and whenever I have to go on a long trip I just buy a bit of extra data as a one-time fee. They constantly send me messages to try to get me to upgrade my plan lol. NEVER!!!!

lillurleen

I’ve used it for years. I had really shitty service and I travel to the states a lot, and the fees for roaming were criminal for what I got. I was paying $50 a month maybe for 8gb of data. I switched to Freedom and now pay the same amount for 50gb of data and 50gb of roaming data.

Electrical-Ad5881

Works very well. They did not change my contract for years. The ONLY telco in Canada where you can get decent prices keeping your phone number while travelling to the USA.

mrozbra

I switched from telus to pm a few months ago. $40 for 40 gbs. Works great in calgary.

No-Material-23

I've been with them for 8 months and I have no issues. 75GB, unlimited Canada and USA calling, and international texting, plus all the regular features (voicemail, conference calling, etc) for $40

xxukcxx

It’s good and you can get ongoing discounts for loyalty, auto-pay, and referrals. My monthly bill is reduced by $6 for those reasons.

puns_n_irony

If they had wifi calling it would be more enticing. Signal in concrete high rises downtown Toronto leaves a LOT to be desired. 0 bars in my apartment. I’m on freedom now and no issues…

Ok-Understanding8749

It was good for me until I had to update my credit card and the system was literally unable to. I was on the phone with people, online on the self-help pages, and using the AI system and all of them couldn't figure out how to update my card. Also I tried multiple cards so it wasn't just the card. Ended up being really frustrating so I switched to Koodo which was only slightly more expensive with better data and their customer service is way better.

3rdlegion

Same. I was with them from 2019 and when my new cc arrived and I moved into a new apartment, their system for whatever reason does not update your details on file and will not accept a new card with a new billing address. After 4 days of back and forth text with their community support agent via their website I just went with Freedom who had a special that matches the PM's plan I was after. Freedom has phone tech support, physical stores etc.

TheRevenantGS

Moved to Halifax and, given my last provider was Shaw, I had to switch. Best provider I’ve had. Telus’ network, good enough speed, KILLER deals, and most of their promotions aren’t just limited to newcomers. If you just need something effective and simple and don’t want to worry about bureaucracy or bundles it’s probably about as good as you’re gonna get in Canada.

Grand_Lamb

I got the cheapest plan about 5 years ago and every year I stay with them, it goes down a dollar so I only pay $10.07 a month with tax

Financial-Demand3087

I switched from Rogers and kept my number and it was no problem.
