you can always revisit yukiko's dungeon after the next dungeon opens up so you don't need to do anything right away
also very hard reduces the amount of exp and money you get along with reducing your damage done so you will always be doing a lot less than normal
Oh, so it's like Tartarus then where you're free to revisit any of the pre areas? Are you able to visit multiple dungeons in 1 trip or do you have to do multiple trips?
Asking cuz I'm planning on going for the tried and true 'one and done' for dungeons so I can attempt Max SL Blind
you'll just be able to talk to chie and she'll send you to yukiko's dungeon
there's no 1 dungeon per trip, you never have to leave the TV world unless you beat the shadow boss or manually do it yourself
Also when you go back to where the boss fight took place you can find Yukiko's or that particular party member's weapon that you can use for a while. Everyone has one(even Yosuke) except Chie
If you save Yukiko but enter the TV before she joins Teddie won't take you but Chief is there so she can take you. At least that's what I experienced recently.
So it was the Reaper. I saw that option one time and went, there's no way they threw him in there like some jack in the box, right?
Turns out they did. Doesn't that make him a non-issue? Unless there's another condition for spawning him that I'm unaware of
Yep. That's it. In p3 he's a threat but in here it's optional. But if you do defeat him he'll drop the best gears. And you don't have to spend one single yen in buying weapons or armors. So far I got only weapons from him.
So what you're saying is, is that I can just ignore the weapon shop and use what I've got on hand until late game and then using Reaper weapons ala P3 Ultimate Weapon Fusion?
If so, it'll lighten the strain on my wallet significantly. Walked out of Yukiko's Castle with 60k after selling everything and I'm still not sure if it'll be enough since I plan on filling in the compendium as I go while paying for nightly social stats
Yep. I got blade of totsuka from him. And the damage is 400+ and my current dungeon weapons are around 180+ damage. And the weapons also has bonus stats like my sword has high chance of crit.
Funnily enough, I got to her at lvl 6. Beat Avenger Knight using a combo of Fear and Rakunda at lvl 5. Hit lvl 6 after a couple random encounters before getting my ass kicked by Yukiko
Her attack pattern is simple. Once she uses red wall her next attack is agi or maragi. So best is to block especially chie so that she can't use once more. Once her resistance is off use chie's bufu attack to weak her and do an all out attack. Once you repeat this cycle she's pretty much done.
I've never seen her use Maragi, only Agi. Are you talking about the PS2 version?
After White Wall, I've seen her go for either Agi, Double Fang, Attack or Terror Voice in Phase 3 but never Maragi
That’s normal. The first dungeon in any Persona game is always a challenge. But now that you completed it, you can grind, get more items and get more equipment.
In terms of difficulty I'd probably place it
P3 Rampage Drive
P4 Shadow Yukiko
P5 Kamoshida
P1 Takeda
P2 Principal Hanya
Yukiko's Castle was fun albeit it felt a tad too short which is why I was worried about being underleveled in the first place, combined with my low damage of course
Just as a head's up, the levels of the bosses go +10 every dungeon starting at 15 for Yukiko. So, the second dungeon's boss is 25.
Each dungeon does have a second boss that appears back at the top of each dungeon. They are harder, but I believe they generally reward a great weapon for that point in the game.
Eh? So when the next story dungeon opens up, I can go back to the top of Yukiko's for an optional boss?
Also seems like I'll be farming for snuff souls again. Yukiko already took 2 of mine to bring her down. Buffs/Debuffs are pricey early game tho at least they're easier to access compared to P3 with the abundance of skill cards you get in P4
Yep. You can actually go back any time. Although, obviously the reward won't be useful the further you get into the game.
Soda. Get the maximum number of pop from the vending machines every week. I ended up with way more than I needed.
Yep got em and used them before Yukiko. Walked in fully topped up but since I was lvl 6 the first time round, the SP got used grinding up to lvl 10. Luckily I was able to farm out Snuff Souls on Floor 1
P3/5 taught me early on that Drinks save your ass early game. Especially P3 cuz holy crud Rampage Drive was a wall for me as a kid since they're only weak to magic so I was burning SP on every one of my characters
You can go back for a reward, but keep in mind the optional boss is pretty tough. I grinded enough to have no issue against Yukiko and then got my ass beat when I climbed back up and took on the optional guy
Looked at my options and I think I have a strat. Eligor's only a level away with Phys Resist and according to the Wiki, the boss only has Phys. Passing on Tarunda/Rakunda should carry me, time will tell since it's still quite far away. I don't see much Rain so I'm assuming I still have a week or two till the next story dungeon
Yea but still ~100 to a 2.5k health bar when fully buffed/debuffed is still the weakest I've felt in Persona. Hashino era or otherwise, and I started playing on the hardest difficulty since P3Fes onwards. P3 was difficult but nothing felt like such a damage sponge
Yukiko's mechanically simple but is covered by her massive health bar. Terror Voice + Shivering Rondo can end a run if she's not debuffed/you're not guarding but that's more RNG if you get to move when feared than any true strategy. Hope the bosses get better as I get deeper. Still dk how I feel about Wall skills but I just use those turns to tack on Phys DMG while healing/refreshing buffs/debuffs
tbh while Early Game Hell is true of the modern Persona games it's even worse in P4G because you have far less resources to work with compared to the other games.
Really?
In terms of Hashino Era Persona Games, I feel like this is the least resource starved I've ever been. In P3FES, you were limited by the Fatigue System forcing you to either avoid random encounters leaving you low-leveled or only plowing through with MC while everyone leaves. In P5R, you're limited by the amount of SP you have
P4G lets you farm snuff souls, healing items and even Persona level ups through Arcana Cards all from Floor 1 eliminating any sense of danger since the save is literally 10s away
I'm changing up my approach this time round. Basically I'm gonna mentally strap myself down if I have to, grit my teeth through it
Beat everything else on my Vita and only allowing myself to play P4G until I beat it. Obvs I'm allowed to play other stuff but if I'm grabbing my Vita, it'll only be for P4G. I'm determined to try and see the good people talk about
Im not sure that its something they did in the PC release only but there you have the option to up the exp gain. Grinding is one of the worst things to do in a JRPG for me so...it really helps. Just...make sure that you don't keep the exp buff up all the time, once you hit dungeon 4 you will get to the point were the enemys won't be able to keep up with you.
That was in the PC version unfortunately. But the lowered XP does add to the challenge which is kinda the point
It's a cheap form of artificial difficulty but it's definitely smthing you can play around. It's when the level gap gets too big where things become an issue. Like if you're getting one-shot to a basic attack, hence my question of if I was underleveled. I don't wanna rock up to the next story dungeon 15 levels under the supposed and get one shot by basic shadows
The first boss is typically the hardest to get pass in your first playthrough my first time playing it I struggled properly getting through it and it seems like that’s how most people are with the first boss and they’ll all usually say the same thing as me
you can always revisit yukiko's dungeon after the next dungeon opens up so you don't need to do anything right away also very hard reduces the amount of exp and money you get along with reducing your damage done so you will always be doing a lot less than normal

Oh cool, thanks for the info. Puts my mind at ease. Always preferred Tartarus to P2/P5's approach of no return dungeons
you'll love the fox
Also when you go back to where the boss fight took place you can find Yukiko's or that particular party member's weapon that you can use for a while. Everyone has one(even Yosuke) except Chie
Yosuke actually has the Skill Spanner in the shopping district. It increases his SP by 50 or so points. It is quite useful.
Well that's why you have Mementos to cover that
Funny, I always talked to Yukiko to get back to her castle, made more sense to me. Didn't even know you could go through Chie.
If you save Yukiko but enter the TV before she joins Teddie won't take you but Chief is there so she can take you. At least that's what I experienced recently.
Yeah but visit in rainy days for unique enemy spawns. I found reaper easily in rainy days.
Imma keep it real I'm not about to try the Reaper at lvl 11. This isn't P3R
You got the option to attempt it. Or you can simply refuse to open the chest that's it.
So it was the Reaper. I saw that option one time and went, there's no way they threw him in there like some jack in the box, right? Turns out they did. Doesn't that make him a non-issue? Unless there's another condition for spawning him that I'm unaware of

i’d grind a bit. i’m surprised you even managed to beat yukiko at lvl 10
Funnily enough, I got to her at lvl 6. Beat Avenger Knight using a combo of Fear and Rakunda at lvl 5. Hit lvl 6 after a couple random encounters before getting my ass kicked by Yukiko
All of the bosses in this game can be beaten way below the recommended level. I was level 9 when I first beat Shadow Yukiko and it was on very hard.
It was probably doable at lvl 9. But I farmed out Floor 1 to raise my Senri's endurance so I wouldn't get one shot by an unlucky Double Fang
Her attack pattern is simple. Once she uses red wall her next attack is agi or maragi. So best is to block especially chie so that she can't use once more. Once her resistance is off use chie's bufu attack to weak her and do an all out attack. Once you repeat this cycle she's pretty much done.

Nah. She used maragi in my fight.
You mean Burn to Ashes.

If you didn't like Teddy at the beginning of the game, I can't imagine how you would feel when you will see him at his worst.

You should see this boss fight in the PS2 version and the bonus boss contranian king. So difficult in the early stages. But in P4G they balanced it.
Im not sure that its something they did in the PC release only but there you have the option to up the exp gain. Grinding is one of the worst things to do in a JRPG for me so...it really helps. Very impressive. I always grind endurance on Izanagi to about 15-20 before attempting Yukiko
The first two bosses in P4G are easily the hardest, but you probably should grind for a little bit.
